Paul Newman dies at 83
(CNN) -- Paul Newman, the legendary actor whose steely blue eyes, good-humored charm and advocacy of worthy causes made him one of the most renowned figures in American arts, has died of cancer at his home in Westport, Connecticut. He was 83.
He died Friday, according to spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic.
Newman attained stardom in the 1950s and never lost the movie-star aura, appearing in such classic films as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Exodus," "The Hustler," "Cool Hand Luke," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Sting" and "The Verdict." Rest in peace, Mr. Newman. :prayers:

Absolutely one of the greats of American cinema. And what a life! A lotta people knew him as much for salad dressing and popcorn, and that he donated all the profits to charity.
People poo-poo'd his Academy Award for "The Color of Money" but I really liked his work as the aging Fast Eddie. Great delivery of memorable lines. Of course he should have won for "The Verdict."
So many movie memories... lower the flags cause a giant has left us.

Paul Newman, truly a legend. Great acting with Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Smooth as butter.
And to be married to Joanne Woodward for so long. Cancer is a bitch :-X
Man, I'm priveleged to even seen a glimpse of him last year at the Edmonton Champ Car race. A real legend in the race car circuit too. Saw him zip by on a scooter, then with the champion of the team he owns - He's in the red hat and shades there. And in the white on the right pic.
