Wow, I watched the first episode yesterday. This dorama is so beautiful made and looks in many parts from the requisites like the anime. Shida Mirai is just perfect for this role.

Shida Mirai now has a tomato-phobia?
Young actress Shida Mirai also had the chance to take part in an illumination event. She lightened all Christmas lights and the Christmas tree at the "akasaka Sacas" complex in Tokyo. The whole illumination is called "White Sacas – The Rink At Akasaka Sacas" since it includes a nice little ice rink.
Shida is currently playing the starring role in the TBS dorama "Shokojo Seira" and it seems like that her role had some effects on her own personality. "The scene where I get hit by tomatoes was really intense. I still wasn’t able to eat any tomatoes since we filmed that scene." About the illumination itself she commented, "I was really moved, it’s absolutely beautiful. I’d like to come here with my friends."
The tree will be there until the end of the year while the lights are going to brighten up the complex until February next year. One part of the whole set-up even projects a message onto the night sky, saying "White Sacas Believe! In The Sky". The ice rink at the "Sacas Plaza" inside the akasaka Sacas complex will stay open to the public until February as well.

Mirai Shida stars in Ghibli's "Arrietty"

Teen actress Mirai Shida (16) has been chosen as the lead voice in the upcoming Studio Ghibli film "Karigurashi no Arrietty." This will be Shida's first voice acting role. In addition, she will be teaming up with Ryunosuke Kamiki (16), whose previous voice roles include the Studio Ghibli films "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Moving Castle."
The "Karigurashi no Arrietty" movie was in December. Adapted from the fantasy novel "The Borrowers" by Mary Norton, the story follows a family of "little people" who live beneath the floorboards of a house, surviving by secretly "borrowing" items from the humans who live there.
Shida plays the lead as Arrietty, one of the borrowers, while Kamiki plays Sho, the human boy who discovers Arrietty. The pair previously worked together in the 2007 drama series "Tantei Gakuen Q."
Besides Shida and Kamiki, the film's cast includes Tomokazu Miura (58) and Shinobu Otake (52) as Arrietty's parents, Pod and Homily. Keiko Takeshita (56) plays Sho's great-aunt, and Kirin Kiki (67) plays one of the human family's helpers. Although the four of them have voice acting experience, none of them have been in a Studio Ghibli film before.
"Karigurashi no Arrietty" opens in theaters on July 17.

Hayami, Shida to co-star in live-action "Hammer Session!"
Namoshiro Tanahashi's manga series "Hammer Session!" is being turned into a live-action drama, starring Mocomichi Hayami (25) and Mirai Shida (17). TBS will air the series next season.
The popular comic was originally serialized from 2006 to 2009. In the drama version, Hayami plays a genius swindler who escapes from a prison transport vehicle and assumes a new identity as a high school teacher. He conducts his classes in an extreme style known as "hammer session," forcing his students to become stronger.
Shida plays one of the students. Although she was celebrating her birthday at the show's press event on Monday, her fellow cast members surprised her by throwing her into the swimming pool.
The rest of the cast includes Jingi Irie (17), Manami Higa (23), Kaoru Sugita (45), Naomasa Musaka (56), and Fumiyo Kohinata (56). The series will premiere this July in TBS's Saturday 7:56pm time slot.

Mirai Shida was fantastic in a supporting role in 2007 televsion drama "Dream Again". The drama starred Takashi Sorimachi and the ever lovely Ai Kato, and Mirai's performance was exceptional. :yep:

Shida Mirai holds press conference for her LISMO drama

On November 26th, a press conference for LISMO drama “POV~Shida Mirai no Soredake wa Miraide!~“, and Shida Mirai who stars in the drama, made an appearance.
This drama is made as another story for her upcoming horror movie “POV~Norowareta Film~“, and each episode will be 5 minutes long. Her co-star for the movie, Kawaguchi Haruna, and Komoto Junichi of comedian duo “Jicho Kacho” will also appear in the drama.
Shida will play the role of herself in the drama for the first time, and she commented, “I was confused how much I should act as I am, but the director told me that it’s ok to be the way I am. Though I felt it’s easier to act as somebody else at first, it’s become easier to play myself when I got used to it. It is so me that I started putting my hands up while talking, and use body language so much.”
This drama will be about Shida seeking for what she likes, and what she is interested in, and canned tuna is one of things she likes. She showed her strong love toward canned tuna, saying, “The way I like to eat it is to cut little bit of oil out from the can, and just eat it. I eat tuna rice ball every morning. It makes me feel relieved when I eat it getting home all tired.”
According to Shida, she is not good at dealing with scary things, and she revealed, “I was told by a psychic medium that I’m a type of person who goes near the spirit on my own accord. I have tried not to get involved in scary things until now… I carry around some salt (for purification) in my wallet these days.”
“POV~Shida Mirai no Soredake wa Miraide!~” will start distributing on December 2nd (total 5 episode), and the movie “POV~Norowareta Film~” is scheduled to be released on February 18th 2012.

^^ That was a good drama special to check out, Sotsu Uta. It was from 2010 and it consisted of 4 shows where each of them had the lead in one, Masami though was in all of them as a host of a radio show. Mirai was so, so funny XD in her episode where she fell for another student so bad but couldn't get around to telling him and kept going back to whine and ask for advice from her best friend, played by..... Shiori. :O

Shida Mirai to release her second photo book

It’s been revealed that actress Shida Mirai will be releasing her second photo book, “Mirai ~Chiisai Desu Kedo, Nani ka?~“, on March 28th.
Shida made her break as an actress as a 13 year old in the drama, “14-sai no Haha“, playing the role of a pregnant middle school student. Now 18-years-old, Shida will show off her ‘maturity’ through this photo book with various shots and a long interview.
The actress commented, “There are many photos that make me think, ‘I’ve grown a lot’. I want people to know that change by looking through this photo book.” She also expressed, “It would be fantastic if people enjoy this photo book with the same feeling of excitement when reading a manga.”
To commemorate the book’s release, Shida will hold a handshake event on March 31st at Bunkyodo Book Store in Shibuya.

Shida Mirai holds her 2nd photo book release event
On March 31st, actress Shida Mirai held a release event for her new photo book, “Mirai ~Chiisai Desu Kedo, Nani ka?~“, at Bunkyodo Book Store in Shibuya.
This is Shida’s 2nd photo book, and fans will be able to experience all four seasons with the actress. Shida shared that her favorite shot is the one where she cuts her long hair that she spent 2 years growing out.
This photo book also commemorates Shida’s graduation from high school. She confessed, “I hope to meet someone wonderful before I turn 20.”
Shida revealed that her type is actor Abe Hiroshi, and explained, “His atmosphere, but I like his face!” Although her dream of “eating crepes in Harajuku with her boyfriend” didn’t come true, she stated, ”I want to do it with Abe-san even if it’s my role! I don’t mind playing the role of his daughter, but I’m aiming for it someday!”
When asked what she would like to graduate from, Shida said, “I gained body fat, so I want to graduate from overeating. When my mom makes gyoza, I eat like 30 of them.”

Info from Oricon on Mirai's next drama, Yukie will be playing her mother? :O
On May 20th, NTV announced a new drama for the upcoming summer season called ‘Ghost Mama Sousasen ~Boku to Mama no Fushigi na 100 Nichi~‘ starring actress Nakama Yukie in the role of a ghost.
Nakama is going to play a police woman working at a Community Safety Department called Uehara Choko. Uehara has a very bright and obliging personality and cannot look away when other people are in trouble. She’s living a happy family life together with her husband played Sawamura Ikki, her daughter played by Shida Mirai, and her son played Kimino Yuma.
NTV is going to air ‘Ghost Mama Sousasen’ every Saturday at 9:00 pm starting in July.
