How moronic can that be? Veoh is blocking a large number of countries from viewing the site, saying that they had too low traffic....so how do you increase the traffic from those countries, not letting people experience your site?
Here's the list of blocked countries:

* Chile
* Argentina
* St. Kitts and Nevis

maybe its their trying the u want more now that you can't have it approach :P
-
Looks like an attempt to get in some headlines to me. I've only used that site a few times, and it seems pretty blah.
-
With stage6 gone, I'm happy we have veoh. It has it flaws, but I got many excellent programs and concerts from there.
Blocking countries seems kinda stupid.
-
That idea is too stupid to even comprehend.
I'm just glad they haven't blocked it here (yet?)...
-
They blocked my country, and I used Veoh all the time.
Now I can't use it anymore, that's awful.
I hope there's a way to use Veoh even if you are from one of those countries listed. :-\
This sucks so much...
-
Meh... my country is blocked too. no problem for me since I don't use veoh but my friends are pissed.
I heard if you install some kind of proxy or hotspot shield it will work? I havent' tried it but someone said this app will do it:
http://www.anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/ (http://www.anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/)
good luck!

a proxy will probably get you through. Just make sure it's not from a country that's blocked :P
You can use google to search for a proxy server, and just put it into your browser's connection/network settings.
But yeah, this sounds like a pretty retarded idea. Though I don't use veoh for anything anyways :P
-
yh banning countries never work cuz it's so easy to get around those types of bans and er...what everyone else said it's just stupid.
-
Wow, I really don't get the idea behind this at all. I mean, even if not so many people were viewing the site from those countries, now they don't even have those people that were.
I'm just glad that Finland hasn't been blocked...yet.
-
It is now up to 165 countries blocked. So roughly speaking, Veoh is blocking 85% of the world from accessing their service. I really don't get what they are thinking.
-
Maybe they invested in some servers and didn't get the expected profits to invest in more for the heavier load. And now they're trying to block the little markets that are putting load on the little servers that they do have.
Sound probable right? XD
-
^ It sure does, because 'free' is not 'doesn't cost money': somebody has to pay the bills for the network connection and the file/web-server
-
they blocked all south america... HATERS that´s not nice :(
-
If they wanted to cut server load surely it'd make more sense to block USA & western Europe then there'd be plenty of server for the rest of the world.
-
^ Transmission costs within a country are normally different from accross borders, so you setup computer rooms/rent space in a country and serv from there.
For some big companies a lot of time when you download, the file doesn't even come from there servers directly but is from a cache from one of the big ISP's or network companies (like Akamai).
Aside from that, I think I read somewhere that Walt Disney is going to use VEOH for there distribution??

No i love veoh where would i go to watch animes.... youtube Noooo! lol
^why would disney do that?

I got pretty frustrated when I went to veoh one day and got a message that my country is blocked. :angry:
But then again - I went there after about four months of not using it, so it's not big of a deal for me. I stopped going there because of the quality of the content - it was better than youtube, but not much - so I just didn't go there for a long time. And when I wanted to look if something has changed for the four month - I get the ban message. Well it changed in that way I guess :rofl:
-
Same here ... and I even have a video uploaded there.
Sure we can try proxy to use it but I don't think it's worth it.
Instead it's easier to find another good site in the likes os veoh that let's us download the videos too.
By the way, anyone has any favorites ? Besides Youtube, of course ?

This.

I remember when they blocked all those country's I was upset about it, but since I moved to UK I can now acces it again. I heard they blocked those country' that didnt had enough paying members. So providing then the service wasn't worth it. Also it seems there are some workarouds, it's faster and easier to just use another site.

My country is blocked too. So sad
