Amen to that. I never 'expect' a certain theme or anything from a single, you never know with Momusu. They could have a string of ballads, then suddenly an up-beat dance song, or vice-versa.

After listening to the preview, my first thought was "omg, they took Happy Summer Wedding and crossed it with Odore Morning Curry!".
Then as I went on, my mind conjured up a mental image of them in a Arabian palace, prancing around in a lavish dining hall, in front of a banquet table laden with bowls of curry, and dressed in Indian saris...

Eh, techno-y sounds don't really work me, but I couldn't help getting a golden era vibe from it all, which hopefully is a good thing. I think the PV is definitely going to be interesting.

The pre-chorus and chorus syncopation is still very modern-Tsunku. Along with the strings. Huh, so Golden Age was characterized by brass, will New Golden be strings-based? :thumbsup

I don't usually listen to previews, but for some reason I decided to check this one out. I like the pace of the song, but it sounds a bit too techno/trance-y to me. While I was excited that Eri's getting to be one of the leads in this song, it sounds pretty obvious to me that they added a synthesizing effect to her vocal track. Eri's vocal range is high enough, but with this she sounds almost like Yuukarin to me, which is neither a bad nor a good thing, just the impression that it gave me.

the beat is more uptempo, finally, and I do like the fact that Eri is the lead, if that indeed is the case, I heard her voice through most of the songs anyway. But... I wonder if this song can be performed live with little problems. the verses sounds like synth and the speed is like 1.5x of normal. If they try to sing live, I just can't help that they'll be out of breath during the middle. the chorus ain't too bad, though. I really like it.
now, the similarity between this and SYO/NR is debatable... personally, it sounds not as emo as SYO/NR, but still a little emo, but a happier emo. actually i think it have the same feel along the lines of Aki Urara. granted, I dunno japanese so I can't say what the feelings should be like according to the lyrics, I'm just thinking by feel.
I guess I could be happy, I just wanted a more upbeat, cheerful songs like several of their last b-sides. from what I see, I think it's gradually climbing from the emo well, just not out yet. COME ON, TSUNKU-SAN!
I still like it nonetheless, so definitely buying and support Morning Musume!

The cover is sort of meh, not too appealing to the eye. The preview though I still cannot be on high expectations. The PV will probably end up the same way. It doesn't look too good but somehow as long as no one major is releasing a single at that date, it should be fine

The sort of annoying part is the high pitch voices and I have feeling that the live version might have some potential IMO. The dance and the music don't match.

I can't say I'm a fan of the chipmunk voices, but once I heard the whole song as a total package I learned to accept it, especially since the voices normalize and become much more ear-pleasing as they transition into the chorus (that "ii ja nai" by Takahashi is the icing on this cheesecake). I'm loving the beat too, especially when the guitar kicks in...though apparently I'm yet another person who is reminded of "Koi no Dance Site", as I keep picturing the arm-swinging dance of that song whenever this song pops into my head. :lol:
The video...well, it works. They're in a palace fit for a princess, the dancing goes well with the lyrics. :P I forget where, but I recall someone in either a forum or blog pointing out the cheesy fire effects being an appropriate send-off for Koharu since her first MM video featured the same thing.
I don't know how much this song's gonna sell, but I think it's a winner.

But I can see why they made Sexy Ass Princess the a-side. It does have a more unique style, what with the pitch-shifting, exotic arrangement, and weird lyrics. XD The b-side is all kinds of awesome, but it is unfortunately more generic like Naichau Kamo.
They could have made it more memorable with a kick-ass dance, but....I've been spending too much time with K-pop. :lol: I forget that girl groups in J-pop aren't meant to be chock full of performance talent. For pete's sake, I've seen rave reviews over how revolutionary RIVER's dance is, and it's like, "...it's good choreography, but the execution is ridiculously messy. WTF do you mean revolutionary!?"

Is the version C still available anywhere? I check YesAsia and CDjapan and it seem to be sold out. Would it restock it later, I hope? I don't mind buying a couple days or even weeks later...

Hm, well, can't say I'm too shocked by the first day sales in comparison to Nanchatte Renai or Shouganai. Kimagure Princess, as a song, fails spectacularly beside those two. It has the type of PV a wota would appreciate, and the general public might not be as...hmm, appreciative?
Hopefully they will break 50k sales for the first week though, if nothing else. I shall remain cautiously optimistic.

Not too surprised about the sales.
I think the song is just too odd, even for Morning Musume.
The parts of this single just don't fit together. (crazy Russian sound, chipmunk voices, cowboy hats, badly photoshopped covers where Eri is missing an arm, etc...)
I ordered my Limited Edition C copy, but it isn't like Nanchatte where I bought all 4 versions. To me, this is kind of a throwaway single like Chokkan 2. I can only imagine how that would've gone if they had kept Koi wa Hassou Do the Hustle! as the A-side. At least that time they chose the less odd-sounding song as the A-side.

I got past caring about Momusu sales figures a long time ago as I'd probably be very upset by now if I hadn't. In all honesty I thought there last few singles were awful so personally I was glad to see them doing something a bit different, I quite like the song so I'm much happier with it than I have been with the last few releases.

I figured this song would either do really well or really bad. Weird songs like this tend to be hit or miss. I really thought it would do better, since it has that balalaika vibe and it's kinda fun.

But honestly I didn't like this single and with their 'promotion' coupled with this I really didn't expect it to sell well...that said I'm glad they went for something different to the forumla they've used for the past few singles in a row.
Hopefully next single will be better and these sales will be a kick in the butt to UF* to actually invest a bit more cuz I'm sure it will be pay off if they do.
