Title: Religious Nutcase Docs Told to DO YOUR JOB!
Post by: meowchi on August 31, 2008, 09:08:09 PM
This is yet another reason why America is falling behind in our educational and health care system.

Once again medical "professionals" are trying to bring their religious beliefs where they don't belong- in the workplace. First the Paramacist and now the doctors! Hey, will all the Christian nurses now demand that the hospitals close on Sunday? What's next? If you want to let homosexuals bleed to death in the ER, find another profession Doc!

Religious rights? Not for doctors (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=72766)
Quote from: news
A state Supreme Court today ruled that constitutional freedom of religion does not permit doctors to refuse services to homosexual clients, even when those services would violate doctors' moral and religious convictions.

In a unanimous decision, the California State Supreme Court ruled against two Christian doctors at a San Diego-area fertility clinic who refused to provide a medical procedure for artificial insemination to a lesbian couple.

I understand people have a religious objection to certain things and that's fine.
I guess if you really hate homosexuals (or any other group) that much and don't want to perform procedures on them, you need to open your own private hospital and then you can discriminate all you want. At the same time, I wouldn't want a dime of tax dollars going to the hospital.

Like how I said a few months ago, if they have their own private business, they can discriminate all they want provided they didn't and don't receive any public funds.

Thoughts?

I don't wanna sound..i don't know...but is this a common occurance in america? I mean I guess being a larger country things happen more often but I'm sure it probably has the largest religious influence on a developed leading country.

oh yh and how can you refuse to give treatment to someone based on their sexuality.  Many people with heavy religious and moral thoughts treat prisoners and such. Doesn't make sense to me.

What was more worrying was this:

How the Bush admin wants to cut down on contraception for women, under the auspices that such contraception is a form of abortion. (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=16726.msg501454;topicseen#msg501454)

FWIW, I'm looking forward to Bill Maher's movie (http://www.lionsgate.com/religulous) this fall that touches on the topic of religion.

That's awful, I assume these things happen all over the world and probably scarily often. I went to a Catholic school all my pre-university life (age 4 - 18) and I came to realize that religion is a really very destructive force, really.

A doctor's duty is to save lives and any life that needs saving, although it's tough they need to do their job and leave their outside concerns out of the hospital.

Doctors and religion should not ever mix. They should be shot on sight just like their fellow religious missionaries.
I wonder if they even know the meaning of 'professionalism'. I guess not judging by their actions :O.
