Yeeh, the rules are messed up. But I guess they had to, cause it would be death to watch one big show with 40 countries. =p
I'm hopin the hosts won't be the same in the final as yesterday. -__-;;

I might check out the finals but I don't have enough interest for the semi-finals :lol:
I also think our (Finland's) Eurovision song is a boring, generic pop song. lol
I think it was Israel that had my favourite song last year, so I hope they have a good song again and do well :D Looks like they made it to finals

I saw like 10 seconds of every country in the re-cap.. they all sucked. When Lordi won some time ago, that was awesome.
I'm embarrassed for the Dutch act. Aw well, at least the NLs aren't taking this thing seriously anymore.. at least, that's what I hope. :lol:

I don't think I will watch this.
Ralph Siegel is out too, he was the producer of Dschingis Khan(covered by Berryz Koubou).
Don't really like him the way he's now, he became just an old asshole :)
The producer (Alex C. aka U96) for the german song is the one who made "Das Boot" - Wasn't that the first techno-song in the charts?
But for the contest swing again? That was last year a fail, it won't be better this year.

I can't believe I actually watched both semi-finals this year. It probably won't be as fun on Saturday at our Eurovision party now because there won't really be any surprises. As I was watching I gave all the songs a mark out of 10 (quality of song + entertainment value of song) and a lot of my high marked ones went out!
I'm voting for Iceland because it has a the most common chord progressions, a big note, a key change and a pretty young blonde girl. One must be technical about these things :D

According to google Norway is (was a week ago) the favorite to win. Looking at online hits etc. I think that guy pretty much sucked, lol. Part from that I haven't heard even one contestant. Not even Sweden. :D
I'll try to watch it if I'm home.

There's a few torrents with of all of the songs but I'm assuming I can't link to off-site torrents. Just do a search for Eurovision on the torrent site that was in the news again recently :D

I'm hoping for either Ukraine, Turkey, Azerbaijan or Norway. (and sweden but I don't want to seem like an ass x3)

This is the song with the biggest score to win ever if I'm not mistaken. Hilarious when it's the worst winning song to win ever too.

I'm amazed at how everybody I've spoken to has agreed Norway's song was at best "nothing special" and yet it won by so many points! I actually put money on Iceland to come in the top four at pretty good odds, quite chuffed :D

Is there anyone here who watched it in the UK? We were mostly talking over Graham Norton so I don't really know how well he did. Definitely not as good as Terry though because at no point did we actually stop because he said something funny.

This was my first year watching. I saw the finals live online and I remember thinking Norway was weird and kinda boring. He kinda... shouted rather than sang through most of the chorus. The only thing I enjoyed about the performance was that one of the backup singer/dancers looked vaguely like Lover Cindy from The L Word and that cracked me up. :lol:
I liked Iceland a lot, but most of the others I enjoyed ended up at or near the bottom. :angry:
It was very interesting and fun, though. I can't believe how many of the damn songs were in English, though. wtf.

He did ok. The best part of Eurovision was always Terry Wogan taking the piss out of everything, Norton managed a similar type of pisstaking although I'd have preferred Terry.
Apparently Eurovision rules say that the vocals have to be sung live by someone on the stage so did anyone see Romania (Elena - The Balkan Girls) where they got around the rules (cheated) by having the woman providing the vocals stand right at the back of the stage while someone else lipsynced to her voice. Cheats! I wonder why they did it? Very weird.
