Title: Question for new gamers / people under 20 / casual gamers

I've been wondering about this for quite a while, so here goes:

For those of you who are new to gaming or didn't grow up with gaming, did you ever checked out the older games for the (S)NES? What I'm trying to say is that if you started out on a Playstation 1 or 2, Xbox or Gamecube, you may not be interested in checking out the older games? I grew up with the NES and witnessed every enw generation of consoles.. that's why I'm curious to find out how it is for younger gamers.

I'm talking about classic games like Super Mario 1, 2 and 3, Megaman/Rockman 1-4, the first Mario Kart, the first Zelda etc, etc.

Please tell your first console was, if/why you checked out the older games and what you thought of them  :) Do they even compare to modern games, are they still worth your time or does Mario 3 still kick the ass of every platform game out there?

I started out with serious gaming on the PS1 so I think I can comment on this.

And the answer is no, I haven't really paid attention to older games apart from the brief time spent on the first Sonic and Mario All Stars from when I was about 9. I understand why they're admired and respect the changes they've made on the industry. I was thinking of retro games that I played through properly and all I could think of was Symphony of the Night but that was out on the PS1 XD

But then I have played games released recently that are old school in nature, but packaged in nice shiny next gen presentation e.g. Braid, and found to enjoy them immensely.
