Ryoko Shinohara (篠原 涼子 Shinohara Ryōko, born August 13, 1973 in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture) is a Japanese singer and actress. She began her career as a singer in the Japanese female pop band Tokyo Performance Doll, and after its break-up, began a solo singing career with producer Tetsuya Komuro. She is perhaps most famous among anime enthusiasts for providing the theme song to the Japanese version of Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. The single produced by Tetsuya Komuro sold over 2 million copies. She released singles regularly until 1998, then concentrated on her acting career, which is successful today. By 2004 she was one of the most popular actresses in Japan. She married on December 8 2005 to actor Masachika Ichimura, 24 years her senior. She gave birth to a boy on May 10, 2008, just one day before the Mother's Day of that year.

Good to see the show is back on the road, XD she has always been a huge fovorite of mone, she puts females half her age to shame. :thumbsup
This was certainly one of the best dramas ever, not to be missed, especially for Ryoko's performance.

This was another fantastic thing Ryoko appeared in, Uchoten Hotel. It's got probably the best cast ever for a movie, 8) unbelievable ensemble of stars, first time watching it didn't know that was Ryoko in it, she plays a funny call girl in the film, she's the one in the blonde wig. :)

On September 8th, actress Shinohara Ryoko attended a product launch event for DyDo Drinco’s can coffee brand, “DEMITASSE COFFEE“, as the company’s CM character.

This marked Shinohara first public appearance since she announced her pregnancy with her second child on September 1st. When asked about her husband Ichimura Masachika’s reaction and the baby’s desired gender, she answered, “He is happy. It doesn’t matter which gender.”

Shinohara married actor Ichimura in December 2005, and had their first child in 2008. The second child is due sometime next spring, and she plans to continue working while carefully considering her physical condition. As reporters congratulated her, she shyly said, “Thank you.”

The actress made her debut in 1990; when questioned about her ‘turning point’, Shinohara explained, “I sang and appeared on variety shows; now I’m acting. Being involved with this job, I have many opportunities to meet all kinds of people, so every day is like a turning point.” Regarding her private life, she shared, “There are times when work is difficult, but my friends support me. At such times, I feel fulfilled.”

In the CM, Shinohara presents the new product with the concept, “Fulfills you. DEMITASSE“. She promoted the product saying, “It became a CM I personally like. I hope it fulfills everyone.”

The CM will broadcast starting September 19th.

On September 17th, actress Shinohara Ryoko attended a stage greeting for the movie, “Unfair the answer“. Last month, Shinohara announced her pregnancy with her second baby, and has been vigorously promoting the movie.

During the event, a letter from director Sato Shimako was presented, and to this ‘unfair’ surprise, Shinohara broke into tears of emotion. She expressed. “Director Shimako, thank you very much. I am very happy. I am very thankful to have made ‘Unfair’ with everyone, to be able to stand here with the cast, and to have so much people gather at this place. I will be resting for a little bit, but I will do my best to be able to stand at a place like this again with a smile.”

Along with Shinohara, Sato Koichi, Yamada Takayuki, Terajima Susumu, Omori Nao, and director Sato attended the stage greeting. Regarding Shinohara’s endurance, Sato commented, “To be one woman is difficult, and despite that, she was the leader who brought things together, so I don’t think it was just an ordinary thing. However, she is someone who considers the feelings of others and their needs, so I feel the male team was able to keep up with her.”

“Unfair the answer” is currently showing in theatres nationwide.

Actually Kii Kitano will be in a new drama special on television- she was not in the new movie:

Kitano Kii to star as a detective in new “Unfair” drama special
Today it was announced that young actress Kitano Kii (20) is going to star in a special drama called “Unfair the special ~Double Meaning / Nijuu Teigi~” on Fuji TV this fall.

“Unfair” was a very popular detective drama starring Shinohara Ryoko (37), and it aired back in 2006. The series also spawned a special drama in the same year and a movie in 2007. On September 17th, the series’ second movie, “Unfair the answer“, will see Shinohara will finally reprise her role as detective ‘Yukihira Natsumi‘. might be quite unrelated but a few weeks ago her husband, Ichimura Masachika, was a guest on Arashi's Saturday night show, Arashi ni Shiyagare, and said some things regarding their marriage. I usually associate her with a cool type of woman but after watching this, she seemed like a very sweet and caring wife.

Ryoko gave birth to her second son back in February, and she has indicated she wants to gradually get back to work after the family has settled down......but hope she takes her time and enjoys spending it with her husband, actor Masachika Ichimura, and their two boys for awhile longer.....

Ryoko's first drama in a long time is starting up on April 11th and is called Last Cinderella, some info on it with a short promo video for it too. :O

It is said that 60% of unmarried women between the ages of 25 ~ 35 find themselves becoming more masculine. The drama will feature “Oyaji Joshi” (lit. old-guy woman, a woman who acts like she is an old man ) who devotes herself to work.

‘Toyama Sakura’ (Shinohara) is a 39-year-old woman who has not had a boyfriend in 10 years. Though she works as a vice store manager at a beauty parlor named “HAPPY-GO-LUCKY” and is in very high demand by their clients due to her amazing skills, she is careless about her style.

She has a tender heart and a strong sense of justice, but she can be cowardly in terms of love. Recently, she is flustered by a couple of beard hairs that have started growing on her chin, which she thinks is due to overworking and a hormonal imbalance. Afraid of gradually transforming into a man herself, she decides to attend a certain party and there she meets the “carnivorous” pro BMX rider ‘Saeki Hiroto’ (Miura)

The other love interest of Sakura in this drama is ‘Tachiban Rintaro’ (Fujiki), the manager of “HAPPY-GO-LUCKY”. Though Rintaro looks cool at first sight, he has a wicked tongue and loves dirty jokes.

Hard to keep this franchise down, it's supposed to be the end as Ryoko will be returning in another 'Unfair" movie called 'The End' which is coming out on September 5th, first mini trailer for it just was released.

The film has a double cast - A cast of women who knew each other back in high school, and a
cast of girls who play the women when they were high school students

Look for Naomi Watanabe, Eiko Koike, Suzu Hirose (she plays the same character as Ryoko), Maika Yamamoto,

Ryoko’s new film 「人魚の眠る家」/ Ningyo no Nemuru Ie
(The House Where the Mermaid Sleeps) has it’s world premiere tomorrow.

Ryoko san and Hidetoshi Nishijima play a married couple who are already
separated, and soon to divorce, when their daughter is drowned and
is left in a vegetative state. They are given the choice by doctors to stop the artificial life
support in order to donate her organs, or to wait for the girl’s heart to give out.....

Based on a novel by celebrated author Keigo Higashino, full release will be in November.

Look for Sayaka Yamaguchi, Rena Kawaei, and Kentaro Sakaguchi in supporting roles.

Recently watched 今日も嫌がらせ弁当 (Kyo mo Iyagarase Bento / “Today Again Naughty Bento”), English Title : Bento Harassment.

Starring Ryoko Shinohara and Kyoko Yoshine, with support from Rena Matsui (big sister) and Kasumi Yamaya (school friend)

The lead characters are a single mother and a rebellious daughter, and the communications are nearly completely broken.
Mom (Shinohara) decides to communicate with her daughter by making bento lunch decorated with the life of this mother daughter struggle. The daughter ( Yoshine) finds the lunches cringe worthy, but her classmates are very impressed, not realising fully that
this is a war being fought.
