Post by: tenkei on January 22, 2008, 06:29:10 PM: Daniel Day Lewis and Javier Bardem will snag the actor statues, I'm unsure about the actress awards but i'd totally love to see Ellen Page and Saoirse Ronan win (though unlikely since Page is nominated for a comedy, and Ronan is so young). Best director will go to either Julian Schnabel or Paul Thomas Anderson. Best pic goes to either No Country or There Will be Blood, No Country wins for me, but Blood has the edge.

what else...

oh, hope Diablo Cody wins for original screenplay, Juno's script was so fucking awesome. and Sicko should win best Docu. And obviously Ratatouille will get animated film o_o I don't really know about the more artistic awards though lol...

I really don't think they'll cancel the show like the Globes. The Oscars are so much bigger than the Globes and held in such high esteem. Most of the actors are even saying that there NEEDS to be a ceremony and are rallying for it. If they have to cancel the show due to the strike, the writers will lose just about all sympathy they had.

Now it isn't a Disney kids flick (not even bloody close), which might hinder it's chances of getting the award, but it's the best animation story I think I've ever seen..

Blanchett better win. She was already amazing in 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' but she absolutely owns 'I'm Not There'. My all-time favorite performance by Blanchett and overall one of the most amazing performances of the year. Ruby Dee and Tilda Swinton don't even deserve to be nominated but I wouldn't mind seeing Amy Ryan win.

Easily the weakest category this year. 'Ratatouille' was average and I absolutely hated 'Persepolis'. 'Surf's Up' is the only movie I enjoyed but it doesn't even deserve to be nominated. I guess the academy forgot that The Simpsons Movie came out in 2007 :thumbdown:

~~and I cried when they showed Heath :cry: and after that, in the commercials, they showed batman's trailer, that made me cry even more.~~

TWBB was amazing and NCFOM too so I didn't had any problem with that too XD; I'm so glad Ratatouille won, that movie was so cute :heart:

Well the most noticeable upsets were in the two actress categories. Thought Cate Blanchett would have taken it myself. But I wouldn't worry, she'll probably get nominated next year! Have to say, the awards given to NCFOM were thoroughly deserved.

marion cotillard wasnt an upset at all. swinton over cate for supporting defintely was, though.
