Title: Man's legs amputated in meat plant accident

A meat packing worker was critically injured Saturday when he fell into a multi-blade meat grinder and lost both legs.

The accident occurred at around 3 a.m. at Jobbers Meat Packing Co. Inc at Fruitland Avenue and Downey Road in Vernon.

The worker's leg was amputated above the knee by the machine, but he was reportedly conscious when paramedics rushed him to a hospital.  (http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/los_angeles&id=7508402)

That is so terrible. There should have been safety checks in a place like that.
