Title: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: SomethingWild on October 05, 2009, 07:40:37 PM
Got a question related to AKB48? Ask away and someone will come along with the answer (hopefully haha).

Anything goes; where to buy their stuff, how to get tickets to the theater, member identification, etc, etc.

This should be a pretty swell thread, so let me start it off.

I'm always looking for AKB 'history' videos and was wondering if there were any audition/selection footages especially of teams K and B? I just need to know if they exist, then the hunt can begin.

Excellent question. I gotta admit I don't really know  :nervous  The only audition footage I ever saw was for Team S.

There are some clips out there with the history of AKB48, but I'm not sure if they include any audition footage.

Maybe someone else can pitch in? I'll try to do some research.

There really isn't much...
The DVD that came with the limited edition of Aitakatta had a short "history" segement, though...

Well waddaya know... this video came out maybe a few hours before my first post!

[noembed]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI8J74Wca7U[/noembed]

While it is generally about the nature of the whole AKB setup, a little bit of the team K audition was shown! Sayaka looks so restrained even when she is obviously so happy while Yuko has not changed at all!

I do remember watching the "History of AKB48" video some time ago and it was great. Watching it brought back memories of Momusu's selling 50,000 singles challenge. Because of that whenever someone badmouths team A, I know that they truly deserve all the things that are going for them.

WHat's the deal with Suzuki Shihori? She's listed as promoted Kenkyuusei for the new Team B, but some sites say she's graduated? The official site doesn't mention her at all...

^ This:

Shihori Suzuki quits AKB48

Mon, August 31, 2009 (2:07am EDT)

15-year-old idol Shihori Suzuki, currently belonging to AKB48's "kenkyuusei" team, unexpectedly announced on Saturday that she is leaving the group. The news came just a week after Suzuki was promoted to become a regular member of Team B.

Earlier in August, when AKB48 surprised fans with major roster changes, Suzuki was one of twelve kenkyuusei members who were chosen to join the main AKB48 unit this coming October. But according to her blog post, she said that when her promotion was announced, she realized her own "half-heartedness" and felt that she could not continue with her "naive way of thinking," while her peers were desperately trying to achieve their dreams. Instead of worrying and being unable to move forward as part of AKB48, she hopes to figure out her own dream by herself and work directly towards it.

Suzuki officially leaves AKB48 at the end of August, but she will still participate in a handshake event on September 20 as planned. Her last stage performance with the group was on August 29, when she announced her resignation.

Wow, that's quite a huge revelation to have at 15..

Can someone explain to me the 'Stage' concept? I'm really quite confused. I know a Stage album is basically a setlist of what the team performed on stage (is that right?), but are the songs re-recorded by the Team's lineup? And are the Stage songs written specifically for them?

Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: Datalanche on November 08, 2009, 06:05:06 AM
The "stages" are the collection of songs a team performs at the theater for a certain amount of time. They are about a full album's worth and they usually rotate the stages every 6-9 months or so. Most stages are original, but the new Teams when they are formed usually perform an old stage or two before getting their own. And yes, each team records their own stage album, even if it's just a recycled stage.
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: Blu-Cherri on November 08, 2009, 06:12:43 AM
Yeah that's a pretty good explanation.
You can see which songs are which using this lyrics website
http://stage48.net/studio48/ (http://stage48.net/studio48/)
Click on the 'stages' button, pick a team and then you can see each stage they've done and what songs are in that stage.
If you have access to the media section Team B's 1st stage is up for download as an iso
http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=21562.0 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=21562.0)
(Team B's 1st stage is the same as Team K's 2nd stage...but obviously with different people)

Another point is akb48 only have 1 album, 'setlist'.  The rest are known as stage recordings.(I suppose you could akin them to soundtracks from theater performances as it were)
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: maliciel on November 08, 2009, 06:52:00 AM
Ah, that clears it up a little bit.

So does Ax, Kx, Bx refer to the stages, rather than a 'generation' of girls? Or do they mean the same thing  :?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: Datalanche on November 08, 2009, 07:35:05 AM
They refer to the stages. Like when Team B began, they did the "Seishun Girls" set of songs, so that was B1. Then, they did the "Aitakatta" set of songs, which is B2.

AKB n00b here.

So... what exactly is a LOD?  What does that stand for?

Also, what's this senbatsu/kenkyuusei business?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: jafeijai on November 30, 2009, 04:40:19 AM
^ Coming from another noob, this might not be too helpful, but I'll try. :) The experts can fill in the holes that I'm sure will appear.

Senbatsu - For every single, AkimotoP chooses the members who he believes will fit the image/vocals/whatever other criteria he judges on for the song(s). Those members are the 'senbatsu' members of the single. The only exception to this was Iiwake Maybe, where it was the fans who chose the members rather than AkimotoP.

Kenkyuusei - Literally 'research students', they're basically the H!P Eggs of AKB; not part of the main 'teams', but still fully eligible to be chosen as a senbatsu member (I think).

..I have no idea what LOD means/stands for though. :sweatdrop:

LoD(Live on Demand) is a term that's used to refer to the on demand shows that DMM puts up on their site. Basically they film all the evening shows(I think) and put them online for subscribers to view. It costs 4,980 yen per month and is only available to Japanese residents. Legally, that is.  :nervous

Awesome!  Thank you jafeijai and Datalanche!

OK, another question... I remember reading about Oshima Yuko(?) having throat surgery.  Anyone know why?  I read that her voice changed after the procedure and I was wondering if there were any before and after examples I could listen to.

Post by: ichijoujirena on November 30, 2009, 07:08:41 AM
^ Yuko had Vocal Nodules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_fold_nodule) and the surgery was to remove them. Her voice is less raspy/hoarse now.

Here's a good before video for reference: AKB48 Oshima Yuko Private Vidéo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyBDtgOAuSA#normal)

The only good after I can find is this: AKB48 『RIVER』PR 20091113 あげテンッ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD_mWxvBHb8#normal)

Hello, sry for bad english. I have some questions about akb48/ske48.

1) Are W Matsui sisters? :3
2) Where can read about girls biography? (very interesting Matsui Rena)
3) Is it true that many girls in akb48/ske48 are daughters rich people of Japan?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: SomethingWild on June 13, 2010, 02:13:33 PM
^Welcome!

1. Rena Matsui and Jurina Matsui are NOT sisters
2. I don't think biographies exist. You can read their profiles on the official site:
http://www.ske48.co.jp/memberinfo/ (http://www.ske48.co.jp/memberinfo/)
http://www.akb48.co.jp/members/ (http://www.akb48.co.jp/members/)

and we try to translate that information and put in in the opening post of each girl's thread: http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=20265.0 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=20265.0)

3. I'm not sure what you mean?

Ah, I understand. Well, there are rumors that Jurina Matsui father is rich. Apparently he is involved with the Sunshine building that hosts the SKE48 theater.
Other than that I don't know anything about the girl's parents. Anyone can audition for AKB so I guess most of the girls come from average families?

Oh, thanks :3

I do not hurt if rich talented girl join in group. Just interesting how Mr. Akimoto can realize so difficult project without any help. And if he got it, why not take 1-2 girls from sponsor families.

Why Jurina appeared in new single akb48. She is from ske48. I dont see her profile on akb48 site. She works in two groups? :3

I am glad that Matsui Rena enter in top12 girls. But what mean "media girl"?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: SomethingWild on June 13, 2010, 04:32:58 PM
Jurina sometimes participates in AKB48 singles to promote SKE48. She was a frontgirl in Oogoe Diamond to make people more aware of SKE48. Jurina is officially just an SKE48 member.

"Media Girl" means these girls will be appearing on various television shows to promote the 17th single. The top 12 of the election will be the media girls.

I didn't think this warranted a new topic be made although it is not a direct question about any of the girls. My question is:

Was there and will there ever be an AKB48 RPG thread? I'm an avid role player and if there are any other writers out there that have the same enthusiasms as me, well, all the better. I'd love to meet ya. I notice that there is a classic RPG forum and there used to be an IRC channel open, but it seems there are no active ones open, any reason?

Our H!P RPG was quite popular in the beginning but eventually it died down. I suppose people simply lost interest in the game.

Not sure about the details... looks like they're giving away some presents to 1000 people.

----------------------

Question for the pic collectors: do you think the Gacha pictures are worth more or less now than when they were still given out? Is it like "old/out of print = rare and wanted" or old/out of print = who cares, we have weekly theater pics that took their place" ? I guess it all depends on the particular girl and pic...

It doesn't matter at all, but I was thinking about it last night lol.

^ Auction-wise old pics = cheap for pretty much anyone. Granted that the definition of cheap depends on the popularity of the member, but from all I've seen older is better for those on a bargain hunt. I'm sure to those who the pics are of value, they aren't selling them in the first place. However, I base this off my pic collecting experience which was before AKB's popularity boom, so it might be different now. I mostly retired from pic collecting, at least in the auction realm. It's all too rich for my blood.

Well, I'm generally a SCANDAL fan. But then, I kept hearing my sis play some AKB48 songs and it got stocked in my head... "I want you... I need you..." ^^a

By the way, aside from Team A, K, B, S, K2 and E, there are Research Students.
What do they usually do?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: SomethingWild on July 03, 2011, 03:33:17 PM
A research student (or kenkyuusei) is training to become a full member of AKB48. They will substitute in for the current members in AKB48 that are absent during the day of a her Team's performance. The RS also have their own performances at the theater.

When a girl auditions these days she will not get into AKB48 immediately, but she'll have to train and prove her skills as a research student. It's sort of a buffer so that only the best (in theory) girls make it into a real team.

What is the Relationship between AKB48 and SKE48? Are they a few versions of a song, cause I have seen three different ones listed as "River".? Is there any age limit to join? Or age where they have to graduate by?

What is the Relationship between AKB48 and SKE48? Are they a few versions of a song, cause I have seen three different ones listed as "River".? Is there any age limit to join? Or age where they have to graduate by?

AKB48 = Akihabara/Tokyo based
SKE48 = Sakae/Nagoya based
NMB48 = Namba
SDN48 = Saturday night = 20+ members

They are the 'sister group' of AKB48 and consists of different girls. They have their own singles and stages. Sometimes, they do concerts with both AKB and SKE.
In addition, sometimes SKE48 members are a part of AKB48's singles as well (for promotion or due to election events).

SKE48 sometimes performs AKB48 singles during their stages or concerts.

The age limit to join depends on the particular auditions. I think the youngest ones are around 11 years old.

Graduations are a completely different story. A girl can graduate for a wide variety of reasons and doesn't necessarily have to age related.

^ 48 members was Aki-p's planned 'ideal number' for the rotations in theater shows when AKB48 started.
Each team consisting of 16 members. The three A, K, and B teams totaling up the 48 members.

Nowadays it's more a trademark of the group than anything. But they still keep the groups at 16 main members.

I couldn't find a more generic question and answers thread regarding JPop or idols as a whole so I guess this is the next best spot to ask it. It is related to AKB48 though.

I obviously know that Aki-P writes all the lyrics to the songs for AKB48, but how is it for other groups based around idols. Do the members write songs or do they just perform them? I have been really curious about this lately since I recently discovered that most Japanese idols are really there only to look good.

Do other musical artists that are not considered to be idols in JPop write their own songs? I don't mean groups like the B'z, since they are more rock oriented. I was thinking more of the solo JPop artists like Hamasaki Ayumi. I know she writes her own songs, but what about others that fit into her same musical genre as her? Is she just one of the rare performers in JPop that writes and performs or is it a common thing like in the United States?

Also, how do former idols that stay in the music industry fit into all of this? Do they end up writing their own songs or do they still only perform them?

One last question that is a little more specific. Itano Tomomi is in a unique position in that she is a solo artist as well as a member of AKB48. Dos she write her own songs for her solo album/s or just perform them?

Sorry if there is a lot here, but I figured multiple posts would be considered spam and thanks in advance for the answers.

Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: jafeijai on October 13, 2011, 05:02:57 AM
^ A search of the Android market (https://market.android.com/search?q=akb48&so=1&c=apps) turns up quite a number; whether or not they're official is up to you to decide. The ones from CYBIRD are definitely real though.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm gonna try and answer these one-by-one as best as I can; others please correct any wrong statements.

I obviously know that Aki-P writes all the lyrics to the songs for AKB48, but how is it for other groups based around idols. Do the members write songs or do they just perform them?
I'm not sure about the more underground idols, but in general, mainstream female idols don't write their own songs/lyrics. Taking the 'big names' (AKB, Morning Musume, etc.) as an example, they're usually taken under the wing of a producer and given songs to perform. Now, there are cases where a member within the group may decide to write his/her own songs (ex-AKB member Hoshino Michiru (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=23150.0), for example), but for the most part, it's written by someone else.

This is a lot harder to say definitely, since nowadays there are more and more artists in the Japanese musical world today that write their own material (Kobukuro, Ayaka, Otsuka Ai, etc.). I think it's become more of a global trend that artists that write their own material tend to be valued more highly, so it's not necessarily just the US where this is more common.

Also, how do former idols that stay in the music industry fit into all of this? Do they end up writing their own songs or do they still only perform them?
I'm going to bring up Hoshino Michiru again for this, but she's still in the industry writing her own music. On the flip side, another ex-AKB member Oshima Mai (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=18445.0) is currently signed under Avex and has 3 solo singles since leaving AKB; but none of those songs were written by her. I guess it just depends on whether that former idol has shown that potential of composing/writing his/her own songs.

One last question that is a little more specific. Itano Tomomi is in a unique position in that she is a solo artist as well as a member of AKB48. Dos she write her own songs for her solo album/s or just perform them?
She does not. All of her solo lyrics (as well as Maeda Atsuko (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=13794.0), who is also in the same position) is also written by Akimoto Yasushi.

Just wanted to add on the subject of non-idols in JPop
Do other musical artists that are not considered to be idols in JPop write their own songs?
Perfume, for example, doesn't write their own music, but I read a translated bit where Perfume's A~Chan asked their producer if they could finally write their own piece.

As in "Are you really a fan of AKB48, or only the oshimen?" and "If your oshimen graduates, will you cease being a fan of AKB48 altogether?"

Asking only because in H!P's world, being a fan of only 1-3 group members instead of the whole unit collectively is greatly frowned upon

Is there any sort of resource that explains where the various AKB/SKE girls nicknames came from?  Some are easy to figure out but some not so much and most bio's don't really explain the girls nicknames (and some don't even list them at all).

In particular I want to find out where Yuko got the nickname Korisu, Aika got the nickname Rabutan, Akane got the nickname Churi and Miori got the nickname Fresh Lemon.
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: winner on November 07, 2011, 04:08:27 AM
^Don't know of any one spot, probably need to search the nets.

For Yuko. The net says her early Yukorin/Ko-rin nickname was because her and Ogura Yuko's name and look were similar.
It then evolved to Korisu from her squirrel impersonation.

Lovetan is probably from the "Ai" in "Aika" switched to "Love". Rabutan is the engrish version.

Churi should be from Akane's bird-loving, and going all "churi churi" in her bird-impersonations. :)

Miori's "Fresh Lemon"nickname comes from her lemon collecting.
The nickname got popular later when she kept saying the "I want to become a fresh lemon" line in the 101111 episode of Ariyoshi AKB Kyowakoku.
I originally thought it was just from the script of that ep, but it was already used before that (http://ameblo.jp/akimoto100323/entry-10694551176.html). Which I find scary because she might really want to be a lemon....

And then there's SKE & NMB doing AKB songs. Yeah I know, they're not sub-units =\

For example:

SKE48 言い訳Maybe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG4Z0KLGjIw#ws)

NMB48 桜の木になろう (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryG_5C5H7ZE#ws)

NMB48 山本彩ver. Bird 反転 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I0oGzxk8is#ws)

DiVA has done Blue rose and MARIA.
Watarirouka has done Pajama Drive and Hatsukoi yo, Konnichiwa.
Not yet has done Nakinagara Hohoende.
French Kiss has done Kuchi Utsushi no Chocolate and Temo Demo no Namida.
And No Sleeves also did Bye Bye Bye and Junai no Crescendo on their album but that probably doesn't count since Miichan, Harunyan and Takamina sung the original version too. :P Quickly checking generasia it also looks like No Sleeves did Gyakuten Oujisama and Hoshi no Mukougawa.

Might have missed something since I'm not that familiar with the older single B-sides of the sub groups. :nervous

If you want DLs: http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?board=116.0 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?board=116.0) - Mostly complete - all singles/albums, many PVs (especially for the last 2 years or so).

Wikipedia (JP mainly) maintains a pretty complete listing of everything they've done, otherwise.

I hope this is OK.  I know this is titled as AKB questions but I have an SKE question and there isn't a specific thread for that.

I'm hoping for help identifying some SKE girls from the Oki Doki PV.  If anyone could please tell me who these girls are:

In this next picture, just the girl on the left.  I think it's Hiramatsu Kanako but I'm not sure.
In this next picture, the girl on the right.  Embarrasingly, I think she's possibly in one of the screencaps above too, but I'm still not that great at telling who is who in SKE :nervous

Anyone has any idea on average how much of their concerts & theater stages is MC segments? 'cause on the h!P side its one-third of a concert is MCs & it can go up to more than 50% for a h!p event

I has another question, albeit technically not a AKB one

Why did Mr Yasushi end his successful Onyanko Club? Did it start from the infamous smoking scandal?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: Amplifier on December 29, 2011, 02:09:44 PM
^For Onyanko Club, according to Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onyanko_Club#Sh.C5.ABkan_Bunshun_Smoking_Scandal), the scandal happened before their first single released, and they went on to release a bunch of stuff thereafter. Haven't read anything about why they broke up, though.

^^MC segments seem to vary from one concert/stage to the next. They have to do some, to let girls change their costumes / take a breather. The larger concerts seem to have fewer breaks, at least in my own experience.

I'm back again needing more help identifying a girl.  This time it's an NMB girl:

This is the best screencap I can get at the moment since it's an energetic performance and she seems like a very energetic girl.  Hopefully someone can tell me who it is from this, if not I'll try and get another screencap.  She kinda blew me away in the performance and now I have to know who she is.

I'm after help, advice or hints please.

I really, really want to get to see one of the 48 groups live.  Preferably AKB48 or SKE48 since they are my favourites.  I'm going to Japan in 2 months time (end of April) for 3 weeks and I'm wondering what my chances are.  My dream would be some sort of handshake event where I get to see the girls up close.  But honestly I'll mostly settle for anything where I can get to see them, even if from a distance away.  But it seems that mostly their live performances are really difficult for foreigners to attend due to the whole lottery system.

So my questions are.  How do people get to attend the handshake events?  I know they have these since I hear about them from time to time but I've never understood how people get to them.  Is this something a foreigner can do?  And are they likely to have a nationwide concert with tickets that can just be brought rather than having to rely on the lottery system.  And finally, are there any other events that I'm missing?

If anyone could help I'd be eternally grateful as it's my dream to at least get to see some of the girls once in my life.  Oh, and if it makes a difference I can read/speak a very small amount of Japanese but I can't really speak to anyone in any detail as I don't know many words or how to structure sentences.  So I don't know if that would limit me much.

Not experienced in events in Japan myself.

But there are two different types of handshakes. One are the theater handshakes, this you get tickets for by buying the theater edition of a single, and each single gives you 1 handshake ticket. This one is done before a single releases and involves using a Japanese address (and card, probably) to put in your picks for your handshake. It's kinda complicated, and I'm not sure how you do it. Another type of handshake is the nationwide handshake event, where you get tickets from buying the Ltd. version of a single that comes with the handshake tickets. Then you just go to the venue when your girl is slated to have a slot, and queue. They have concerts from time-to-time, but I have no idea about the timings for those. But April is usually concert season, so you might catch one.

For now though, I recommend you apply for super enpou for all the shows happening during that time period, as well as apply for enpou when the date is closer. 3 weeks is a decently long time, so you might win a show. If you have a railpass for the duration, then you can register for NMB too.

check out AKB's english page too:
http://www.akb48.co.jp/english/overseas/index.html (http://www.akb48.co.jp/english/overseas/index.html)

and ticket resellers helped alot on my trip years ago:
http://www.yokohamaticket.co.jp/index.htm (http://www.yokohamaticket.co.jp/index.htm)

Don't see any akb tickets listed in the music section there right now.
But there's some AKB, NMB and Rena (probably for her PB) handshake tickets listed in the event section.
See how good your luck is in april. :) You'll probably see something else you might want to check out too.

Wow, thats pretty awesome.  I'm kinda feeling a little more hopeful about this now.  I thought it was probably a long shot but I figured I'd ask anyway.  I had no idea that handshake event tickets got sold on resellers.  I'm definitely gonna try for those.  I think I'm also gonna try and apply for the long distance theatre tickets and try my luck too.  Thank you both of you very, very much for this advice!! :D

With the handshake event tickets, as long as I can figure out where I'm going, I take it the staff wont mind that I don't speak Japanese?  Like, I don't have to answer any questions or do anything specific to get in?

Edit:  Another question please (sorry guys :nervous).  I was looking at the handshake event tickets and the translation says that they are 'participation tickets'.  That does actually mean that it's a ticket for a handshake, right?  Also, can I get greedy and buy more than one ticket for the same event?  Also, aren't tickets usually just for one girl only?  Is there a way to tell which girl it's for?  Is that something that they show in the actual stores?

If they are the tickets you get from limited edition singles and the like, yeah. Basically you can buy as many as you can afford, and just go to the event. There'll be timeslots for all the girls (or groups of girls, depending), so just come (and be prepared to queue if she's popular) at the allotted time.

So after the series of shocking events we've been witnessing in AKB48, everyone has their viewpoints and reactions, but there's a little thought that passed by my mind today.

Acchan only talked to Aki-P and Takamina about her graduation before it was announced in SSA right? But wasn't the Manatsu no Sounds Good PV filmed before the announcement? From the PV previews and insights and interpretations we're making, does that mean that the management also knew about Acchan's contemplation about her graduation?

Kinda being conspiracious here  :nervous
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: Kid_Alpha on April 21, 2012, 06:40:05 PM
I think the Manatsu PV shows more of the older generation needing the younger generation and since the senbatsu has such a huge line-up, it's more promoting the group as a whole, it's not really showing how Acchan's graduation was already predicted or whatever, well to me. Even if management knew about her plans to graduate, I doubt they would have predicted Manatsu would be the last single she would participate in since she announced she wouldn't be part of the election.

Who knows? /shrugs

Hey guys, I'm trying to remember what show this is. :?

Some things I remember:
SpeedWagon was the host. It was hidden-camera.

I remember Oshima, Kasai and two other members were in it as well.
4other "low level" comedians.
Takes place at a restuarant. Tatami mats.

I believe the plot was about [what not to do with guys]

Somewhere around 2010-ish, cuz I remember Kasai saying "I'm still 18~"

[I want to say it's either ShukanAKB or maybe AKB to xx]

Sorry about the half-a** descriptions. :nervous Much appriciated to the person that remembers.

Temo Demo no Namida is Team B 3rd stage unit song. The original performers are Kashiwagi Yuki and Saeki Mika (=graduated due to knee injury). An official studio recording of the original does not exist (yet) due to copyright issues.

The French Kiss version also exists, which is included in their debut single "Zutto Mae Kara."

Is the term "Kami 7" something that AKB48 introduced or is it just a common saying?
I ask because I noticed other idol groups using the term as well lately.

^You'd have to go straight back to Skirt Hirari (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skirt,_Hirari). :)
Where the 7 Team A members who got front position, solo lines and pictured in the front cover of the single got nicknamed "Skir-Hira 7".
Tomomi Itano, Haruna Kojima, Atsuko Maeda, Rina Nakanishi, Risa Narita, Mai Oshima, and Minami Takahashi.

It probably merged with "Kami-oshi" and settled into "Kami 7" afterwards.

Could somebody please help me reveal one of the lines in Everyday, Katyusha's lyrics? It's the one marked with question marks below.
I've searched the lyrics on the Internet but none of them shows a line that sounds the same as to the line sung in the song.
Most of them shows that it's the same "Every, every, everyday" line that's sung but, IMO, it obviously isn't that.
I ask because I often sing along especially during the part below and it certainly doesn't feel good when I'm trying to sing along yet I don't know the lyrics.

Five 13th gen kenkyuseis have been cut as a result of the performance selection review. I heard of these performance reviews before, but never learned too much about it. Can anyone here tell me more about the process? Is it based on popularity? My guess is it is a combination of a variety of factors, but my curiosity led me to do a tally of g+ to see roughly how much of a factor do popularity plays, & here is the result.

13th Gen Kenkeysei g+ Followings   as of August 5, 2012
Rank      NameFollowings
#1Mitsumune Koaru40,729
#2Oshima Ryoko21,573
#3Aigasa Moe      15,387
#4Iwatate Saho14,643
#5Mogi Shinobu14,573
#6Murayama Yuiri14,299
#7Takashima Yurina13,991
#8Umeda Ayano13,980
#9Shinozaki Ayana13,950
#10Hasegawa Haruna13,596
#11Okada Ayaka13,419
#12Kitazawa Saki13,398
#13Amemiya Maika13,273
#14Moriyama Sakura13,235
#15Watanabe Nene13,072
#16Kita Shiori12,996
*Bold indicate members that were cut.

Off topic, but I am surprised that their following are relatively similar with the exception of the top few...

It aligns surprisingly well with the exception of Haseharu! Not surprised by the top two followings (Ryoko give me Yuko vibes in some ways... & they share the same last name!) In addition to the above questions, can anyone also tell me possible reasons for Haseharu getting cut above Ayaka & Saki? Their followings does not have a significant difference but just wondering are there any possible explanations.

I always wanted to know this,
How much power does Aki-p have over the girls in comparison to their
agencies? So how specifically are their roles split up? Some clarity is helpful :)

Does other teams have songs like "Team B Oshi" where members introduces themselves?
I know Team K have but I don't know the title.

And another question, everytime I see Team K performs "Sasae", they cry at the middle of the song.
What's the story behind it?

I was going through my CD collection and found that I have some sealed copies of:
- SKE48 - Gomen ne Summer
- AKB48 - Everyday Kachuusha

I was wondering if there is any chance these CDs have a bonus pic in them? Did they do bonus pics at that time? Chances are slim for Gomen ne Summer, but I may get lucky with Kachuusha? It's the Regular Type A and Type B CD+DVD edition. It did include the store bonus photos, which are always outside the case.

So yeah, anybody remember if they had bonus photos inside the CD case for these singles?

I believe it wasn't until Flying Get was when they started on the "Normal" photos for the Regular Edition.
The other bonus photos were only from the Theatre Editions.

Hope that answered your question.

Okay, I have a few questions to ask. I just discovered that each person in a subgroup(or most of them) belong to the same agency (No3b and WH7 OgiPro, DiVA office48, not yet OhtaPro, French Kiss WatanabePro).

So who will decide which member will form a subgroup? Is it under AkiP power or the agency?  Must all of them come from the same agency? Before this, I am Johnnys fans. In Johnnys, all the power goes to Kitagawa Johnny. The boys only belong to Johnny's agency, so this 'agency thing' is pretty new for me since I just become AKB fans around 6 months ago.

I hope I will get an answer soon. Thank you!

^Check this for a complete list of which girl belongs to which agency: http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=23653.0 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=23653.0)

It's hard to say who decides what. It's pretty clear that the agencies do have a certain amount of power as well.

In some cases you see a girl joining a subgroup, and then later she joins that agency. For example, Yokoyama Yui had joined Not yet before she was part of Ohta Pro, but after several months she signed with them anyway.

I recently discover that graduated member Hirajima Natsumi is a first generation member. But why she seems so left out? All the first generation is popular and very close to each other but I can't see any signs of her being close to any first generation. Are they in bad terms or something?
Title: Re: The AKB48 Question Thread
Post by: SomethingWild on December 26, 2012, 01:27:15 PM
Hirajima Natsumi is one of the members who got transferred to Team B after the third audition had taken place. As a result, she is much closer with girls like Mayu, Harugon, Yonezawa, etc. She was friend with the rest of first gen as well. You can see in the making footage of the concerts and the shukan sportsfest (where there was a "Team A camera" and the 1st gen members would pull Nacchan in saying you were Team A too").

However, after her scandal happened a lot of ties were broken... I doubt even Mayu is still in contact much with her nowadays.

That price is high because it's a limited item, and a pretty old one at that. In other words, it's completely sold out everywhere. It retailed for 15,800 yen originally.

If you truly want it, your best bet is probably yahoo auctions. Prices range between 15.000 and 55.000 yen depending on version and condition. Please note that you'll need a deputy service which will increase the total price you have to pay significantly.

Actually, I think "nante tatte Idol" was performed by AKB48 before but a long time ago. I think that was during a TV show so it´s not on dvd and since a cover, it´s rare to be song on a concert. Probably same happened with "sailor fuku wo nugasanaide".

Which stage is this one? is it released on dvd? live GIVE ME FIVE - AKB48 120309 Stage Team B (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fuXZcN7L5o#ws)

^ No, it's not released on DVD.

As your post says, it's from the 120309 Team B performance...
They were doing "Theater no Megami" at the time, but Give Me Five is a bonus song after the standard stage songs. Around that time, all the AKB48 Teams were performing live versions of Give Me Five in the theatre, and they are well worth checking out.

I love the paintings of past election winners, even though look a bit weird

How do I know if I have the right tickets for the handshake events?  I've attended a couple and I keep ending up with the wrong ones.  I plan on going to the July 7th event in Makuhari Messe.

How do I know if I have the right tickets for the handshake events?  I've attended a couple and I keep ending up with the wrong ones.  I plan on going to the July 7th event in Makuhari Messe.

The July 7th event is an individual member/Theatre Edition handshake event:
http://www.kingrecords.co.jp/cs/t/t3659/ (http://www.kingrecords.co.jp/cs/t/t3659/)
http://ameblo.jp/akihabara48/entry-11566790965.html (http://ameblo.jp/akihabara48/entry-11566790965.html)

You buy tickets for these events at: http://akb48.chara-ani.com/ (http://akb48.chara-ani.com/)
You have to book a specific timeslot for a specific member. Each 10 second ticket costs 1,000 yen and comes with a Theatre Edition CD and a photo.
There are very strict timeframes on buying these tickets, and they are normally sold in many rounds.

The handshake ticket you have there in that picture is a ticket to the Sayonara Crawl national event/Limited Edition handshake events. They announce when these events are on the official blog. For example, here's an announcement for a Sayonara Crawl national event handshake they've already held in Osaka: http://ameblo.jp/akihabara48/entry-11559758885.html (http://ameblo.jp/akihabara48/entry-11559758885.html) . They might have held others already. They tend to post the member line-up for these handshake events quite close to the event on the official blog.

Hope that helped!

Thanks! You saved me a 1.5+ hour trip.  At least I know the process now so I won't make this same mistake again.  Guess I'll just have to make the next one.  Sucks I wanted to see Tomochin and Mariko sama before they graduated.

In NMB to Manabukun, the 2nd part normally has 3-4 members doing challenges (newest one has them mountain-walking).
What is the intro song for that corner called?

Update: Never mind, found it was Teppen Tottande! from their album.

Can anyone tell me why AKB48 did a massive video dump on youtube? What's up with all the 45 second MV previews, and why in the world are there so many of them all at once??
Not a complaint, but I'm so curious and I have no idea what's going on! Are they special sub-units or something??

Does anyone know what Kaga-ana means?
Is that something the girls do as an opening of a concert? :?

Tokyo Dome Day 3
24th August 2013

Kaga-ana: Oshima Yuko

M00. Overture
M01. Mokugekisha

.......
---

Oh, one more question, just curious, is this guy here Yuko's brother? Their faces look kinda similar.

Kage-ana = shadow announcer = the girl who does the intro talk for the concerts (off stage)

That guy is from comedy duo The Peace (think his name is Matayoshi), not Yuko's brother  XD

Extra info. Yuko and Peace are regulars on Hoko x Tate (http://www.fujitv.co.jp/hokotate/).
Peace also hosted NMB48's show Naniwa Nadeshiko (http://www.ntv.co.jp/naniwa/) in 2011.

Well, since anything goes...

I followed AKB (or more so SKE) for a while, but now I am more of a casual follower. I keep up with checking out new releases and MVs and big news, but I there is a lot I don't know. I am running an idol radio station (link in signature) where I play songs from all idol groups, and I feel for the 48's being so popular right now, I don't really have that many songs...

So, my question is, what are you favorite non-aside ***48 songs? List as many as you like, by AKB, SKE, NMB, or HKT. Looking for b-sides and Stage songs. Even tell me your favorite stage. Looking for stuff to check out and play.

^I think your best bet is to search the setlists for the Request Hour concerts.
They include the top 100 most popular songs, voted for by the fans.
A-sides are included, but you'll find a LOT of great coupling and stage songs.

There's one every year, but there's the most recent to get you started: http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=33659.msg1146510#msg1146510 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=33659.msg1146510#msg1146510)

Hey guys, I'm going to Japan pretty soon and I was wondering if you still need to go through a damn lottery to get tickets to the akb theater? Would be fun to see a show but I ain't exactly  going to go through hell for it. :)

Yup. There are some guides online, but I'm not even sure which ones are up to date anymore.

Good luck. I've never won any. Luckily other idol groups' events are a lot easier to get into!

Yup, still a lottery, you have to sign up to an account at http://ticket.akb48-group.com (http://ticket.akb48-group.com)
If you can read Japanese you can just sign up there, if not, I can PM you a link to an English guide which is almost not-out-of-date.
There are a couple differences in the timings and a couple hints to share, since technically non-Japanese residents aren't allowed an account. I can help with more info, do note you have to start applying on the 11th day before your trip, so get ready well before then...

Does anyone have a video of this they would be willing to share someplace?  I missed it at the time and now it doesn't seem to be up anywhere.

So it's my first time buying an akb48 single.
I bought Mae Shika Mukanee, and it had arrived this noon.
It's limited edition, but I remember the guy selling to me said that he couldn't get any bonus picture's.
I saw some vid's of unboxing at YouTube, and they got 2 photo's but I didn't get any...

And for the album 1830m.
Is there supposed to have an Acchan Poster?
Because my friend bought one for me but there wasn't any poster there...

I'm not sure about this particular single, but in the past it was like this:
- Limited edition comes with the store bonus photo (until they run out) and an event ticket or sorts
- Regular edition comes with the store bonus photo (until they run out) and a photo inside the CD case

the guy selling to me

You bought it used? In that case they probably kept the pic for themselves or sold it off earlier.
On eBay they tend to sell the singles and pictures separately because the picture is worth more than the actual cd in some cases.

The first press edition came with a poster iirc. It had Acchan on one side and one member at random on the other side.
Stores will have ran out of the posters well over a year ago, so yeah, if you buy it now there won't be a poster.

Really really cool!  Thanks a whole heap, winner.  I think this song is just something a bit special since it has that connection with Aki-P's place in the academic world.  Isn't it a bit amazing that a guy who promotes idols is also in a leading academic position.

Thanks again!  Also to Jul3 for moving my question to this thread which I did not know about  :P  So that it got answered!

Thanks alot, but I ended up skipping it since there was so much to see and I didn't know you had to apply 11 days in advance. Perhaps I'll check it next time. Is it easier getting tickets to SKE, HKT or like Nogizaka for instance?

Oh, enpou applications are 11 days in advance, but general application is 2 days in advance  XD

I've never tried SKE, but NMB seems just as hard as AKB to get tickets for. HKT seems easier. I think AKB you'll win about 1 show a month if you apply to everything twice. HKT is more like one a week. Nogizaka pretty much never perform anywhere so it would be really rare for there even to be a performance you could apply to see.

I've watched the videos, I've listened to the music, I watched all of AKB0048 and Next Generation, but I really want to know how to learn more about AKB48.
I've seen fans who know almost everything. Every specific girl of specific teams , and all sorts of things.
I really want to learn more.
Also, where does everyone get their news source from about (well everything, but mostly) who's graduating and who's entering the group and things like that.
Thank you to anyone who can give me a hand.

What's the best, most updated AKB news source?
Here's some suggestions.

Fastest is probably this site. But a lot of the posts are rumors/fanchat babbling and gravure pics, with actual news littered between it:
http://akb48sokuhou.doorblog.jp/ (http://akb48sokuhou.doorblog.jp/)

For official news. you're probably better off just doing a yahoo news search:

For main stuff. Check the AKB48 News & Releases section here at jphip:

Variety news sites

G'd day, I just wanted to know the name of this tune at 0:46?.. Sorry im not that knowledgeable with AKB48's tunes.
^It's not an AKB song.
Just a jingle for the show to cut to commercials.
