Title: Illuminati [Update: Chapter 6 - No Time Left]
Post by: stefy on March 22, 2009, 05:43:09 AM
New fic everyone~
zomg! I can't believe I actually managed to write this in less than a month. *pats self* :monk gboy:  And no it's not from a Dan Brown book. The word means New World Order, I thought it might fit so... yea. Well, lets just see how long I manage to keep this fic going. :P

Ok so... tadaa~ chapter 1!!

------------------------------------

[Chapter 1 : The Unfortunate]

The sound of bare feet dragging against the rough pavement echoed throughout the dark and narrow alleyway.

"You can't hide from me forever little girl."

A deep, coarse voice of a male whispered in an eerie tone as the figure walked slowly. His inhumanly red and bloodshot eyes darted around searching for his prey. Limping lightly forward he rested against a pile of crates for support. The growing frustration and embarrassment of his injuries caused by a smaller girl.. a human girl, made the monster even more furious. He grabbed the top crate hurled it in the opposite direction and watched as the wood crash against the thin walls breaking into flakes.

"Come on darling, I promise I won't bite."

He hissed in amusement as his right hand snaked its way behind him. Electric sparks cracked around his finger tips before a bright blue orb of electrical energy emerged from his palm growing larger until it surrounded him. He closed his eyes with contentment as he felt the surge of electric sensation fill his whole body.

Shivering with fear, a tiny little girl peered out slightly from her hiding spot. She stared wide eyed at the bright form from a distance, terrified. If she ran for it the creature would see her. If she stayed where she was the creature would still see her, if it walked down the alley a little bit more. Trapped in the corner, the tear stricken young girl could only stay in her current position and hope not to get caught, which was highly unlikely.

The sky darkened drastically, forming static clouds above them. The little girl fixed her eyes above in horror, was this ... man? ... able to create lightning? She twitched fearfully at the sound of thunder as she awaited her doom.

"Trouble.."

She heard a faint call of another voice, very much sounding like that of a child, just like herself. Peering over the edge of the thin wall again to take a peek at her predator, she saw that he was already approaching her very location.

"Boom!"

Lightning struck right before the child's very eyes. She stared in shock as a thick fire broke out, drawing a perfectly straight line between herself and the monster.

"Run~... Run~"

The same voice said cheerfully, somewhat commanding the young child to her safety. She did as she was told; the little girl mustered up all her energy, making a dash as far away from the monster as she could.

The girl turned to hide behind a small shop house as she peered over to take one final look at her assailant. She stood there stupefied after witnessing the scene from afar.

The fire had eaten the man into dust.

*****

"Niigaki!!!"

The voice of a matured lady roared across the hallway, causing various people living within the compound to jump in shock.

"Gakinee.. Gakinee!"

A younger girl hissed nervously at her servant, whom she'd become very attached to, worried for the slightly more elder female.

"What is it, Aika-dono?" Replied a, certain slightly chubby looking, youngster who was apparently in a dazed state, staring out the tiny window of the narrow kitchen.

"Gakinee-san, Baachan is calling for you. Hurry to her or you might have to spend time in the coop again. And I told you not to call me that! Or I'll send you to the coops instead."

The child stuck a tongue out playfully at her supposedly servant, throwing empty threats towards the older girl. Smiling gently, the young lady, known as Gakinee-san or Niigaki Risa, walked over to the stove retrieving a hot pot of tea as she carefully poured its contents into a mug and placed the hot drink onto a small tray. She then made her way towards the petite junior master of hers as she brushed the fringe of the very observant young girl she'd come to adore, fixing the younger child's hair accessory back into place.

"You've been playing with the boys again haven't you? If your baba-chan found out, you'll be in trouble you know." Risa said as she lightly tapped Aika's cheeks with her finger tips.

"Are you threatening me now?" Aika rebutted defiantly.

"Of course not. I would never dare to. I’m just trying to remind you that you should act more lady like as you are a young girl now."

"Aika is not a lady! Aika is only 10! And Aika will play more with Kenji-kun! Until this retched cloth becomes soiled with dirt!" The youngster hollered as she pulled on the cloth on the yukata which clothed her.

"Eh! Dame! You mustn't do all that Aika-dono! And your.. your yukata will stretch!" Risa waved her hand frantically pointing the younger's hands, wanting Aika to stop pulling against the delicate material.

Grinning, the younger girl let go of her clothing instantly and, with both hands, cupped the face of her most favorite servant. "Hai Gakinee-chan, I won't. I just wanted to see your over reaction as usual that’s all." With that, Aika dashed away towards her play room.

Risa smiled for the second time that day, shaking her head lightly. She went back to her main task as she retrieved two Japanese orange from a basket placing it on the tray as well. She carefully made her way down the hallway to her grand mistress's room politely requesting to enter.

"Come in." The voice of her mistress replied.

Bowing before stepping into the room, Risa made sure no eye contact was made with the lady of the house. "Your tea Mitsui-sama, be careful for it is hot." Risa said before she began to peel the skin of the oranges.

"A fire broke out last night." The old lady said abruptly not bothering about her tea.

"It broke out from one of our shop house this time. You have anything to do with it?" She questioned in a clam tone, her eyes narrowed drastically, eying the young girl before her.

Risa fixed her gaze onto the ground, not once daring to look at the elderly, she shook her head in refute. "I didn't..."

"Lies!" The elderly bellowed as she swung her arm towards the young servant, causing Risa to yelp in pain falling onto the tatami floor. "You've been plotting against my son's business haven't you!"

"No..."

"Come with me." She yelled as she reached out towards Risa, grabbing on to the younger girl's ear and tugged on it. The older woman marched along the hallway not once bothering about the shrieks of pain Risa let out every now and then.

"I should have done this a long time ago.."

Muttering to no one in particular, the lady of the house lead, or more like tugged, Risa to a room. One with no furnishings, just a small narrow space big enough to.. well keep someone locked up.

"Please... Don't.." Risa pleaded ignoring the pain she felt on her ear, she feared more to be locked up than to have her ear pulled off.

"You deserve it!" She screamed as her wrinkled fingers made a final tug with more force and swung Risa into the cold empty room kicking the younger girl further into the space then slammed the door shut. Leaving the girl screaming in fear as she knocked again the door begging for mercy, perhaps she was claustrophobic, but that did not bother the grand mistress, not one bit.

*****

Risa's body quivered as she stood in the corner, tired from all the screaming and slamming her fits on the hard wooden material. Her jaw muscle shivered, she could her her teeth chatter. The room was not only dark, it was freezing. She curled up and held herself tightly, her eyes darting around the tiny room. She looked up at the dark sky through the tiny window in despair, a woman marked down to be hunted by something beyond any human's power. A woman marked out from the public eye as the troublemaker.

'Why me?'

Haha you finally did it! Congrats! XD Now you better keep on writing and at least update once a month, slowpoke. :P

Interesting that Risa always seems to be in such unfortunate situations. XD At least someone seems to be helping her? Well, sort of, since whatever fire that finished the demon or whatever that electric-generating person was also burned down the shop. Lol. Well at least her life was saved. XD I do wonder who that mysterious savior is though. :D

I find it amusing that Risa is serving Aika. A feudal era story? Interesting~ Now let's see how this plays out. :P

Write moar~

RISA!!!

Story almost sounds like it's set in the Edo era...that...or we're just dealing with a rich, not to mention really, REALLY formal/old-school family here.

[Chapter 2 : Without You]

A group of servants panted breathlessly, lungs gasping for air, while a few more continued chasing after the hyper active young mistress of the very large household. The angry looking child tottered forward at top speed searching every corner of the house screaming her lungs out.

“Aika-sama! Please stop running, Aika-sama.”

“No!” The youngster screamed yet again. “Where is my Gakinee-chan?! I want her here right now!” She yelled back slamming hard against the hard wooden door walking into yet another unoccupied room.

Aika observed her surroundings carefully, searching under the couch, behind narrow corners and even inside the cupboards, but to no avail. Her Gakinee was not in the room. She made a dash for the exit which was currently blocked by a dozen exhausted looking servants. The tiny little girl went on all fours and crawled away to freedom before dashing off to the next room again. She grinned triumphantly at her accomplishments at the same time as she glanced back to see if anymore servants were chasing after her. Oddly, her servants were all on their knees, perhaps they've finally admit defeat to the young child.

bang!

“Oww... Watch where you’re going!” Aika grumbled rubbing on her hip as she fell onto the floor after colliding with someone. She froze in her place as she realised who she had bumped into.

“Aika! How very not lady-like of you to be running around the house so early in the morning! And how dare you talk to me like that. My child, why are you are not dressed yet!” The voice of an old naggy lady bellowed towards the child. “Who is in-charge of dressing Aika? You’re fired!”

Aika turned and caught a glimpse of the servant who chased her around the most, She felt a rush of anger build up within her as Aika watched the servant her weep softly.

“It's not her fault! Only Gakinee dresses me! I will not let anyone else but Gakinee! And you have no right to fire people! Only papa does!” Aika shouted loudly, her voice echoing along the hallway. She gave her grandmother the dirtiest look she could muster and prepared for the worst.

“Oh my, how dare you talk to your grandmother like that? You're father will hear of this I assure you. And I presume this Gakinee you mention is that Niigaki am I correct?" Aika nodded in response.

“Well, she has left Tokyo. She doesn't want to take care of you anymore.” The grand mistress said with a smirk.

“You're lying!”

“Of course not. A lady never lies! Now go get dressed or I will be forced to bring the canes against you young lady.” With that the older lady pushed Aika to one of the servants as she walked away.

*****

The warm and humid mid July air engulfed her as the beads of sweat trickled down her cheeks. Her conscious mind spring into life when she noticed that she had went into a state of unconsciousness. Her eyes fluttered open and she took in a sharp intake of breath.

‘I fell asleep.’

She thought to herself fearfully observing her surroundings again like she was expecting unwanted company at any moment. It has become a routine for the young teenager now; to wake up abruptly, checking on her whereabouts.  Risa finally calmed down when she realized she was still locked up in the empty prison room. A strange sense of tranquility filled the young girl who was trapped in the tiny enclosed room. Although, there was the possibility of her starving to death in the room, eventually, since no water or food had been shoved to her for the past 24 hours now. A natural death was far more appealing to the girl than a death caused by the super natural...

Risa leaned back against the cool surface of the wall and closed her eyes once again, feeling the warmth of the morning sun slowly baking her already tanned skin. An image of Aika flashed through her mind that instant.

“Aika!” She yelped out loud to herself and bolted right up for the door rattling at the door knob vigorously.

“She has to get dressed for school!”

It was no use, no matter how much Risa yanked and pulled at the door, it still wouldn't budge. She rested herself on the dirt filled ground once more, defeated. Some other servant would have already dressed Aika, but it still made Risa feel very uneasy.

Risa sat there thinking about Aika, worried for the younger one. What if Aika got angry again, and Risa wasn’t there to make her feel better? What if... something bad happened to the child and Risa wasn’t there to protect her? The more she thought about it, the more Risa panicked internally, causing the young over reactive teenager to rush over to slam against the door once again. But before she could even reach the door, she felt a sudden sharp spasm of pain and collapsed onto the ground unable to move...

*****

Tugging hard on the long and thick rope, it's end tied onto a huge bell hovering at the very top of the tower, the silhouette of a young girl was seen from the room across as she then pulled hard on the rope, releasing it and tugging once again.

Gong... Gong..

She repeated the process for another minute or so before resting her petite figure against the cool wall, wiping off the beads of sweat forming on her face with a napkin. After which she dashed off towards the main building of the school.

Aika watched the girl no older than she was, through the window of her classroom, struggling with such an energy consuming task. Why did this girl even volunteer to such a tedious task? She wondered unconsciously to herself. She turned her gaze casually over to the fairly small room as various girls of her age, dressed in various different colored kimonos, glided in a poised manner towards the various tables that was spread evenly within the room.

.
.
.

“Bow when you are receiving your chawan” The teacher instructed as the refined lady stood in front of the class with a bowl of tea in her hands.

“Take the chawan with your right hand and place it in the palm of your left hand.”

The class of girls sat in an upright position, kneeled down, on a flat cushion with a small table before them. Every girl listened attentatively and did as instucted, retrieving their chawan with their right hand placing it in the palm of their left hand then waited for the teacher to proceed with the next set of instructions...

Every girl except one...

'School is such a waste of time'

Aika scrutinized the class, more like the school, which she irked so much. She knew everything that was, and will be taught since she lived in a house full of people making her do useless events like participating in tea ceremonies, and sewing. Only, she didn't understand why she had to learn them in school too. She'd rather learn more about math or even history. She knew more about those topics then how to hold a cup of tea. One might even call the child a mini walking encyclopaedia despite of her mischievous looks and playful habits. She recalled how she used to always make Gakinee read to her countless books on anything and everything. Children's storybooks just didn't entertain her enough. Sometimes she even had to explain to her Gakinee in detail whenever the older girl seemed lost in the contents of the books. Which Aika enjoyed doing; she would carefully observe every single facial expression of her loyal servant while explaining. And of course after which, she'd look forward to the songs of praises directed at her from the older girl...

"Mitsui-sama that is not the way a lady should sit," commanded the teacher. She noticed the young one slouching away from her kneeled position, gazing in a dazed manner at the corner of the class room.

Aika rolled her eyes irritably and shifted in her position to please her teacher. And she recalled how Risa used to say similar things to her...

'I miss Gakinee'

A look of determination filled the young girl eyes. She missed her servant almost like a sister she never had. And now, she was going to look for her Gakinee.

No matter what it takes.

[Chapter 2 : Without You]

So Aika's family is rich, and Risa is/was in their employ, presumably in charge of taking care of Aika...and then something happened that lead up to the events of the first chapter. :O

Along with being rich, looks like Aika's family is (or at least certain members within it are) majorly snobby.  They've even got Aika attending some froo-froo "refined girls" school, by the looks of it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

[Chapter 3 : Wild Goose Chase]

"And that was the last time you saw her?"

The petit girl with an exasperatingly over sized outfit questioned a worried looking lady, then frantically scribbled down something on her small notepad.

"Yes, she was doing the groceries like she always does for you and your family. But that was yesterday.. She didn't come today though.." She trailed off wondering where her friend might have been. Though she only sees Risa every morning whenever she comes to get vegetables from her, the store keeper really enjoyed Risa's presence and began to find it weird that the younger girl didn't come this morning, plus the fact that the owner of Mitsui departmental market's daughter came to question her.

"You two are close friends aren't you? I often notice you and Ga.. I mean Niigaki, talking a lot." Aika went on.

"Yes, we are. At least, I assume we are..." Entertaining the young child, the store keeper trailed off answering calmly but pondering over the question. "Then why didn't she say anything about leaving to you damn it!" She wailed out loud, flinging her arms around though barely able to see her hands since it was covered under the long sleeves of her large brown coat.

"Don't worry Aika-san, I'm sure Risachan would come back. She's not the type who would abandon her loved ones." The shop keeper smiled reassuringly at the child as she fixed Aika's large hat back into place.

"Thanks Konkon-san" Aika smiled weakly.

***

"You WHAT?!"

She watched in shock as her only son, her very reserved and quiet son, stood up shouting at her. The grand mistress of the house has never seen her son so flared up so much before.

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?"

"That is no way to speak to your mother! I was only doing this for your own good!" She voiced back, rage filled her as she couldn't believe her son would choose to raise his voice at his own mother over a lousy house servant.

"But you know where she is right? I want to to bring her back right this instant." Calming down, the tall refined looking male demanded as he paced about back and forth in front of his mother with his arms crossed.

"I will not! She has brought enough trouble into this place, don't you see? She has cast a spell on you AND you're daughter!" The old lady raised her voice, refusing to give in to her son's request to bring back the servant in topic.

"You don't understand mother!" He raised his voice once more, panicked, "Our everything depends on her!"

***

The musty, metallic smell of dry soil filled her nose as she awoke,  feeling the hard and prickly ground beneath her, Risa widen her eyes at the sight before her.

The floor was orange.

No longer was she in the retched room, but in a cave like surrounding. Enclosed by eroded soil-like walls which stretched out to what seemed like no end.

Gathering a hand full of dark orange sand from the ground, she stared at the fine powdery substance as it smoothly flowed back down to the ground. "How?" Risa mumbled to herself in bewilderment.

She got up on her feet, exploring the area around her, the rough surface of the walls scraped her fingertips as she felt her way around the fairly dark cave. The floor was uneven, causing Risa to trip on various small rocks every now and then. A soft cry escaped her as she fell forward with her foot stuck in a small hole.

"Oh there she is." A voice from behind cooed, moving closer to the now terrified girl, "where you going little girl?"

***

Gakinee HAS to be somewhere around the compound.

Aika thought long and hard as she surveyed the room of the missing person for the nth number of time. Magnifying glass in one hand and one end of a leash in the other. She kneeled onto one leg and began rummaging through the leather black bag which she borrowed from her father. Pulling out an old ragged piece of cloth, she shoved the item towards the animal who was watching her every move curiously, it's neck chained to the other end of the leash.

"Here boy, smell this, that's Gakinee. Now go find her!" She commanded the Labrador retriever which was almost the same size, if not bigger, than she was.

"Whoa!" Aika yelped out, as the loyal family dog jolted for the door and began dragging her to the hallway of the large mansion.

Aika fumbled with her steps on several occasions as she tried her best to keep up with the dog. She watched and followed her dog, intrigued that her plan might actually work, as it sniffed the ground and scampered forward with every sniff. It stopped at the main entrance demanding for the door to be opened. "Leo! Where are you going! We're not supposed to go out of the house!" She yelled. The dog barked back angrily, almost as though reminding Aika that it was her idea to use it to find her favourite being.

"Ok fine... But if I get in trouble, it's going to be you're fault!" Caving in, Aika tipped-toed to open the door to let them both out. She looked down and noticed her dog glaring at her, "Well, if I'm going to get punished, you’re going down with me you know?" Giving a loud snort of disapproval, Leo continued to capture the scent of the cloth and began trotting out of the mansion.

Dodging every object which her dog avoided swiftly (more like tripping over most of them), Aika began to feel like her dog was just playing her. "Leo! There's no way Gakinee has gone this far!" She yelled once more. The dog stopped dead in it's tracks in front of an old looking cabin, turning to bark rhetorically at its owner.

"Here boy? Are you sure?" She asked as she caught her breath. Huffing a low reply, the greyish black dog glanced back at the 10 year old who was currently drenched in sweat. "Right." Aika nodded then pushed with all her might at the wooden log which served as a lock for the door.

With the help of her trusty companion, Aika managed to lift the log up, throwing it aside. She stared at the now accessible cabin, with a hint of excitement, and kicked the door open. A tall looking figure (in Aika's point of view) stood in the middle of the room looking back at the child in shock. She was fair, with dark long hair which streamed down to her shoulders. Her big round eyes which sparkled within the dark room, now stared right at Aika. She might have been beautiful. But she was not Gakinee.

"Who the hell are you?"

...you really do have an Aika obsession. :P

Oooh mystery person! Why is Aika essential? A spell? Hmmm....more than meets the eye for the Mitsui household?

2 months and 4 days huh....you ah...then again, I can't say anything since I haven't been writing either... >_>;;;

Oh and what are you gonna do with Gaki now? Everyone's been mistreating her in fics lately. Lol. Poor girl. XD Update soon~

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...so there's something "special" about Risa after all, and grannie doesn't know about it! :o

And fuck yeah Aika's dad should be pissed off at her. This is, after all, HIS household, and as such, even with the whole "I raised you....blah blah blah", it's HIS word that should be the final one, not his mom's.

Next questions now are, how and why is Risa so important, and what's with all this supernatural stuff that seems to be following her around?

Couldn't help but chuckle as I pictured this scene happening, especially given Aika's known love of dogs and her shortness.

Interesting story so far, and intriguing as well. Poor Risa. She's already gone through enough... If I was in her position, I would've clawed that bitchy grandma, nevermind the fact that I have soft spot for old women! D< I wonder what her importance is to the Mitsui family, though. Does she have magical powers or something? And why wasn't the granny informed beforehand?

On a lighter note, you write a really cute Aika. Imagining lil' Aika in an oversized outfit conjures up an adorable image.

O: AU fic...

I love these type of universes for some reason. Give me servants, slaves and secret rooms/passages, maybe toss in some magic and I'm generally a happy camper. Aika seems to be getting some good roles in fics, I really like her in this one as the rich but not spoilt rotten kid in this. Her bond with Risa is sweet.

Ugh. Stupid grandmother. Go away, baba!
Aika being pulled along by her dog on their search was so cute. X3 Her determination to find her Gaki-nee makes me want to give her a hug. Why can't my little sister be that adorable?

So many mysteries that need explaining though. What is Risa's relation to Aika's family that their everything depends on her? What is up with the beast that was chasing her and mystery woman is who? (To me it sounds like it's Sayumi) The wait for a new chapter's gonna be tough. ^^;

[Chapter 4: Mystery Maiden]

The air cooled drastically as the sunken sun shone its last rays of light into the cabin where two girls stood in silence, staring at each other in bewilderment. The taller of the two looked slightly frighten, probably due to a certain canine companion blocking her only exit.

"Well? Are you mute or something?" Aika voiced out stepping forward cautiously towards the young maiden, impatiently waiting for a reply from the older, slightly more mature looking lady with bright beautiful, but scared, looking pair of eyes. A long white dress clothed her as it clung on to her body perfectly, making all her curves apparent. She isn't just any normal teenage girl, she dresses completely different from everyone else, not to mention being barefooted. Aika observed the stranger as she speculated the girl from her appearance.

"I... I..." The stranger stuttered, seemingly very afraid of the child, "I shouldn't be here" she muttered under her breath before making a dash for the exit. Her actions were so quick that both Aika and her dog failed to react to her sudden bolt for the exit.

"Wait!" Aika yelled out as she ran out chasing after the beautiful stranger, she ran with all her might to catch up with her. 'Is she the world's fastest runner or something?!' Aika thought to herself as she sprinted at her fastest, turning into an alley which the girl had previously turned into only to find no one there. "Eh?" She gasped in confusion.

Staring blankly into space, a frown slowly made its way onto her sharp facial features. The ally was a dead end, with the exception of a few crates which Aika had already checked to see if the stranger was hiding behind any of them. It's like she simply vanished...

Still frowning, Aika continued to stare blankly at the end of the ally, coming to realisation of a different problem all together.

"Leo?" She called out timidly for her dog, searching for Leo this time but to no avail. A hint of panic filled her eyes; it was getting too dark for a girl her age to be out.

'Where am I?'

***

"What do you mean, everything depends on her?" The old lady scoffed, refusing to believe that such a no body would be so important to her family.

"Where's Aika?" The tall man questioned, smoothing out his restless facial features as he walked out of the room calling for the one and only being that his deceased wife left him with.

"Akihiro, answer me. I will not be ignored!" The old lady demanded, glaring sternly at her son. Her fairly wrinkled face showing traces of confusion and anger towards the younger man.

"You would never believe me anyway mother," he continued to avoid his mother's question as he took out a large bag. "What's more important now is that we get out of here.." He paused for a moment with his words, taking all the necessary items then stuffing them into the large brown bag. ".. before they come."

A sudden pang of fear struck though him at the thought of them coming, making the middle-aged man scrambled out the room. "You!" He yelled, grabbing hold of one of the servants. "Where is Aika?" He demanded.

"S..she she hasn't come back from school master." She trembled at his assertiveness, as she watched him scramble through the hallway in search of his child. Never before did she came across a dishevel looking master of the household.

***

A tiny yelp escaped Risa as the hunted girl turned back staring wide-eyed at her hunter. Nudging at her leg, she desperately tired to free her foot from the hole so as to escape from her current situation.

She turned back in defeat, her leg refusing to budge from the hole. Leaning against the cool wall, she faced the larger figure who masked a delightful smirk knowing that his prey was currently immobile.

"What do you want from me!" Risa screamed in fear. She figured, if she was going to be killed, she deserved to know the reason why at the very least. Unfortunately, no reply came from the exterminator as he slowly lessened the gap between him and Risa.

Her eyes puffed up as tears began to cloud her vision. She didn't want to die, not just yet, she was only sixteen for crying out loud. Thoughts of her life and the people around her began flashing through Risa's mind as she realised, she would never see them again.

"Aika.." She whispered softly as tears flowed down her cheeks, unable to hold her it back any longer. Risa gasped in pain as she stared into the eyes of her soon to be murderer. Dizziness engulfed her for a split second causing the young girl to fall back completely against the wall for support...

~*~*~*~*~

A swift movement, sending the unkempt male launching right into the distraught young lady's body, as he held a hand out gripping painfully onto her neck. He seemed to have said something, but it all came out muffled. Slamming his free arm straight into her ribs sending the girl into unconsciousness, he smirked triumphantly at his accomplishments. 'Too easy' he thought to himself.

Bringing his hand up to the girl's chest, slamming his hand right at the child once more, this time however, his hand went right through her skin digging inside her for something. A bright grin sneaked its way onto his rough features, as he pulled out his newly found treasure, a mind blowing pale white orb emerged out of her, floating in his palm

Risa seemed to be observing everything from afar as her lifeless body took her last gasp.

~*~*~*~*~

Gasping in pain, Risa stared fearfully at the man as she held onto her chest protectively, taking a quick glance down at her still breathing body.

"What was-" Before she could finish, she felt her body get slammed against the wall behind her.

He gripped firmly against her small neck, slowly tightening his grip. A repulsive smirk appeared onto his musty features, revealing his golden-red eyes. Risa stared in horror as she realised, she was going to go through the process all over again. This time though, it was for real.

"What I want is your soul." He whispered delightfully, lifting his free arm up ready to slam it into Risa's ribs.

Risa shut her eyes closed anticipating the pain that is to come. But it never did, instead she heard a loud crackle and the sound of something heavy crumbling onto the rough ground beneath her. With the same heavy weight on her gone, Risa carefully released the muscles around her eyes, slowly opening them one at a time.

A figure of a captivating young girl, no older then Risa herself, dressed in a bright white one piece appeared before her. She looked right at the petrified girl with a smile, somehow reassuring Risa that everything would be alright.

Shielding her from the built man, Risa stared in shock as a blinding pale yellow light shone before the young lady as it stretched out to form a clear wall in front of them. Balls of dark flames flew towards a now curled up Risa but was soon diminished into ash as the clear shield blocked the two from every attack the huge beast threw at them.

Risa lifted her head up, taking a peek at the scene before her, the young woman held her arm out with the shield opening up from her palm.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you" She said, her delicate voice echoed within the space between the two girls.

Can't wait for the next chapter, I also hope it won't take, *looks at watchless arm* five months to pop up. XD

! <- This came out of no where..Cannot help but put this..~ lol.. I don't really know what is going on now at the moment..just part and parcel.. but it's so interesting~ XD

1. Aika - She is soooooo cute! I think i've never really read a fanfic mainly on her yet.. but it all fits in quite well.. Aika is usually so expressionless (but anyway..she is famous for it, ain't she? lol)... so..there might be where the brat image came from..but she is actually quite adorable in a way..  and the fact that she is only 10, all the child talk here makes her more adorable~

2. Risa - Poor RISA~~~~~~~~ hmmm... is she something like a unknowingly guardian angel for the family? LOL~ I was about to go with something like "The Master of the certain land" those kinda thing from Japan Mystic~ <- Too much manga XD but something have to be special about her.. she can look slightly into the future...~  :)

3. Grandma! : *throw metal wok and ladle at her* enough said~  :D

4. Mystery Maiden - Dark long hair always reminds me of Sayu~ :P As cute as she is.. she is considered pretty tall in MM~ probably the 2nd now.. since Koharu had left...~ So... she is the guardian of Risa?

Ok... I'm going crazy with wild guesses~  XD

I wonder who the mysterious girl is. A guardian angel? And why is the man bent on taking Risa's soul? Is Risa someone special as hinted by Aika's dad?

Very intriguing indeed :O Update soon! Don't make us your readers wait for a few months again! XD

Yahoo~

Since I'm soooooooooooooo~~~ utterly bored at work.. I decided to do some comment replies in case I take another 2 million years to update and get lazy to comment reply again XD (I'm using my phone to post so don't tell anyone!!)

ok! Replies!!

@Ess - you ass! Just felt like saying that for the fun of it ahaha. I'm nt gonna answer ur questions cuz u pretty much know how this fic goes anyways. Damn jiazua leh u!! XD

@rnd - Sorry kinda lazy to type out your whole nick hah. Yes Risa saw into the future! She's got da power! Hmmm TakaGaki? *snickers away* maybe~ maybe not~ And gah!! Don't count how long I took to update! *covers face* I'm a slow n lazy writer..

@ame - I KNOW! Aika's adorable isn't she?! Lol. I kinda prefer her this way rather then how she's normally written. Nah Risa's relationship with the Mitsuis is not quite like some Japan mythtical .. thing? Hmm actually height wouldn't really make any significance at all as to who this mystery person is. Aika's a kid remember? So most people would surely be taller then her.. Unless she's some freakishly tall person like *ahem* someone we know.. XD

@Badsaints - Nuoooo another person reminding me how long I took to update!! T_T Where's YOUR fic update then huh huh?? You shouldn't leave your readers hanging too ya know? Nyaha. Eh I'm still trying to figure out how to piece everything together tho so.. Can't really give out much hints yet hah.

@hamzies - o-o I has other fics? Which fic would that be? Yea I hope inspiration never leave me too but but but... *looks far far away in search of inspiration*

@kris - Glad that you  s it! I  s you for reading! Haha.

DONE-ED! And errr... Sorry but no update yet.. Haven't even started writing! Hehe :P I haven't been home long enough to concentrate on writing properly nowdays (EXCUSES!!)  but yea.. I shall write as soon as I stop treating my home as a hotel!!

Okiez cya!

Happy (belated?) Chinese New Year! What's a non-Chinese here gotta do to get some red packets huh? Anyways, I'm posting this while havin me break at work so... Enjoy~ XD

[Chapter 5: Maiden Revealed

"Are you alright?" The angelic voice asked, as an equally angelic looking being towered over a still currently curled up Risa. The beast now no where to be found as his entire figure turned into dust due to a sudden bolt of lightning which came from out of nowhere.

"Who are you? What do you want from me?" Risa questioned, her voice muffled due to her current position.

The beautiful savior stared blankly at Risa's vulnerable figure, not knowing what to say. She didn't plan for the younger girl to encounter an attack like this, not just yet anyway. She knelt down to face the helpless girl on eye level as she placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry Risa, you're safe now."

Looking up, Risa stared at her savior, eyes puffed and red from crying. The stranger stared back at the young girl, slightly shocked, either from Risa's currently disheveled appearance or from the way Risa glared directly into her own eyes.

"My name is Ai" She said with a warm smile, hoping to cheer the angered and confused girl up a little.

Risa lifted her head up, glaring at Ai, anger building up inside her. Although she knew she shouldn't flare up at the lady before her, she just couldn't contain her discomfort anymore.

"What the hell do you want from me?!" She yelled, causing Ai to back away just a little in shock. She never expected the younger to shout at her like that. Not that she was expecting Risa to start showering her with any gratitude either.

"You're angry?" Ai asked in bewilderment as her head twitched itself to the side. It's not everyday she gets to talk to a human. Although she likes observing them every now and then, especially this particular human being.

"Oh am I? I couldn't tell." The younger replied sarcastically, "Of course I am angry! What are you an alien or something?!" Risa shouted back, her arms flung about in the air.

"I'm not an alien. I'm-" Ai paused, contemplating about telling Risa her true identity. "Come on, lets just get out of here first." Changing the subject, Ai stood up with an outstretched arm as she waited for Risa to accept the gesture.

Risa stared in disbelief. What is wrong with this person? Letting out a sigh of defeat, she took hold of the small hand before her, allowing herself to be pulled up to her feet by Ai.

"Now.. This might make you a little dizzy for a second, but don't worry." The stranger smiled, her hand still holding on to Risa's tightly.

"What are you ta-" Before Risa could finish her sentence, her entire being suddenly felt like it was falling apart making her body shimmer into billions of tiny particles. Funny thing was, it didn't hurt one bit. And yes, it did make her feel giddy.

Thus vanishing into thin air.

***

The cool yet thin air filled the atmosphere drastically as white smoke lingered aimlessly around what seemed like a never ending white field of fluff. A young toddler lied flat onto the soft looking ground lazing blissfully as she rolled about. A satisfying smug plastered onto her tiny facial features which showed her current mood, happy and well... satisfied.

Her favorite carefree past time was suddenly cut short as she heard a familiar scream of another young girl, much like herself. Pushing herself up to direct her attention towards where the shriek was heard, she stared intensely in bewilderment as the figure of her most trusted companion came storming towards her, arms practically swinging about while screaming incoherent babbles.

"Run for it!!" The runner roared, grabbing hold of her friend's arm thus pulling her along.

"What's going on?" The formerly lazed up child asked as she recovered from the sudden change in events, sprinting past her friend. She was always better at the physical attributes as compared to her partner.

"S- s-he's ... b-ack." Was all the struggling runner could puff out due to the lack of air in her lungs at that moment. They both shared a look of panic as more screaming was made as they sprinted harder at the word "She"

The duo came to an abrupt halt and stared in horror as the formerly mentioned "She" person stood right before their very eyes, arms crossed not to mention looking very VERY pissed off.

"Howy kwaps." Lazed girl muttered out unconsciously.

She pointed a finger at the two young girls with a very disappointed frown showing on her face. "Watch you're language." She simply said.

"I told you, many times before. Never use you're powers. You can't control them yet." She said, her calm yet stern voice sending chills down their spines.

"But we-"

"I'm not done yet." The taller and older young lady dressed in white cut their reasoning. "You," she said pointing the finger at the younger of the mischievous pair "used your powers on me! And you," this time pointing at the older lazed child, "killed someone with yours!"

"How are you two going to pay for your actions?" She ended the accusations with arms crossed once again.

"But she was in trouble!"
"We saw!"
"You know!"
"And"
"That!"
"Big!"
"Huge!"
"Lousy!"
"Rotten!"
"No good!"
"Piece of dove kwap!"
"You weren't there!"
"And then you were going to die!"
"She was going to die!"

"WE JUST WANNA HELP!"

The pair ended their amazingly synchronic reasoning (yelling everything out might I add). With their arms now rested at their sides, previously flung about in various directions just to prove their points. As they tried to salvage themselves from any punishment they would be getting from their most valued elder.

"We just wanted to help Aineechan.." The older one spoke, softly this time looking awfully sorry using her puppy dog eyes as she stepped closer to her elder, tugging gently onto Ai's dress .

"Is it bad to help Aineechan?" The younger of the duo added, following close behind as she too tugged onto Ai's left side of her dress, looking up at the older with her big, round, teary eyes.

Sighing in defeat, Ai rolled her eyes at how easily she could give in to the pair. She knelt down to be on eye level with the girls, her expression softening into a warm smile as she held onto both their hands placidly.

"I know you two meant well, but you just can't go around diminishing people like that." Ai explained, her right hand letting go of the older child's hand, moving up to caress her cheeks.

"People?! That big monster isn't people!" Younger child burst out, her arms flew up in the air in the process.

"And don't think I didn't know that you talked her into it young lady." Ai pointed out sharply, making the youngest close her mouth shut. "I told you two countless times before about keeping the balance, didn't I? We can't just go around killing those 'monsters' no matter how bad they are." She continued her lecture.

"But-" The pair voiced out together, only to be cut off yet again.

"That would make you no different from them now would it?" Ai retorted, finally proving her point as the duo fell silent, directing there attention towards the ground, conscience stricken.

"Come on, lets go back" Ai said soothing the girls soft hair back and ushered them off into the never ending white mist.

[Chapter 6: No Time Left]

Lost within the dark gloomy night sky, a frightened young child wept, all curled up against the wall as she hugged her knees for some form of comfort. Suddenly, she didn't feel so brave anymore. Fear tends to kick in that way, after being stranded for the past few hours, wandering around unfamiliar grounds with no one around to call to for
help.

Aika had been walking around with a straight face, searching for any form of help possible for the past few hours. Now, all hope of finding help, lost, she sat in a dark alley crying. Thoughts of her family and her life back home filled her mind. What if she never found her way back? What if her most beloved father forgot about her? What if she could never see her Gakinee again? A fresh batch of hot tears filled her bloodshot eyes, tempting to flow down her cheeks. Whimpering in dismay, Aika buried her head into her arms shaken with fear, slowly she cried herself into deep slumber.

The sound of muffled voices shook Aika from her position. She tried to lift her tired and numb body up from the ground, instantly she covered her eyes from the sudden brightness that filled her vision. Before she knew it, the sun had already come out, it was morning and she had slept through the night.

A roar of laughter was heard followed by a voice of a child, mocking someone. "Oh look! She's going to cry."

"Cry baby, cry baby!!" A group of young boys crowded over a figure chanting merrily as a few laughed away.

Aika made her way towards the crowd of bullies, in a groggy manner, and spotted a girl no older then she was sprawled onto the ground. The girl's fist clenched tightly as she glared up at the spoken voice before her, teary eyed. Aika watched in horror as one of the boys picked the defenceless girl up by her ponytail, laughing mercilessly.

"Stop that!!" Aika yelled, now fully awakened, as she was unable to watch the abuse towards the stranger any longer. She rushed forward and slammed her fist into the jaw of the boy, sending him tumbling onto the ground screaming in pain.

A strong burning sensation filled the boy's left cheek as it quickly disintegrated into what seemed like dead skin cells. The crowd watched in horror as the boy's face turned a darker shade of black, burnt skin. The boy shrieked in fear as he felt his cheek turn rock hard. He scrambled away, in tears, running as far away from the person who malted his face, together with the crowd of kids following him not far behind.

Aika stared at the fleeing figured in shock. "What's wrong with him?" She pondered out loud nonchalantly. Maybe she didn't notice his stoned left cheek, or she probably thought he was some freak. Either way, the ten year old was pretty much unaffected by the public display of ... unusualness which occurred just seconds ago.

"Are you ok?" Aika asked directing her attention to the formerly bullied young girl, startling her from her thoughts.

"You!" She pointed at Aika, staring at her in awe.

"You too!"

***

Steam lingered around the pitch black cave, the silhouette of a lone rodent trembled vigorously, the moist on its body making its fur cluster together all damp. The heat within the cave was slowly becoming unbearable for its tiny form. A slight change of wind made its shivering body prickle, as it squeaked in fear, scampering away into a corner.

The warm air shimmered, forming dark particles to appear from out of nowhere. A figure of a ragged looking being with long, messy, dark hair emerged. His face was hidden under the hood of the long coat that he wore. Eyeing the innocent rodent, a smirk showed on his once hidden features. And with a flick of a finger, a freakish pitch escaped the rat as it cried it's last cry, a tiny pill of ash was left of the tiny observer. He continued his cantering into the dark hollow cave, and stalked towards yet another opening within the cave like atmosphere.

He stood in the middle of the darkness, and with a swift movement of his right arm, the room lit up filled with torches of blazing fire at every corner. Just then a strong gust of wind filled the lit cave, surprisingly infecting the burning torches at the same time, and a few more hooded figures appeared from thin air.

"It's time." The hooded man declared, his tenor voice echoing within the space. The other new faces, their hoods pulled back, took a quick yet unfriendly glance at one another, then smirked very unpleasantly.

Their wait was finally over.

***

Standing in front of a deserted looking house, Ai observed her surroundings. The front door stood ajar with burn marks scorched on it. Scratch marks imprinted itself on to the walls of the large mansion. Glass windows were darkened, some had cracks and some were shattered broken. One look at the place would be more than enough to tell that the house was a wreck.

'Too late.'

She mentally scolded herself, as she carefully took a peek into the house. A lone tear gradually slides down her cheek as she took in the sight before her. Bodies of young ladies lay motionless on the ground with terror stricken faces. Walking through the once lively hallway, Ai bent over placing her hand on each and every body she could find, covering its lifeless looking eyes. Silver orbs floated through the heart of the body and continued to float up into the dark night's sky.

"I'm sorry." She said, apologising to each soul, with more tears flowing down her flawless skin.

Ai proceeded discreetly into the largest room; the strong, foul stench of vastly decomposed bodies filled the air within the room.  Two more bodies were found. Bodies of which belonged to the owners of the big mansion. She knelt down, staring at the lifeless body, placing one hand onto his chest and another on his once terror stricken eyes.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't keep my word." She whispered to the body, as she was about to proceed.

The doors to the grand room suddenly slammed itself open, causing Ai to yelp out slightly, in shock.  A figure of two young girls came into Ai's view.

"Stay away from him!"

The smaller sized of the two yelled, as she dashed forward towards where Ai sat, shoving her aside.

"Papa?" The young girl cried out with her eyes all watery.

"Papa, say something!" She shouted as she shook the body before her.

No matter how hard she shook the body, the young girl couldn't get a single response from it. Ai gazed the girl her eyes filled with sorrow.

"You.." The girl muttered under her breath, turning her attention towards Ai.

"You did this.."
