Update: The Kouhaku list posted by Oricon is unofficial, and is just their prediction. Also, the order is alphabetical. Thanks @tokyograph

You do know how Kouhaku works, don't you? The white team is comprised of all males singers and male-dominated groups, while the red team is all female singers and female-dominated groups. Kouhaku groups have always been arranged in this manner; the entire night is basically a big men versus women event.

Yes, they've been red team.It depends on the gender of singer. Male is white, Female is red. To me, it looks quite old fashion to devide people though.

Even though I've been expecting it for a while, the confirmation that Nana Mizuki is to be part of this year's Kouhaku is welcome news that rounds off a milestone year for her. She has finally achieved a degree of mainstream acceptance that has always eluded other anime artists. It sets a precedent.

Honestly, I'm not as surprised with Momusu not being on the list
(though I thought that them going to mainland America and having a pretty succesful time here would give them somethng of an edge.)
I'm more suprised with there being absolutely no other H!p groups on the list!

2009 Kohaku Uta Gassen lineup announced :w00t:
On Monday, NHK revealed the artist lineup for this year's Kohaku Uta Gassen. 50 acts will be performing this year, evenly split between the Red and White Teams. Eight of the artists are appearing on Kohaku for the first time, including Arashi, NYC boys, and Kaela Kimura.
Other notable artists include Masaharu Fukuyama, who previously appeared on Kohaku 16 years ago, and Ayaka, who will be performing on stage for the last time before she goes on hiatus.
Here's the lineup in Japanese alphabetical order. Performance order isn't known yet.
