I've been thinking lately after applying for jobs and keeping track of where my name appears on Google, that it's a same our society has gotten to such a point that people hide their names for fear of employers looking up their personal lives, where they post, their Facebook profiles, etc.
My suggestion?
People have two names. A personal/given name that they're born with and use for social interactions, and a 'stage name' that they use for work. Employers would be forbidden from asking for or trying to find out your personal name. They'd just have your work name.
You'd choose your work name once you've settled on your career.
Some additional benefits:
Kids who have stupid parents that give them bad names wouldn't have it affect their careers later in life.
After a certain period of time, rehabilitated criminals could change their work name, meaning that they'd be able to get jobs and rejoin society (versus having every employer type their name into Google and have all the details of their crime pop up.)

I get what you're saying, but I think people should just be more careful about posting personal information and pictures on the net.

I understand what you mean. But having more names than one can be wrong.
Some people are trying to abuse that. Also it is important you don't get to live next door to a criminal who changed his name so you never can understand who it really is.
An artist name is a bit different. It's common people alter their names a bit. This is done so it can be better marketed or they get a name that's easier to remember.
On the internet everyone is using aliases, so you it's possible you don't get to who's behind these nicknames...
The use of this is good for your own privacy, since people can't find you everywhere if you do it right.

guess that your favorite nickname can work as a second name for you internet life... but maybe someones don´t want that everybody google their nicknames.

Yeah I've seen this going on in all aspects-
People have government names, stage names, screennames, nicknames and culture names-
(if a person of Japanese heritage were born with Makato Ryouma, for example; in America he'd would like to be called 'Mark')
As for criminals changing names and whatnot- usually companies conduct background checks and get about info that way- for quick google searches is just plain tacky actually...

I have like 3-4 different names people call me by outside of the internet... I wouldn't want one more for when I work. >_> Plus I think my background is pretty clean... other than the few porn forums I'm registered to...
