Her career is getting back on track, I saw her last year in a supporting role in Tobo Bengoshi, but could not find any short clips of that show.

On August 22nd, actress Yada Akiko attended a press conference for the original drama series, “Oh! Debbie“, which will air on the new BS digital channel, “BS Skapa!” (Skapa JSAT). As this will be her musical debut, Yada said, “This will be my first time both singing and dancing. I am working hard with my lessons everyday so I can show a proper act.”

Yada will play the role of ‘Tanaka Karin’, a 29-year old introverted woman who fulfills her dream of passing the entrance exam for the musical troupe, “Top Hat”. However, Karin is put into the group of ‘leftovers’ called, “Debbie”, that is filled with chubby people. From a troubled life, Karin produces miracles through “Debbie”.

“It’s difficult. There are lots of things I have to do other than acting. I hope to find a new side of myself,” commented Yada, and continued, “I want to create an entertaining piece of work that is fun and flashy, something that people can cry and laugh at.” When asked what she plans to do from here on, she answered, “Right now, I am busy with ‘Oh! Debbie’, so my head is only filled with dancing.”

Meanwhile, Mori Kumiko (52) will play the role of ‘Daigo Arisa’, a former Top Hat actress who is now the ’center’ of Debbie, and Sasamoto Rena (26) will play the role of ‘Saienji Anna’, a new Top Hat actress who comes from New York.

“Oh! Debbie” will air every Saturday at 10:00 PM, with a total of four episodes.

Good cast, including Nana Katase, Hiroshi Tamaki, Tsuyoshi Ihara, Ryo, Mirai Moriyama, and in a very nice supporting role, gravure idol Megumi.
