A Georgia man will appear in court Monday on charges he killed his own daughter for disgracing the family.
Police said 54-year-old Chaudhry Rashad was so angered that his daughter, Sandela Kanwal, planned to divorce her arranged-marriage husband that Rashad killed her after a heated argument at the family's home, FOX News affiliate MyFoxAtlanta reported.

OK, we've seen these type of "honor killings" in Islamic countries and other culturally different places, now they're occurring in America?

This is the kind of "cultural diversity' that we want to leave to future generations?  A country can not survive should it's founding culture be permitted to be bastardized by people who bring the worst of their culture into the US and then think that it's their "right" to practice the violence that's commonplace in their (respective) homeland.

The USA will surely break apart like MoWota's when their favorite member gets friday'd- should this kind of cultural dilution be permitted to continue without intervention?

Thoughts?

A person has a right to practice their own religion. Not that I'm defending what this man did, it was horrible and pointless, but preventing someone from practicing their religion is wrong (honor killings are not part of a religion). Every country has it's criminals and, while it's unfortunate that something like this had to happen in the states, that's no reason to go on a tirade against cultural diversity. That would be like buying a bag of apples and then throwing away the whole bag just because one of them was rotten.
:/
The misdemeanors of one person from another country are no reason to suspect or mistreat a person from that same country.

Besides, if you go around preventing people from being who they are and keeping their own culture eventually they're going to get pissed off, and the backlash from thousands of repressed immigrants and foreigners could be a real possibility and it wouldn't be pretty.

That's the way I see things anyways.

^well it was never actually said it was part of their religion. But part of their culture, two related but very different things. And it was never said that we should keep Muslims out, but those kind of pracitces should not be passed on to the next generations.

This reminds of the time when some kids from my university were caught cheating on an exam and used the excuse that it was part of their culture to share their answers with each other... but this is obviously a much more serious matter.

Really though, you know the laws and rules of where you are. It's a sticky matter, but someone shouldn't be able to do something that is obviously wrong in a certain society just because that person thinks it's okay. Not saying I believe it's okay if they were some place else though.
