An Italian man who argued with his son over Sony PlayStation tactics was recovering in hospital on Monday after the teenager stabbed him in the neck with a 15-inch kitchen knife, police and hospital officials said.
The man, identified as Fabrizio R., suffered a deep cut to the throat after his 16-year-old son, Mario, attacked him during an argument on Sunday over the soccer video game FIFA 2009.
Police said the argument broke out when the 46-year-old storekeeper offered his son advice on tactics to improve his play, and then turned the television off in response to his son's behavior. (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE60O32C20100125)

people are getting crazier everyday...

Oh I know about FIFA 09, that's the one where you steal cars and shoot hookers right?

^ I thought that was GTA XD
Passionate people these days, Madden is even more calm than that

I'm sure anyone over 40 will clearly see the wisdom of applying anecdotal evidence to conclusively explain the nature of something regardless of the subject matter. Just ask Jack Thompson.
Although that's what this 46 year old might have been doing when explaining l33t FIFA tactics to his son. :(

Tuffy was just making a sarcastic comment about those hypocrites that blame "violent" games to crime, rapes, murder and any other problem.
Nice comment !
And about the news itself, i truly don't get why people overreact so much just because of a game. Something that was supposed to be fun. I gotta say I've been somewhat frustrated about a game, but NEVER to anyone playing with me.
Even in competitive games, I've won thousands of rounds in a row in fighting games, but sometimes I've lost a lot in a row too, and I've never come as far as stopped smiling. If it's not fun, I'll simply not play it anymore.

^ I understood the sarcastic comment
but in general, I know of people being passionate for video games, but never led to violence, as so much as not even imitating it. I think some need to take advice with a grain of salt. Oh well Yuna thank you for confirming my thoughts :thumbup

the kid probably had enough with his dad even before the argument. it was probably something that built up since childhood.. the video game just got in the mix

The real keyword is "hooker(s)".
