30 years ago today the U.S. victory over Russia (the most powerful team in the world at the time) although there few facts many people did not know
1. It was a semifinal game
2. The win was still not a factor into winning the gold (as they had a round-robin medal round)
3. They actually won over Finland for the gold in 1980
To look into it more SI wrote an article about it

My feel into it was an inspiration for underdogs to take on the big dogs

Is there a copy of this game available online?
Joe Posnanski had some interesting tidbits in his blog (http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2010/02/21/10-things-about-the-miracle-on-ice/) yesterday.

Here's the final minute and a half with Al Michael's legendary call "Do you believe in miracles? YES!"
5 minutes of the miracle on ice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRALJyv86eY#)
NBC had a look back on the game right before Sunday's USA-Canada match. Great way to get everybody hyped up.
