Putfile Says Goodbye To Singapore
At dawn on December 2nd 2005, Singapore hanged a citizen of Australia, despite a plea for clemency from the United Nations. Whilst Putfile is not a human rights campaigning organization, we believe that if a country must have the death penalty, there is no need for it be barbaric. It is enough of a punishment, and a deterrent, to take someone's life in a painless manner, without having to be barbaric about it. Putfile prefers to not continue to provide our free uploading service to a country that executes prisoners by hanging, a method of execution which can take up to six minutes to painfully execute the victim.
For this reason, we are at this time terminating all service to users from Singapore. We shall be happy to restore service following any positive move from the government of Singapore towards abolition of hanging as an execution method.
Goodbye Singapore,
Putfile.
Good job, Putfile! Ban all them murderers from Singapore!

Err, seems odd no?
First off, your punishing particular users for their countries national policy. It was a stupid idea when some US companies did it re: France, and it's stupid here.
Secondly, I think Darwin would have something to say. He tried to smuggle half a kilo of heroin to Singapore. Sorry, but most vegetables and inanimate objects are smarter than that.
And for a third point, hanging isn't especially painful. The neck snaps almost immediately. Cruxification is painful, hanging isn't particularly.
Which remind me of:
Ed: That's no way for a man to die.
Drebin: No.. you're right, Ed. A parachute not opening... that's a way to die. Getting caught in the gears of a combine...having your nuts bit off by a Laplander, that's the way I wanna go.

Oh come on, it's not like the citizens of Singapore are the fault.

Bah! Humbug...

Not being from there myself, I'm willing to say that this is probably no big loss for Singapore. It's not like Putfile is the only uploading service out there anyway. They're seriously over-estimating their worth if they're making such a big deal over this.

I guess Putfile isn't doing this because of singaporeans, they just wanna shine in australians' eyes.
