It looks like the sushi song thought to be Morning Musume's 44th single isn't exactly a Morning Musume release.

The mystery revolving around Morning Musume's sushi song has finally been partially revealed. Two weeks after long and intense discussions on the web, Sanspo throws light on the new song by Momusu, except they're not credited as Momusu...

It all started earlier this year. One of the biggest sushi restaurants corporation in Japan, Kura Corpo, approached Tsunku and asked him to do a sushi-themed song. Tsunku, who is an enthusiast of Japanese food (he has his own and successful restaurants, and he even makes secret recipes!) agreed immediately. As a result, a new idol unit to spread the wonders of the sushi culture is born. Welcome Muten Musume! Each Momusu member got its Muten character drew for PR purposes and they even nicknamed them!

Sanspo explains that the song has been playing for the past weeks on many sushi bars and that the customers would ask "What is this song? Who sings it?" and how it has become a hot topic on the web. The article is deliberately not calling the song Morning Musume's 44th single, but says this new song will be released on October 27th. It seems the CD will be released as a Momusu spin-off: Muten Musume.

Well, some people have argued that Tsunku should put an end to MM and re-market the group under a different name to avoid any stigma attached to it. Now, we get to see that put to the test. It'd be funny if more people are willing to buy a single from Muten Musume than from Morning Musume.

Having heard the low quality preview, I'm actually relieved that this isn't the 44th single and just a commercial tie-in. It's certainly not something I'd want as a final hurrah for the outgoing trio, but it is a nice way of promoting some food. It's good to see the weird mystery solved this way.

This song is quite strange. I like it. XD

I would say I'd pick the left cover over the right, as I'd prefer to see the girls on the cover- BUT D: Why couldn't they go green, red, green, red etc. all the way around?! OAO;;
I know they like to keep JunLin and Aika at the back/top normally... but it's irritating that they've followed a pattern part way but not kept it up- and it makes perfect sence to go green, red, etc as they have an even number of members... >__>
I normally don't understand why people think Momusu covers are so bad (I mean, I can see what they're saying but it doesn't annoy me personally) but now I see. OAO;

Yeah the song seemed perfect for interesting choreography-- and yeah, I'm sure there's a dance for when it gets performed live... but it felt like it could have such a great dance shot and funny scenes-- like Otakebi boy WAO meets Onaji Jikyuu de Hataraku Tomodachi no Bijin Mama or something!! D:

A pv could've been really cool. I don't think there ever will be a pv... would seem like a waste to make one after it's release. Actually, it's weird they didn't make a pv... a completely animated one may even be cost effective?

It was not too bad. That song was interesting..When I fisrt heard about Sushi song, I really surprised by the news.
But.. song was not too bad. And their oufit is so not bad.
