Quote from: wiki.en
Minecraft is a sandbox game which allows players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. It is currently in development by Markus Persson (under the pseudonym "Notch"). The gameplay is inspired by Dwarf Fortress, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Dungeon Keeper, and especially Infiniminer. The game has two variants, Alpha and Classic, both with single- and multiplayer options. Classic includes only the building aspects of the game with unlimited blocks, while Alpha includes monsters and a much greater variety of crafting available, as well as requiring players to mine their own blocks. Alpha is currently the latest release of Minecraft, and plans to move into beta sometime in September 2010. Minecraft was developed for about a week before its public release on May 16, 2009 on the TIGSource forums, where it gained a considerable level of popularity. It has been continually updated since then.

I finished my first harbour to keep the pagan animals from destroying the Blessings of Mayuyu (mah boats). There's a series of islands around my major landmass, so I figure to construct several. I need to work on my architectural design, and cook up a lotta glass now that I have lava.

MINECRAFT BABY! It's pretty much the only game I play atm. >_>

I had a cool world with a massive mid ocean sand pyramid(as big as it can be made) and cool underwater glass, tunnels tree house island ect. but I got too crazy with the mining and ended up getting lost miles and miles away. I took a boat around the coast but couldn't find it after hours of searching. Even tried the cartographer but still couldn't find where I was so I just said screw it and started a new world.

I'm more into exploring the caves and finding loot tbh. I keep starting to build stuff but lose interest. Anyway here's my new world.

My hub fortress that still isn't really done. There are a lot of tracks going all over. The ones behind me go off for miles to a really cool mountain formation area. The other long set goes to the temple I just started in the distance. Can also see a bit of the football field size strip mine and floating flower gardens. I still need to clean things up a bit.
(http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/2046/mc1if.jpg) (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/mc1if.jpg/)

Better shot of the temple. I finished the huge stair system which ended up a lot longer than I thought and had to build over the cart track. Need to finish the tower and think of a good name.

All this stuff makes me sad because of my being plagued with exploding cactuses and them constantly destroying my house anytime I step outside the front door  even during the day!!

I've just been staying inside...burrowing endlessly.

I just finished a Rail System from the Castle down to the Cave mine and Me and Iamabowl were just testing it out ahhaha it's so buggy
Here's the end of the line, in the Cave
(http://www.eyeballcancer.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_minecartcave.jpg) (http://www.eyeballcancer.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/minecartcave.jpg)

And we tried riding it from the top, but the playe model doesn't move on the other persons screen. Only the minecart does lol.
(http://www.eyeballcancer.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_iamabowlminecart.jpg) (http://www.eyeballcancer.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/iamabowlminecart.jpg)

Although a pig got stuck on the cart and he got pushed down haha

Amp that area just there with the pig is like, right under your house lol when I was tunnelling the rail system, I ran into your basement :D

Woohoo! The mine concept works :D Multiplayer's fun, zoolander. Message ebc for the server ip.

(edit)
I just realized I should have placed the stairs on the 11th row (it's currently a 10x10 mine) so that I could get those extra spaces taken up by the stairs. Ah well, I'll do it that way next time.

This has definitely been the most fun game i've played since around this time 3 years ago. (TF2 Beta)

I just fininshed my tower 8D

Your tower is awesome! (Reminds me of those needles when you go to the doctor :X)

I was gonna make a tower too maybe there could be some sort of skyway connecting them. Also f mine tracks in multi. Made my game crash like 10 times trying to make just a little one to my house and I couldn't make a booster anyways because the tracks glitch out. It seemed like such a good idea on paper. :smhid

9 yellow dust make the block again, and it acts like a torch. People figure it will be used in lanterns later.

And hellstone (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Hellstone) can burn forever, no need to try to get wood to bug out anymore.

A video from a few days back. Still expanding. Built a huge tower. Added lighting to most of the walkways in that area. Working on a few new houses around, now. Still trying to level it all out :bleed eyes:

Oh yea count me in. :on GJ: My single player world is pissing me off so I need something new and multiplayer is definitely the best!

I made a new world a few days ago so I could get the biomes (they are fucking awesome btw!) Made a giant monolith base and found some really cool floating islands while exploring up north. I decided to make a train station in a mountain with boosters and switches to pick the destination you wanted to go to. Getting all that working was a huge pain in the ASS! :bleed eyes: On top of that now that I finished I find out the initial booster isn't strong enough to get to either location so I have to make a couple more along the way so the carts can make it  and my monster killer machine doesn't work so they get into my base and caverns (especially spiders). I'm about to give up and start fresh on another world again.

Anyway here's the overview:

I've been playing a little bit the past few days. I constructed a really ugly, super-tall tower in the middle of my nice area. Planning to add in windows and other stuff, to try and make it look less bad. I'm also adding a subway system in, for all the major buildings to be connected through. I'm also working on a new skyscraper, but I'm not sure what to do with the design now.. :sweatdrop:

^ There are so many animals now. They drive me nuts. XD

I started a new world yesterday and messed around for a few hours.

Made a nice enclosure for my spawn point, I always forget to do that. Also started to make a little farm for the first time but never finished.

Entrance to a mine to the core of the earth, found quite a bit of diamond down there probably 30-40 already.
(http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/1180/72859864.th.png) (http://img715.imageshack.us/i/72859864.png/)

Started a long path across the big island I'm on.
(http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/7205/26259455.th.png) (http://img600.imageshack.us/i/26259455.png/)

Made some random landmarks along the way.
(http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5386/55862084.th.png) (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/55862084.png/)

Can kind of see the lava lighthouse in the back. I messed it up so the top is off center from the tower but I'm too lazy to bother fixing it. Puts out some good light though.
(http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/8734/11049631.th.png) (http://img842.imageshack.us/i/11049631.png/)

Path goes on for probably a mile or two leading to another area....
(http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/665/31836344.th.png) (http://img708.imageshack.us/i/31836344.png/)

Not sure what this is. Thinking of making it a train station.

House in progress. Gonna make it a huge complex. Figure I'll just keep piecing sections onto it and see how it comes out.

^ I stumbled on the Yogscast guys and have been watching from the beginning. Started off like most other Minecraft series, build a house survive the night collect materials and fight off monsters, only infinitely more entertaining than others because Simon and Lewis are hilarious.

After a few videos though it gets strange as they start to find structures they didn't build and also fall into some traps set for them. They start to realize that the (supposedly) private server they're playing on is being played on by someone else. Soon they are flung into a storyline and directed around uncovering more and more of the story. The whole structure is fascinating and the guys are so entertaining themselves that I even started watching their WoW and other game videos even though I have no interest in the games.

Cannot recommend it enough. It's a long watch but oh so worth it. Israphel...

I've just started to build the wall. It'll be a huge wall (higher than the mountain!) with some houses inside or just one huge one I'm not sure yet.
I plan to dedicate some rooms to Berryz PV locations, just since the amount of textures is limited and the space might not even be enough to make them look good I don't know if this is really going to work.

Putting the huge area I leveled to good use (I'm doing both buildings in the first pic), & showing off my Tanamin tribute. Made the crappy hiragana sign, and I actually did make a river, in the process of leveling the region, from the huge channel I carved to farm dirt.

edit: done with the place

A major thanks to whoever destroyed my SKE48 sign(and from what I hear, damaged some of Amp's stuff too). If it was in anyone's way or causing anyone or the server trouble I would have gladly moved it somewhere else or modified it. But I guess sensibility goes out the window when something as serious as jpop or Minecraft is involved.

Seriously though, thanks for ruining something I had a lot of fun creating and spent my entire Friday night and Saturday afternoon collecting materials for, planning in a practice world, and building out to try and add something unique in a previously totally blank space. I don't know what your reasons were for doing such a childish thing, but I'm sure they're great, really.

Man, that's horrible.

I have too much respect for others to believe that what they like and what they create is any less valid than what I like and create.

Even though I have no interest in AKB-related stuff at all, I'll gladly help you guys rebuild.
What someone did to your guys' stuff is just wrong and it offends me that someone would do that.

For now, my giant 娘。sign is on hold.

That's a shitty thing to do. Is there a way to check who modified a area last? I've seen they can do that on some servers. Find out who did it.

I have some wool I could donate to a fix if you are willing Data. I know having something cool you made griefed like that can be frustrating.

Thanks guys. I am a little miffed by the gesture, but more than anything else I just don't get the point of doing that. If it was to spite me, I'm sorry but you failed quite miserably. It's just a game and I can do it all over again. If it was something fandom related, burning the SKE sign ain't gonna make me love em less. I've got Churi-Rena love on my side, beeatch.

Thanks for the help and offers, guys. Amp, Slack, and pika have given me so much material that I could probably build three signs now. The next one will be a bit more fire-proof. I'll work on it sometime this week.

It was me! sorry, I thought amp build it... anyways if you need I can give you materials and stuff to build it again but this time if it's not too much trouble maybe build it like over somewhere else. (like another island)
I don't mean to be a debbie downer here but it's kinda annoying having giant signs like this right near my house. I kinda raged cause I felt maybe you could have asked first before building it there I dunno. whatever maybe I took this game too seriously.

I put some bones in amps dirt chest, mainly for catching dogs. But I dunno if it's fair to give stuff out that can be found normally even though it's a big project if I give out stuff for this then I'd have to also give out stuff for future things and it's not very fair for everyone if I have to keep drawing a line at what I give out.
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: Slack on April 11, 2011, 02:58:45 AM
I understand. I'm not asking for like a bunch of stacks of pink wool or anything! :D
Just sayin' that certain resources are only available from enemies, which we have none of.

Pink dye needs bone meal and rose red to make, and since the server's on peaceful, bones don't have any in-game source I can think of.
Without any in-game source of bones, I suppose we could settle for a red sign though...
It might actually work a little better due to the contrast.

Anyway, I've been revising the design a little.
Tell me what you think:

behind giant pika I set up a sheep farm ^^

if you walk far away (it says 24 blocks but I think it's farther than that) then just walk back to it, new animals will spawn and you can do this endlessly as long as no-one else is there.
I set this up because I needed lots and lots of wool to make giant pika, so feel free to use! :O

I heard that the 1.5 update will be this week. Achievements, stats, rain, lightning, snow ect.

Stats, Achievements, Snow and Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy882ILYJMM#ws)

Also heard they are adding owls and other birds soon which is awesome because the sky seems empty sometimes (water does too since there are only semi retarded squids). That mod with birds really added to the atmosphere more than I would have thought for such a simple thing. Just hearing the chirps in the morning and cawing at night made it more rich an experience.

Here's my newly renovated house! Added fountains and the brick front recently. Thinking about removing the giant "Data" on top. It's lulzy, but kinda tacky. HAHA. I had to go out faaaaaaaaaaaar to find all that clay. You guys have totally raped all the non-renewable surface resources.

Nice, Data!  I saw the big ol DATA on your house, but I didn't get close enough to check out your fountains.  NICE!

Zero and I worked some more on the railways today.  I'm pleased to say that I just finished some work and Akihabara Station in Little Akiba is now functioning! :D

Yesterday I made another station, which I envision to be a hub serving Lil Akiba, the Castle (I forgot, was it zoo's castle or Data's?) and JPHIPland.  It also is the site of a nice lookout point, if you go up the stairs.  From there you can also see Slack's epic work in progress.

The new station is unimaginatively named Lookout Point Station, since it's underneath the hill where Lookout Point is.  From there you can continue onto Little Akiba.  There are lines going to and from Akiba Station, so no worries of collisions. XD (Well, from incoming riders.  Animals are another story.  Remind me to make fences...)

w00t. ok I need to go to sleep.  I feel like I'm not making any sense. XD  Just ride the rails and get around quicker!

um guys I have some bad news
I was trying to setup a 2nd Minecraft Server so we could all have a go of this Amazing Ghibli World http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/-minecraft-ghibli-world-/ (http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/-minecraft-ghibli-world-/)

So I made a folder and called it minecraftserver2 (this was not a good idea) and then started the server under that folder with the ghibli map. At first it didn't work but then I realized I had unzipped the world files wrong so I changed back a directory and proceeded to remove the minecraftserver2 directory because I was just going to start it again from scratch. In my haste I used tab to autofill the name of the folder which instead of filling it to minecraftserver2 it filled it to minecraftserver and this is the JPH!P world server....

I just accidentally deleted the JPH!P Minecraft world.

I didn't make any backups t_t I don't deserve to be your admin t_t I will never not make backups or stuff ever again!

I dunno what I can say to make it up to you guys, other than the Ghibli world works :3 if you want to try it. The server is sica.jphip.com

The texture pack they use in the video is http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=64678 (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=64678)

Although it's a shame (there were some truly UNFREKINGBELIEVABLE creations on the JPH!P server :shocked) Minecraft is a game at it's best when you first start a world anyways. :thumbsup That's what I used to do in single player when i first started playing. Sometimes I would generate a new world, put it on hard, make a rule that I could only keep what I could carry in one row of inventory and my hot bar and just go exploring. :P

I actually don't feel too bad about this turn of events.
While I did spend all that time making all that crazy stuff, it always kind of lingered in the back of my mind that something like this could happen and all of it would be wiped away. I was never under any illusions that my works would be permanent and enduring. That's why I made sure I took pictures when I was done and saved all the plans.

That said, pointing to something and saying "I made that" is only part of the joy of Minecraft.  Ultimately it's always been more about the exploration and the process of building things than the finished results. If anything, this gives us all a chance to be even more ambitious,  without anything to limit us but our imaginations.

While this could be considered a disaster, I choose not to think of it that way. Instead, it is an opportunity to start anew and re-experience the joy and excitement of discovering the world all over again. For that, let me be the first to say, "Thank you, ebc!"

While the Ghibli world is nice, somehow it doesn't feel right building stuff in it.
Since that server started with someone else's creations on it, it's like it doesn't fully belong to jphip.
Don't get me wrong.  It's a nice place to visit, but it's somehow not ours.
I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Is there a way we could have a clean world, perhaps in addition to the Ghibli one?

Ok new world is up! on sica.
I have one reqest though, I'm not really a huge fan of giant signs and things everywhere but I'm not against people making them just make them a little bit further from the center of the map because what will happen is they take up so much space and after awhile makes the world look tacky. It's like if CocaCola put a giant sign into orbit above your house and you had to look at it every day it's not that nice :3

According to my interpretation of the portal article at the Minecraftwiki, if two real-world portals go to the same portal in the nether, you have to make the second portal in the nether yourself at approximately the right coordinates. (taking the 1/8 scale into account)

It seems that only the first portal (and ones made far enough away) are made for free by the world.
More testing? For Science!
Title: Re: Minecraft

88 MILES PER HOUR~~~

No testing needed!!! not only did it work, we have a NETWORK now :DDDD

Slack, I made a portal in your co-ordinates you gave me, but it locked onto your existing gate, and now it works properly as a 2-way door!

Now there's a portal going to tron station/yuu's brothel, kimmu HQ, slacks, data's house, pika's house & top of the mountain near zoo's place.

If anyone wants me to make a portal for them, just give me the co-ordinates and I'll try to match it in the nether, it usually appears pretty close to where you wanted it in the real world. \o/

If you make a portal in the real world, it'll just head to the spawn portal in the nether, so you can only make them in the nether.

This is how to do it yourself though, get the XYZ co-ordinates in the real world (Y doesn't matter) and divide each X and Z by 8, then try to find them in the nether and make the gate, and you should end up pretty close to where you wanted.
If it doesn't work (you'll show up at the spawn gate) make a gate in the real world too at the co-ordinates and they should link up.

One thing I will say, is the 2 gates I made yesterday that go really far away are glitchy, the one (on the bottom left of the jphip map) is SUPER glitchy and I put warning signs on it, you can actually get stuck there, so I wouldn't advise using it, I had to kill myself to leave it. the other gate near zoo's nether house seems to work okay most of the time (top left of the jphip map) but it can do the graphics glitch too, so be careful if you go there too
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: Slack on May 28, 2011, 04:21:52 AM
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: huge success.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Anyway, if I tear down the real-world portal and move it a little, will it link to the right nether-portal?
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: pikapikapika on May 28, 2011, 06:59:56 AM
I'm not entirely sure about that, I'm thinking either, if you tore it down then used the portal in the nether, it would appear again somewhere close by (free obsidian!) or lock onto the gate again when you build it again then use the nether side

I think when you remade it the chances are it would go real world => nether spawn gate if you used it in the real world, but anyone else using the nether side would lock-on/spawn a gate nearby too, so you could get one of us to help.

I had a little trouble with data & Z's gates getting crossed earlier, so I'm not entirely 100% on all this

Portal to: Hart's cabin (near slacks in the nether)
Myk's Ski Lodge & snow lands (past the portal to pika's island in nether)

Unfortunately I had...an accident with my garbage disposal and it burned along with me...

I didn't realize how far away I am from everyone else once I respawned. The closest sites from me are Pika's Beach House and one of his minning sites. (And they don't even show up on the map!)

Even in the nether I'm still far away from everyone's portals! :(

It may be worth noting that the map doesn't automatically do complete updates.
Only changes in the area around you are recorded.

Also, I think the new tall grass might not be supported on the overhead map site -- those blocks appear black.

Just when I first started out:

Future plans might include a green house, library, charcoal factory/tree farm, park, and a bakery. Also need to find way to connect to everyone else's places besides the nether portal network.

Looks like my lastest project, a tree farm, has been successful.

Just today I've grown 38 trees out of 61 saplings, producing 182 chunks of wood and 42 saplings, using up only 1 iron axe.

According to my calculations, that's 182 pieces of charcoal, 728 planks, and 2,912 sticks.

I think I'll set up some chests for everyone to use. Also, anyone can use my Mining sites 1, 3, and 4. Mining site 2 is for my personal use (for now).

AWRIGHT

OK PLEASE DON'T LAUGH AT THE UGLINESS OF THIS THING.

I decided I wanted to try building Sunspear; it's a place from A Song of Ice and Fire books. One of the famous buildings in Sunspear is Sandship: "a large building that looks like a dromond" and is "dun colour". So of course building a building shaped like a ship sounds like a lot of fun (...) so I decided to give it a try first!

If anything, it has turned out to be way too small (nobody would call this a LARGE building), and I need to remove that hill thing from the front of it...

But whatever!!!

This is what I have so far:

Inside right
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k165/shirenu/2011-06-03_193033.png)

xD

I like the insides better... There's a table in the middle of the room on the left, and I'm thinking of adding a library

Need to do a lot of landscaping around the Sanship still, make it look cleaner

EDIT: Oh and it's mostly one material because to me Sunspear seems like a place with very simple materials and design  (aside from some special places) >o< The city itself is made of mud & straw :O

EDIT2: I forgot to say this is in solo game, so don't try to look for it in the jphip server

I finally got around to playing this game and now I'm totally hooked.

My first house that isn't some creaky shack or a hole in the wall:

(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/th_2011-06-15_185035.png) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/?action=view&current=2011-06-15_185035.png)

That's the second time I made that fireplace. The first time was a disaster. :nervous

(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/th_2011-06-15_185040.png) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/?action=view&current=2011-06-15_185040.png)

Creeper painting.

(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/th_2011-06-15_185042.png) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/?action=view&current=2011-06-15_185042.png)

(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/th_2011-06-15_190444.png) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/?action=view&current=2011-06-15_190444.png)

(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/th_2011-06-15_190450.png) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj199/Ryosuke623/?action=view&current=2011-06-15_190450.png)

I must say, it's a pretty pimping pad.

It's nicely positioned on the meeting point of three biomes.

Savanna, desert, and apparently some sort of boreal forest.

Now I just need a bit of clay...

Also, pm me the server info if you all want someone new to build with. :twothumbs

Was looking around, checked out Kimuuu's resort.

Since it's "Rika's Beach Bunny Resort", I felt it was missing something...

Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: Slack on June 18, 2011, 03:08:07 AM
Yeah, water behavior can be puzzling.
The minecraftwiki article was a major help figuring it out:

1. You can only fill buckets with water source blocks.
2. An empty block will only be converted to a water source if both these two conditions are met:
- It must be directly adjacent to at least two other water source blocks.
- It must have a solid block directly underneath it.
The second condition is the tricky one.

What this means if you fill a bucket from a water source block that is above another water source block, it will not be converted into a source.
This makes it possible to have empty voids in a seemingly solid body of water.
These voids will show water flowing into them, or if they aren't at the surface will make it hard to move through them.

How you fix this is by making a pillar from the bottom until the top block turns into a source, then you can tear it down one block at a time from the top.
Alternately, if the void is next to a solid block, you could put a water source block there with a bucket.

You can prevent this by making sure you only take buckets from 1-block-deep water.

^ I remember learning about the water physics the hard way when I tried to set up that waterfall and pool in one of my worlds.

I also watched a few videos on how to make pools and infinite water sources. Too bad lava doesn't work the same way.  :(

Seems like a fire has broken out on the piece of land I made by teleporting from far inside of the nether!

I think that happens when trees spawn next to lava on the surface, lol

Edit: found out why~ the fire went out already too, no danger :D

I've kinda been staying away from minecraft till the update. Sounds like it will be Thursday and is another bug fix update besides pistons and sheers, which sound pretty neat. Will be used for sheep sheering and gathering placeable leaf blocks/bushes!

Hopefully Notch and Jeb can ramp up adding lots of new stuff and not taking as long between updates. Or at least do big updates if it's gonna be over a month between. Check out the crazy game changing stuff this guy made where lately it takes Notch months to add maps and bugfixes. :/

New update D:

+ Added pistons
+ Fire or redstone is now required to trigger TNT
+ Fences can be stacked
+ Added shears
+ Shears can be used to pick up leaf blocks
+ Shears can be used to shear sheep without hurting them
* Sheep no longer drop wool from being punched
- Removed Herobrine

SO NOW U NEED IRON TO MAKE SHEARS AND NEED SHEARS TO GET ANY WOOL. T-T lol
bye bye sheep punching >o< *lonely tear*

I've been building a hotel in the smaller snowland near where I also have my snow valley & snow wall ^^

This is the hotel!

There are 3 rooms at present, I'm not planning on building more rooms atm but I'm thinking of adding a craft area & maybe a sightseeing tower on the roof.

The hotel has a sauna 8D (Yes there's a fire behind that glass)

No shower tho sorry, but you can roll around in snow after.

EDIT: ALMOST FORGOT!!

DO VISIT THE HOTEL! YOU CAN EVEN BOOK A ROOM IF YOU'D LIKE.

It's kind of far away tho:
480.9
79.6
-2720.679
There's a nether connect quite near in my snow valley, but I haven't used it to travel to other locations yet so idk >_>

Here's my snow valley:

(Can you tell I love using ice blocks)

ANOTHER EDIT:
There's a nether portal to mah valley, in the nether it's at:
60
96
-333

^lol sounds like a challenge!
I'll start one, but I might not have the time to finish it (over 2700 blocks of dirt and rails  ). Maybe other people can help building it whenever they have time and are close to it.
I'll put a chests with resources for tools and dirt etc. near to where I start (x=500, z=0) so everyone can help even without having stuff  :D

Ah well, the dirt part is almost finished and zoolander already did quite some part of the rails.
Sorry to whoever's house is right next to the huge stairs though, didn't notice it when I started building. I had to start somewhere near center anyway though and digging all 2k  blocks under the ground wasn't really an option so I went above clouds to not disturb anyone's normal view further.

you can see progress on the map http://yuri.jphip.com/minecraftmap/ (http://yuri.jphip.com/minecraftmap/)  :D

I just made a little portal to the start of shirenu railway! so you can access the site much easier!

plus! I raised the portal in the nether to hart's cabin to be on the top level with the other portals  :cow:
I'll probably raise up slack's to be on the same level too at some point, so it's all easier to access everything in the nether.

I have a little circular automatic railway in the nether which I might extend to reach the other portals, but to keep it automatic I need a crazy amount of gold, so maybe somtime in the future, lol.

Oh also, I have noticed a while back, before the sever reset that someone had set up shop in my mines with a crafting table and a furnace, and also made another entrance to my mines on pika island, now I know my island looks pretty much untouched on the surface, but underneath I'm having a lot of fun digging and finding things, and
I also have plans for my island, so if it's not too much to ask, could it be left alone? thanks.
I mean there's a whole untouched world out there, with plenty of places to dig or find materials without digging up my island.

Oh and I'll make an underwater glass tunnel too from the station on my island to the start of shirenu railway so it's all connected \o/
Title: Re: Minecraft

^ YUS that's one of the reasons why I wandered off to look for something new  (And ended up very far.....) Because I was afraid I'd accidentally end up taking something that someone else wanted to use etc. especially because I was so close to the spawn point roflrofl

Now I'm in solitude like a proper Finn

That's nice :thumbup

I doubt people steal blocks from other people's islands on purpose though, you often just can't tell where you even are and who owns what place and what an island is and what not. Even though pika has the huge pikachu that people should be able to notice they can still walk around in a circle, so ending on the other end of the island but think they went far away especially when distance is set to short or tiny. When I got on the new server and read ebc telling to get more far apart I also started wandering around, thought I was far away already but suddenly noticed buildings so I went further eventually turning a little and thus in the end ended up close to the point I thought I was far away from  it's kinda on this sort of mainland so I think it's not too much of a problem in this case.
Basically the more far apart you build the more difficult it becomes to know what land is occupied because stuff is hidden somewhere especially with all the high mountains on the current server.
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: pikapikapika on July 05, 2011, 10:14:04 PM
well that's not exactly true in this case, because when the server reset the person didn't have any other entrances anymore
and the only way in was from my main tunnel, so they walked into my front door and started digging.

Then later on they came back and made another entrance from outside.

Coming soon:

(http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/746/tumblrlnvpoh3rje1qzb7ox.png) (http://notch.tumblr.com/)

Most of the basics of the game engine is in place, so it’s time to flesh this game out into something more gamey. More content, more exploration, more things to do, and interesting combat! Once this update is out, there will only some tweaks, optimizations and code cleanups left to the core game before we can call it a full release.

We’ve got a list of some 40+ things we want to add to the game, some small, some big. Some huge. We’ve finished a fair number of the items, but there’s still a significant amount of work left. While I can’t reveal the date yet for various reasons, we do have a release date for the Adventure Update in mind, and we’re hoping we’ll be able to hit it.

Jens and I are keeping the exact contents of the update secret, but we do leak some information every now and then to keep people interested and to stop us from going insane. For the most immediate spoilers, you can follow us on Twitter (@notch and @jeb_), or on Google+ (+Markus Persson and +Jens Bergensten).

Here are a few of the things we’ve revealed so far:

    * NPC villages
    * Randomly generated dungeons
    * New biome code
    * Fully working Creative Mode (and individual admins can enter Creative Mode on a Survival Mode server if they choose)
    * Critical hits
    * Sprinting
    * More farming options

As soon as I can reveal the release date we’re aiming for, I will!

Oh, and the modding support is happening, honest.

More exploration sounds fun tho :3 And NPC villages especially in SP mode should be fun, it's so lonely

I agree with shi D:
but at least there will be stuff to do!! I feel bored, often ^^

Oh! and the underwater railway from pika station => shirenu railway is complete~!
I'll probably clean it up as time goes on, adding more glass so it's more like a underwater viewing, thingy :D

More content, more exploration, better combat (shields?) sounds all good to me. The building aspect is great already that adventure and atmosphere stuff is what Minecraft needs to be beyond amazing (and the mod api stuff notch promised) It'll still have everything else just lots more enemies, animals, loot, weapons, terrain variety ect. (hopefully)

One thing I'd like is the NPC villages to be like in millianare where they grow bigger and more complex over time as you trade with them and what not.

lol

Just to let you know: it's safe to use the shirenu railway now.
Only thing left I have to add is the automatic start button for the station near shii's place (will add in the next couple minutes) but you can already get from one place to the other. I'll also add some more booster to make the ride faster and some more trees and flowers to make the ride less boring but it already works.
The chests at the stations will have a couple carts so you don't need to bring one.

edit: also even though it's almost complete everyone can always still modify everything as long as it keeps working, I won't mind. So if you ever have some good idea go ahead and change it~

Completed the circle line in the nether, and I had enough gold to make it AUTOMATIC  :cow:
(I thought of it like the underground train in my city or london, since hell is underground, right :D)

Now it is just a prototype, so it's not exactly as fast as I would like it, just wait for a train (there are two on the line)
1) it runs counter clockwise
2) if you stay on the line for too long you'll bump into the other cart, lol
3) it goes to spawn, pika's/myk's, shirenusuperrailway, harts, slacks, and the hub with everyone else
4) i might reduce it to one train if I can get it moving faster, but that would also make it harder to catch the damn train lol
5) slacks portal is now on the upper level with the other portals
6) I may try to work in a little circuit at each station to make the cart stop for a few seconds before moving on, but I have no idea how, lol

Sounds interesting. I don't know how either but maybe you can use this track thing that powers powestone when driving over it with a cart and a delay thing... if there is some negation element it could make a powered rail without power to stop the cart and after a few sec it's letting it have power again.. somehow... well good luck  XD
I have a couple power rails left from the shirenu railway I'll drop in one of the boxes on your island later, maybe you can use them to get it moving faster.

Post by: Slack on July 09, 2011, 09:49:41 PM
^ I'd try to rig up a detector rail with some repeaters on max delay wired up to a powered rail.
Probably have to do an elevation change to make the cart stop and go in the right direction again.
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: pikapikapika on July 09, 2011, 09:52:17 PM
oh yeah! thanks I had some ideas along those lines (maybe I had an idea after all lol)
also I think 2 unpowered power rails will stop a train, and like, when the cart touches the sensor rail, the unpowered rail stops it, delay circuit, then the 2 power rails get charged up to send it on it's way :D

Ohshit those squid men are scary! D:
I always play on peaceful since the first time I played, I made a hole in the ground, build a door and some tools and started mining down- and just my luck, my hole in a wall happens to be just on/above an underground pool of water... O___O So I was freaking out a bit because I was near to falling into it on my way down a couple of steps I made but it was ok, and I began mining out some space and was about to mine my way down into the ground when a skeleton starts shooting at me! :panic: I thought "wait? I didn't leave that door open, I couldn't even figure out how to open it?" so I turn around to look where it's come from and GAHHHHH it had spawned in the water pool bit in the shadows! :panic: It really scared me as it was right there as I turned... I paused it and didn't know what to do (not to mention feeling like a total wuss for not being able to stand one little skeleton) and remembered about peaceful mode.... it hasn't come off since!

I haven't been playing minecraft at all recently...
Though, a little while ago, bon made me play a new world together and I did end up building a pretty funky house- had a skylight and a big window at the front... also a row of pumpkins!~

(not to mention feeling like a total wuss for not being able to stand one little skeleton)

You are definitely not a wuss! Whenever I'm exploring a cave and I hear that "thhhwwwmp" "twannng" a terrifying chill runs up my spine. I mean creepers and zombies are easy to deal with if you are aware but skeletons can be tricky, and if you have low health...... well, I just run like hell.

I haven't played lately either. Waiting for the update. I just hope it's really great, I'm a little worried considering how long it's taking.

But it looks like there will be rivers!

When she told me about the weird twist with their live server and some evil guy appearing and scaring them I decided to give it a chance and watched all their vids (from their series) in a week!

Now that we've got a new computer, perhaps I'll get around to buying minecraft on there and perhaps I'd be able to play on multiplayer on there successfully~! The RAM and everything is a lot better than my partly broken laptop!:D

Well those wikis aren't entirely user friendly! And sometimes those youtube videos don't explain anything at all!

Haven't played in a while. I'm interested to see the 1.8 updates, so might check it out soon.

I started a new world for 1.8. The world generation is really awesome now. Haven't found a town or stronghold yet. Having to eat food is kinda annoying but on the other hand the regenerating health is nice. Playing on hard I pretty much have to use armor all the time now which isn't so bad since you can get so much iron from abandoned mines.

I'm kinda pissed I haven't been able to log into my minecraft account for a few days now though. Not sure what to do to fix it. :(

New mob! Snow golems.

-It will be craftable, is friendly, and throws snowballs at enemies. Also melts in hot biomes.

-Remember that snowballs deal 0 damage.

-Also, they spread snow by walking around. Nice.

-The snowmen are ridiculously suicidal, throwing snowballs at creepers and spiders, annoying them to attack the snowmen. It's funny. : D

I went looking for towns and such on the JPH!P server!

but for some reason the edges of the map are just that now, they don't extend anymore!
it was just sheer, straight cliffs all the way down surrounded by endless ocean!

Also it rains inside my house for some reason

On my own level I haven't managed to find any either, but I went out in leather armor and used the last of my diamonds to make a sword, and I managed to beat a couple of the new enemies, who make sounds like a zombie and give ender pearls, no idea what to use them for tho! And I found a swamp.

I kind of want to start a new world, too.. Just worried about more updates coming soon that would make me want to start again lolol, and the food thing... I've never made food on minecraft o-o;;

And I tried the game on easy earlier and all the monsters made me unable to do anything at night time cuz I was scared  So back to peaceful it is...
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: Deft-Monkey on September 24, 2011, 10:22:51 AM
^ Yeah, monsters are scary but it does add to the thrill, I guess. Nevertheless, I'm starting out on peaceful, because I'm not in the mood to get blown up by surprise.

My new world is cool!!! I couldn't find trees for about 5 minutes, which I found odd, but then I was running around, exploring and then suddenly fell down some small hole down an enormous chasm and died  Then I kept going back to try getting my stuff back. It was right next to water, so I let enough water in to make a waterfall that let me get down safely. It's so awesome!! :w00t: I immediately found iron, coal, lava, diamond, redstone and then later gold and lapis lazuli.

I just have one problem now - I have no idea how to get out so I can get some more wood  :sweatdrop:
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: jaysonnj on September 28, 2011, 01:14:51 AM
So I just bought Minecraft a few days ago. I seriously don't know why I waited so long to start playing.

This has been a common occurrence for me:
Wandering aimlessly around my world, when I fall in to a deep canyon, somehow survive and discover a bunch of gold and diamonds. Then trying to find my way out, a creeper comes up and blasts me. After being respawned, I try to find my way back but become completely lost.

This has happened to me a couple of times. I get so frustrated that I usually say fuck it and end up deleting the world to start a new one.

Do you guys still get on the server? Would love to join up if someone could PM me the info.
Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: zoolander on September 28, 2011, 05:29:37 AM
That is a common occurrence for everyone. :( For me I can usually manage the monsters without too much trouble (iron armor will protect you from a few explosions from those sneaky bastards), but lava gets me once in a while. As far as finding the way back I'll periodically put landmarks as I go along if I feel like I'm getting confused. Signs, wooden structures, torches set up in patterns ect. I'll also block off already explored paths or mark them with a sign. Once you have made your way from the top to bottom a couple times you start to remember the way.

You are also gonna want to make a bed to re-set the spawn point once you have found a good location where you want to settle down. Helps a lot should you happen to die.

Anyway I made yet another world for 1.9 and found a massive cave system, found all these goodies (was spelunking for like 3 hours or so o_o)

Now to make a house... got enough cobble to make a lot of stone brick for that. I'd like to get back to playing on the server but I can't log in to my minecraft account for some reason... I guess I might just have to delete minecraft.jar and re download minecraft.exe. I also kinda want to see all the new features and the JPHIP map is pretty much explored already.

I've started new single player worlds since the update :D Loving it... I haven't lost a single food bar since I started playing, so there was no reason to worry about the new food updates

I think in my current world I want to get to know the areas well before I move further; it will make me love the world more, I think. Because in my creativity mode game, I flew around and saw this and that but couldn't decide on a single place to start building. So I feel that to me it's better to just start ANYWHERE, and then... move further later. Establish a proper home/town, not just some lame wood shack lol.

Hunger isn't so bad. Now that I know how to make a farm I just carry a couple stacks of bread and munch when need be. :3

I've been working on the server here and there, building a village/castle that I had smelted bricks for a long time ago. I left a stack of bread and apples in the chest by spawn if anyone needs food as well as some spare iron and diamonds. I also did see pika's snow farm, didn't know such a thing was possible. :P The golems did freak me out a bit at first since I hadn't seen one before....

LOL last night I tried messing with the gates some more to try and get the gates to link up with the one at the top of the tower, but I think I just messed things up even more XDDDDD

.....now there's a portal gate, floating in the sky, above the sea, near the tower, but it still links to the gate under my house XDD will need to try to screw around some more to fix all this D:

Maybe it's just not working because the portal is above the old height limit, i don't even know

Title: Re: Minecraft
Post by: U.S.S. John E. Badass on May 03, 2012, 09:15:37 PM
There's definitely something screwy with the portals. The one I spotted on the map far to the west and the one I built under my lighthouse both link to the same portal in the nether as the one hovering over the sea. Must be bugged for a change.

Also, I made a simple boat storage platform under that portal because I never want to swim again. Feel free to tear it down if you want to build something there.

And I wanted the excuse to screenshot my first building since, uh, some time before hunger, even though I don't know what to do with the interior yet. I wanted a landmark so I'd get lost less while shearing sheep. Of course by the time I had enough wool to build it, I knew the terrain within draw distance well enough not to need it. So it goes.

That's great!! I wondered what you were doing, good stuff as always.

With the gates, yeah, they're pretty screwed up, the main problem is there's like 3 gates close together in the nether and that's mixing it all up, I tried fixing it with the tower portal but it's still not working entirely.

normally when I make gates I go to the nether first, try to get as close as I can to the co-ordinates in the real world (1/8th)
then I can nearly always come out at where I want the gate to be.

But, there's 3 main problems right now, the first is the number of gates in close proximity to each other, the second, and the reason why space's gates aren't working is because where they should come out in the nether, there is lava, so it moves to the next gate in the nether, so that's why.
The third is old mines, caverns, strongholds, there is a LOT of them in the area where we're making gates, so when I make a portal in the nether I end up coming out underground often, which sucks, lol.

I can work on this and try to fix it for you, though, I have a gate to the snow biome nearby that I was using that I can get rid of to try and stop the interference.

If you guys remember in the old server I had like a loop of dirt floating over the lava? that was because so many of the gates needed to be built above lava and when making gates in the real world, everything would screw up when coming out in the nether.

.. I know it's complicated and annoying, haha. I'll try fixing things!
