Maybe it's time for them to try something different for once instead of generic idol song.
It would be interesting to hear the live version of this song, how the fans will cheer along to the song.
From the sound of it, the PV should have some crazy dance move (chance for Ruka to shine).
Clearly they are taking advantage of recent KPOP boom in Japan though...

If they are doing a song like this, they are coming in second. They shouldn't follow trends, but make trends! Be creative!

personally I don't think its a real problem since Idoling!!! is a group that dare to venture into all sort of genres anyways.
I'm still on the fence about this song, but the fact that they are willing to explore things up yet again is great. Even if I end up not liking this song, I'm sure the B-side is going to be awesome. It always does..

It's an interesting sound, I like it (but I'm also very open-minded in terms of music genre). I actually think it's cool that it's actually produced by koreans (which could be used for publicity).
They could even release this single in Korea too maybe, one step closer to international fame :D
But indeed,Idoling B-sides are always awesome (and different) as well.
And it's not like this is a 'new direction' since Idoling try out any genre of music.
I'm guessing Ruka will like this,I hope she gets a nice dancing part ;)

I agree with kei_86... The best way to look at this is as just another genre or musical style to add to Idoling!!!'s library. If you look at Idoling!!!'s library of songs (including Shoujo Fuantei), the list of genres is quite incredible for an idol group. They are, hands-down, the most versatile idol group out there. This is one of Idoling!!!'s best aspects. Fans should be proud of it.
Now, I know this same versatility also brings a lot of unpredictability with the group's music. But personally, I really enjoy not having any idea of what Idoling!!! is gonna come out with next. I love hearing a new song and thinking, "This is Idoling!!!?" And they've been making me think that a lot recently.
To be completely honest, my favorite Idoling!!! songs in recent times have been the non-idolish songs... I mean, I love eve and Poolside Daisakusen, and Me ni wa Aoba is an incredible song to hear live, but I've been listening to the more "mainstream-sounding" songs recently. I absolutely love StarGirl★StarBoy and GO EAST!!! GO WEST!!! SGSB has those cool rapping parts, and GEGW is a great pop-ish dance tune. GEGW has already gotten the highest play count in my iTunes library, finally overtaking Shuchishin. :lol:
Now, I've never really been a fan of K-Pop. But, I've come to the realization that it's not necessarily because of the music... I actually find a lot of their tunes pretty catchy, and they get stuck in my head a lot. It's really the artists themselves and their fans that I don't really care for very much. I hate the arrogance that comes from that scene. I anticipate a lot of hate to come from K-Pop fans because of Queen Bee, especially when Idoling!!! performs it live... Ugh, I can just see the K-Pop fans nitpicking the Idoling!!! members' singing and dancing. :panic:
But, on the same note, this is a great opportunity for Idoling!!! to earn a bit of respect from the haters. If they can pull this off reasonably well, then they may actually grab a few more fans. So, I hope they bring out the decent singing and cool choreography that we all know this group is capable of. :twothumbs
But, bottom line for me: catchy K-Pop dance tune - arrogant artists and fans + Idoling!!! = WIN! :)
I can't wait to hear this whole song and see them perform it.

It is the B-side song I think, the new single will have 3 songs, this one, the A-side and the duo project song with Asahi and Kaoru.
As far as this song goes, Idoling does many style of music so I really have no qualms about it but to me the best representation of their talent is best showcased in genki songs and ballads. This particular song just seems like not Idoling's true color but an imitation.

Just happen to have looked Yoiko up because they are guests in ep #710, and that's the comedy duo from Gamecenter CX (which is also produced by Kadosawa).
I haven't seen the episode yet (it's downloading at the moment), so I don't know what they are doing on the show, maybe it has something to do with this song. Will let you know later.

As much as I hate the extra-track-on-regular-edition strategy, this actually isn't the first time Idoling!!! has done this... The regular edition of Kokuhaku had Moteki no Uta ~season1.5~, which was not included on the limited edition. I'm just glad they're not doing 2 different DVDs, so I don't have to get all 3. :lol:

Queen Bee is the coupling track, right? People can calm down then XD
Even if it's the A side, i can't complain because it could actually broaden their audience, they could always comeback to their 'usual' sound in the next singles anyway :P

I'm a k-pop hater, but I'm not hearing the k-pop in Queen Bee. It kind of seems like ever since that fad started a few months ago any j-pop song that has a beat or doesn't sound like a cliche anime song is all of a sudden "k-pop". As long as they continue their streak of selling a little more with each single, I don't care if they bust out a ska/gangsta rap/euro beat/new age/new wave/spoken word/gospel/straightedge hardcore/glam rock/ tribal music song.
As always I'm ordering from CDJ just for the poster.

Love it. Upbeat tune, catchy chorus and great lyrics too. Sounds a bit like an anime song :)
Best single since Mujouken Koufuku in my opinion. Now to wait for the PV which shouldn't be too long.

The style of music I like, but it just sounds so generic...too plain...yes it does sound like thousand other anime songs that I've heard before. I wasn't too thrilled with Eve but as a whole single I would say Eve is better than this. I have yet to hear Asahi & Kaoru duo's song but even if it was a great song, overall this single is a bit underwhelming.

Good anime song is never bad in my book. It is definitely a lot catchier than the last 3-4 singles. I just hope they come up with a killer PV for it which will make it so that much better.

I would say poolside is better for upbeat single. Still eve is the best for the last 4 single.

And yeah, i think that's not a wise decision..i mean, meniwaaoba, poolside, eve, and all singles after 2009 have that distinct Idoling sound. Why ruin it? that kinda bugs me. :sweatdrop:

It seems like the producer of Idoling wants to steer the group towards becoming AKB-lookalikes rather than being themselves. One of the things that I liked about Idoling is their distinct, high quality songs and if that is ruined for the sake of popularity it'll be a very sad moment. I don't think Japan is big enough to support two top female idol groups side by side anyhow, as long as AKB is at the top, all Idoling really can do is be themselves. Getting caught up in the AKB-hype is the last thing they should pursue. OMG I'm going to shoot myself if there comes a time where Idoling sings super-corny songs like AKB's Heavy Rotation.

From the first listen, I immediately thought AKB as well due to five things:
1) Constant thumping bass on the quarters, common in pop music, I guess.
2) Tempo
3) Overprocessed "wall-of-voices" mix, absence of solos
4) Bittersweet chorus progressions*** (probably the most important point for me)
5) Instrumentation, sparkley, synth string overkill!
The coupling track (粉雪が舞う街並みで) sounds like Rick Astley; somehow getting Rick-Rolled by Idoling!!! feels okay.
I'm hoping the 4th album has some sick original tracks.

I can't even tell who is singing what in Yarakai Heart, I think that is the biggest letdown, and not necessarily anything to do with the song itself. I guess that's how AKB vocals sounds like, I think Idoling should emphasize their vocal strength in their songs like they have been doing, otherwise they would be losing one of their identities.
Putting in Korean lyrics into Queen Bee seems like a bad move, I can't really see the fans in Japan liking that. It's just a B-side song though so shouldn't be too much of an issue.
The other B-side executes a little better in terms of solo vocals, but it does sound generic as well, as soon as I heard it the first time it reminded me of a Zard song.
Overall, this single is a very weak effort, there's usually at least one song in a single I tend to like, but this time, there's none. I think Idoling is seriously having an identity crisis, and steering off course by mimicking AKB too much.

Well even though いち恋 sounds a bit raw and not as polished like A-side songs, I think it's very catchy and a nice upbeat song. I think I like this song over any other song from this single. I was worried that Asahi and Kaoru may struggle with the vocals, but they pulled it off nicely by singing it in a casual way rather than trying to sing to impress. My impression on the A-side has improved vastly after watching the PV, hopefully this single will jump-start the popularity of Idoling!!! at last.

I just hope this helps Asahi learn how to project more live; it'd be a shame to hear this live and have half of the solo lines be inaudible.

This is such a solid single, leonn is an absolute genius! :D I didn't know he actually wrote the lyrics for all of the songs.
Yarakai Heart is definitely the weakest title, but it's very appropriate as the A-side. As for the couplings いち恋 has the upper hand for me because of the lyrics and the overall Gakuran setting. It's like listening to a more poppy version of Kishidan. Really now, leonn is a genius. :lol: Queen Bee is pretty fucking sexy, and I sure hope they keep the K-Pop trend for the choreography as well, they just have to. Konayuki speaks for itself, or the Maipuru solo for that matter.
In short, Idoling!!! now have four more brilliant songs added to their discography.

I like the song quite a bit actually. If anything, the girls look great in the costumes! Especially like Maipuru, Ai & Kaede.
This reminds me, I have been putting off buying the single for a while. Need to go order one and do my part to boost up the sale:)

And I got Fonchi, Umeko & Manami. There were supposed to be 3 (all the same) posters with it, but I got 2x Yarakai Heart poster and 1x an alan poster by mistake even though the wrapping said Idoling!!! :lol:

About Yarakai Hearts, I don't really like the song but since its really similar to AKB song I can already see that all the wotagei for this song will be very AKBesque. That could be kind of fun, because I don't think there's any Idoling!!! song before this that have the part for the 2nd MIX of "mou ikkai ikkuzo!" and Yarakai Hearts obviously screams for it. Just have to see what kind of chanting will come out for this song.

I think it's just because the release day of this single is so close to the 4th album, i think many of the fans should wait for the album instead of buy this single(I'm the one of them) XD

I thought about the album release date being close as a possible explanation in drop of single sales, but I don't think that is the case because the increase in single sales lately has been because of the hand-shake event, and album sales #s usually are far less than single sales. I think some fans have dropped out and shifted over to AKB world because god forbid if they are left out of the pop culture trend that has become mainstream and risk the chance of ending up feeling like they are a bunch of social outcasts or something by sticking with Idoling.
It just seems like Idoling is not picking up new fans, especially in the younger age group for some reason, maybe the exposure just isn't good enough, and obviously there's the AKB factor as well. I think AKB in a way is slowly killing the idol industry with over-domination, sooner or later most people will get tired of AKB stuff and move on, but when that happens it'll take a while before the idol industry gets its cred back because when you take away the insane popularity factor of AKB, the quality of music has been pretty much crap since 10nen zakura. I did check out the latest single Sakura no kini narou and my god if you ever need a good dose of sleep out of boredom go ahead and listen to that single, it's the most mundane single ever by AKB. Ok I sound like a hater now but I really am not, I don't really care one way or the other about AKB, but when they are so dominant (why? I have no clue), that their crap music being disguised and ignored by popularity affects the whole idol industry in a negative way and Idoling, they just rub me the wrong way.
The corporate tie-ups just doesn't matter much I guess when it comes to single sales of idol groups, there's very little market for Idoling to expand because of AKB's stronghold on mainstream consciousness. But if Idoling manages to appear more on primetime tv shows like Music Station and Heyx3 somehow the increase in exposure in such context should yield the best immediate results. Doing Shinahachi live every weekend just to cater to the hard-core fans won't get them anywhere anytime soon. Their TV show is also rather insignificant because it's not a national broadcast, and CS is not free. The weekly late night version simply doesn't make a dent.
I really thought Yarakai Heart was Idoling's time to make a move but apparently it's not happening, and it just seems like a hopeless dream at this point that Idoling will ever arrive in the mainstream, but I'm going to keep my hopes alive and believe that their next single will come through at last.
BTW, anybody buy their Idoling stuff at HMV, and if so, what does their clear file bonus item look like? Is it worth getting?

maybe rumor about Serina having boyfriend is one of the factor, though most hardcore Idolinger actually doesn't matter about it.
also count that full Yarakai Heart PV was not airing until the release date (damn Fuji TV).
seeing from Twitter timeline, actually there is a sudden increase of popularity for their TV show. their weekly show had over 8% rating a few times, even reached 12% when the show delayed for 1 hour (weekly show is airing the same time as anime LEVEL E, was K-ON! before it.)
btw, March 14 will be the last day for Nabeachi show.

They also changed the ticketing system for Shinahachi from a first come first serve basis to a lucky draw system in order to attract new fans.
Hopefully now it will be easier for others to get the tickets instead of the same hardcore fans going to every live which makes the fanbase won't grow any bigger.

Ichikoi sounds like more pop version of Fudanjyuku. Gocchan pure voice is just lovely :inlove:
It's good but I'm just tired with "wo o o o o" which reminds me of RIVER (the only AKB song stayed on my PC for more than 2 weeks).
Queen Bee is surprisingly good even though I don't like K-POP. Ruri's voice is just too great :inlove:
Konayuki ga mau machinami de is well directed. Starts with Ton-chan (who's good for ballad song) then give the focus to Ruri towards the end (who can reach the highest note smoothly) and give the solo line to Maipuru. Still, I converted from weird Visual-kei music style so I need more BPM.
Yarakai Heart is probably my best choice. I can feel a few touch of AKB style but if you can keep the image of their choreography inside your head while listening, this song is perfect. I don't like the PV though. Just imagine their lipsync performance on Taiwan tv show.

It's an enjoyable single, better than 'EVE' i must say.

Times, styles and karaoke are ready, i need only a good DVDRip of the PV (HD 1280x720) because M-on version has a CQ (crap Quality) , and 1 good Encoder.

its not correct, dvd version has a better quality than M-on vr. if u will make a rip in 720p i will send u the script of karaoke. because im bad encoder.

Edit:I just watched the pv and jacket making video and couldn't believe it when Yuna kissed Kaoru on the cheek.
Anyone else love Suu-Chan's, I believe it is a monkey, impression on Amimi's phone. Thought it was very appropriate for Shinkenyellow.
