I've heard it's 9/28. So we have a good month or so before it's over. I really hope they're replacing it because I rely on my weekly fix!

Title: Haromoni (Hello Morning) cancelled 9/28
Post by: ASSEMblerEX on August 21, 2008, 09:42:02 PM
I guess I'll be the one to make the post.

After low ratings and failed format change, hello
morning has been cancelled.

With five shows left to go, perhaps they will go all out and
do a special show, but given the ratings and the schedule for
editing the shows it seems unlikely.

I currently have all shows (onegai, etc) from 2000-current.

When the show goes off the air I plan on putting up a torrent
of all the shows. You can help me by getting the few I am missing.

Hello! Morning 2003-01-19 (0143).mpg *need

So far the torrent size is appx 500GB, so free up some space!

Though due to the ratings, I shouldn't probably be that surprise, but I am terribly sadden by the cancellation.

My birthday was yesterday, and I hope this is a blessing in disguise.  I hope they have a better show planned or something that can showcase them weekly and better.

And that this is not a bad signs of things to come...
I wouldn't want to spend my 21st B-day with bad news unless it's turn to something good later on (i.e. a better new show).

Yeah I can't say I'm too surprised either...maybe a month or two ago I could have been upset, but I don't even feel that tbh. I stopped watching it myself a few months ago because in all fairness I just wasn't enjoying it, still it is still a shame to see it go for those who did watch and enjoy it, as well as H!P as a whole.

I saw about 8 or 10 something episodes. So I can't say that I'm too upset... though I think I will be a bit upset if Momusume won't get more screen time... And then again - I'm looking forward for something new and it doesn't matter who's in there(though personally I'd enjoy C-ute\Berryz Koubou 30-50 minutes long program a lot more than Morning Musume one...). So let's what would they roll out when HM@ will end.

So far the torrent size is appx 500GB, so free up some space!

 500gb - I'd never be able to download this... :fainted:

I used to keep every single clip and appearance since asayan. It was up to something like 9TB.
I recently realized I have some kind of hoarding complex, so I've been thinning it out and deleting
useless stuff like 6 year old news announcements, worthless product plugs and worse..

I now have two folders. "Hot"  and "Nice". Does one need EVERY single drama appearance
by a musume member? lol.

I just realized that all those hard working people in the studio, all the people
they keep fed and clothed are going to unemployed in a bad employment
atmosphere.

Lots of ex-musume and such are on staff as writers or consultants.
They love to help everyone stay with work. People like Yuko and
Kei-chan...

This is going to be bad and I wish them luck. Maybe they can move everyone
over to the Berryz show...

Funny how berry did intros to HM and now MM will do intros to Berryz
shows now... not to mention probably being on oha star every other day...

Aww, that is sad. :cry: But it's not shocking, the show was really going down hill and getting desprate with things to do. I am a bit upset, but I'll admit, I haven't followed HM@ nearly as much as I did in the past, so I'm not TOO upset, but I'll still miss it. T_T;

tbh, I don't watch HM@ that much, also, only some parts worth mentioning.
But what I'm worried about is what this may probably spells out for MoMusu...  what it may leads to... u know... I don't even want to think it.

Although, even if MoMusu's popularity is declining, I personally wouldn't think that they'll be "disband" *knock on wood* so soon.

They're still popular and even have lots of great opportunities.  most of the girls still have radio and tv gigs to fall back on, so they'll have exposure in the media weekly.  (Too bad for JunJun and LinLin, though...)

so I sincerely hope that I'm just overthinking things and worry over unnecessary things.
GO! IKE! MORNING MUSUME!

GREAT!! Way to step it up NEW morning musume. The writing was on the wall when it went from 30 minutes to like a 5 minute Youtube discussion show. FUCK!!!

Unfortunate but inevitable.

Is there a Japanese news link somewhere online?

It was in the original HELLO MORNING YAY thread, as Ayabie posted the BLT article. So I split and merged that shit!! :pimp:

Even though nothing has been said yet, these girls need a regular show of some sort, damn it..  :(

They wouldn't have had such craptastic ratings if only the staff or whatever, actually sat down and churned out good ideas with effort and the goal to keep the show going in mind.

I've been watching the show faithfully since October 2002 so it's a shame to see it end.  The shows producers only have themselves to blame for the current ratings though.  If they hadn't made such a lousy show then maybe ratings would have been better.  Do we know yet if anything is going to replace it?

The problem with HM@ was that it seemed TV Tokyo didn't know what to do with it - they just put their n00b staff on it and hoped for a miracle. If they have another show,
-no n00bs in charge
-keep it centrally focused on MoMusu, but have frequent appearances by other H!P members as well, like H!M back in the day.
-more games and skits, with the occasional field trip somewhere interesting. Maybe put in a Futarigoto-ish part where you get to learn more about a member. And of course, keep the news segments.

I hope that the next program will have these features ^^

I said "If they have another show", not "They'll have another show". It's not confirmed yet what will be replacing Haromoni@ and the program before it.

With the average viewer percentage they've been going at I doubt a renewal is in progress, but H!P really needs that program spot or they'll have trouble promoting in the future.

I'll upload this on the tracker later.

Btw, my collection from 2000-2007 is barely 200GB, your 2008 is all in HD format? if so maybe you would like to divide the torrent into yearly episodes so that i can help to seed.

I've somehow managed to translate Oricon's article. I have it in my blog. Does someone want me to put it here?
Do mind that my translation is not that good and it's been pretty hard for me to translate it. But it seems nobody else did it.
So I decided to gather up my year-and-a-half knowledge of Japanese and with the help of an online translator(which turned out to be not so helpful...) and a big Japanese vocabulary I managed to to it.
So does anyone want it here? Or I'll just leave it in my blog.

If you want to leave it on your blog, just provide a link to the specific blog entry.

Morning Musume’s(idol group that has been existing 8 years and a half) only regular program “Haromoni@” will be cancelled in September.

    (23rd of August 2008 14:00)

The Idol unit Morning Musume’s only regular program “HAROMONI@”(Airing on TV Tokyo) is going to be taken off broadcast on Sun., September 28.

This program has started on August 2007, succeeding “Hello!Morning”(which started on August 2000). Because of a low interest in “Hello!Morning” – it was 25 minutes shortened and renamed into “Haromonia@” this happened on 7th of April. And now this program is going to be cancelled. In addition to this, new program is not yet announced.

Momusume, came out of the audition program ASAYAN(TV Tokyo) and debuted on Semptember ‘99 with release of their song called “Love Machine” and achieved to make a large break with it. “Haromoni@” since it’s beginning in ’07 has later on received a 1% rating thus leading to a later decision by Hello!Project and TV Tokyo.

In past, Momusume had an entertainment and study variety show “Mo. Taihen deshita.”(Nippon Television). They also participated in Owarai Kombi Kyain’s program “MUSIX!”(TV Tokyo). On the other hand, they have their singing careers. They have become successful in Taiwan in May, this year, they also had public and successful performance in South Korea and China in June. Which means that their popularity doesn’t end in Japan – it spreads on whole Asia. Berryz Koubou and C-ute, both groups of “Hello!Project also have a program broadcasting on TV Tokyo it has started in March this year and airs from Monday till Friday on midnights. It is called “Berikyuu!” It seems that the so to say “program belt” is probably being moved on to other groups, which means or so it seems that “change of generation” inside Hello!Project has started and is progressing.

Also other programs with the same idea that’s behind “Haromoni@” are running daily. AKB48(running in Akihabara), as well as Fuji TV’s very own idol group “Idoling!”(airing a 30 minute long program on Mondays and Thursdays) are steadily gaining attention. But Momusume still attracts out attention.

And a link to my blog if you want to read some thoughts on this and if you like - read my other posts. Sazaki's H!P Blog (http://sazaki.wordpress.com/)
I didn't exactly edit this article after translating - so if it's crappy - you tell me where - I edit it. I hope you will enjoy it. I've put a lot of effort into this... :cool1:

Thanks, Sazaki Ren, for ur translations.

oh, I really hope UFA would announce whether MoMusu would have a new show or not already... they have like a month to torture us...

btw, how does HM@ compare to AKB48's and Idoling!!!'s tv show?
not just segments and activities, but ratings as well.

Although I never actually watch their shows, I would think that their segments are different than HM@ now.  probably more to the line of the old Hello! Morning, or so I've heard.

Post by: Sazaki Ren on August 24, 2008, 09:12:18 AM
Well there was something in the text about the "same idea programs" so it's just a program-type comparison - i.e. Haromoni@ is aimed at idol group exposure and interaction and both AKB48's program and Idoling! program are also aimed at idol group exposure and interaction. And I think this is what was meant in the article.

I'm glad I could help! Thanks for appreciation!

I would enjoy a program with a studio audience. Games are fun, but Hello! Morning faded out at the end because they had nothing BUT games, and Haromoni had nothing but games at the end, I would like more talking, and guests, and a live from a H!P member or group every week ala UtaDoki.

Oh man... Just got back online and this is the first news I read!!! Although HM@ can't hold a candle to the old H!M shows, it's my weekly fix of Momusu, and now it's ending... sigh...

I hope though, that this means they'll have something better to replace it! *crosses fingers* something that focuses more on their unique character and personalities, because that's what really attracts me to them (besides their songs, of course)

go Momusu!!!!

Now that I thought a while about this, I feel that they should not get a new show of some sort.

For me, the main about MM is the music, in particular the concerts. So instead of a new television show, I'd like them to get more vocal lessons and work-outs for better stamina, resulting in awesome dancing and professional sounding concerts.

They're not just singers, they're idols. Yes, their priority is their music but they also juggle other media work. Or ideally they should, as they don't get that many opportunities these days. What's the point of improvements in dancing and sounding more 'professional' in concerts if no one outside of the wotas and some foreign fans are gonna take notice just because they are Morning Musume? Having a regular TV show is vital for MM as a group, it's how they keep in the public eye outside of their music. Just like Reina noted a couple of weeks back on her Five Stars radio show, if Haromoni@ was to come to an end (which it now is about to) that would take away the one opportunity for MM to appear regularly on TV whether or not they get good ratings and she'd have to face being asked by her friends, "You're not even on TV anymore. What do you do now?". If they were famous and popular enough that they don't need that extra exposure then they could afford the luxury to focus more on their musical developments, but any opportunity for MM of that extra exposure takes precedence over their musical development for now IMO. Music is important, but this is equally important. I for one would like to see a new TV show in plans for them, but guess we'll have to wait and see.

^I agree - they are not singers, but idols - and idols must do a lot to remain such, to have this status.
As far as I heard the plans are to take Morning Musume out of HM@ and into the slot where Berikyuu! is and that'll make three groups in one 7 minute program. This is a step I didn't expect... but it was already announced - that Berikyuu will also end - and it will be succeeded by "Yorosen" program. We'll just have to wait and see what will happen to the HM@ time slot. Will there be any programs there or did H!P lost it...

Taking them off the air will only reduce their popularity. They need a program imo.
