Whadup. This shit is exactly what I need. I'll be in Socal with my 3 Swedish gays from ~June 22 to July 12. Apparently they made me travel leader so whomever and whatever ideas and meetups are appreciative from my part. We got issues to work out yet, more details from my part when i know more.

But basically, any fun within legal boundaries and we're down!!

So with talks in the other thread, I propose going to an Izakaya(for those that don't know, they're like a restaurant that serves alcohol). If you're not 21, it's okay you can go too, just can't drink(if they actually ask for id). Can also go Karaoke.
Title: Re: [JPH!P+MM in LA] AFTERPARTY Planning Thread
Post by: limitbreaker02 on March 09, 2009, 09:27:26 AM
Oh, so meowchi's going. I'm not going.

Tentative schedule: July 1-6

Could be shorter depending on how much overtime I can get for the next 4 months...and if MM is going to have some kind of event besides the concert.

I'm up for just about whatever but I don't drink nor will I go/do karaoke.

Hell yeah. Both Izakaya and Karaoke is the shit and probably the most fun I've ever had with friends, ever. On top of that it's a very very good opportunity to get to know eachother.

You know any good ones? How would you say the prices are?
Title: Re: [JPH!P+MM in LA] AFTERPARTY Planning Thread
Post by: StreakInTheSky on March 09, 2009, 10:02:48 PM
I've only been to a couple izakayas. I know one in Little Tokyo, can't remember the name right now, it's like in the 3rd or 4th floor of this shopping complex. It was like 10 bucks or less for most things I think. I'm a cheap college student, so I usually stick to beer and one of those cheap plate things for like 3 or 5 bucks. I could ask around for more places if you guys want. Or maybe some people here already know a place nearby.

And they have a karaoke place in the same building. There it depends on how many people go. But I don't think I've ever spent more than 20 bucks on karaoke, and I've spent hours in those boxes. And yeah, I'm talking about karaoke boxes and not bars, where you go into a room. So you'll be only among friends, with many who probably can't sing for shit anyways. Karaoke is an awesome way to just have fun with friends.
Title: Re: [JPH!P+MM in LA] AFTERPARTY Planning Thread
Post by: Sev on March 09, 2009, 10:22:35 PM
Oh man you just got me all hyped on that shit. Prices sound totally about right! And like I said, and you implied, 4-5 peeps in a Karaoke room/box/whatever and it's totally the best way to get know eachother.

Thanks for the heads up SITS. I really appreciate the info! One question though about the Karaoke: Like in japan, can you order in alcohol and shit there?
Title: Re: [JPH!P+MM in LA] AFTERPARTY Planning Thread
Post by: 0508 on March 09, 2009, 11:07:21 PM
@SITS & Sev
I think this is the Izakaya you're talking about (the one I mentioned in the other thread).
http://www.yelp.com/biz/honda-ya-izakaya-los-angeles

It's on the same floor as the Karate/Shinkendo doujou (Obata Toshishiro...Ninja Turtles, anyone?) The karaoke place is on the floor directly below it. Pretty convenient. Not to sure about the alcohol thing, I've only been to karaoke once (didn't drink) and it wasn't there. XD

Post by: StreakInTheSky on March 09, 2009, 11:55:51 PM
Nah unfortunately you can't bring alcohol into the karaoke box. But that's why there's an Izakaya right above it. And you can also sneak it in. >_>

^and yeah from the looks of it, that's the place. Thanks for the link.

I'm down for Izakaya and karaoke, fo sho.   This trip's gonna be crazy-awesome.  I just need to work out what day I'm leaving, because I'll have to miss a bunch of work.  I don't get any vacation time at my job, and there's only 3 other managers that can do my job while I'm away so it makes taking time off more difficult.

Izakaya sounds really dope, I got 10,000 results in the LA area lol. We'll have that as our finale party!  :w00t:

so let's add an option for:
EATS

I really wanna check out Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles: http://www.roscoeschickenandwaffles.com/ cuz RZA went there with Craig Ferguson's mom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHqIA0h9qPk

Flyp suggested In and Out and WERD. I didn't have any either. http://www.in-n-out.com/

What about THE BEACH?!

Ocean Front Walk Boardwalk with street performers, souvenir vendors. Muscle Beach–adjacent. Along beach between Marine Street and Grand Boulevard, Venice Map N9

Gotta double check the AX Sked too to build the itinerary around peeping MM.

We'll need to a good idea of how many peeps wanna go to Six  Flags - cuz groups have discounts? Or y'all have the residency discount like Sexy Beam hooked us up in Orlando. Or those Coke cans XD

Quote
Six Flags Magic Mountain Theme park has 17 coasters; dozens of attractions; rides including world’s tallest, fastest and longest flying coaster, Tatsu. Call for hours. $29.99– $59.99, under 2 free. 26101 Magic Mountain Pkwy., Valencia, 661.255.4111 Map A2

I dunno about Disneyland or Universal Studios - MAYBE we could catch a glimpse of Conan plus they don't have an MIB ride.

Beach!!!: Most def. (Someone outta bring a volleyball or football (the european kind and american))
Izakaya + Karaoke: Most def.
Six Flags: Most def.

As for Six Flags, I would assume all my boys wanna join in. We're having a meeting on Friday settling shit, I'll now for sure by then I guess.

We're thinking (since we have alot of time) of streaking at Redwood NP. Day trip or so. If anyone wanna go maybe it'll be more fun going a bigger group. On top of that we're gonna drive down to SD. Looking into the opportunity if and if possible checking out Chargers training camp. I don't know how that shit works, but they gotta do something during summer? Hopefully they have open practices where you can watch them.

EDIT: Booked the trip last night. Someone hurr up and put the patron on ice! :pimp:

KANKI VRROOOM VRRROOM PARTY STAAA-TAH!!!

That's right. I didn't even give a summary to shit we discussed at our previous MM @ AX meeting at #cali_or_die

Since there's a bunch of peeps with cars, we can CAR POOL. That saves us 700 bucks. Sorry to those who wanted to rent a Bang Bus (Jab) or RV (Ping). Those who got whips, holler!

jpm, and h!o are trying to do some join dance party thing on the 3rd, but if its gonna be 90% kids ( Under 21 ) I might bail on that I am an old woman I need booze and debauchery!

Ain't nuttin wrong with a dance party XD but I like plenty of grab ass too. Is that the same iceymoon After Party? Cuz I'm picturing THIS: Karaoke madness. Giant speeches. Good times.

I had been arranging some bi-weekly ones the past month with Fen, ten, Tris, rev2hd and others for main shit we gotta do - T-shirts, gifts, and other arrangements.

But yup. Ones where we can all touch base on shit is something we must do leading up to the trip - say in April. Can't wait to see you back in the chat MAN!

I have a car too.

Also wondering how the parking at the hotel you guys are staying is. I know parking is going to be a bitch near the con, so maybe I could park at the hotel and just walk to the con with everyone else.

If luck is on my side, I might have a new car by july, but I cannot count on it, and yeah dai it's iceymoons, thingo, if I know there will be all the forums there then i am down, I love jpm, but lately I have not been loving it, in fact i am close to bailing on the tee's for them cause i got a ration of buttinskies.

My best friend is driving us on day 2, and i think we are taking the train on day one cause we will have an 8 year old with us, it's his bday!!!

so i dunno, let me know when the irc meeting is and i will try to log on,

I just got real sick, like i was last year, so I am kinda a bit outta sorts, but I am not going to let it beat me.

I'm coming on the day of the concert only...

I don't know if my mom is up for me meeting internet folks without her. I've done it before with her witha few Rolling Stones fans (my other obsession) But without....

Or even to come with her and possibly leave with you guys and carpool to wherever and then hitch a ride back home with whoevers nice enough to drive me home...  If any of you are up for it that is.... And me with an address... but also with no sense of direction...   :(

I dunno... I'm working on it... I'm working on her!  :sweatdrop:

Question: Where do you go hang out at the beach in LA? There's gotta be someplace. I wanna play beach soccer or volleyball. It would be ton of fun going a bunch to the beach, hang out, whatnot.

Not exactly sure what you mean about where, but the coast is pretty much miles of public beach, just go west  . The areas around the piers have the volleyball nets, so you might want to go to them. I tend to go to the beaches in the South Bay area, just south of metro LA, so if you need help or directions while here, just ask me. Don't know much about other beaches though.

Disneyland or Six Flags I'd love to go, busy crowds? We'll see, but hey we came to LA TO HAVE FUN!! Not Antarctica (no offense to the penguins/scientists) :hipheart:

I don't think the beaches in LA actually close, but there's no loitering between 12am-6am, which I have no idea what that means. Never really been to a beach after 10pm.

I think the location of an afterparty will have to depend on how many people go, who's going, what people want to do, etc. I'm not really that familiar with the metro LA nightlife scene. But I do know of a karaoke place in little tokyo with large rooms. There's also lots of places to eat, everywhere.

As for shopping, there's 3rd Street in Santa Monica, Beverly Center, and Citywalk.

This is all in LA btw, there's still a whole lot of crap in the OC for people willing to travel for a little bit. But I don't think it's really worth it unless you're going to Disneyland or something.

Like I said in the other thread, Yelp.com is a good resource for finding places. Can see ratings and and filter by location and price.

LOCATION INFO YAYZ
So we were actually able to visit the Sheraton location this Saturday. We bring you more precise information on how to get there:

- From the CONVENTION CENTER, walk towards the skyscrapers to the corner of Flower Street and 12th Street. Cross to the other side and turn LEFT (on Flower). From there, just go straight until you get to 8th. There will be a Macy's Plaza on the corner. Turn RIGHT at the Macy's and go in through the main entrance. Inside the Macy's plaza you will see the entrance to the Sheraton on the LEFT.

Here is some map help:
Google Maps Street View
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Sheraton+Downtown+Hotel+Los+Angeles&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=58.72842,80.771484&ie=UTF8&ll=34.047619,-118.256686&spn=0,359.99014&z=17&layer=c&cbll=34.047984,-118.257686&panoid=SKhcq_r9qAuJbqv3wOfn4Q&cbp=12,258.81,,0,3.14 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Sheraton+Downtown+Hotel+Los+Angeles&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=58.72842,80.771484&ie=UTF8&ll=34.047619,-118.256686&spn=0,359.99014&z=17&layer=c&cbll=34.047984,-118.257686&panoid=SKhcq_r9qAuJbqv3wOfn4Q&cbp=12,258.81,,0,3.14)

Map photo with labeled entrances
http://party.hello-ranking.com/map.png (http://party.hello-ranking.com/map.png)

- INSIDE THE SHERATON follow the striped carpet to the end and turn left, where you will see escalators going down. Go down TWO floors and follow the Hello! Party signage to the California Ballroom (If you get lost, just ask Sheraton employees how to get to the California Ballroom). Be sure to check in and choose your favorite member at the entrace!

We are working on having signage at the hotel to direct people where to go to get to the ballroom, but they may be a bit small (and thus, hard to see). Just look for graphics that look like the website (http://party.hello-ranking.com/ (http://party.hello-ranking.com/))!

PARKING WTF?
I got a couple people asking questions about parking. I don't really know that people will need to park at the Sheraton because it's so close to the Convention Center (10 minute walk at *most*), but I got the info just in case.

There is a parking garage at the Macy's (that is attached to the Sheraton), the details are as follows:
- 3 Hours free with validation (i.e. you can only get validation from Macy's, Bally's or GMC)
- Regular price: $2.50 for every 12 minutes (maximum of $28)
- Early bird special: $11 flat rate if you park before 10am.

According to this review, there is a parking garage that charges a $2 flat rate after 4pm. It seems to be right across the street from the Macy's Plaza (but I don't remember seeing it while I was there). It doesn't have very many spaces, though.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/central-parking-systems-los-angeles-2 (http://www.yelp.com/biz/central-parking-systems-los-angeles-2)

Street parking is FREE after 6pm. Before 6pm, it's $0.25 for 15 minutes (so $1 per hour).

FOOD COURT FTW!
Since the main event begins at 7pm (sharp) and doesn't break until 10pm (excluding a short intermission), we recommend people eat before they show up to the party. Lucky for you, this possible complication has been made easy by the unexpected presence of a food court! Since the Sheraton turned out to be connected to a Macy's Center (which is really like a miniature Mall), there is a food court a few paces away from the entrance to the hotel. YAY!

I expect the food court will be closed by 10pm, though, so once again I must suggest eating *before* Hello! Party begins. Just some friendly advice. :3

But don't worry, we'll still love you all the same just for showing up!

TWITTER LOVE <3
If we've got any Twitter users around, just letting you know that if you tweet anything related Hello! Party, it would be awesome if you could use the hashtag, #helloparty :3 This way everyone can view related tweets with a simple search! And who knows, we may just aggregate tweets into something cool.

Also, Flickr users can tag future photos of the event with "Hello! Party 2009," but I'll just announce that at the event since there are no photos yet. xD

So this is the last major update you will get from us. I'll send out one more e-mail about discographies soon! We are so looking forward to meeting you all!! Feel free to say hi to us, we don't bite (unless you're covered in cheese). :3

See you there,
Jen & Bryan

P.S. I forgot to mention, the e-mail party@hello-ranking.com wasn't working at first, but we did fix it shortly after the first update. Sorry to those that had to find a work-around way of contacting us! ^^;

I edited some parts lol, sign up and get the email. But this is a general info for those going or are interested. RSVP!
