TAKE PART IN WELCOMING MOMUSU TO LA --
In the wake of learning about Morning Musume's arrival to downtown Los Angeles come early July, many things have been put into motion. The most prominent of these would be JPH!P's decision to attend to the even en masse. Along with this decision for our hordes of loyal pervs to make the pilgrimage comes the decision to present our 9 idols with gifts.
JPH!P has decided that the best way to offer unto our girls our affections is to bestow upon them a gift basket of epic proportions. The basket will consist of 4 stages.
Stage one - Limited Edition JPH!P/MM t-shirts. (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=18528)
Stage two - Stuffed animals
Stage three - Personalized journals (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=18527)
Stage four - FUCKING FOOD!! Gifts
This thread is for the purpose of discussing the basket as a whole, but more so for stages two and four.
First, we must decide what kind of stuffed animals to give each girl. The obvious choices are well...obvious and shall not be changed (unless we hear good arguments for doing so) and are thus:
Kamei Eri - Turtle
Michishige Sayumi - Rabbit/Bunny
Tanaka Reina - Cat/Kitten
Takahashi Ai - Monkey
Suggestions:
Mitsui Aika - Tiger or Lion...according to Fenrir, Aika has been collecting lion and tiger stuff lately.
One suggestion is that we should follow the animal scheme of Haromoni@ in which case the list would be as follows:
Takahashi Ai - Deer
Niigaki Risa - Squirrel
Kamei Eri - Raccoon-dog
Michishige Sayumi - Bunny
Tanaka Reina - Cat
Kusumi Koharu - Fox
Mitsui Aika - Panda
JunJun - Lesser Panda
LinLin - Toy Poodle
We'd rather not do this because....how can we not give a stuffed turtle to Eri?
So, we need suggestions on what to give the other girls and why. And please don't suggest giving JunJun and LinLin pandas...
Secondly, we want to stuff this basket with lots of candy and snacks. What kind of candy and snacks do you think belong in this basket? Nothing from Japan that they can get easily at their own convenience stores and nothing that they wouldn't be able to take out of the country (ie, beef jerky)Secondly, other small gifts.
So please, everyone, give us some suggestions as to what to give Morning Musume, this basket is a gift that represents JPH!P as a community! Even if you can't make it to LA, this is your chance to take part in this milestone event!
PS.
The gift basket is being spearheaded by myself and Fenrir, we will be dealing with most of the stuff between the two us. Also, JPH!P will be accepting donations in the near future (once some other things have been finalized), to help fund this gift to Morning Musume. These donations are COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY, but I would like to say every little bit helps and we appreciate anything you can contribute.

Well quoted from the pocket morning Q&As there's the animal they'd take care of at the zoo and the animal they'd like to transform into.
TA - Elephant - Monkey
NR - Penguin/dolphin(her answer was confusing) - Penguin
KE - Dog - Sloth
MS - Elephant - Sloth
TR - Lion/bear - Lion(male)
KK - Dolphin - Nassan(cat from kirarin)
MA - Lion/white tiger
JJ - Lesser panda - koala
LL - Koala - Kangaroo
I think the 4 obvious choices are a must-do :D
-
oh! thats a good one blu, thanks
-
ah thanks blu!
A kangaroo would be good for Linlin cuz she's so bouncy.
And Koala might be cool for Junjun. Cuz they both look so cute, then can turn mean in an instant lol
How are we gonna tag these so each girl, know which animals are hers?
-
That's some good shit tenman/Blu Cherri! I'll be happy to chip in as much as possible. A gift basket shaped like the JPH!P logo, paper mâchéd XD
How big stuffed animals they gonna be? Any of them like stuffed beavers or moose?
-
Any of them like stuffed beavers?
I do.
-
@jabronisaur Maybe you could get their initials embroided onto the chests of the animals??
-
Can you get animals embroidered after they're made? :?
If not, then I'm sure you could get little sweatshirts or something to put on them with their names, plus, you could add the JPH!P logo :)
-
^The little sweatshirts thing is a really good idea, that would be really cute! That or little boxer shorts. XD
Life size! (jk) For the longest time I've been entertained with the idea of someone showing up in a giant turtle suit or something. I'm guessing big enough to hug comfortably, but small enough to carry around, too. It would be a pain in the ass to ship back with them if it were too big.
-
^You could look through the animals they have here
http://www.akinaiblog.com/category/Kigurumi%20-%20Costumes/Kigurumi
might be a turtle??
-
Food!!! XD How about chocolate kisses? I don't know if you can get those in Japan. Most of the girls, if not all, like chocolate and duh, they're kisses~!
-
so far, fen and I have discussed See's and Ghirardelli chocolates, two famous CA chocolate brands.
-
TIMTAMS! Representin' the Australian folks! Although I don't think you can buy them in the US XD
Also I've seen stuffed banana toys before... I think if we could find that somewhere it would be perfect for JunJun but obviously harder to find than animal toys
-
I could send over some union jack keyrings or something??
-
TIMTAMS! Representin' the Australian folks!
TIMTAMS  delicious!
If I happen to bump into something small and Finnish I'll consider sending it, but I won't be deliberately looking... Just because I'm not sure if I could choose something nice that would have some meaning to them, and wouldn't be too expensive (that tourist crap here always is) lol
-
I would actually highly suggest no food - I don't know that their managers would let them eat it, due to possible crazy fan poisoning and the like :( Silly, but true.
I'd suggest other gifts - charm bracelets, every fan pitches in to buy a charm? Something. But food...maybe not so much.
-
I went home a few days ago and found where I had stashed the bear I've always intended for Sayumi and brought her back with me.
Presenting: Princess Sayumin~

I don't think you should get the plushies embroidered. It's too much trouble. And dressing them up in little clothes is expensive too. It's cute enough to buy some ribbon and strategically place them as bows with name tags and what not. So then like the ribbons can be color coded to their concert t-shirt colors.
If you don't like that, you can probably get like little sterling silver necklaces for $10 each and have the letter of their first name on it. so then it'd be... 爱 (Ai in Kanji), R, S, a crown (for reina), E, K, A, J, and L? then put it on the plushie so that they know which one is theirs.

yeah' i've thought about that about food too. We'll see closer to the date

yeah, dressing + embroidery is a little much/expensive. The way fen and I plan to set up the basket, I don't think there would be confusion as to what belongs to which girl. but good ideas! i like the necklace one.
-
Also, I was reading on other forums and a post from another fellow AX staffer; apparently, people weren't allowed to forward/give gifts to Shokotan while she was here. The policy is up to the guests and AX; mostly the guests I feel, but yeah. Just another thought to keep in mind.
However, I don't think they will deny fanletters. Everybody loves fanlettes. XD
I'll keep my eyes peeled on the subject.
-
Fanletters made out of T-shirts and stuffed toys XD
-
I might have 2 stuffed little animals (pink bunny, white bear) and a red and white dice bracelet I'm up for bringing. I'm thinking of giving the dice to tanaka, the stuffed bear animal to either jun jun, or ai, and of course the bunny to USA-chan(!) sayumi. :sejinemo: :usagiii:
But I'm up for other options? Any ideas?
Do we pool presents together or what?
-
I remember that Ai-chan wanted to have a kitten, I don't know if she has already get it, but that can be something that we can give to her as a gift.
-
I wish I could give something, but I know it won't get there in time...
-
Well if the candy is individually wrapped or something, would they still refuse it?
I thought that a copy of the "I can haz cheesburger" photobook would be cute, but english is tough enough without having to learn LOL speech.
-
what about the gift idea the ppl that were gonna go to buono was gonna use?
something about taking pictures of their own cities and what not? i think thats pretty original. maybe we can expand on that idea
-
^
^
LOL! XD That's not a bad idea. *tries to imagine the girls trying to speak lolspeak* It'll totally be our fault when they go around speaking lolspeak thinking it was real English.
I could only assume that pre-packaged candy might be okay (and would make sense), but who knows.
@Mugen, that's a pretty good idea too. Maybe take pictures of certain landmarks around your area?
-
WERD. WE can all give elements of our homelands to them. LET EM BE CERTAIN!!
That there is not just fans in North America. But from AROUND THE WORLD! Hockey sticks!
We saw Yossi get Victoria's Secret, so fuck I'm totally getting Ai-chan and Eri some lingerie :halo:
PLUS!
I heard Jab, no food. But you never know - I saw peoples bake / bring cookies at Sakura Con. Just to be on the safe side though! Better not.
Enough talking! We gotta fill these gift baskets up! :cow:
-
Oh shit! LINGERIE??! That opens a whole new dimension of gift giving. Maybe we can include special panties for certain members. Oh man Eri in a thong!
-

I like this idea too. Maybe just as an excuse to go around Austin taking pics of all the cool stuff around here gets me excited, but I'm down with this if others are too.
-
^ I like that idea too. I've already spawned some ideas since I was gonna take pics for Buono!
-
werd. this could go well with the scrapbook gift idea.
-
I guess we should get stuff that each girl likes too, no?
Aichan likes books...
Eri likes looking at cook books... XD
Sayu.. wtf does sayu like? should we get her a mirror?
Gaki... Oh this is sad... im not sure what Gaki would like  maybe a year long pass to disney world in florida?
Reina likes western clothing
Junjun likes... BANANAS!
Linlin... food...
Aika... a memory game LOL
okay so these idea are lame... but here is where you guys would come in with the good ideas, no? XD
-

Just in case nobody saw this yet over in the letter/message thread, we are planning to include pictures of yourself, the area you live in, or even postcards into the scrapbook. It'll make the message book much more colorful! :D
Anyways, check for more details in the letter/message thread. *too lazy to make a link, sorry*
-
^yeah need to get on my stuff.
Geesh, I really hope this freaking thread kicks up with ideas in a couple of weeks cause... if they dont, we're gonna be left with not much to give them as gifts. =/

A lady I work with is into scrap booking. I recently showed her a pic from a blog (Hello! Blog, A UK fan that usually has a lot of great info) It was a card he got as a gift. It had two robots kissing and the card had Love Machine on the cover. This morning she showed me two versions. When I get the final results I'll post pics. Need help with what to stamp for each one(getting one for each girl)

Since I have been researching gift Ideas for jpm, ten suggested I send ya'll this, it's a long post but it should help people.
Since this has been brought to my attention. I found this article for gift giving etiquette.
Cross Cultural Gift Giving Etiquette (Source Link (http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/cultural-services/articles/cross-cultural-gift-giving-etiquette.html) )
Within the interdependent, global and multi-cultural marketplace of the 21st century, cross cultural differences in the approaches to and practices of business people across the world are important to learn.
A lack of cross cultural understanding can lead to misunderstandings which may result in offense. Cross cultural awareness and an understanding of foreign etiquette is important for today's globe trotting business person.
One area of importance in cross cultural awareness is in the different gift giving etiquettes of the world. Understanding gift giving and the etiquette surrounding it can help international business people cement better relationships with foreign colleagues, clients or customers.
Cross cultural gift giving etiquette involves considering the following points:
. Who is receiving the gift? Is it a person or a group? What is the status of the receiver(s)?
. What types of gifts are acceptable or unacceptable?
. What is the protocol associated with gift giving and receiving?
. Should gifts be reciprocated?
In many countries such as in North America or the UK, gift giving is rare in the business world. In fact, it may carry negative connotations as gift giving could be construed as bribery. However, in many other countries, gift giving and its etiquette have a central place in business practices.
In order to highlight some of the different aspects of cross cultural gift giving etiquette a few examples shall be presented.
Gift Giving Etiquette in China
. It is the proper etiquette for gifts to be exchanged for celebrations, as thanks for assistance and even as a sweetener for future favours.
. It is however important not to give gifts in the absence of a good reason or a witness.
. When the Chinese want to buy gifts it is not uncommon for them to ask what you would like.
. It would be wise to demonstrate an appreciation of Chinese culture by asking for items such as ink paintings or tea.
. Business gifts are always reciprocated. Not to do so is bad etiquette.
. When giving gifts do not give cash.
. Do not be too frugal with your choice of gift otherwise you will be seen as an 'iron rooster', i.e. getting a good gift out of you is like getting a feather out of an iron rooster.
. Depending on the item, avoid giving one of something. Chinese philosophy stresses harmony and balance, so give in pairs.
Gift Giving Etiquette in Japan
. Gift-giving is a central part of Japanese business etiquette.
. Bring a range of gifts for your trip so if you are presented with a gift you will be able to reciprocate.
. The emphasis in Japanese business culture is on the act of gift-giving not the gift itself.
. Expensive gifts are common.
. The best time to present a gift is at the end of your visit.
. A gift for an individual should be given in private.
. If you are presenting a gift to a group of people have them all present.
. The correct etiquette is to present/receive gifts with both hands.
. Before accepting a gift it is polite to refuse at least once or twice before accepting.
. Giving four or nine of anything is considered unlucky. Give in pairs if possible.
Gift Giving Etiquette in Saudi Arabia
. Gifts should only be given to the most intimate of friends.
. Gifts should be of the highest quality.
. Never buy gold or silk as a present for men.
. Silver is acceptable.
. Always give/receive gifts with the right hand.
. Saudis enjoy wearing scent - itr. The most popular is oud which can cost as much as £1000 an ounce.
. It is not bad etiquette to open gifts when received.
The above are a few of many examples of cross cultural differences in gift giving etiquette. It is advisable to try and ascertain some facts about the gift giving etiquette of any country you plan to visit on business. By doing so, you maximise the potential of your cross cultural encounter.

and here are some suggestions.
Gifts for the girls.
Candles, Soaps, jewelry ( many kinds are acceptable, if you have the cute ones in your mall, those are usually not to expensive.),
Coffee's, Chocolate ( like see's or maybe from a place you really love. I think non perishable food stuffs should be alright. ),
it will be summer, try summer goodies, like towels, or beach balls.
Maybe makeup, since they don't have some of the brands we do in japan, maybe nail polishes for reina and risa, soaps and body scents for
ai and eri, cute little girly package things for linlin, aika, and koharu, Banana stuff (not foodstuffs.) for junjun, anything pink and cute for sayu.
I saw these cute lip glosses at walmart, I am going to add to my stuff for each girl.
good places to find things, Walmart ( each one carrys stuff that is regional, so you can find unique stuff there.)
If you have a big or even a little mall, any of the little stores there, like amuse (jewelry store) or build a bear,
if you live in LA like I do citywalk has this store that has nothing but socks. It's awesome.
Try hot topic also, they carry a lot of interesting things, like band shirts and fairy things.
or hand make something, if you have skills in that area. that way its more personal.
fake flowers are also good.
more suggestions are greatly appreciated.
-
good post sayah, nice suggestions.
we've already decided not to put in any food though
-
im not peachy on the idea of food either, lol this is also at jpm, so jphippers can just disregard the chocolate idea.
but the rest should be helpful. I will strike out the choco line.
-
So...money flowers would be a good/bad idea?
-
I think the I Can Haz Cheezburger idea is pretty awesome. Maybe we could just include a disclaimer in Japanese that the wordings fail in grammar and shouldn't be taken seriously? Hmm but then the question is, could she still appreciate that? I think I'm just love lolcats too much ><
I also think the pictures from all over the world are a great idea.
Sorry, I don't really have anything original to suggest right now ^^
-
ok I believe I picked the wrong thread! so try this idea on ok. lemme know what ya'll think.
im not sure where to post this cause it's simply an idea. but hey.... if its not here lemme know I will put it in the right spot.
I just had a fabu Idea.
What if the forums, as a whole made a karaoke, of ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL?
and forums can elect their soloist. and we put it all together burn it on a cd and give it to the TSOONK!
I think that would be cool to show our devotion as fan forums.
feel free to pass the suggestion along.
if people agree we would only have 3 weeks to get the parts sent to me so I can mix them in garage band and master the tracks.
I am totally all for help. and what not since I have never mixed more than just myself.
please ask any questions you want just let me know what you think?
I also had posted this in JPM. if anyone is on other forums that might want to join just post this for them :P
-
Totally sayah. Bring our voices together! Too bad I can't sing.
So...money flowers would be a good/bad idea?
Doesn't hurt to try!!
I'm investigating Huskys, what other stuffed toys do the girls like?
-
should i put this in the freestyle flow forum. so people can know what parts will be for jphippers. and where to send it so on and so forth? I know I have takers in jpm. im waitng for any word on the other forums, if they arnt down then it can be a jphip/mm joint :)
-

lotions and candle oils
Good luck with that. Anything with chemicals and food are usually a giant no-no due to their ability to be easily poisoned/tampered with. Never know, but I can't imagine UFA being any different for that kinda stuff.
I'm sure AX will let us know if that's okay just as soon as they hand out some times for autographs and shit.
