Title: Newspaper wants to know how games turned you into a criminal

Yeh I'm looking at you!

I'm tempted to write in that Mass Effect has turned me into a misogynistic, alien hating, laser gun wielding maniac. Despite the fact that I've never played it. I suspect I'd still get the money for it too.

I mean the ignorance of the popular media towards games and the industry is beyond belief.

Computer games don't make people turn to crime, the newspapers have got it bass ackwards.
When someone causes a heinous crime the papers often blame the music they listen to, the movies they watched or the computer games they played.
They've got it backwards.  Those things don't turn someone into a violent person, violent people are more likely to favour those things as opposed to calmer music/movies/games.  I'm not saying that all people who like those things are violent - most people have stable personalities and know the difference between those things and real life, but a violent killer is more likely to favour a violent game than Barbie Pet Rescue or whatever.
