Has anyone seen the movie yet? I saw a subbed version released online a few days back. The movie is actually based on the anime Basilisk and alot of things were change for the movie.
I recommend anyone who is gonna watch the movie watch the anime as well. The anime gives a more in depth story of each character and tells a better love story than the movie.
Here's a link to the trailer: http://www.shinobi-movie.com <- watch the HD trailer by all means!!!
And here's a link to the subbed movie: http://www.newtorrents.info/?id=5884
I think Erika Sawajiri is in it too, and she's Hotarubi in the movie.

woah, i had no idea this was based on Basilisk. I saw the movie a little while back as Harlock upped it in the asshole. I thought it was pretty good, but i was kinda disappointed with the action.

hmm, i might have to check it out then. some of the characters were really cool and it seems like the movie couldve benefitted from more char development... then again, im a sucker for rich characters

yah, i thought she had a bigger role though, she has like third billing in the movie lol. its all good though, sawajiri is nice.

Well, I watched the original Basilisk, and must say that it was an awesome piece of work. Looking forward to this one.... in a while. :D
-
wow, didn't even know it was based on an anime. But it did remind me of ninja scroll (with the poison chick :P )
The fight scene were awesome, totally unexpected (for me atleast)
-
Well, I'm fairly disappointed in this movie. They changed too much from the original Basilisk.
Oh well, but if you look at it from the view of the people who never watched the anime or read the original manga, it fares out pretty well. :D
-
i read the manga. the manga sux.
-
Most likely because people die too quick huh?
And my favorite (Yasshamaru) dies so damn easily too. But hey, that's ninjutsu for ya. >.>
-
the only names i remembered were gennosuke and hotarubi... lol
i liked the guy with the sleeves, he was cool!

In manga, yashamaru, koshiro are cool.
In movie, they are not.
In manga, it's just 2 prince compete to get the commander position -- lame
In movie, the samurai tried to get rid of ninja village -- sad but cool.
In manga, Hotarubi is creepy.
In movie, everyone love Hotarubi.
In manga, Gennosuke got a very lame genjutsu.
In movie, it's the best genjutsu i ever seen from ninja.
In manga, there're some stupid ninja. Not to say their stupid ninjutsu.
In movie, they take the good things from manga and make it perfect.
Oboro is lame.... in both manga and movie.
The only good thing in manga.... perhaps the nude and sex scene?
-
Koshiro indeed sucks. Why is he in the Kouga side when he's supposed to be with the Iga ninjas? And what happened to his air vaccum ninjutsu?
Same plot really on both stories, but they just added a bit more with the attack on the current villages. The attack already happened once in the manga, that being when Nobunaga attacked the Iga clan's home.
And Gennosuke was supposed to suck. He got Danjo's skill after all. They made him look better in the movie indeed. xD
Even in the movie, there're a lot of stupid ninjas. What were the trained ninjas doing when they were being attacked by the bushi? Just holding their swords and running around doing nothing. What did the mutant ninja (who was supposed to be at the Kouga clan too)when he was fighting the Kouga impostor freak (who happened to be a mix of two Kouga ninjas lol)? Kiss the sexy bitch and kill himself.
And you know you love nudity and sex scenes.

The Kagero that was in Ninja Scroll is the same Kagero in Basilisk/Shinobi.
Originally it's based on a fiction novel by the late Fuutarou Yamada.

i finally watched it this weekend. good shit. too bad the dude with the long sleeves died so early.
-
Yeah, Yasshamaru was cool, but died to early on both the movie and the anime/manga. :x
-
i wish all the shinobi dun die that way *it's so fast and really easy*. LOL, especially Gennosuke-sama.
-
I don´t like the movie. I preffer Basilisk. The only thing I like from the movie is Sawajiri´s appearance. I love her
-
the movie was gud ....but the cut the ninjas from 10 to 5 ...and changed the story ..but overall gud movie 8/10
-
Hope there is much more action but still a nice movie...
-
actually, i watched this movie because of sawajiri erika,,, though she only got small role,,,(>_<)
-
Great movie.. 8,5/10
-
Movie was good, but as stated watched the movie because of many nice ladies that were casted.
But I too did'nt even notice that it was based on Basilisk...I was then *Oh Yeah* :ONbingo:
-
a good movie with hot ladies and alot of killing = A*
-
I rate Shinobi the movie 7/10.
The action is too quick and the plot is a bit sloppy. Just my opinion. :panda_shifty:
-
well, this movie is not based on basilisk because basilisk is not the original. it is actually both basilisk and "shinobi movie" that is based on a novel by Futaro Yamada called "The Kouga Ninja Scrolls"
-
Many nice ladies? theres about 3 and i only interest in erika and a bit of poison lady.
i like Gennosuke special power, and oboro's deadly special, more like a fatality in mortal kombat ha.
-
enjoyed the movie. i'd say pretty well done. i like their costume design
-
the film is nice. Tho are the fights too short.
I also found the movement in a fight looking to much like anime
-
It was kind of cheesy but i liked the character designs and the mood the director created before fights.. Although the fights ended a little too fast for my liking =\
-
probably i like to watch this movie because of my beloved erika sawajiri XD...after read the previous posts...maybe i need to watch the anime version too..and not to forget the manga...i hope i can start to like the movie not just because of the actress...need to understand the storyline....:)
-
good character design, rly nice action scenes with all those cool jutsu, not the best storyline, but overall i enjoyed it tho
-
This movie was so-so.. Well I like Naruto and it was nice to see some 'live-action' ninjutsu.. :D But Hotarubi aka Sawajiri Erika died too fast.. No gooD~! :ONtantrum:
-
.....I do agree. The movie was rather fast-paced. But overall, good. It earns a 7/10 for me as well.
I actually stumbled across this movie looking at Yukie's dramawiki page. (I had just finished watching Gokusen and looking for other dramas she would be in and saw "Shinobi: Heart under Blade" XD).
I loved all the special effects. Especially Oboro's "death stare" and Hotarubi's magic 'dust'.
I was kind of sad at the end when Gennosuke died. :(..
-
i totally didn't catch Erika Sawajiri in the movie when I watch it in the first time, after someone told me i rewatch the movie than i catch her.
-
Yeah this movie was pretty good
-
it seems i missed out on this movie :OMG:
anyone will be so kind to post up a subbed torrent version of the show again?
Thanks
-

how could you? haha... i thought she was in quite a lot of scenes... the scene where she sprinkled the gold dust looked very beautiful
-
yeahh.. how could u.. how could u miss that kawaii musume.. even she is in dark mood with no intention in living on her eyes...... but i think... she perfectly resemble a cute kunoichi ohhohoo....
-
I really enjoyed this movie, too. Maybe a 8/10.
It was fast paced like some of you guys said, but it was an action movie. If it slowed down a bit, then it would of got boring for me.
Only thing that made me said "What?", was at the end. With all the special effects in the movie, Yukie had no signs of any damage.
(Hope that didn't spoil it for you guys that have not seen it.)
