Title: Game sequels you'd like to see
Post by: Tuffty on September 14, 2009, 12:35:08 AM
We all know there's enough sequels/remakes/rereleases out there that it just makes you . But sometimes there's some games that warrant a sequel for the HD generation. Those with a cult following or were critically acclaimed but for one reason or another failed to continue. So feel free to list any you would like to see. For me I have:

Shenmue: This is and shall always be my most highly demanded game until I die. It's never gonna happen but I just want to see how the story ends. Obviously a game would be ideal, but even a novel would do fine, you can't just leave the series hanging on the ending of Shenmue II! Not when it was just getting interesting!

SSX: Considering this is an EA franchise, it's a big surprise there isn't one already. Loved SSX3, the feeling of jumping off a ramp with the ingame radio fading away and watching the red/orange, sunset kissed sky and the view of the mountains in the distance. Just thinking about the whole experience in HD is an opportunity to good to miss.

Panzer Dragoon: It would be old fashioned on rail shooting, but Orta looked so good on the first Xbox I'd love to see how the same development team could handle the current consoles.

Jet Set Radio: If there was going to be one, I'd want new locations rather than Jet Set Radio Future which used the same locations/story from the DC version. And you can guarantee the soundtrack would be funky.

P.N. 03 - I heard a lot of people didn't like it, but I had a lot of fun playing it. It was pretty bland looking though.

Beyond Good and Evil - I actully got an itch to play this game the other day. I gotta hook my GC back up finish some work first though. I remember liking everything about this game. The characters were cool, I liked the story, and it was a blast to play. Traveling around the world was great. I think I read that there was a sequel in the works.

I gotta put a second vote for JSR.

Vigilante 8 - I love me some car combat, and the first Vigilante 8 was super awesome. Haven't played the XBLA arcade remake. I'd prefer a proper full on sequel either way.

Intelligent Cube - Fuck yes you are awesome.

Parappa the Rapper - Parappa + controllers from GH/RB = ???

Onimusha - I enjoyed all the Onimusha games but the best was Dawn of Dreams. The game's multiplayer and easy excecutable Critical Attack (Issen) made me play this game until this day with my friends.

Dino Crisis - Dino Crisis 1 was good. Dino Crisis 2 was awesome. Dino Crisis 3 sucked big time due to the game mechanics and the story. I hope Capcom will consider making a true sequel directly after Dino Crisis 2 as there are many untold stories.

Oh shoot! Your from the cult of Shenmue too Tuffy? (http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/1568/foodsmiley004.gif) (http://img30.imageshack.us/i/foodsmiley004.gif/)

Yes, Shenmue is my favorite game of all time and I will always hold out hope for the last chapter. Beyond Oasis I would like to see a next gen adaptation. Freedom Fighters is another great game that I think was was supposed to have successors but never really happened. I would also love proper Daytona USA, Conker and Perfect Dark sequels. :yep:

One that I never played but I hear people call for all the time is Vagrant Story.

Vigilante 8

There already is a sequel, right? But yeah, a modern version would (could?) be great!

I really want Okami 2 on Playstation!

And I want a proper 2D Kirby platform game.

Totally agreed  :twothumbs. As for now, I still waiting for Capcom to release Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for the PSN. Can't wait to play it again as it brings back the good old times during the PS1 era.  XD

Awesome, another fan! :w00t: I so want to just play over as Ryo and stop him being such an airhead towards Nozomi!

Dead Space deserves a sequel!  The end was definitely a surprise

Someone in EA has been listening (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/dead-space-2-almost-in-production)

Great game too. End boss was epic!

I'd like to see a sequel to Portal 2 sometime soon. Hopefully after L4D2 is out, then Valve can start working on it. Though I imagine more people want HL2:Episode 3 more than that.

Fear Effect 3/Inferno

It was in the making but got cancelled, bleh.
I'd sell my soul to see this game on a next gen console.

I definitely agree with some of the choices here.

Shenmue should definitely get finished off. Even though I never got into the series myself, I can definitely sympathize with those who want closure.

I keep looking at trailers of Bayonetta thinking that a PN03 sequel should be something like that.

I remember seeing a article about a Squarenix executive complaining that they won't make another Chrono series sequel because Chrono Trigger DS sales were terrible. No offense but what do expect from a game you have already ported once before and have failed to add anything new. Make a good sequel and sales will go up.

Skies of Arcadia
. I'm not sure how Sega can make this work but I would certainly like to see another game using similar themes and story elements.

Mechwarrior, mech commander. Fell in love with the battletech universe after reading one book.
Also need more Crimson Skies: I can't fly the races for shit, but loved the dogfights and the Altverse that the game resides in.

I forgot about one! I'd love to see a sequel to Dark Chronicle (otherwise known as Dark Cloud 2). It's a comparison I don't like to make, but you could say it was the Playstation 2's version of Zelda. It was charming, played unlike any RPG, rewarding and had some of the best graphics and soundtrack. I sunk as many hours into it as I did with the Final Fantasies and Persona's of this world.

Bully - I would love LOVE to see one, but there was an analyst who said not to expect one :(

Parappa the Rapper - Yes!  I would love to see a third game. The music in that game is so catchy, I even download the songs to my ipod.

Dead or Alive - Well, the creator left Tecmo, and said the production of the series would end.  But then Tecmo said the series would be underway. I'm afraid that they won't follow up on their plans. I haven't heard any news. :(

Godfather - Well, after the 2nd one sucked ass, I didn't even care about a 3rd one. However, I really loved the first one and am now hoping for a similarity with the 3rd game... I wasn't a a big fan of the 3rd movie either, so I don't know how this will play out for me.

Technically speaking, there's SSX Blur on the Wii (but I know when you said this gen you meant to say PS3 or 360). I'm with you, SSX3 was one of my most beloved games on the ps2, I'd buy a real sequel for it on day one!

Shin Megami Tensei series: Why is Atlus taking so long ? I know Megaten games are considered more a niche but they should harry it up before this gen starts storming with RPGs and Megaten games get overshadowed again.

I think that if Atlus asked for help from a company to develop at least one game in these series, they could make those kick ass graphics which I personally need to play their games but certainly would help to boost sales. and let's be honest, I don't expect FFXIII graphics but something like Tales of Vesperia or Valkyria Chronicles would surely help them, but of course making the games still with the megaten particular Noir art style.

Saw a Sonic kart game trailer that is featuring Ryu from Shenmue as a character. That might be a good sign that Sega is considering Shenmue 3. If that's not the case, then Sega is being rather sadistic  :(

As much as I enjoyed Bioshock (and I do love it), I would die if there was another true sequel in the System Shock series. System Shock 2 is on my short list of the greatest games ever; however, with the guys who made SS2 working under the 2K Boston banner, and EA owning the rights to the System Shock name, my wish is unlikely to ever be fulfilled.

I would also love proper Daytona USA, Conker and Perfect Dark sequels. :yep:

A full Daytona arcade remake is on the cards called Sega Racing Classic, it should be out in 2010!

I second that wish and notion. SS2 is amazing. Might as well stick with the greatest games ever-theme: some kind of successor to Planescape: Torment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planescape:_Torment) please.

Would you be willing to risk/accept it, if it became like Fallout 3 to the old Fallout games?

I wouldn't mind a new Star Trek game or two, preferrably in the Academy or Command series.
