Title: Wii fit owner falls off balance board; gets sex addiction
Post by: THUNDERDUCK on April 16, 2010, 07:04:24 PM
Thanks to its innovative motion controls, the coming of the Wii has precipitated a dramatic increase in reports of injuries related to video games.

But we're pretty sure we've never heard of an injury quite like this before.

Amanda Flowers, from Manchester, UK, was exercising on her Wii Fit balance board -- like some 20-plus million owners worldwide -- when she slipped and fell. But rather than pulling a muscle or breaking a limb, she ended up with a damaged nerve -- and, as a consequence, a bizarre medical complaint known as "permanent sexual arousal disorder".

Now even vibrations from cellphones or food processors are liable to leave her hot and bothered, according to UK newspaper The Daily Star. She copes by breathing deeply, she told the paper.

True, or tabloid fiction? We'll reserve judgment -- but persistent arousal disorder is indeed a genuine and debilitating condition. Ms. Flowers looks to have a sense of humor about the situation, from her quotes in the Star, but it doesn't sound like all that much fun to us.

I don't mean to be flippant about the situation, I'm sure she'd much rather live without it, but surely it's not that big a problem? Vibrating cellphones causing a problem? Keep it in your bag or if you have to have it on your person, put in your back pocket or shirt pocket.
