Title: His silence mistaken, deaf man attacked
Post by: modesta107 on October 10, 2007, 11:01:00 PM
Store cashier struck a deaf customer in the head with a crowbar after he mistook the man's silence for rudeness and disrespect. (http://www.star-telegram.com/629/story/257747.html)

Okay, even if the customer WAS being rude/disrespectful, that cashier still stepped WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over the line there.  He obviously knew that he'd get in trouble for it, considering:

The store's surveillance tape was erased or taped over prior to officers' arrival, Sullivan said.

Now you KNOW that it wasn't an accident/coincidence that THAT happened.

I sure hope the deaf guy's family presses charges against that idiot.
/me shakes head in disbelief.

I remember a story a few years ago with a similar kind of incident. Some guy in a car murdered a pedestrian because he didn't she any signs of thanks for letting him cros the road. Funnily enough the weapon of choice here was crowbar too...(maybe not so funny)

The cashier is probably a black guy. He is too sensitive to notice that the deaf speech is sometimes incomprehensible.  So he thought that the deaf guy spoke the bad words, such as nig....  The racial thing is quite scary.
