Kanon is really adorable. i'm glad shes finally getting some much needed attention.
Kanon is 149cm which would have been under minimoni's height restriction. what other hello project eggs or cute & berryz members are under 150cm?
does anyone think its a possibility that Takahashi will be placed back into minimoni?
does this mean a revival of the other old groups as well?
Maybe this is a way to bring back some popularity into hello project.

Mini Moni was musically my favourite ever thing to come out of H!P so hopefully it will be as fun as it used to be!

Just when I thought new H!P was headed down the right road they turn around and crash into a bus! Why does Tsunku always try and bring back the oldies? Hasn't he had enough with all those cover songs!? I'm not looking forward to this because I feel like mini moni has been dead for 5 years and bringing them back now won't help current h!P. The only thing that is exciting is Kanon because she is awesome but the whole bringing back mini moni from the dead just irks me. Maybe if they bring in Lin Lin I'll be happy but for now :thumbdown:

I know people are so gaga for Kanon, but I barely know who she is. :lol: Also, if they are going to cover old stuff... :bleed eyes: I used to think the music was cute back in 2001, but I was 15 at the time. :P Now it's just..... reeeeeaaaaaally weird to listen to. Everything after 2002 when members started changing was just atrocious. I am still scarred by that R&B crapola. New music please. Let's let the past be the past at least in that regard.
Personally, I'd rather Tsunku focus on C-ute and Berryz. I like how active they've been lately.

I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea, especially if they are going to try to reach to the same audience that old mini-moni did. It'll be fun to have ridiculous(ly horrible) kid songs again, and I'm always happy to see eggs get more attention...
(Though seriously. Kanon again? I love her, I do... but damn. She's the Reina/Taka of the Eggs).

I am not in favor or against them this new minimoni thing.
I like minimoni and their half-ass coreographies and songs... I like revivals too, but if they are going to revive Minimoni then they will revive Tanpopo also and Pucchimoni and so on... They are so going to put eggs in them because they have too many girls again.
They are soiling Golden Era Units... and H!P so DO NOT have that "kiddy-let's-eat-vegetables" no more.
Let's hope for the best and for Tsunku to have more originality in the future... if there is one.

I'd love to see Koharu in this actually, especially since the kids will definitely recognize her :heart: Of course, this is assuming that they're trying to appeal to the kids specifically again.

But actually I'm kinda happy about this. I was just thinking not to long ago that H!P used to have tons of sub groups that you could see in the concerts but now it's pretty cut an dry with just the 3 groups and Manochan. Buono! is a perfect example of how mini moni used to be but it's just one group. Now there's guardian 4 but who knows how long that will last plus they are specific to the anime. It's not like the random groups he seemed to just make for the heck of it.
I don't think he necessarily had to make it Mini Moni but I'm glad to have a more dynamic H!P.
And I always did wonder why Mini Moni was always stated as just "on hold." He was probably planning this from the beginning. lol

Awesome (read: non-insane) choice by Tsunku! Linlin would really shine given this kind of opportunity.
As for her height, she's about Takahashi's height (153 cm), so the precedent for someone over 150 is there. She also fulfills the foreign member requirement, so I can't think of anything questionable about choosing her.
As for the other (two?) members, picking the least senior member of Morning Musume to be leader almost certainly means no other Morning Musume members will be selected. My money's on Okai Chisato and another Egg. Ogawa Saki? Okai Asuna? ...hmmm sisters in the same unit would be interesting. There's several Egg candidates to choose from, but I think I'd like to see how the Okai sisters would fit.
Probably not Shimizu Saki and Tsugunaga Momoko is out because of Buono. (Though Yaguchi Mari was in Tanpopo at the same time) Anyone else want to speculate?

Chisato was one of the girls that I thought of when I heard about the Minimoni revival. The only subgroup she has been a part of was Athena & Robikerottsu and I think she would fit perfectly for MiniMoni :lol:
The roster I imagined was - Kanon, Chisato, Shimizu Saki, 1 egg
Current lineup is Kanon, Linlin, ?, ?
If they're going to pick another one from the eggs, I think it'll be Maeda Irori. :lol:

How awesome is that! Linlin is super genki and will be great for Minimoni.
Words mentioned Irori, I think she would be good for Minimoni as well. :lol: She's only 12 but if Minimoni will be a kiddy unit again (and not that gangsta bullshit), I don't see it as a problem.
But I'm no good at making guesses so whatever! I'll just wait and see!

Kinda interesting that Lin2 is chosen, because she has always reminded me of Mika; in the sense of being professional and trying to 'fit in' with the others. Initially I felt like they were trying to hard, but I soon opened up to both of them. Anyway, good news.

As long as their songs are Tanpopostyle and Pucchimonistyle, I'm DOWN WITH THIS!!
There are so many units in H!P right now that don't have a DEFINITIVE style. C-ute, Berryz and Momusu all have both cute and cool songs; if you only heard the instrumentals of singles before the release, it'd be impossible to guess which unit is going to get the song.
But when you listen to old Tanpopo or Minimoni, you can tell instantly what it is (whether Tanpopo 1st gen or 2nd gen, even if they were different from each other, Tanpopo 1st gen had a definitive style and 2nd had its own). Pucchimoni's songs maybe didn't stand out that much as a cohesive style (to me all their singles are very different from each other), but their spirit on stage did.
So good stuff that could result from this:
+ Groups that have their own unique style and sound and not one that changes for each release
+ Lots of interesting, fresh mixes of people in units (Eggs please)
I'd love to see Sengoku in Tanpopo if Tanpopo still has adorable love song stuff. Because her smile could really melt an iceberg. :3
Bad stuff that could result from this:
+ If the songs are crap, they might tarnish the image of the golden old groups, as well.
+ If they shuffle the members, I'll be mad. New units need more time to find their place today. There was already backlash during 5th gen addition, today shuffling would suck even more because hardly anyone outside wota knows who these girls are.
Just have to trust that the management has put a lot of thought into this!! :tama-mad:

With all of the EC gone, there's pretty much only kids left. I doubt they'll make these units solely out of MM members. Actually, there are some girls in BK and C-ute who aren't exactly kids anymore either.

It seems like these new units will only be for the cover album and probably won't be releasing their own material. I could be wrong though :P I'm hoping for Eri to be in Pucchi or Tanpopo she really needs a unit!

I LOVE SUBUNITS!
Maybe they'll stick around after the cover CD if things go well. I don't think it's lame, because subunits usually give other girls a chance to shine (like LinLin in Mini Moni, for example). I can not WAIT for the member announcements.

If I could have a JunJun and Umeda Erika pairing with one of these groups, I swear to God I'll buy every DVD, single, and piece of junk merchandise ever made for them. It'd be AWESOME for then to be in Pucchimoni with.... hmmm, I'm not sure who I'd want for a third. But, that pair please. Either group. :banana:

i'm already thinking who will be in what unit.
Tanpopo - Eri or Risa as leader, Sengoku (egg) , Umeda Erika (Cute), Yurina kumai (BK) 2 short ones and 2 tall ones like old days.And please revive dark songs like Last kiss and Motto.
Pucchi moni - JunJun as leader would be yay, yuri sawada (egg), Maasa Sudo (BK) . I think these would fit the cool and cute image.
Minimoni - Linlin, Kanon (egg), i'm rooting for Mai (cute) and Osuna Okai (egg)
hopefully tsunku is thinking the same way~

My only real comment is: "Why?"
I mean, why now? Why bother reviving the old unit names? Why not just rename Buono! to Pucchi Moni, make that Reina/Ai/Risa Platinum 9 shuffle unit Tanpopo and be done with it?
I just don't understand the point. I don't think Pucchi Moni and Tanpopo have, as unit names, as big a draw as Morning Musume., or even Mini Moni. Might as well just make similar units with new names.
I dunno, I'm just confused as to the point of it other than to annoy old fans and get a bit of press :?

That would suck D: I mean, that would also make me question why bother bringing back the old unit names! Choosing new members for these units only makes sense to me if they're actually going to keep releasing later. Now they would be no different from any other concert shuffle.
And it also sucks because Kanon being chosen for Minimoni was one of the reasons why I still had hope that S/mileage wouldn't become a TNX unit, lol. If the unit is only for a concert & one cd release, well there goes that hope. Then the only ray of hope is that only their indie singles are released in that shop.

momusu, c-ute, berryu, mano, s/mileage are the main artists
I think Minimoni, Tanpopo & Pucchi Moni became a Momusu leader

The one beside Manoeri is Takechan, beside her could be Akari S. or Konatsu or Komine (but most likely it's Akari) and the one on the topmost right is def. Karin... and the one below her and beside Erika would have been Kanna's spot. XD :(

^Well not exactly mini moni yes but pucchi and tanpopo no. Mini moni is the only group appearing on the album tanpopo and pucchi members will be announced at hello project summer concert. I guess Takechan and Karin will be in the new mini moni its the only reason why they appear on the cover.

Nice to see the High-King lineup again :D So I guess with Kanon and Yuuka in their own groups Sakitty and Ayacho are probably gonna be in Tanpopo and Pucchimoni.(or Aa! and ZYX if they have new lineups)

With the exception of the redux versions of Viyuden and ZYX (for which I'm feeling @_@ ), I'm kind of optimistic about this. Since it's a cover album, it'll kind of be like a mini return of Uta Doki. :)

^I agree :( Mano is a happy girl but pucchi was like full of high energy! I think she will do a fine job though. Koharu is needed for pucchi that girl runs on sugar! I hope they keep giving us hints/spoilers since we won't know till the 15th of July. All of this is kinda exciting! :lol:

What can I say, I wasn't shocked at all at Sayu being in v-u-den, considering how much she's tried to establish herself as Rika v 2.0. :smhid The vapid, "I'm so cute it outweighs my subpar singing" personality has been done! And better!
There aren't too many groups that I'm super excited about, but I may yet be changed, once I get a listen to the album...

Anyway, the good thing about this album is that many of the songs are lower than usual H!P songs, so the girls get so show a whole new side of their voice. Of course, the biggest I've-been-waiting-for-this-so-long song is Linlin's solo: the girl can SING!! Also I think it's Chisato that's doing a great job on the Tanpopo song, tho I wasn't really focusing so might be the others, too. I just remember suddenly going like "is that vibrato that I hear??" :lol:
The bad thing is that most of the songs have nothing to do with the original concept of any of the units. The "Viyuden" song doesn't sound like Viyuden, the ZYX ballad is almost an insult to Iku ZYX!! and so on. Ackkk I just don't understand why they needed to dig up the old unit names for this. Shin Minimoni probably comes to the closest to actually sounding like Minimoni. Maybe they weren't even supposed to sound like the original units and yes I realize that these are marriage songs, but that's the only reason why I was cool w/ the units coming back - to have their unique images and styles back, so yes I am disappointed.

Overall, the album does have a distinct H!p sound after all regardless of these jpop classics. The solo songs are the best IMo. LInlin should get more vocal exposure in MM after this. She has such great emotion in her voice. :w00t:

Linlin voice is great, she deserves much more lines but maybe the problem is her strong accent... oh well i listened her song and Aichan song, love both of them (not much the songs but their singing)

Anyway, after some debate in IRC and whatnot, it's obvious to me that Linlin is fucked.
The girl is a great power singer, VERY good doing these lower range ballads and slow, soulful singing (from the few samples I've heard anyway). But there's a few problems, she's not popular enough to do well solo (believe me, no matter how hard they push the success would be very limited), and she just isn't that great while doing regular MM songs, especially live she seems very average. They should probably make some sort of serious(tm) singing group and put her in it. Mini Moni is not that group, lol.

This album has too many slow/boring songs for me :( I really like Ai-chan's solo, as well as the new Biyuuden and Minimoni songs but other than that I wasn't impressed. It's a pity, I thought Linlin did great with her solo, but I just couldn't get into it.

I agree with Shirenu... It makes no sense to me to have used the old units' names for this, when there's evidently no connection between the original units and these ones, aside from being from H!P and having the amount of members in the unit. Lame.
I'd rather 100000 times see the original members get back together for a special release of hits XD

I just listened to some.. I love the Tanpopo# song.. but is it just me or doesn't anyone think eririn sounded like miki in most parts? it really freaked me out.. :shocked she has a beautiful voice though :wub: and yea.. everyone's talking about chisato's vibrato now.. :lol:

i was disappointed in high-king since yuuka only got one line.. :cry: was so hoping they'd spread it around much.. it sounded that they just remembered yuuka is in the group too so she got the line near the end.. :smhid

Technically the correct term would be "campur" but katakana being based on pronunciation just makes things harder. :lol: In this case they've entitled it as チャンプル and not チャンプルー so I'm keeping it as it is.

I forget where I saw it, but it's supposedly a play off of the Okinawan dish "Champuru" (sometimes spelled Chanpuru) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanpur%C5%AB) The dish is a "mix" of various ingredients that are stir-fried together, thus "champuru" in the album title might be a reference to how the H!P girls are all mixed up, or dare I say...shuffled, in different combinations.
Personally, I've most often seen it romanized as "champuru".

Like Ayabie said, "champuru" is usually in katakana as チャンプルー, while the title of this album has チャンプル without the long sound at the end.
The latter could be romanized as "champur", and though it might seem unlikely, may refer to Nasi Campur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasi_campur), or Indonesian "Mixed Rice".
However, I want to theorize it might be some more of that famous Tsunku♂ Wordplay™, in this case a cross between "champloo" and "sample".

I love shin minimoni and c-ute feat. manoeri songs, they're such a happy go lucky song. Shin minimoni has the cutest voice grouped together from h!p and of course because of takechan :lol: while the c-ute song is really awesome and I really like the manoeri solo part :D You guys should watch the original pv by KAN, it's epic :lol:

Favorite song from this has to be Linlin's solo. Other songs I thought were good - Ai-chan's solo, C-ute/Mano Eri, Zyx alpha, and shin minimoni. A pretty good album overall.

I can't get into this album at all, I've given it time and I've given it several listens but it depresses me even more.
I think the fact that this is more in the same vein as the likes of the Douyou Pops and Folk Songs albums didn't help me really. I expected a lot with the brandishing of the names of Minimoni and the like on there and it did set alarm bells ringing early on that I should be wary, even so I think that I must have been uber excited in the back of my mind as I was left wanting.
The songs are all too dull for me and I can't think of any that stand out for me, I'm hoping for a couple of things from this though. First, that the names of old units being slapped on here wasn't simply a cash-in idea and that we'll never hear of them again. Secondly that if the units do stick around that they'll have a bit more character to them, make them more like the units of old or at least give them something new and unique. I'm not sure if I'd rather them stay around or vanish if they keep giving them this dull as dishwater music to sing.
