The owners of Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches at the busy intersection of South Pine Avenue and Southwest 17th Street say their two-month-old business is getting creamed because passers-by have mistaken their white-hooded ice cream cone mascot for a KKK protester. Should've made the costume chocolate or strawberry instead of vanilla. :P

The clientele, she said, melted away right after the mascot hit the street. Indeed, just before lunch Monday, there wasn't a soul in the store except for a handful of employees.
And now they got some free publicity that could lead to increased patronage on top of their regular customers.
It sucks that racism is still such an issue that this mix-up would happen, but for people to instantly freak out and not even take a second look if they're that shocked by the possibiliy of a Klan member? Sheesh. :smhid Thankfully it's just a small city in an isolated part of Florida--something to keep in mind in case people wanna freak out about "teh downfall of society™" based on this (like with what's going on in the article comments).
