IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1046173/) | Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Joe_(film))
Distributor: Paramount Pictures
Release Date: 2009-08-07
Starring: Channing Tatum (Duke Hauser), Dennis Quaid (General Hawk), Ray Park (Snake-Eyes), Byeong-Heon Lee (Storm Shadow), Rachel Nichols (Shana “Scarlett” O’Hara), Sienna Miller (Baroness), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cobra Commander), Christopher Eccleston (Destro), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Karolína Isela Kurková (Cover Girl), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Jonathan Pryce
The movie will be a modern telling of the "G.I. Joe vs. Cobra" storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their "fight for freedom wherever there is trouble" against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the "Pit" as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established.

Sorry, but Destro just isn't Destro without the metal head. :)
-
marlon wayans wtf. XD
-
As much as I loved G.I. Joe when I was a kid...
I cannot be excited about this movie.
-
G.I.Joe is one of my big three, along with He-Man and Transformers. Transformers didn't have anything common with the series I loved, but this G.I. Joe certainly sets my hopes higher.
The leather-outfits are pretty nice for ninjas, but the others should wear some camouflage pattern. I'm quite sure that Destro will get his berylliuym steel mask on.

G.I. Joe Super Bowl TV SPOT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q0o9LKbFWo
Looks way better than I expected. I'm totally diggin' that over the top style :yep:
-
I'm impressed indeed. Transformers OFF THE WALL type shit.
Fuckin look at Baroness BOOBS!!
-
Destro needs the metal head, and Marlon Wayans should be "Stalker" not "Ripcord". I think they should've kept the army greens instead of the flashy body armor suits. But what the hell, it better be good! Dennis Quaid, Hell YEAH!
-
Man, it looks fucking good. :O
I suddenly got an urge to blow shit up. lol.
-
Just saw the spot on TV. And it surprised me. I'm gonna have to see this now.
-
-
Snake Eyes is the coolest ninja ever. Dude was even dodging bullets an' shit in the old comics :theking
Anyways Destro ain't the same without the mask but I suppose he will start wearing it at some point. I also hope that Storm Shadow joins G.I. Joe at the end of the movie cause he was always more awesome as a hero :yep:
Sienna Miller Needs Enhancement for ‘G.I. Joe’
“Look hot.” - Director Michael Bay’s direction to Megan Fox for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Hard on the heels of Michael Bay’s arrogant and rather appalling response to actress Megan Fox’s request for advice on how to improve her role as Mikaela Banes in next summer’s Transformers sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, yet another Hollywood vixen finds herself in a rather awkward conversation involving both her boss and her boobs.
Actress Sienna Miller (L4yer Cake, 2004; Stardust, 2007) had to wear fake breasts for her role in writer-director Stephen Sommers’ (The Mummy Returns, 2001; Van Helsing, 2004) upcoming action flick G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra. The actress, who plays a sexy and villainous Cobra intelligence officer codenamed ‘Baroness,’ reportedly listened with disbelief as Sommers told her that her small chest needed an extra boost in order to look more curvaceous on the big screen.
“(I wear a) tight black leather outfit. And much bigger boobs,” Sienna commented recently. “They gave me these things that looked like chicken fillets. The director said, ‘I’m gonna be honest, I like girls with big boobs,’ and I don’t have them so we made them bigger.”
Although Miller followed in Megan Fox’s footsteps, appearing to take the backhanded compliment with a grain of salt, she couldn’t help throwing a small jab back at Sommers: “At least he’s honest,” she said, “But I was mildly offended.”
If I looked like Sienna Miller, I’d be offended, too. Not only because my boss had just told me that I had a small rack, but also because he had the gall to be taking his stupid toy-based action movie that seriously in the first place. Breast enhancements? Please. Apparently Stephen Sommers is the biggest boob of all.

Damn, I feel cheated! No wonder Sienna's titties are lookin' so delicious in the trailer:

What? I feel the same way, they're what caught my attention... Now I'm a little less excited to see the movie if there's not gonna be much boobage.
-
dang, i always had a thing for the Baroness. She's like the sexy devilish librarian type.
I still wanna see how Cobra Commander is gonna look like. The kid from 3rd rock from the sun is CC. He seems kinda... short for the role. Also, the Mummy guy is Zartan. His face better turn blue when he gets in the sun =P
Destro Spoilers!
I heard Destro gets his metal Head in the end of the movie/last scene.
-
If they got Zartan, will they have his Dreadnoughts?
-
The trailer made me hyperventilate a little
-
I missed that trailer when it was shown, but seeing it now, it seems like it'll be something to watch when its finally out... over the top action is always a good thing, when done right.
Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, I definitely wanna see them throw down.

they had this trailer at Star Trek. It looks good. Not shure how to take the augment suits, but overall it looks like it'll be a good ride.
-
Lol I watched the trailer during Star Trek too and I have to say this looks pretty cool. I barely remember the shows though (my only experience with the series).
-
I had written this movie off long ago. The early production screenshots were HORRIBLE. Looks like they've massively improved the designs and the trailer looks cool. I might give this a shot. Action movies are always fun. :thumbsup
-
Acceleration suits? WTF? Again, I was so waiting for this, and the new trailer comes and there's this one thing that's gonna ruin the whole movie :(
Well I hope there's at least some good ninja action, something like in G.I.Joe Resolute animation.

G.I. Joe Sequel is Already Going into Development Soon
Yo Joe! I would say this was inevitable, but then again, the buzz for G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra was so bad that no one knew if it'd do well on its opening weekend. But this proves that franchise familiarity is king in Hollywood, even with bad buzz. In the LA Times report on the weekend box office (G.I. Joe ended up with $54.7 million) they say that "the studio's vice chairman, Rob Moore, confirmed that a sequel will soon go into development." This is great news for those who liked it, but bad news for everyone else. "The film's lead actors are contractually obligated to return for another film, though director Stephen Sommers is not."
I think this is the kind of movie that a lot of people will be excited for the sequel. Hell, it sets up a sequel in a big way at the end, almost as a cliffhanger. And you've just got to see the newly recruited G.I. Joe's get revenge on that annoying Zartan, right? Although they make it sound like Stephen Sommers won't return yet, let me remind you that he did come back to direct The Mummy Returns two years after The Mummy proved to be a big success for Universal as well. If I can make one suggestion to Paramount - don't bring back Sommers! If only this had better CGI and a better script, I might've enjoyed it just a little bit more.

-
I went to it last weekend. Enjoyed the hell out of it. Like any other book>movie, things aren't gonna be the same. That being said, I definetly enjoyed the ride.
-
I just watched this movie on DVD with friends. Good movie, average ratings from me, 6/10 okay story, good action scenes.
Actually some things make me thing of the manga/anime Ghost in the Shell. basically the nanobots technology, a.k.a. nanobites(GIJ) = micromachines (GITS). and GI Joes have their camouflage suits = active camouflage.
I know absolutely nothing about G.I. Joes, but is a fan of Ghost in the Shell so that's why I thought of GITS while watching it. also makes me think of a G.I. Joe vs Section 9 scenario. GIJ and GITS are both well trained, recruited from military, around the world and JSDF, the best in the respective fields and armed with the best, state-of-the-art equipment. The camouflage suits, the mobile armored suits vs the cyberized bodies, etc. Though G.I. Joe take the advantage in numbers, but Section 9 numbers also increased, they also have tachikomas and Fuchikomas as support.
also i caught that that ninja, Storm Shadow, which supposed to be japanese in character (read his info on wiki) somehow were talking in korean during his childhood scene. i thought it was weird. They're part of an Japanese Ninja clan, in Tokyo no less, and yet he's speaking korean. Nothing important really, but I just thought that was a bit confusing. Understandable if the kid don't speak japanese, and the audiences usually wouldn't notice, especially American audiences. but for those like me who are trivial and detailed, something like this makes me think either the Producer, Director and Staff are incompetent in knowing the difference or that they don't care and think no one will know, which insults the intelligence of viewers.
btw, I also notice the two stars of the Mummy movie, Brendan Fraiser and the guy that played Imoteph are in this movie.
-
Rented this one and was very dissapointed.
