i'm at mixed emotions with this girl, i mean, i am happy for them, like extreamly,cus they've done what millions of girls want to do. but at the same time they're not that great. i mean of course i'm not expecting them to sing on key and have like a awesoem japanese accent and dance like ai-chan or something but c'mon. if anything they should've been practicing and such alot more before this.
there are other "crule angels" that could probably dance and sing better than them,(look at lunacherry for example. that girl ROCKS!)but we all cant get waht we want^^;
hopefuly noone thinks of this as ubber negative cus i'm still happy for them^^

Don't worry about being negative Kawaii Beam, most people are! Beckii apparently finds it all hilarious so it doesn't bother her, I'm told she's actually a really nice person.
It's funny you mention Lunacherry, she's also my friend and part of 'cruel girls' which is a larger group of youtube girls, even Laura Vanamo the Finnish Koharu girl is part of it!

It's not even my dream to be a Japanese idol, and yet I still don't like them. I can't wait until Beckii's 15mins of fame are over. "Top the charts" my ass. They barely just sold over 900 copies. XD

Beckii actually has such a cool attitude that she's won me over. XD Of course at first my reaction was the same as everyone else's, "DO NOT WANT"
Watched a bunch of videos that were linked at her twitter and she actually does seem cute and nice and down to earth, lol
So no hate from me :3
Also I'm extremely interested in whether her career will work out or not, and how things are gonna go from here - snowball bigger or result in fading to obscurity? IDK it's fascinating to see how far this can go.

Hate aside, I am also quite interested to see how her career will go. It's 50/50 definitely.
Some people are saying it'll just be a one-time thing and eventually people will get over her. OR the complete opposite, she'll surprise everyone by getting more and more popular and it'll go from there.

^ Yup absolutely, and the reason why I'm becoming more and more interested is because she has (as far as I know) already been featured much more in media than Magibon and that other girl (who was on Haromoni, the video section). I mean fuckin BEAT TAKESHI knows who she is and she got to meet Sayumi, who is her FAN? It really looks like she's on the verge of getting adopted into the J-idol world. I'm so curious to find out what happens next :lol:

Oh no, kawaii beam, I don't mean youtube friends, we've been good friends for more than a year, I met Sarah through Johanna since they're both good friends, then all this Cruel Angels stuff happened later on, I'm really happy for them :)
Well, I think one main problem about them selling so badly was little promotion, Beckii wasn't even in Japan to promote the single until 4 days after it came out, and that's where all these recent videos are coming from, meeting Sayumi, etc. The other reason may just be that it was too expensive since it was singleV only and not a single, haha. Maybe it will sell better this week.
I think the "they will top the charts" was just something the western media cooked up, because they were all saying it seems, I wonder who said that first, haha.

Even Finnish media was talking about Beckii like she's some sort of a super star already. I hate so-called journalism today, it's just fricking lies and exaggerations.
Beckii herself has never called herself any of those things, or said stuff like that, so it would be kinda silly to blame her for it.
i mean, it's cool that she actualy doesnt care what ppl think cus it's only their oppinion, maybe i'm just the poorman's ver of a jp fan(since there's no way i have as many clothes as she does XD) or i'm jealous or just happy for her,but i think i'm just kinda bitter,cus everyone alway's loves a skiny blonde white girl(and i'm black XDD)and yes i know not all of the cruel girls have blonde hair XD

It makes sense to me if you feel bitter about that. If you're black it's going to be many times more difficult (almost impossible probably) to get a chance at an idol career in Japan. There was that black guy who sings enka songs, but he has a gimmick... :/ I wonder if anyone's ever written about black people in Japanese popular culture (probably yes). The academic side of me thinks it would make an interesting research subject. lol
I realized yesterday that Beckii is 10 years younger than I am. :lol: I looked at 1995 and suddenly felt so old. Haha Somehow it doesn't feel that bad if they say 14-year-old. But when you see the birth year, you start thinking stuff like "I remember 1995!!!! I read gaming magazines and had an annoying teacher" etc.
Basically I'm using this thread to babble about all this off-topic stuff. Sorry :D

As someone who does H!P karaoke, I have to admit I'm jealous.
That is, until I make it into H!P, haha XD
However, she seems nice and down to Earth and I don't hate her for it unlike many other people I see. She seems cute and sweet.

Saw this featured in an entertainment magazine that came with the Sat newspaper this morning. There's a documentary about her rise to success in Japan being shown this week on BBC:

Manx teenager, Rebecca Flint is to appear in a BBC Three documentary which will be transmitted this week.
The programme tells the story of 14-year-old Rebecca from Ramsey, a seemingly ordinary schoolgirl.
Ordinary that is, except for the internet fame she has experienced in Japan where she transforms into Beckii Cruel, a teen icon.
The programme will be transmitted on Thursday 12 August 2010 as part of the Adult Season on BBC Three.
Beckii became famous in Japan after uploading films of herself dancing on You Tube.
She did this secretly, without telling her parents.
This intimate documentary has exclusive access to her as it explores the real world of Beckii and the other British teenage girls who hope to become famous in Japan.
Beckii's breakthrough posting attracted almost half a million hits and showed her miming an eccentric Japanese dance called danjo.
Beckii was then approached by a Japanese music manager who quickly helped her to take Japan by storm.
Since August 2009 she has recorded five singles, released her own DVD and appeared on Japan's biggest TV shows.
Now she wants success in the UK and there are a lot of businessmen ready to help her crack the teen market.
Despite getting the fame every girl is supposed to dream of, life is not easy for this 14-year-old.
Being a child doing a job in a very adult world isn't always fun and games.
Balancing two different lives on opposite sides of the world is tricky, and wrestling with the consequences of a mainly male Japanese fan base can be embarrassing, especially if you've never even had a boyfriend.
The film explores the fascinating world of Japanese anime and manga, crazes that grip millions in Japan and tens of thousands here, and shows that other girls see Beckii's success and decide they too might like to be big in Japan.
But although getting famous seems as simple as uploading a crazy dance, the implications of being famous at 14 are anything but straightforward.

I honestly would not be surprised if the documentary paid attention to the fact that she has a predominately male audience. In fact, I'd put everything in my account on it.

I watched the BBC documentary and I thought it was pretty good :3 They showed her at home, at school, followed her to Japan etc. I think they showed really well what Beckii's life is like. Btw I had no idea that she goes to ballet classes
Beckii actually seems to be the most levelheaded out of the family when it comes to this thing XD Her dad talking about the money and success side of things and mom talking about how this biggest Japanese fan of hers is a friend of the family... While Beckii talks about how important education is to her and how this biggest fan needs a 'reality check' and shouldn't spend so much money on her instead of himself :lol: (btw I hope that poor dude never gets to see this or his heart will break lol) After watching the documentary, even if her parents are very involved (go with her everywhere), it's Beckii that I put my faith on to look after herself :3 I think she "gets it" very well especially for a girl her age.
Kinda funny to see people wanting to profit from her so much lol but that's what business is. I was surprised to see these UK music people wanting to get a slice of her 'success' as well. I kinda wish she would stick to Japan though. UK can be very harsh..
Anyway DANG I'm jealous of this girl's HAIR D: Haha it always looks so nice and thick and shiny, even when it's a bit messy.
Also the Gemma girl's interviews were much more awkward than Beckii's, also Gemma admitted that Beckii was able to do everything while she wasn't (during their PV shoot in Japan, she couldn't physically handle it), even if Gemma is older... So yeah Beckii might not be all that talented in singing and dancing, but she does have work ethic/passion or whatever you might call it XD

Agree with Shi, she seems very grounded about the whole thing, perhaps she knows that you can only be an idol for so long in Japan, so she's just making the most out of it. I think she can just forget about breaking the UK though.

after watching the documentary i respect her a bit more for what she does but i still kinda dont like her^^; in all i kinda feel sorry for gemma^^; i mean u could tell she really was beating herself up over the whole thing about the recording of the pv
