It's time to look back on the musical scene of '09 and rank those babies you've had on repeat.  :cow: It's your list, so you make your own rankings and rules! If you for some reason have been under a rock this past year feel free to lurk and get enlightened by other people's lists, because that's how awesome they tend to be.

There's still approximately 2 weeks left before we head into the big '10, so if you're still insecure about your awesome list just secure a post for now. :thumbup

2.Kotringo - trick & tweet (avant-pop, jazz)
3.Mouse on the keys - an anxious object (post-jazz)
4.Clammbon - Re Clammbon 2 (post-rock, acoustic, pop)
5.Ametsub - The Nothings of The North (electronica, electronic)

This year, I still keep listening to Shugo Tokumaru's ''EXIT'', and Urichipangoon's ''GIANT CLUB'' again and again. Although I couldn't listen to ar's ''LOVE LU LE LO'', it would sounds good, I guess.
If I don't restrict the releases in Japan, The Best is Dirty Projectors' ''Bitte Orca''. Japanese can't make their music. I really loved post-rock in Chicago though, nowadays, experimental music in Brooklyn like Animal Collective, Gang Gang Dance, Akron/Family, etc, sounds cool.
Oricon chart doesn't help me to find any good music (as usual) On the other hand, JPHIP, especially ''The Obscure Band/Artist Thread'' always brings .me goodies. I really appreciate it.

To be honest, my expectations were way to high for the albums by my fav artists, so I ended up getting disappointed. Cases in point:

Aya Hirano - Speed Star:
It follows the same basic idea as her first album (which was GREAT), yet it lacks the memorable hooks! As a result, the album is completely uninteresting :( Only a couple of cool songs.

Scandal - BEST Scandal:
Too polished, not enough rock... not what I was hoping for.


That being said, there is one mini-album which truly is the surprise of the year and gets my vote for best album of 2009:

Love - Love.It  :bow:

Otsuka Ai's alter ego! You know it's gonna be interesting when Otsuka Ai goes experimental and digital. Surprise of the year, a very interesting album. In retrospect, I guess the song '360' on Love Letter could be seen as a little preview. it would have fitted right in with the rest of these songs.
