I believe Laura Vanamo is the first person in the world to make it through an Idol* audition by singing a Hello! Project song!
See pics of this awesome girl: http://www.mtv3.fi/ohjelmat/idols2008/uutiset.shtml?719493
To be honest, I doubt she'll make it very far in the competition because her singing wasn't that great, but it's still a great day of victory to us cracky H!P fans :muffin:
Also, she's probably got more personality in her pinky finger than all the other people who have made it through put together. XD She's got the cheery H!P attitude down... Representin'
Witness this moment on youtube (thanks to ctz so much for recording and editing the vid):
EDIT: The video has been removed from youtube :/
...But it's been uploaded to sharebee, buahaha! 38mb
http://sharebee.com/5be4ce64
*refers to the Idol format that everyone knows from shows like American Idol, Australian Idol, Swedish Idol...
---I know this isn't really 100% Hello! Project news, but I'm so fucking excited, I don't care. And it's not like there's much happening in H!P right now anyway... Except Sayumi's boobs!---
-
/me awaits video footage. :)
-
-
From the talk on IRC even I can't wait to see what this is all about. Go shirenu, go coot!
/me waits for youtube vid to finish
Edit: That wasn't half bad. Now.. All that is left is that someone subs it. Pwetty pwetty pwease!

i approve

Awesome! XD
She's so pretty! :w00t: And she sings great to! It's so great that she made it!
The closest thing to this we had in sweden was a guy singing the pokemon song and acting really embarassing. (he did not pass). It was so humilitaing just to watch. Now everyone around here are going to (keep) believe japanese lovers are freaks. =/
Anyway, what was that song they played in the beginning??? It's SOOOOO familiar!
I know it's H!P but GAAAH I can't place the song!
And an sing it to but can't remember the name or the artist! An old MM song?
Wait! I got it while typing! XD It's POCKY GIRLS!
This can't be good xP
-
That is AWESOME.
She is definitely adorable, and her voice is pleasant and pretty unique. I'd definitely like to hear her sing something else. It's also pretty sweet that she got through.
(Anyone know when US Idol tryouts are? I totally want to sing Some Boys! Touch).
-
I couldn't get a single word, but still I say that girl's got charisma.
Yay for wotaism!
-
Hooray for wotanism!
I liked her voice, and could tell that she had bundles of confidence. She would have need to have been, singing a Japanese song which could potentially go out to Finnish TV! Would have liked to have known the judges reaction to the song itself though, I got the idea the judges liked her personality. If only H!P knew. Who knows, should she progress further she could maybe get a video message from MM, like a vote of confidence thing. How awesome would that be? XD
And mini*wheat you really should do it. Represent JPHIP and all!

I think there's a bit where she stops singing, but you see the judges say something and she continues. That's because the female judge says she wants to hear more XD So at least she liked it, hehe. But she wasn't going to let her through, it was the two male judges who did. (She's the most strict judge about singing)
I should probably translate this thing

At least I put a link on 2ch so wota could find out about it, but I have to go to bed now so I guess the thread will already be dead by the time I wake up. If someone wants to keep an eye on it, here it is. (http://schiphol.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/morningcoffee/1221994047/l50) The link is in comment #794.

i  speed singing XD
shura also approves \o/
-
She was pretty cute and her voice wasn't half bad, especially by Hello! Project standards.
-
When I watched her audition, I thought, "this girl looks familiar", and then I saw the dress XD
Im pretty sure it's the same girl, but two days ago or so, I watched a fan dub of Anataboshi. I thought the girl singing Koharu's part sounded so much like her and saw her other videos including her dancing/singing to Koi*Kana:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68622_q7U1g&fmt=18 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68622_q7U1g&fmt=18)
Anyways I think it's her. The dress part was what made me think it was her for the most part, plus she's from Finland.
If it's not her, then.... she has a twin out there XD
It's pretty cool that she made it singing an H!P song.
-
Not bad! her voice is suited to sing it, and her pronounciation is (i think) great!
and the best part is her confidence and attitude =D wow that's great how she passed XD this brightens my day, hahaha.

It's definitely her, it's revealed on the show :D
I quickly translated it for you guys, not perfect but w/e
L= Laura
I = interviewer
J1 = the heavy metal judge
J2 = the female judge
J3 = the other male judge
I: What are you going to sing?
L: This one Japanese song
I: I noticed that your style fits that, too.
L: Yeah. I'm all Japan. ^_^
L: The song that I'm going to sing at the audition is in Japanese, surprise surprise.
It's called "Koi Kana" and the inspiration came from seeing the music video and the dress in it.
I learned the entire choreography just for the dress. I shot a video at home wearing
it and singing and dancing at the same time.
I basically want to be a loveable person and someone to look up to; a good rolemodel to all teens.
J2: Hello, who are you?
L: I'm Laura! ^_^
J2: You look cheerful! What are you going to sing to us?
L: I'm going to sing a song called Koi Kana. It's in Japanese.
J2: Japanese?
L: Yes. ^_^
J2: Ah..... Okay...
J1: Go ahead. The stage is yours.
*sings the 1st bit*
J1: Not bad. Um...
J3: That's some real stuff...
J2: I want to hear some more! Sing a little bit more!
*sings more of Koi Kana*
J3: That's like speed on vinyl record :D
J2: Awesome
J1: I actually have a fair collection of cantopop myself. Where did this interest of
yours in promoting Japanese pop music in Finland come from?
L: There's too little of it! Everyone just listens to rock like DIIIRREEENGREEYYY but
I much prefer listening to something happy, with little girls bouncing like "HI!!"
~ROFL~
J2: Is that what will win Idols this year?
L: Well, it can be won with something else, too. I might rather win it with Finnish
songs, but this was just a song that I personally like.
J2: Hey, sing something to us in Finnish. I wanna hear if you sing everything with the same sound.
J1: Sing something in Finnish. You're crazy, but we'd love to see you again if you can sing something in a language that we
understand for more than one word, "arigatou".
L: Ok.
*sings more*
J1: Do you have some hidden helium input into your lungs or where does this sound come from?
J3: Helium's a module. (i dunno what this means)
L: I've just already listened to Japanese pop for like three years and the sound really catches on... I think I could also
sing with a lower voice, but I like having a high voice. (Sry I don't catch the end of this)
J3: Imagine what it'd be like if you tried helium!
L: I have tried it! Yeah, it's pretty legendary.
J2: The question now is if we can put you through.
L: Of course you can! You have to... I promise to be nice. *nod*
J2: It's not about whether you can be nice or not. I'm just wondering what else you can
sing with that voice.
L: I believe I could manage almost anything.
J1: Where I come from is that even if you couldn't manage anything, you have so much
guts that that alone justifies you to make it through. I say 'Yes', absolutely!
J3: I have to say that you have a unique voice and...
J2: No doubt that would be something that we always expect! I still say 'No'.
J1: Humourless.
J2: So humourless.
J3: I liked this so much that I have to put you through.
J1: Yes! Absolutely! We'll see you at the theatre.
L: Thank you!
Byes
L: I made it! ^_^
J3: You could pretty well turn her into a "virtual artist", half artificial and then
her, sell that to kids and /¤"&(! (I think what he means is that you could make shitloads of money this way. And he's right, just look at Japan)
J1: Yep.
L: I am what I am. I'd like it if people wanted to be like me, in a good way of course.
-
haha way to go! That's the spirit. Also DIR EN GREY bashing, awesome
Thanks for the translation shiiiirenu
-
Awesome, just awesome.
1. Her singing was pretty good actually XD
2. The vicking guy in the jury is so cool. I used to be into the whole "children of Bodom / Nighwish / Finland is awesome" thing.
---it's not like there's much happening in H!P right now anyway... Except Sayumi's boobs!---
Quote of the week
-
I can't wait to see the theater weekend episode! Everyone in my school had really liked her, even the ones that tend to bash on everything from Japan were agreeing that she had THE attitude. We don't even normally discuss stuff like Idols, but this time everyone had either liked her or one man that was singing before her a lot. And she really does have some personality there compared to the people they usually let trough. I wish that we could hear more of her singing in Japanese, but I think that from here on it will probably be in either Finnish or English.
-
Thanks for the translation! hahaha I didn't know she was talking about dir en grey XD.
-
That's awesome.
-
thnzx for the translation!
theyre really nice judges in finland compared to the ones we have here in holland
and that girl has such a bubbly and confident attitude . i'm glad she got through!
i'm curious how she'll cope with the theatre round. keep us updated shirenu! 8)
-
Hahahah I'm glad that y'all are so supportive of her :D
I'm hoping that she could stick to Japanese, but I really doubt she will be allowed to. Additionally, since the perfs are with a live band or piano (well except probably for the first round in theatre), it would really narrow down her options.
During the theatre weekend, I think either she'll get kicked because she seems vocally less capable compared to some others (not that the talent in general so far has been great; it's been pretty damn disappointing actually), OR she'll make it further when she'll shine with her kirarin charm as opposed to other better singers, who are helplessly boring. LOL It'll be the old question of charisma VS vocal ability, I think :O (This is why I'm into H!P, because I choose cuteness/charm over vocal ability)
And I guess I should've written something and not just pasted the link on 2ch. They've completely ignored it  OH WELL.
EDIT: I wonder if her getting a long & good edit might mean that she actually did ok in theatre (assuming it has already been filmed)? Then again Finnish editors generally suck and don't work like the American ones at all (ya know how you can predict 3 mins into each America's Next Top Model ep who are going to be in bottom 2). So maybe I'm just overanalyzing when there's nothing to analyze. lol
-
Thanks a mill for the translation noodles! I really appreciate it!
-
The video's been removed from youtube, so it's been uploaded to sharebee, if someone missed it & wants to see.

Or on X Factor when in the pre-interview the man/woman talks about wanting to support his/her mother(or father/son(s)/daughter(s)) and wanting to make a better life than their current one and breaks into tears whilst a Westlife or Leona Lewis ballad is playing in the background, and only to breakdown again in the actual audition after singing when Simon Cowell turns his head like some Julius Caeser and says 'You're special'.
Guaranteed to be in the final two.
As for this girl, I'm not so sure. Usually the quirky or shall I say 'odd' characters get their air time as well and usually go on to get rejected. The fact that she wasn't is probably good news but we'll have no way of knowing for sure until the program is shown. Make sure to keep us updated Shi! :D
-
-
Hehe, I know that girl~!!!! She's a member of O!P and is in Hanamon with me~!!! She makes our O!P family proud
-
I saw that yesterday on youtube.
XD
I was kind of like "OMG H!P ON NON-JAPANESE TV!"
Now I wish someone would do it on Canadian Idol, t'would make my day.

Somone? Step up Maimai! XD

^
TOTALLY!!
XD
People would run screaming from the room.
...
Now I'm considering it.
You might just live to regret that!
Also, I commented on the video posted on the other page and she replied back confirming that yes, it was indeed her.
EDIT; links are being weird on my computer T_T
-
Yay~!!!! Hina is SO cute in that video!!!!! No wonder the judges loved her attitude ^o^
O!P representin' FOOOOOOOOOO~!!!!! :muffin: XD
Ganbatte Hinaaaaaaa~!!!!! :on GJ:
-
They actually bothered to play an H!P song at the beginning (Yes! Pocky Girls)
haha wut
And it wasn't that good imho. It was a bit fast.. and you could tell she was nervous. She went way out of key the second time she sung too. :yep:
-
A bad premise to Kohagirl, the theatre part will have one different judge... The dude who was talking about her marketability won't be there, and instead there will be a judge who got famous for being mean during a previous season of Finnish Idol. lol
Anyway she'll definitely have a hard time making it any further ^^;; This bald judge is strict about vocals.
-
I'm impressed with the producers of this show. Can you imagine the American incarnation letting a J-song performed in prime time? No way in hell!
-
Hehehe yeah...
First ep of theatre weekend was aired. She survived the round where they're lined up & sing without bg music. But during the group round, when her group performed, they didn't do well at all  They didn't show the results of who made it in this ep, but yeah.. It's not looking good for her. lol
I tried to save some clips but none of them work for some reason..... gg shirenu!!
-
-
...
Wow
That was interesting.
I can't help but admire her though.
XDDD
-
That was cute! How awesome, she's famous :o
-
Thanks for the upload! She has a cute singing voice and a happy personality. :)
-
I have been hearing random people burst into singing Koi Kana everywhere all winter. Places that I have encountered the Kohalove taking over the world include the swimminghall, bus stop and some times on the streets. Nobody seems know more words than 'Koi Kana', but it's nice to see how wide-spread the song is :D
-
^That's so awesome! :o
-
-
-
^It's cute apart from the video generally being pretty crap(quality wise I mean)
-
^^ wow the video is so H!P, way to go!!!
-
...
I'm really kinda jealous.
XD
That's really cool (not so much the video itself, more like the fact that she got to do it).
What's it for anyways?
-
That's farking awesome that she got through, meaning that no matter what you sing, you'll get through on Finnish Idol.
I wish we had one like that here.
-
FINLAND'S GOT TALENT
-
If her version was released as a CD+DVD, I'd totally buy it!
