Also, not really a rule, but keep in mind that this is a 10th Anniversary thread. So putting a bit of effort into your post would be nice, especially since there's plenty of time to do it.

Miuna became a part of Hello! Project when she joined Country Musume in 2003. The first single she was a part of, Uwaki Na Honey Pie, boosted the sales and popularity of Country Musume.

She was also spirited when it came to sports. She was a part of Gatas Brilhantes H.P. and always gave it her best at the H!P Sport Festival. The following video shows how competitive she was:

The sad thing is, Miuna is one of the most underrated girls in the Hello! Project. Her vocals and dancing are top of the line. I guess some people never noticed her, because she only released three singles with Country Musume and she’s been only in one shuffle unit; H.P. Allstars (alongside 45 other members).

Fortunately, Country Musume appeared as guests in the Morning Musume 2005 Haru tour and they appeared in various other concerts.

She graduated Hello! Project on the 28th of January 2007 at the Hello! Project 2007 Winter ~Shuuketsu! 10th Anniversary~ concert, alongside fellow Country Musume member Kimura Asami. Sadly, this ment the end of Country Musume as we knew it. Ofcourse we all wish Miuna the best of luck in the future.

It's a well known fact that back in July of 2003 Reina took centre stage on her very first single with Morning Musume "Shabondama", she's also been described as being one of the most photogenic girls the band has ever had, and even Tsunku himself said that she was "closest to being a perfect Morning Musume member". From then it was obvious Reina would grow to be one of the bands most popular members in the current line-up with both Asian and Western fans alike.

Through time Reina's popularity has grown and grown and she has gone on to become one of the central figures in the bands recent success, but of course Reina's attention hasn't always been the kind that would be desired. In 2006 an article in Friday magazine featured Reina in what would apparantly be the beginning of the end for her career as a Musume.

What exactly happened at the end of all of this isn't exactly known, all that is known is that Reina is still with us and that she continues to entertain daily.

Thank you to all of those who have posted information about Reina on the net in the past and a big thanks to all those who posted up the youtube videos so I didn't have to bother, (well okay I put one of them up). I know this hasn't been the most in depth of descriptions and I really do apologise for that, I was hoping this could have been more of a group effort between myself and others but, well I guess I have only myself to blame for that; I guess doing this around the holiday period was also bad timing for me as my net access has been limited. Well anyway what more needs to be said? There's plenty of Reina fans out there and I sure as heck know that I'm one of them, and we know that you don't need to explain exactly why she's great.

Momoko, born on the 6th March 1992, began her career by joining Hello! Project as “H!P Kid” in 2002 at the age of 11 years. In H!P Kids she was mainly backdancer for other Hello! Project groups.
Still in 2002 Momoko became leading actress of the movie “Koinu Dan no Monogatari” (“Puppy Dan’s story”) where she played a girl who is helping her friend finding a place for a blind stray puppy.
In 2003 she became member of the short-lived group ZYX. She made her first real stage experience there besides her work in H!P Kids.
Finally in 2004 Berryz Koubou was founded and Momoko became one of the 8 original members. Also in 2004, she had a role in the H!P Fan Club only movie “Promise Land ~Clovers no Daibouken~”.
In 2005, Momoko was lead of the Berryz Koubou song “Gag 100 Kaibun Aishitekudasai”.
These days Momoko is one of the most popular former H!P Kids. Her goods on concerts and in Hello! Project official stores sell very well.
She is renowned for her pinky sticking out and her high-tension but it seems that she calmed down a bit lately. One thing she is seriously scared of are rollercoasters.
2007 she was chosen to be member of a new group called “Buono!”. With Buono! she sings the opening and ending theme of the anime “Shugo Chara!” together with Natsuyaki Miyabi and Suzuki Airi.

Mari joined Morning Musume through the 2nd generation on 1998.05.03, being the youngest from this gen and the smallest MM member ever. Her first official works were Summer Night Town, Morning Musume's second single, released on 1998.05.27, and "First Time", Morning Musume's first album. She's participated in 25 MM singles, and in the first six MM albums.

While she was in Morning Musume, she had roles in the Hello! Project movies "Morning Cop", "Pinch Runner" (playing Kanzaki Tomoko), "Nama Tamago" and "Koinu Dan no Monogatari". She also was a voice actress for "One Piece the movie: Episode of Alabasta: The Desert Princess and The Pirates". She's done three solo photobooks ("Yaguchi" - 2002.02.07, "Love Hello! Besides her irrespective character (which made her an outstanding personality), she's done lots of work outside MM. Tanpopo, her first non-MM H!P unit, showed us two sides of Mari, first gen Tanpopo was mature and second gen Tanpopo was more child-like. She came out with the Minimoni concept and became leader of this succesful MM sub-unit, that featured Kago Ai, Tsuji Nozomi and Todd Mika. After she left Minimoni, she showed us again her mature side, in ZYX (two singles unit, that also featured the oldest H!P Kids) and Romans (one-shot unit). She participated in the shuffle units all the years, Aoiro 7 (2000 shuffle unit, Aoi Sportscar no Otoko single released in 2000.03.08), 7nin matsuri (2001 shuffle unit, Summer Reggae Rainbow single released in 2001.07.04), Sexy 8 (2002 shuffle unit, Shiawase desu ka? single released in 2002.07.03), and was of course part of the H!P All Stars (2004's only shuffle unit, All for one and One for all single released in 2004.12.01). In 2003 MM got divided in teams, the Sakura Gumi and the Otome Gumi, and Mari took part of the first one. Sakura Gumi's style was the traditional japanese one, the two SG singles were ballads, but they also did covers for Dekkai Uchuu ni Ai ga Aru, Say Yeah! ~Motto Miracle Night~ and Daite HOLD ON ME!. In May 2003, Mari became subleader of MM (after Yasuda Kei's graduation), and in January 2005, she became Morning Musume's leader (after Iida Kaori's graduation). In April 2005, FRIDAY magazine reported that Mari was in a relationship with Oguri Shun (actor), and she herself announced her resignement from MM, because she "betrayed (her) position as an idol" and "want(ed) to move on with (her) career as an adult".
Since she resigned from MM, she stopped her regular activies as an idol, and started doing many other activities. She was one of the voices in a Berryz Koubou's Nigiyaka na Fuyu, althought she didn't have a solo line. She was the main actress in the japanese dorama "Sentou no Musume?!" ("Daughter of the Bathhouse?!", 45 episodes, aired in Japan early 2006), playing the role of Yume, a loud, demanding-attention girl. She also had a main role in the japanese dorama "Gal Circle", where she played Yurika, and had constant fights with Toda Erika, who played the role of Saki. She co-hosts two TV shows, Yaguchi Hitori and Kanrui! Jikuu Times, appears in Midtown TV, and hosts Ciao TV, that features some of the H!P Eggs. She has her own radioshow, called "Yaguchi to Yamaken no radio" (airs every Thursday). In 2007 she started singing in Hello! Project concerts again, and being one of the MCs. She's also appeared 25 times in Uta Doki! (old pop songs covers program), singing ballads, up-beat songs, and the infamous YMCA (in a duet with Yasuda Kei).

Mari has two projects for 2008, the first one is "Damn Yankees", broadway musical, where she'll play the role of Gloria, a comical girl who sings and dances. The first show for this musical is May 25th. Her other project is a small role in the movie "Kung Fu Kun" (that'll premiere next year), the story of a kid Shaolin Master that travels to Japan as part of his training.

In August 2001, the then 9 member Morning Musume saw the addition of four new girls: Asami Konno, Ai Takahashi, Risa Niigaki, and Makoto Ogawa. The first single Makoto ever participated in would be Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~. She would not have large vocal parts, but she was eye catching in the PV as man-Yossi's love interest. Mr. Moonlight included, Makoto participated in 18 Morning Musume singles during her time with Morning Musume. She was unfortunately never given any large parts, but that did not stop her from shining in all that she did. She displayed her wonderful dancing skills and was always known for being very energetic and happy in the group.

Aside from Morning Musume, Makoto was involved in a few sub- and shuffle groups. These include the short lived 3rd gen Pucchi Moni, Otome Gumi, Happy 7, and Salt 5. She was also often featured in concert shuffles, giving Makoto a chance to show off her amazing talent. She also released three photobooks during her time: 5 Morning Musume. 5ki Members (With the other 5 gens), Ogawa Makoto, and Natsu no Uta.

After a 5 year run with Morning Musume, it was announced that Makoto, along with her fellow 5th gen member, would be graduating in order to pursue an education. Her last single with the group was Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii Jan. She would stay until the end of August in order to finish up the run of Morning Musume's Ribbon no Kishi. However, Makoto graduated with intent to return to Hello! Project after she was finished with her studies. Makoto fans are still patiently waiting for her return to add that bit of beautiful energy that has been missing.

Brief History
Mika made her debut in Hello! Project with Coconuts Musume in 1999 with Ayaka, April, Chelsea, and Danielle.
When Mini Moni was formed, Mika was brought in as the 4th members as she met the requirement of 150cm
or shorter. Later on, when Yaguchi left the group, she took over as leader. In 2004, Mika announced that
she was leaving Hello! Project to pursue a singing career in the United States. Since then, she has released
her first solo jazz album in mid 2005.
My Take..
My original entry into Hello! Project, and most all Japanese music for that matter, was through Mini Moni.
The more I got into it, the more I became a fan of Mika. She can speak fluently in Japanese and English, sing on a
level with few equals, and has unsurpassed beauty. While most of the other girls in Hello! Project fancy themselves
for being cute and girly, Mika has always been one of the few real women through it all. As much as I was saddened
to see her leave Hello! Project, because I knew I'd hardly ever hear or see her anymore, I was still happy to see her
pursue her dreams as a solo artist. It's a shame she never got the attention she deserved in H!P, but now the sky
is the limit!

March 15th was the date another one of Tsunk's big announcements. This time, it was an announcement that would change the course of H!P as fans knew it. Two new members would be joining Morning Musume as Chinese exchange students. One of them was our beloved JunJun. She started out shy because of the language barrier, but it is obvious she is overcoming that quickly. She's already participated in two singles and proved herself worthy at concerts, such as singing Furusato with LinLin, Aika, and Koharu.

In 2006, Mano Erina was selected to be in Tsunku's group of H!P trainees, the H!P eggs. She was also selected to be a reserve player of H!P's futsal team, Gatas Brilhantes H.P. Manoeri also participated in Dai 1 Kai Hello! Project Shinjin Kouen concert which featured H!P eggs, THE Possible, Mitsui Aika, Arihara Kanna, JunJun, and LinLin.

In 2007, a new H!P unit was formed by the name of Ongaku Gatas. It was the first time a unit contained both H!P members AND H!P eggs. They released their first single in September and it gave Manoeri a chance to showcase her talent. Then, excitement rose as OG's 2nd single, Yattarouze, was announced. This song quickly became a fan favorite and earned Manoeri even more respect as an artist.
Manoeri is one of the brightest talents H!P has. Many have noticed her star quality in everything she's been involved in so far. You can truly tell she enjoys what she's doing, and she's wonderful at it as well.

Tokunaga Chinami, with the current height of 162cm, this makes her the 3rd tallest member of the group she belongs to, which is Berryz Koubou. The ones standing in her way would be her buddies Kumai Yurina (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=13771.msg427995#msg427995) and Sudou Maasa (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=13771.msg428553#msg428553), and incidentally the three of them are also unofficially referred to as the ToKuMaaz trio. (Also see track #3 from their 4th album: 思い立ったら 吉でっせ！)
Before debuting as a member of Berryz Koubou Chinami acted as a backdancer, most notably in Fujimoto Miki (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=13771.msg427933#msg427933)'s promotional video of "Boogie Train '03". Other than the PV, she also appeared in live performances of the song. During Fujimoto's first live tour in Spring 2003, among the tour goods was also limited edition "Toku-san onigiri" which apparently was a big hit. Other than backdancing she also appeared in two movies, Koinu Dan no Monogatari and Promise Land ~Clovers no Daibouken~.
Having debuted in 2002 as a Hello! Project Kid, Chinami's hair was always long and often in braids or tails until she started middle school where she cut it short. In terms of Berryz Koubou's timeline, this was during their 6th single "Special Generation". Since then she's been keeping her hair fairly short, but recently Chinami herself mentioned that she's currently letting it grow out to approximately her shoulders.
In Berryz Koubou Chinami is referred to as the "joker" of the group, often being in high spirits and being a big fan of puns this is no surprise. Chinami's voice is one of the highest in the group and generally pretty weak, but what she lacks in singing ability she makes up in energy which can often be seen in concerts.
Chinako tidbits:
- As a big pun lover, she also owns a notebook where she stores them
- She pronounces "udon" as "oodon"
- During a time Chinami pronounced "mugicha" as "nugicha"
- Monitor (モニター) is pronounced as モニータ. Even after being corrected, she still makes the same mistake.

Sawada Yuri is a Hello! Project Egg, best known for belonging to the new H!P unit Ongaku Gatas. She was first introduced on stage when she was a backdancer with 5 other Eggs in Tokito Ami's concert in April 2006. In summer 2006, she got to test her acting skills in Gyao online dramas Doutoku joshi tandai Eco-ken and 39℃, co-starring with senpai such as Takahashi Ai, Goto Maki and Satoda Mai. She also got stage experience in Berryz Koubou's play Edo kara chakushin!? ~Time Slip to Kengai!~. Born in Japan, Ayaka Kimura was bilingual in both English and Japanese, and then moved to Hawaii with her mother at age 14, when her parents separated. She continued her studies here, even attending University whilst working as a waitress at a curry house.
In 1998, Ayaka formed a singing group with four other friends: April Barbaran, Chelsea Ching, Danielle Delaunay and of course, Mika Todd. The group began performing at a small restaurant in Waikiki, Hawaii and whilst performing there, the group was spotted by ex-Sharan Q drummer Makoto, a former bandmate of ex-vocalist Tsunku, the producer and mastermind behind Hello! Project. Makoto convinced Tsunku to sign them into Hello! Project, and in 1999, the group headed to Japan and became Coconuts Musume. "Coconuts" refers to the group's origin in Hawaii, and "Musume" refers to its sister relationship with other popular Hello! Project group, Morning Musume.

Members have come and gone during Coconuts reign, but Ayaka still remains to this day, even now introduced as 'Coconuts Musume Ayaka' despite the fact she's the only one remaining in the group. Ayaka has also been involved with many sub-groups including Kiiro 5, 7nin Matsuri, Sexy 8, 11WATER and Hello! Project All Stars. During her time in Hello! Project, she has formed a close friendship with Mika Todd, Mai Satoda (ex-member of Country Musume) and Hitomi Yoshizawa (ex-member of Morning Musume).

But what makes Ayaka so endearing to the Western audience was her segment on Bishoujo Kyouiku titled "Ayaka no Totsugeki Eikaiwa" (Ayaka's Surprise English Lesson), in which she would get members of Hello! Project to teach English with (or at least attempt to!) Due to the fact that popular members of Hello! Project would do their best to learn even the most rudimentary English phrases, is what makes these segments so special to H!P fans who suffer from the language gap. And they can be hilarious.

Beautiful voice, great dancer and with a body like a goddess, it's a wonder she hasn't taken over the world by now. But she's more than a pretty face. Ayaka, in my eyes, works as a link between East and West. You don't have to be fluent in Japanese to like it's culture, but having Ayaka makes it that little bit easier to get into H!P for any newcomers (as it did for me).
So as H!P approaches it's 10th year, it's naturally a cause for celebration, but also reflection. I look back on the 3 years I've been a fan, and there's one woman who's the first on my mind when I think of the good times and as a role model of H!P and I doubt that it will ever change. Nor would I want it to. :)

Niigaki Risa (born October 20, 1988 in Kagoshima, raised in Yokohama) is a Fifth generation member and current subleader of Morning Musume.
Before joining Morning Musume, she was one of finalist (out of 1,000 entrants) in the "Kiss Girl Audition" to become the new Tomy image girl held by TV Tokyo's "Oha Star" program. She appeared in a commercial with the other finalist, Hasegawa Ai, for Tomy Karaoke Machine Kiss-site, but she lost the Grand Prix prize to Hasegawa (ironically, she later starred in a commercial for the same company as a part of Morning Musume :lol:).

In August 2001, she passed the Love Audition 21 and joined the group along with her fellow fifth generation members Takahashi Ai, Konno Asami, and Ogawa Makoto. Tsunku said he chose her because she "shined during the final studio recording" for the audition song that all the finalists had to sing. She made her debut appearance by singing the 1st line of Morning Musume's 13th Single "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~", and first appeared in their 4th Album, 4th Ikimasshoi!. In the summer of that year, she also debuted in a shuffle unit, as part of Happy 7, with two other 5th members, Takahashi Ai and Ogawa Makoto. In the later September, all 5th gen members were placed into subgroups. She was placed into Tanpopo as a member of the third generation, along with Konno Asami. However, the new grouping only managed to release one single before becoming inactive.
In early 2007, she was chosen along with Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Goto Maki and Kusumi Koharu to be members of a unit created to celebrate Morning Musume's 10th Anniversary - Morning Musume Tanjou 10Nen Kinentai (モーニング娘。誕生10年記念隊) . Their first single, Bokura ga Ikiru My Asia (僕らが生きるMy Asia), was released on January 24, 2007.
On June 1st, 2007, after the resignation of leader Fujimoto Miki, Takahashi Ai became the Leader and she became the subleader.
After Tsuji Nozomi's pregnancy, she took over the role of Athena in the animation series Robby & Kerobby. In October of 2007, she was placed in the unit Athena & Robikerottsu along with fellow Morning Musume member Mitsui Aika, as well as Nakajima Saki and Okai Chisato of °C-ute.

6th Generation Morning Musume
Kamei Eri is a 6th generation member of the super jpop group Morning Musume. She was born in December 23, 1988 in Tokyo, Japan, the middle child of 3 children. Eri's ambitions of being in Morning Musume started back during Morning Musume's Love Machine period (the highlight of MM's fame) when she was merely 11-12 years old. Like all Morning Musume members, she lived a normal life as a student before giving a shot at the auditions to join the group. In late 2002, Eri and 2 other girls formed 6th Generation MM with the addition of Hello Project soloist Miki Fujimoto. Their debut was Morning Musume's 19th single "Shabondama" in summer 2003.
One of the main reasons Eri wanted to Morning Musume was to overcome her shyness. Being a very shy student at school, Eri would get jealous of those who could speak up so easily in class. Her shyness was so bad that she'd hide herself in a corner of a room to calm herself down (hence her liking of corners). Even after she made it into the group, Eri was often scolded for being too quiet.

For most of her first year in Morning Musume, Eri had been somewhat left in the shadows. She started off as the quietest and shyest member. Her strange behavior became a trademark labeling her the weird one in the group, having strange likings for things like small tight spaces and corners of rooms. However, in early 2004 she got her big break when she was given the role of field reporter Elizabeth Kyamei (a name derived from her own name) for HPH news on the Hello Morning show. Since then she's been taking on more skit roles and characters on HM, making her the 6th gen member with the most TV screentime. Her most memorable characters are the creepy Sachi Usue, salesman Eri Kamezou, and Korean actor Bae "Yonsama" Yong-Joon from "Winter Sonata".

Aside from being the weird one in the group, Eri is also known for her worst talent in drawing. Her drawings of seemingly normal objects and animals become twisted by her surreal imagination. Ironically, it was revealed on a psychology test (Hello Morning July 10, 2006) that Eri was a genius artist in her past life. She also has a tendency to space out and be absent-minded which makes her say weird things. She's very bad at telling jokes and doesn't do well in games and sports, except for running which she excels greatly in. However, these shortcomings of hers somewhat become her charm points and a lot of fans seem to like that about her.

Nowadays Eri is more open and confident, having overcome most of her shyness and revealing a sweet, funny, yet still odd personality. Although she has gained popularity over the years and is one of the best dancers of the current [2007] lineup, Eri has yet to have a lead/fronting role in a Morning Musume single. She is also the only member (aside from the new members) who hasn't been put into any special Hello Project unit or solo project. Despite that, Eri is quite a unique member to Morning Musume.

In 2004 Tsunku♂ anunced his new project, Berryz Koubou, a new groups formed by 8 Hello! Project Kids. They debuted on March 3, 2004 with their song あなたなしでは生きてゆけない, wich sold 15, 315 copies in total. They released a total of 5 singles on 2004. It was on March when they released one of their biggest hits in the Hello! Project and their best selling single at that time, Special Generation. Berryz continued releasing singles in 2005 and 2006, with a total of 4 in 2005 and 3 in 2006. It was on 2007, when they broke their record selling 24,489 with their second single of 2007, 告白の噴水広場. After that, their 3rd single came and it sold even more than that, they sold 31,787. Berryz has a total of 15 singles and a new one coming on 2008.

Nocchi is a reserve player in Gatas Brilhantes H!P futsal and part of Ongaku Gatas, group consisting of members of the futsal. Gatas has released two singles and their first album 1st GOODSAL will be released in February 2008. In Ongaku Gatas Nocchi has her chance to shine next to such H!P members as Yoshizawa Hitomi, Konno Asami, Ishikawa Rika and Satoda Mai.
Gatas singles bring out Nocchi's sweet, energetic personality. She's not afraid to smile widely at the camera. Though Nocchi hasn’t done much before joining Eggs she gives this air of professionality and confidence and has her natural charm and energy. Linlin is beautiful, hilarious and talented girl from China. Linlin was first added to H!P Eggs, and while in Eggs she was called Poni-chan ("Ponytail-chan"), because people recognised her of her ponytail, but didn't know her name. Before this Linlin had some experience of entertaiment bussiness as she had worked on television in China already. With other Eggs she worked as a backdancer for a little while. Tsunku observed Linlin's performing skills and it was decided that she would be added to Morning Musume's 8th generation. When this was decided Linlin also moved to Japan.
8th generation is: Aika Mitsui, Li Chun (also from China) and Qian Lin. Linlin and Junjun are part of the plan of Hello!Project reaching further to other countries of Asia.

In 13th May 2007 was held a concert for all the new members of Hello!Project, titled Shinjin kouen. In this concert performed H!P Eggs, The Possible, Arihara Kanna, Aika Mitsui, Junjun and Linlin. In this concert Linlin shows her wonderful energy and power in performing. While watching this concert you can see how much Linlin loves performing. Remembering all her lines in songs and dance moves must be a hard job, but on stage you can only see how she almost glows while doing her job perfectly well.

Born in the best city of the entire Universe, Tokyo, in the greatest year-month-and-day of all times, on 1991 November 22nd, Miss Shimizu Saki was fated to enter the Navy (indeed, her name 清水-Shimizu- means Spring Water). She joined the Oriental branch of the Navy of ZeWorld -more known as Hello!ProjectKids- at the age of 10, and was already a big camwhoring-err-good cadet. Trained by the Charismatic Rear Admiral Lower Half Yagu-chan, who gave her the famous nickname Shimi-hamu-chan, for her first mission, she was assigned as Blind-Puppy-Protector in summer 2002, which was a real success. A movie was adapted from the book that related this mission, 仔犬ダンの物語-Koinu Dan no Monogatari-. Since then her upward mobility was really fast : In late 2003, while her best fellow, cadet Natsuyaki joined the Aa! crew in order to conquere the East, she was already part of the ZYX crew to conquere the South (Mission : Fly high) and the North (Mission : Shiroi Tokyo). After those 3 successful missions, she was promoted as Captain in early 2004, and was able to command her own crew : the Berryz工房, which first mission (a success, do i really have to mention it) Code name : あなたなしでは生きてゆけない-Anata Nashi De Wa Ikite Yukenai, led her to be chosen for the most secret and dangerous mission ever : Find the Promise Land. For this mission, she took her best officers, Lieutenant Natsuyaki Miyabi, Sub-Lieutenan Tsugunaga Momoko and Acting Sub-Lieutenant Tokunaga Chinami. Unfortunatly, she lost one of her Subordinate Officers in autumn 2005, but from that day, they switched on a new promising future and her crew has been more united than ever and-happily-ever-after. The next mission in the ocean, codename : ジンギスカン -Jengiskan, will start on March 2008, and will be her 16th since she became Captain.

Takahashi Ai, the current leader of Hello! Project's mother group Morning Musume, joined Morning Musume in 2001 as a fifth generation member along with current sub-leader, Niigaki Risa, and former Morning members Konno Asami and Ogawa Makoto. She debuted on Morning's 13th single, "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band".
She delivered her first solo line in Morning Musume's next single, "Souda! We're Alive" and from that sole line, it was already evident that she had very strong vocal abilities. She soon became one of the main singers in Morning Musume, being prominently featured in most of Morning Musume singles since "Roman ~MY DEAR BOY~". To further showcase her vocal prowess, she also sang a duet with Tsunku on his solo album TAKE 1, a re-arranged version of "Love ~since 1999~, which Tsunku originally performed with Hamasaki Ayumi.

In addition to being one of the strongest (and consistent) vocal performers within Hello! Project, she has also shown herself to be a very talented and passionate dancer. Having been formally trained in ballet, you can see her love for dance during every performance.
She has been noted to be awkward during interviews. Her nickname "Tettekete" was given to her by Taka on Utaban, when during an interview, she stuttered awkwardly when answering questions. Her awkwardness has decreased over the years, but I find her awkwardness to be one of her more endearing qualities.
However, her interviewing awkwardness does not extend to her performances.
You never see Ai-chan doing lazy dance moves. She always gives 110%. This was evident during a Utaban appearance, during the promotion of “Morning Musume no Hyokkori Hyoutanjima”. Taka was being forced to learn the choreography for the dance, and had Yasuda Kei teaching. Since it wasn't a performance, Kei did not put her all in to the dance movements, but Taka and Nakai complained that there was no feeling to her dance. They called upon Ai-chan to show Kei how it was done, and Ai-chan gave it her all.
Ai-chan is also a member of the kickball team Metro Rabbits H.P. and became captain when Kago Ai was suspended.
From the moment she joined Morning Musume, Ai-chan has shown her professionalism and has only continued to develop as a singer, dancer and overall performer. In 2006, she played the lead role in Morning Musume's musical Ribbon no Kishi: The Musical.

In May of 2007, Morning Musume's former leader, Yoshizawa Hitomi, graduated, leaving Fujimoto Miki as Morning Musume's new leader and Ai-chan became subleader. However, in less than a month, Miki "resigned" from Morning Musume and Ai-chan was thrust into the leadership position.
Since becoming leader, she has been highly criticized by some fans (in the blogsphere at least) for having no personality and being an inadequate leader for Morning Musume. However, just because she isn't as outspoken as former leaders Morning Musume, it doesn't mean she's not just as good a leader. Some people lead with words, others by action. I think Ai-chan leads by example, as the most consistent and highest quality performer in Morning Musumer.
You may want others to get more lines, but you can't deny that Ai-chan has talent. While she's not as talkative or outgoing as other members of Morning Musume, or Hello! Project in general, she's got her own little quirks that give her a unique charm that has definitely left this fan appreciating her hard work and effort.

Ishimura Maiha was selected from a group of 27,958 kids to become one of the 15 Hello! Project Kids in September of 2002. As an H!P kid, she performed in Hello! Project concerts as a backup dancer. In December of 2002 she was in the movie "Koinu Dan no Monogatari" with most of the other H!P Kids.
In 2004, she, along with 7 other H!P kids, were chosen to form a new group called Berryz Koubou. Within Berryz Koubou, she played a supportive role, not getting many lines in singles. She was a quiet member in the group, not showing the kind of exuberance and silliness that the other members displayed in behind-the-scenes videos.

However, there was just something about her that made many fans notice her (such as myself), despite her more subdued demeanor. I suspect it may be her dimples. That smile is just too cute, you can't help but fall helpless at her feet when you see it. XD

Maiha graduated from Berryz Koubou and Hello! Project on October 2, 2005 in order to continue her studies full-time. At her graduation concert, she remained calm and composed, even as some of the others cried (*cough*Risako*cough*). Many fans were upset with her leaving, and hope for a return, but it seemed like it was what she wanted. There was no scandal involved with her graduation. It may just be that the life of an idol wasn't for her. However, we fans are glad that she gave it a go, and that we had the opportunity to experience the fabulousness that is Maihacchi. Though her tenure in the project was short-lived, we can't forget the quiet Berryz with the adorable dimples. :D

Back in 2002, Megu auditioned to H!P Kids with the song "Pittari Shitai X'mas!" (Pucchi Moni). She got selected, along with 14 other kids. In 2004, eight of the girls were placed into "Berryz Koubou", and Megu wasn't one of them. However, in 2003 she got already featured in the first H!P Kids unit.

"ZYX" was the name of that unit. It consisted of Yaguchi Mari and the five oldest H!P Kids. They had two singles, Iku ZYX! Fly High [2003.08.06] (a dance-y song, where they're all homeless) and Shiroi Tokyo [2003.12.10] (winter-themed, and one of H!P classic tunes).

Later in the same year, all the H!P girls made to the super H!P unit called H!P All Stars, who had only one single (All for One and One for all [2004.12.01]. Of course, Megu was there, listed under the H!P Kids group. Megu sang in one of the H!P All Stars b-sides (Suki ni Naccha Ikenai Hito) too, along with Tanaka Reina and Suzuki Airi. Some fans think this group was Aa v.02.

In 2005, Megu was selected to be a member of one H!P's shuffle units, Sexy Otonajan, along with Fujimoto Miki and Natsuyaki Miyabi. Their song, Onna, Kanashii, Otona (Woman, Sad, Adult) was released in the single "Onna, Kanashii, Otona / Inshouha Renoir no You ni / Hitoshirezu Mune wo Kanaderu Yoru no Aki" [2005.06.22].

In June 11th 2005, it was officially announced that the H!P Kids who weren't selected for Berryz Koubou would transform into °C-ute. At first, they were backdancers in Abe Natsumi's 2005 concert. A few months after, they started getting songs. Said songs were performed in H!P concerts and sold as indie singles. Megu was featured in all of them (Massara Blue Jeans - 2006.05.06 ; Soku Dakishimete - 2006.06.03 ; Ooki na ai de motenashite - 2006.07.09 ; Wakkyanai(Z) - 2006.07.29) and was a lead singer in all of those songs, too. In late 2005, Megu was featured in Takaramono (drama), where the main role was played by Abe Natsumi.

In October 31th 2006, Megu left °C-ute without a graduation ceremony. The official announcement in the H!P official website stated that she "wanted to live a normal life, and focus on school". However, a few days ago (in October 26th to be exact) some pics (took by a stalker) of Megu walking with a boy and holding hands surfaced. Many Megu fans think that this was the real reason for her to quit, because in the last Cutie Party she was on, she said she wanted "°C-ute to go big and to tour around Japan". In December, someone was mistaken as the boy Megu was holding hands with in the stalker pictures, and got beaten up by Megu fans, outside the stadium where Berryz Koubou was going to have a concert.

Megu's last work as a °C-ute member was the Cutie Queen VOL.1 album [2006.10.25.. exactly one day before the stalker pics surfaced]. She also appeared in the Cutie Circuit 2006 Final in Yomiuri Land East Live DVD, which is C-ute's first solo concert ever. She's not included in the DVD cover though. Also let me just add that whenever she sings, the camera focuses in another girl.

It's a very known fact that leaders in H!P are generally decided by age (the oldest in the group = the leader). Murata Megumi and Umeda Erika are the exception to this 'rule'. In Umesan's case, she has admitted that, at the time C-ute was formed, she didn't feel confident enough for the role. She became sub-leader instead. And ever since school, she's good friends with Yajima Maimi (C-ute's leader).

She's hasn't gotten any group leads while being in °C-ute, aside from the song Bokura no Kagayaki, which only featured Umesan, Kanna and Chisato. Some people think that she's been "cutiefied" and should instead show her mature side, considering she's the oldest H!PK. This is where Tokaikko Junjou enters, where all of the C-ute members portrayed a grown-up image.

Despite her being the second tallest H!P member and athletic looks, Umesan is known for her lack of ability for sports, and she herself has admitted she isn't good at any sport. T&C Bomber are no longer active, so Inaba primarily provides backup vocals for many Morning Musume and Hello Project songs. She was also in several shuffle groups: Aoiro 7, 7Air, and PuriPuri Pink, as well as H.P. AllStars. She also appears on Uta Doki from time to time. This is one episode featuring Yaguchi Mari and Inaba. This is one of my favorites.

Okai Chisato was selected from a group of 27,958 kids to become one of the 15 Hello! Project Kids in 2002. As an H!P kid, she performed in Hello! Project concerts as a backup dancer. In December 2002 she was in the movie "Koinu Dan no Monogatari" with most of the other H!P Kids.
In 2004, 8 of the 15 H!P Kids formed the group Berryz Koubou. In a recent interview on Music Fighter, the H!P Kids who were not selected to be in Berryz admitted that it was mortifying to see the other girls performing while they were still in H!P obscurity (they went on a field trip to watch a Berryz Koubou concert XD). However, in 2005, the rest of the H!P finally got their chance as they were put together to form the new group °C-ute.

As a member of °C-ute, Chisa has not been featured in singles as of yet. However, it is easy to see that she is one of the stronger vocalists in the group. She is able to sing with a very subtle vibrato, which most of the Hello! Project members don't do. In °C-ute's 2nd mini album, (2) mini ~Ikiru to Iu Chikara~, she gets the lead vocals in "Bokura no Kagayaki".
In addition to her excellent voice, she has a very engaging personality. She's always smiling and energetic. When she smiles, you just can't help but smile along with her. She's also not afraid to be silly on camera, as seen in °C-ute's recent Music Fighter appearance where she did a role play of riding a rollercoaster, which was later also done by some members of Berryz Koubou in the Making of "Tsukiatteru no ni Kataomoi".

In mid-2007, she was selected to be part of Athena & Robikerottsu along with Nakajima Saki of °C-ute and Niigaki Risa and Mitsui Aika of Morning Musume. Hopefully this is just the start of more Chisa in the Hello! Project spotlight.
Chisa is adorable and only a mere 13 years old. She has so much potential to develop into an amazing performer. Hopefully, management will recognize her potential and not leave her in a supporting role. It's a sin to keep a voice like hers hidden in the background.

RINNE TODA りんね
The former leader of Country Musume, Rinne has been one of the most resilient members. When her group suffered tragedy and breakup, she picked up the pieces - joined up with asami and Rika Ishikawa and blew up the spot.
I like how she is so playful yet acts like they mom. Patting bums and doing the "SHHHHHH!" move that Rika continues to do in homage to her senpai, we still love you Rinne!!

Ayumi Shibata

Ayumi Shibata is not only the youngest in the underappreciated Melon Kinenbi, she's also the "cute" member.
That's not to be dismissive of her or imply that rest of the group are withered crones with bony fingers and warty noses (the jury is still out as whether they eat children and live in a gingerbread house however). It's just that Ayumi is cute in the way expected of idols.
She's pretty, blessed with soft, youthful features, and quick with a pleasant and easy smile . It explains why she's always front and center in Melon Kinenbi's videos and typically shares the same position with more high profile H!P members in the various shuffle group she been added. In fact, in Melon Kinenbi's "Chance of Love" PV she not only takes the lion's share of close-ups and pans, but of the lyrics as well. Despite Boss Hitomi's voluptuousness, Megumi Murata's signature glasses, or even the outrageous punk hair styles of Masae Ohtani, Ayumi, aided by her prominent front teeth, is the most recognized member of the quirky Melon Kinenbi.
Ayumi has been a member of H!P since 2000 and has participated in a variety of productions since. Most notably in the "Cyborg Shibata!!" comedy-drama series where she plays, along side her fellow Melons, the lead role of Cyborg Shibata, an ordinary girl transformed into a cyborg by a mad scientist and has her abilities amplified by a power of ten.

Kikka was one of the finalist's for the Morning Musume Happy 8ki Audition. Many people were rooting for her to become one of Morning Musume's newest members, but in the end, it was Aika Mitsui who won. Fans of the lovely Yuu wouldn't be disappointed for too long, though. In April 2007, Tsunku announced that Kikka would be returning as a Hello!Pro Egg. I was overjoyed to hear that news, as the eggs were gaining more and more (much deserved) attention at the time, and the addition of a familiar and talented face would only help that.

Above is a Veoh link to performances from the Hello! Pro Egg Delivery Station! performance that included Kikka, Aoki Erina, Mori Saki, Kitahara Sayaka, and Ogawa Saki. Yuu's energy is noticeable right off the bat. Besides this concert, Yuu was also a part of C-ute's Cutie Circuit 2007 ~Magical Cutie Tour~ and performed in the Dai 1 Kai Hello! Project Shinjin Kouen concert and the Shinjin Kouen 8gatsu ~Yokohama de Aimashou~, both concerts showcasing Eggs and newer H!P memebers.
Kikka will be a talent to keep your eye on. She's obviously already impressed Tsunku and gained herself the beginnings of a fanbase. I know it won't be long until we see a lot more of her.

Lehua
Lehua Sandbo, real name Lehualani Ehukai Sandbo, was to be the last girl added to Coconuts Musume and barely edges out Danielle in time spent in the group. According to a fan's interview with Lehua, she heard about the audition to join Coconuts Musume through an aunt and initally wasn't going to apply stating that she had "just finished doing a play" but soon reconsidered. She submitted her resume after the primary auditions had already been held but she still found her way to finals and from there promptly chosen to be the next Coconut.
Oddly enough, her first single wouldn't be with Coconuts Musume but with the 2000 shuffle group Aoiro7 followed a few months later by her first Coconuts Musume single "Tokonatsu Musume."
Lehua would later be included in the 2001 shuffle group 7nin Matsuri followed with what appears to be the last Coconuts' single "Jounetsu Yuki Miraisen." In either late 2001 or early 2002, citing that she wanted to attend college, Lehua would graduate from H!P leaving Coconuts Musume
Lehua is now married to professional surfboarder Kapono Nahina -what chicks see in these hunky, athletic beachcomber types I'll never understand- and has a daughter with him. It appears Lehua is now a full-time mom but no indication as to whether she went forward with her academic ambitions or if she has a desire to work as a singer again.
Note:
The name "Lehua" is derived from the Hawaiian myth of Ōhia and Lehua. Ōhia was once the object of desire of Pele, a goddess known for her bad temper, and was rejected by him. She turned him into a tree out of spite leaving Ōhia's lover, Lehua, mourning his lost. The gods took pity on Lehua and changed her into a flower and placed it on the tree. It's said that when you removie the Lehua flower from an Ōhia tree, it will start to rain, representing the tears of the seperated lovers. "Lehua" is also the name of a small uninhabited island among the Hawaiian island chain.

Brief History
RuRu first entered Hello! Project through an audition on ASAYAN and became one of the members of Taiyo
to Ciscomoon along with Inaba Atsuko, Kominato Miwa, and Shinoda Miho. Originally from China, during
this time she became a Japanese citizen and Tsunku, producer of Hello! Project, gave her the name Honda
Ruru. Near the end of her time in Hello Project, she also took part in the first summer shuffle groups in 2000
as a member of Kiiro 5. RuRu has since left Hello Project to become a solo artist under the Avex record label
and released her first solo album, Shoshin, in April of 2007.
My Take..
She is really something special. Out of all of the voices I've heard in my life, she is one of the few who can
give me goose-bumps when she sings. Like most of the talent that's come through Hello Project, though, she
didn't get a chance to show how great she was. On top of this, Taiyo to Ciscomoon never became as popular
as the other groups within H!P despite having the largest concentration of talent and the most unique members.
Despite it all, she left Hello Project once T&C disbanded, and signed to Avex later on to begin her solo career.
Her album, Shoshin, has her covering a collection of her favorite songs and are always their equal, if not their
superior. There aren't many people out there who can nail a Whitney Houston song like she has, after all.

Brief History
In 1997, Heike won the ASAYAN auditions to become the new vocalist for Tsunku's group Sharon Q.
However, Tsunku shifted his attention over to the 5 "losers" of the audition who formed the group
Morning Musume. As time went on, Morning Musume became H!P's main artists, and promotion of
Heike began to decline. While being part of Hello! Project she hosted a reality/infotainment show
called Idol wo Sagase along with Nakazawa Yuko. In 2002, Heike left Hello Project and continued
as a solo artist under the name Michiyo. In early 2007, she announced that she was pregnant and
married the father of her child. Near the end of this year, she gave birth to a baby girl.
My Take..
This girl has talent in every way, and it wins her the ASAYAN auditions in 1997, but she still doesn't
get the attention she deserves. One of the most powerful vocals that's ever come through Hello
Project, she always comes out strong in whatever she does. Despite Morning Musume and other
subgroups taking the spotlight within H!P, she still released many great songs and performed them
beautifully. Another artist who eventually left H!P, she has continued her solo career and is still active
to this day. However, she recently gave birth to a baby girl, so I'm happy to see her become a mother.
She never had the "kawaii" image you see in most of the Hello Project girls, and it could have played
a part in her poor promotion vs Morning Musume, but her powerful vocals and strong personality are
what keep the fans coming back for more.

Sorry for the double, but I wanted to bump this.
Can we try to get this fully done? Maybe re-distribute the h!p members if the person who was going to write about doesn't have the time/will to do so anymore?
