Love these games ever since GT1 came out on PS1. Epic soundtrack, epic amount for cars and great tracks and gameplay.

We can discuss everything!! Fav game, fav track, stats, fav cars, lap times  :panic:

Here are my GT4 stats:

Epic soundtrack..

Fuck yeh it has

GT1 Soundtrack: Ash - Lose Control (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGdDaH4wtxY#)

As an Ash fan before GT1 even came out, I was so excited to see one of my favourite songs in the game. And it's perfect. I can sense the virtual tyres being burned by my Nissan Skyline R32 GTR anytime I hear it. I still listen to it when I'm playing any driving game, usually in the final race of a Championship, just to get the adrenaline kicked in for a suitably epic finish :D

Last one I played was GT4. And it was great, but it was a cruel reminder of why I kind of turn away from the GT series. It really is for complete gearheads. And I'm the furthest thing from a gearhead, so to look at all the possible upgrades you can make to a car and only have a text description of the changes it would make just goes way over my head. And then you have to make use of it by tuning the car and it's..no, not quite for me. I don't really want to go back and forth between menus trying to find a sweet spot for braking or finding out if adjusting the height on the tyres made any difference. At least not back then. Now thanks to Forza, I'm kind of open to the whole thing and slowly learning what's good and what's not. I don't know if GT5 had it, but I really want the series to have something like Forza's system in there where, you can just choose an option and it automatically finds a quick upgrade to the car for you and tells you in numbers what the differences are.

And the licenses! Argh!

Ash and Feeder  :twothumbs :twothumbs

GT1 Soundtrack: Feeder - Sweet 16 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3gd79FkwDc&feature=related#)

I actually love the license system, it's so challenging and offers re-play value. First get all bronze, then try to get all silver etc

I always though "If I were a millionaire I'd built the Grand Valley racing track"

In GT1, that Impreza WRC was THE accelerating fastest car.. you could use it to win anything. I also love how the car gets on two wheels if you hit the curbs  XD

Don't get me wrong, I love the licenses. Same way I loved the arcade mode in Project Gotham Racing 2. Dunno what it is, but if you ask me to put in a lap time, with a specific car chosen by the game, I'll love it. If you choose your own car then it's crap, cause you can tune one up and get it easy, or again for someone like me, getting gold would be impossible if you didn't know what the best way to tune it up was. But with a specific car, then you know it's in reach and yet it can still be really challenging. It's something I miss in Forza 3.

Really for me, the perfect driving game would have the realistic physics (including car damage this time), graphics and multitude of car options from GT, with the accessibility, customisation and online services from Forza based in cities with radio stations that play DJ's and music native to that country like in PGR2. Oh and the tracks can have different weather conditions and you can race at each city at the correct time of day like in Metropolis Street Racer, so I can drive in London at 14:17 in the day but in Tokyo it would be 22:17 in a night stage.

I'm drooling at the thought of it!

Gran Turismo is one of my favorite game franchises. GT4 was awesome, though I never actually completed the game 100%. The races at the high levels were to long and I didn't have time to complete them. I ended up buying the weirdest cars and tried tuning them the best I can for time trials lol.

I was also big into drift tuning cars and made crappy videos of them  Really hard to control a drift without a steering wheel controller. Had to make do with a regular PS2 controller.

Can't wait for GT5! Game is gonna be boss. I still need a PS3

Easily one of my alltime favorite racing sim games.
I've only actually played the first 2 thoroughly, and just a very lil bit of 3 on my friends ps2 years back.

My game % in GT4 must've been really low. Used all my time taking pics of cool cars in photo mode~

Sony has revealed that epic racer Gran Turismo 5 will be released on 3rd November in Europe.

The announcement was made at the company's press conference ahead of this week's Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany.

Kazunori Yamauchi's labour of love will arrive on these shores just one day after GT5 sees the light of day in North America: the 2nd November US launch was announced at E3.

It's really happening. Isn't it?

Took em long enough!!

If I'm completely honest, it took them too long. I'm a massive GT fan, but even I kinda lost interest  :nervous

GT5 adds course creation, kart racing

Quote
The course count for Polyphony Digital's real driving simulator Gran Turismo 5 is now approaching infinity, thanks to the game's just revealed Course Maker, shown off today at Gamescom in Germany.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi demoed the Course Maker feature today, showing that it's not the type of tool that will let players build a custom course from scratch, but something different. A fully featured track editor, Yamauchi says, "really requires a complete CG tool, which would limit the number of users who could use it."

Instead, Gran Turismo 5's Course Maker lets you build a custom racetrack based on a set of parameters. Players can select a theme, choose the number of sections and course type (one way or loop), weather, time of day and length. Two of the themes shown off were Toscany and the Belgian High Fens.

The Course Maker lets you edit that track section-by-section, choosing the frequency of curves, course width, sharpness of corners, degree of topography tracing, and bank angles. Those choices are set by sliders or drop down lists. Yamauchi created a pair of custom tracks, both with the same theme but with different parameters. He quickly took each for a test drive, illustrating how quickly a player could create two very different courses.

Yamauchi also offered a look at Gran Turismo 5's newest vehicle, karts. The Polyphony Digital head honcho said that it was planned to be a feature for the next game in the series, but after the feature was apparently "leaked," the team decided to include it earlier.

I was never a fan of open car racing... I thought it sucked when GT3 had that F1 style car in it

The strength of the GT series are the hunderds of EVERY DAY cars which you can drive. Cars you could actually own!

I'm glad to see the anticipation for gt5. The 3d is freaking epic and so are the new tracks and cars. The American version still have some bugs from what I heard. Hope they manage to fix them. Wished I was testing gt5 instead of being stuck testing god of war 2 for the  psp (; ̄ェ ̄)

Wow. Is it really that big of a shock to hear that GT5's been delayed again?

Quote
Sony has delayed Gran Turismo 5 again.

The racing game has been pushed back from a 2nd November US date. The US PlayStation blog assures us it will still arrive "this holiday season".

The Japanese release date has also been pushed back to "holiday 2010", according to a translation of the game's website.

**UPDATE**

Sony Europe has confirmed to Eurogamer that Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed in Europe, too.

Gran Turismo 5 will now be released here "before Christmas".

"We are sorry to say that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available on the previously announced release date of November 3rd, but the game will be released before Christmas," a statement read.

"We sincerely apologise to GT fans for the delay, however creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating a racing experience of the highest quality.

"We are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches later this year. We'll have more information for you in the near future."

I don't play racing sims much so the delay doesn't really bother me but DAMN IT POLYPHONY! You could have made Omega Boost 2, 3 and 4 in all that time. :tama-mad:

^Awesome set-up man!  XD

I finally decided I will not be getting a PS3 in the near future. I looked forward to this game for years and years, but I just don't care anymore. They waited too long  :nervous

I played a bit of GT5 in a store. It looked amazing! The driving feel was pretty much the same, which is good. One thing I really don't like is the damage. Can this be turned off? In addition, there was a huge bug while playing. Every once in a while the entire road would turn green... but that might be related to the screen or something...

Giant Bomb have a 'quick' look at GT5 (http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-gran-turismo-5/17-3535/) And by quick I mean 1hr and 30mins where the first 20 mins is navigating through menus

"Hey Jeff"
"Yeh?"
"The date and time are wrong"
"Oh yeh? Really?!"

  And the load times without installing are just...ugh  :bleed eyes:
