SAN JOSE, Calif. - A New York woman is so angry at Apple Inc. for lopping $200 off the price of the iPhone that she's filed a lawsuit seeking US$1 million in damages. (http://technology.sympatico.msn.ca/Woman+sues+over+Apples+iPhone+price+cut/NewsandOpinions/ContentPosting.aspx?isfa=1&newsitemid=31262018&feedname=CP-TECHNOLOGY&show=False&number=0&showbyline=True&subtitle=&detect=&abc=abc)
What else can be said but... :sheep love:

And if the got the BOM right, Apple still makes about 50% profit...
-
Frivolous, FRIVOLOUS, I tell ya. XD

Price cuts happen all the time. The woman is dumb is she thinks she has a chance. Is it Apple's fault that she wanted to be an early adopter? Then again, Apple just my pay out the ass just to settle.
-
a milllion in damages XD lmao XD maybe if she is lucky apple give her a coupon of discount or something... a million dollars lol

Things like this are ridiculous, and I hope it gets nowhere. Technology pretty much always drops in price over time. If you want to be an early adopter, you have to accept that you're going to pay more for it than someone who adopts the technology later. If you're not willing to accept the fact that you may pay $100, $200, or whatever more to be the first to get something, then wait and buy it later for a lower price. Don't buy high, then sue when the price drops. You made the choice to buy at the higher price. That's nobody's fault but your own.
That said, I think people were upset with how fast the price dropped, within a few months IIRC, and perhaps that was too fast. I don't know. I think I read that Apple was offering like a $100 or $200 store credit for people who bought early, and if that's right, they're already doing something. A law suit really isn't necessary in the first place, but if Apple's already doing something, it's just stupid overkill.

I want to be compensated for the fact that my computer would sell for less than half what I paid for it over 2 years ago. GIVE ME MONEY! I'M A VICTIM! :bleed eyes: :bleed eyes:

Dronak: I think Apple's decision to offer the gift certificates was motivated by the consumer reaction to the price drop including the law suit.
-
well the gift certificates and stuff were offered the day after the announcement, so I don't think the lawsuit had anything to do with it as it was filed a few weeks after the announcement
But the gift certificates were a result of many customer complaints.

it's best if the woman didnt get anything.
i can't see how it is apple's fault for doing price drops. if there are no price drops, i believe i can never get some gadgets like ps3 or wii.
if she's unhappy with the price drop, just sell back that thing and get a new one XD

^ A price drop itself is not the problem (and actually expected) but the timing was 'less then perfect'. People started to think (rightfully it looks like) that they where charched way to much for even a first-gen 'Apple fan have to have' product.

The ps3 has had a price cut & upgrade since I got mine, but I'm not cryin bout it. Although $100 can go a long way...
-
upgrade? what kind of upgrade?
-
Lulz I can't blame her. A friend of mine complained when the N64 took a massive price cut (remember that?) and he got the 4 brand new games and a new controller. Complaining works, do it more often.
-
I'd like to sue her for being a dumbass
-
upgrade? what kind of upgrade?
They removed a lot of the backwards compatibility. For Sony that counts as an upgrade...

People these days. 1 mill, she is out of her mind if she thinks she'll win.
