Try making the promotion video for “3, 2, 1 BREAKIN’ OUT!” - the coupling song of MORNING MUSUME。’s 39th single “Shouganai Yume Oibito” to be released on May 13. Using a combination of the free distributional video footage of the members and other footage, make a PV to your liking by matching the video to the music clip being distributed, starting from scratch and express the image of the song with self-made animations and more!

It’s all up to your taste to see what kind of PV you can come up with.

The submitted materials will be judged by producer TSUNKU♂ and the members of MORNING MUSUME。 The results will be announced at the ANIME EXPO 2009 to be held in America in July.

This is a world-scale contest, so don’t miss out your chance to win!

I tried converting the files in adobe after effects and premiere pro but very bad things happened... :ph43r:
and then there were some iffy conversion websites...

I'm so hoping some kind soul will be nice enough to convert the files to avi...I'd take it even if someone just threw all 82 files onto one time line and hit render in avi.

But, you can use this (http://download.cnet.com/Pazera-Free-MOV-to-AVI-Converter/3000-2194_4-10798308.html?tag=mncol) to convert the files to avi or mpg. I grabbed it and it seems to work pretty well.

I'd be interested in this competition, but...the fact that they used a green screen makes me wonder if they want us to use it..and that's WAY above my level.. XD

Post by: Datalanche on May 14, 2009, 07:38:48 PM: I thought about maybe throwing something together, but after seeing the material there's no way I can do it. I barely have a handle on PowerDirector for Windows and iMovie on Mac OS X. These softwares are hardly production quality, let alone messing with green screens. Besides, with four grand on the line, I doubt just MM fans will be trying to win. There's going to be people who have industrial strength apps fighting for that stuff. Still, everyone who wants to try should try. They may pick something that looks like heart went into it versus production value. Never know. In any case, I'm out, cuz I have no chance in either. I don't know that I could listen to that song several dozen times proof-viewing without going crazy. XD

Although, the JunJun solo shots, I could watch those all day. :heart:

Also, another good conversion tool is Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/?article=download). It's available for Window, Mac, and even Linux.

@Sukoshi what happened when you try converting them in premiere?
I edit using premiere, and I tried exporting the videos to avi (ntsc dv setting). they turn out ok...
I'd love to send them to you, but with my connection's upload speed of 10kb/s, it will take forever XD

If you don't mind, could you point me to some green screen tutorials? I've been trying to use the chroma key effect in premiere but it's not working too well T_T

by the way, are you guys using ntsc DV or ntsc DV widescreen setting? (like, do you eliminate the top and bottom bar in the original footage?)

Also, I know I saw this :shocked: Berryz OPV a while ago. It was originally on Stage6, then someone moved it to YT, but I think they got their account suspended. Anyhow, it was SUPER AWESOME, like floating cubes flying everywhere, with a different video on every side, and the background being all neon outlining different videos. I hope that guy tries too.

But look back at these, I'm not sure any of them could do green-screen. Hmm, this is going to be might interesting.

So far the main problem is what to do with the green screen - and the problem is not in removing it(there's plenty of tutorials on this) but in putting something in its place, since we're not allowed to use any copyrighted material(though Creative Commons license is said to be an exception). Anyways good luck to everyone - can't wait to see all those unique OPVs and let's see who's gonna win :on GJ:

Wish I was good at making OPVs but Im not lol but I think I will try it out for fun =D.
I just need to find a free program to edit everything, etc.

@Sukoshi : Oooh I liked that A Vision of Eternity OPV you made! Also I remember watching that Morning Musume Drama video a while back and loved it! <3

Well, when I asked my OPV-maker girlfriend (TheKueken) if she was going to enter, she said she wasn't sure because "I can't make them make out with each other with that footage" :lol:

What if the forums, as a whole made a karaoke, of ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL?

and forums can elect their soloist. and we put it all together burn it on a cd and give it to the TSOONK!

I think that would be cool to show our devotion as fan forums.

feel free to pass the suggestion along.

if people agree we would only have 3 weeks to get the parts sent to me so I can mix them in garage band and master the tracks.

I am totally all for help. and what not since I have never mixed more than just myself.

please ask any questions you want just let me know what you think?

the fact that I still see green is driving me crazy too~
It's hard upping the threshold enough to take it all out without it chewing away at the wrong things....maybe I can get the formula right after playing around some more.

I managed to get rid of it by setting my green to 41 244 24
the thing that still bugs me about the dance shot is the stupid green glow. Ugh it's either keep the glow or lose some hats and legs >__<!

and then I thought to make a background with the glowy colours so it wouldn't stand out XD lol the irony...removing the green screen to add in a green background....

Dude!!! that works for me :) thanks! the line is gone ^_^ (though i think the glow is there to stay, haha)

as for the glow... D'you think you can use the "change to color" effect so that the glow changes color? I haven't tested this, but the thought just occurs to me :P

But your project is looking very good ;)

I would've liked to brighten a bit up the colors, but it's been my first attempt at chroma keying and I was constrained by my own lack of ability. Still, the pictures I took for the background are very adequate for the resulting colors.
But I've been watching the other submissions and they've given some ideas. I'll probably stick with this one, but in case of emergency I'll try some other more acid-looking one.
BTW, there are some submissions that are just, WOW! But I don't give up yet :P

I played with PowerDirector for an evening just to see what I could do, but I couldn't even sync the clips up to the audio, much less get to mucking with the green screen. :sweatdrop: I think I'll just have to pass. I'm not very good with this stuff and I get frustrated too easily trying to do something creative with video.

Edit: To hell with what I just said. I'm going to go for it. I know I will not win, come close, and it may just be downright mediocre, but I want to make one, so.. I am. :w00t: I am so going to regret this once I see how bad it ends up, but oh well, no guts no glory! :lol:

Post by: elgie on May 25, 2009, 11:48:43 AM: Well, I can give some tips of help with the sync/edit stuff. If your software allows multritracking - which I suppose it does- load one long video which you'll use as "background" (Once you've applied the chroma filter and rendered it in a new video). Then add the parts you want to edit in another track above the "background". Preview the new track until you find which part you want to keep and crop it. Put a bookmark in the beginning of the clip so that you can cut and paste it onto the "background" track(You don't need to do this, but I've noticed it saves a lot of time while rendering the video to its definite version). This will work fine for the long videos (the dance, close-ups and "long" shots) 'cause they have the exact same lenght. As for the shortest clips, you'll have to mess around a little with them.

Maybe you'll have to adjust the audio so that it starts before the video timeline ( I had to in mine, but I'm not sure whether it's due to a mistake I did while rendering). It's a good thing, though, since it'll allow you to add the title credits.

I haven't rendered it yet so you'll have to double check your finished product to make sure it's perfect but it's just to give you an idea of how much you have to forward your close ups, etc. to get the singing to match up.

At H!O someone mentioned the huge similarity between Pharrell's My Drive Thru video XD.

So I guess the final submissions in total is 407 videos. Pretty good.
Forgot to post my submission, so here is my sister and my submission for the OPV contest. Cant believe it's over. Time flew, wish we had more time to add things but overall we both loved working on it.

I feel like some videos got shafted, although most of them were "Dance shot/closeup formula with glitzy effects", as opposed to some of the cheaper looking nominees with creative concepts. On the other hand, some of the "glitzy effects" were pretty boss.

But really, the first two? WTF?

Honestly, I was completely surprised. We really did have fun making it and after hearing 3, 2, 1 Breakin' out for a month everyday, we knew we would either get sick of the song or love it to pieces. We loved it to pieces XD. When they said they were going to be 3 winners, my sister and I looked at eachother and thought "huh 3?" o.O and then Bryan told us he saw our OPV in the big screen in the back and I thought he was just joking around.

They said there was the MM prize, Tsunku prize, and then the big winner. Then it was silent and Aichan said "I.C chan!"(in the cutest voice) and I didnt even flinch XD
I was thinking "what? Did I hear what she just said? Did she say...." and then the guy said it again and I grabbed my sister's hand and squeezed it and whispered OMG and she looked at me and said OMG and then she gave a little scream and then Iceymoon who was sitting next to us started pointing at us and people turned around to see us. A bit embarrassing lol but I had my hand over my mouth in disbelief. Seriously, I was thinking what the heck is going on? is this real? and kept saying "OMG Ivet OMG Ivet".

Then when people turned around there was a gap in the middle and it felt like we were front row and could see Morning Musume, Yossie and Tsunku perfectly lol (my sister later told me she felt the same way =P) and then they waved at us and the embarrassment went away and we waved back. Then they played the OPV (too bad the sound was off sync at AX) but when I was watching it, again it hit me that Morning Musume watched our OPV and liked it =D

My sister said "Claudia Im going to cry..." XD I told her "me too...." XD The OPV played and then we started singing along and I still couldnt believe it. What I loved was Gaki's comment <3 HAHA she liked it because she looked the cutest. Then I loved how Yossie joined in and said that SHE was the cutest (H&A). I saw Gaki dancing when they played our OPV and she made me feel so much better XD.

Anyways, I had missed the Guest Reception by a few minutes that day so I was a little sad but after that, I forgot all about it and that made up for what I missed.
When they sang 3, 2, 1 Breakin' Out a second time, I felt so happy because ahhhh I dont know how to describe it. It felt like it was so worth it working on that OPV. We dont need a prize, the fact that Morning Musume liked it was enough, that itself was the best prize for us. <3 Thank you MM! <3

We were sitting in D5, the fifth row in the center.
We were going to keep our username with our real names like we had it at first but then we thought it was too long and shortened it XD Now we wish we didnt shortened it so they could say our names >.< that would have been awesome but oh well c'est la vie.

About a month ago, UFA contacted us through myspace and told us that our prize was ready. My sis and I were thinking "prize? :wth what prize?"

We sent in all the info they asked for and we got it today!
They sent us two autographed Kimagure Princess CDs with our names and message written on it.
I think it was Aichan who wrote the message and our names.

My CD had my name, and "Cute PV", then something in Japanese, and then "thank you"!
My sister's CD had her name and "Nice PV" and then the same message.

I had a feeling it was going to be the Kimagure Princess CDs when they contacted us but I didn't know they would be autographed plus have our names included so that was a nice surprise. :heart:
