A Venezuelan man who had been declared dead woke up in the morgue in excruciating pain after medical examiners began their autopsy. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070917/od_nm/autopsy_dc;_ylt=AuX5qOw8cda4olH3qPCVDPPtiBIF)

Strange circumstances, indeed.
No doubt, he must've been freaked out when he saw where he was and what was about to happen, so it's a good thing he woke up.

It sometimes happens that, due to a trauma, someone's heart stops for a minute or so (while the brain survives). But a couple of centuries ago such situations were more common, and some people were later discovered to had been buried alive... horrifying!

ug, I always get the 'heebeegeebees' when I hear stories of ppl waking up under the knife.

Strange..... They didn't check his pulse, or if he was breathing?

This is just creepy.

I'm pretty sure they did, people aren't just gonna declare someone is dead just because they look like they are.
like djux said, sometimes the heart stops temporarily while the brain is still functional. I wonder if it was the pain from the incision that got his heart beating again.
lucky lucky man
