Title: Your Favorite PODcasts
Post by: LaJon on October 25, 2009, 12:06:08 PM
Thought I'd make a PODcast thread for people to pimp the ones they listen to.

Here are the ones I keep up with.

Skeptic's Guide to the Universe (http://www.theskepticsguide.org/) (Skepticism/Science)
Dan Carlin - Common Sense (http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php/cs) (Political - Independent)
Dan Carlin - Hardcore History (http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php/hh) (History)
Arena Cast (http://www.arenacast.net/) (World of Warcraft - PvP)
Security Now (http://twit.tv/sn) (Computer Security)

Almost all my iPod material is podcast content these days:

On The DL (http://onthedlpodcast.com) -- Dan Levy.  Sports/media culture.
The 404 (http://the404.cnet.com/) -- CNET.  Tech/pop culture.
Pardon the Interruption (http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=2406595) -- Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, ESPN.  Sports reporting/analysis.
JoeSportsFan (http://joesportsfan.com/joesportsfanshow.php) -- Matt Sebek and Josh Bacott.  Goofball sports chatter and Q&A.
The B.S. Report (http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=2864045) -- Bill Simmons.  ESPN.com's golden boy.
Political Wrap (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/indepth_coverage/politics/political_wrap/index.html) -- Mark Shields and David Brooks, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.  Analysis of the week in politics by two experienced columnists, each with a left-right slant.

I hear that.  I work nights sitting at a computer the whole time with no customers to deal with or anything, so I've always got the mp3 player going.  Music is nice every once and a while, but PODcasts all the way for passing the time.  Keeps you engaged instead of hearing all the same music over and over again.

Hardcore History! Heck Yea! I've listened to every episode. :twothumbs

Haven't checked in months, I thought he might have stopped. Thanks for reminding me.

I also check out filmspotting (http://www.filmspotting.net/) and Giantbombcast (http://www.giantbomb.com/podcast/) from time to time.

Just listened to the first couple parts the other day. Really incredible stuff :O Even better that the Punic Wars episodes which I loved. He really puts you in the perspective of the time. I'm gonna have to check out Common Sense eventually too. :P

There was another great history podcast, wish I could remember. It was a guy and his wife. They would do just little 10 minute snippets of all kinds of stuff so it was great for short commutes.

I may have a new number-one podcast.  The one show I truly anticipate at the start of the week is Hollywood Babble-On (http://smodcast.com/babbleon/).  True laugh-out-loud material.
