Post by: shurastriker on November 25, 2011, 07:42:32 PM: aka the Yui Koike group... well obviously many know here but not so many know about he doing music (is all good music imo)

They started in 2009 as a duo with members Kanaki Jyun (now former member) and Koike Yui as a duo but in the same year Jyun retires and so 2 more girls are added, Kusano Hinako and Wada Erika, to form a trio... so at first they only did live shows and some hard promotion on the webs and so they gained popularity and started to appear in radio shows as guests and more important venues like the Tokio Idol Festival 2010.

One interesting part about this group is that the girls can do their own works as models or actress (Yui Koike is the best example)

So now they are part of Sony music and alraedy released some singles under they wing. Their last one was selected as ending theme for teh anime Beelzebuh

Aside from announcing an album for August 1, it also says something about two singles in May and June. So at least until four days ago, everything seemed to be on track - they even gave the title for the May single as 「踊れカルナヴァル」 (Odore Carnival).

But who knows? Maybe something happened behind the scenes at the last minute and the dates for everything have changed?

I doubt the May single is completely scrapped, though. CDJapan will probably just relist it with a different catalog number once everything is sorted out.

Saw a link from the tomato n'pine twitter this morning for a Ustream and I guess their single Odore Carnaval is still on. The Ustream was showing some of the filming for the MV. I hope the single will still be released, hopefully soon. :twothumbs

That's the Sony music site that only sells ATRAC, right? :P

I'm glad the single is still on, though. The sudden cancellation along with no updates had me worried that something super dramatic happened behind the scenes and that Tomapai would, like, have another line-up change or something. :S

I'd thought because of the way it was rendered in kanji it might be "carnivale" or something but I guess not. 8)

I kind of hope that none of the other b-sides make it onto the album so that there'll be more new tracks but I guess it won't be too bad if there are more b-sides since some of them are pretty good. 8)

Post by: initial on September 10, 2012, 02:27:20 PM: not gloating but I just received my tomato n'pine PS4U cd-dvd, with poster (that part was gloating) from cdjapan and I don't know what to say about it.
I've been a tomapai fan since the first low-release single I randomly found on YouTube. Then I began to follow them on a show called Idol-Chin I only watched because of Fudanjuku.
After the numerous singles, which I also bought, this album just feels like a compilation album.
Maybe after watching many of their live shows on YouTube it doesn't feel new to me.
But that's not to say I didn't fan-boy like some tween when I got my package and played the album, I did and with no regret but...nothing new. I hope these girls continue with this unit and do more, gain more exposure and become a great trio.

YUI, WADA, HINA, thank you.

From what I understand, "season 1" was when the group was a duo consisting of Yui and Jun Kanaki, so season 2 would be the current line-up of Yui, Wada, and Hina.

Google translate isn't very helpful but it doesn't look like there will be a season 3 of Tomapai - or if there is, it won't have any of the "old" members since the announcement says that each of the girls is "going towards a new stage in 2013." :/

I'm sad about this but also not entirely surprised because, for an idol group, Tomapai wasn't very active with their releases. They did do a lot of live events, but for a group that's been together since May 2010 to only have 4 singles and 1 album... yeah, no big surprise they're calling it quits. :(

I really love this Unit. Every photobook, every single, CD-DVD combo. And now it's quits. Yep. That's how it goes. I had really hoped they could've gotten more exposure. :cry:
