Title: New currency for space travellers
Post by: Foxy Brown on October 07, 2007, 02:44:55 PM
Scientists have come up with a new currency designed to be used by inter-planetary travellers.

It is called the Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination, or Quid.

It is designed to withstand the stresses of space travel and has no sharp edges or chemicals that could hurt space tourists.  (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7029564.stm)

Yea, like this is really needed.
How about these morons concentrate more on earth bound issues, instead of trying to run from them.

Nifty. Always nice to see people looking ahead a bit.

I wonder how expensive the currency is. One of the problems with our currency is that it costs more than a penny to manufacture a penny.

Yeah, the National Space Centre should really stop goofing off and get to work on curing cancer.

Never said they'd be the one's who should be doing it, but the money they used to come up with this trash could've been used better elsewhere.

^ Yup, and they shouldn't have investing in building smaller computers either...

Is there anything to buy in space?

This would be interesting and certainly useful if we reached the level of space 'tourism' that these scientists envisioned. Sadly, we're not. I imagine it will be a very long time before plans for a 'space hotel' are even unveiled. The number of people who could even afford to go into space is so small, that this really only benefits a fortunate few.

Exactly.

Of course it's a good thing to come up with ways to make technology faster and smaller.  Who has said otherwise?   O0
