Secret Santa is a Western holiday tradition in which members of a group are randomly assigned other members to whom they anonymously give a gift. Often practiced in workplaces, or amongst large families, participation in it is usually voluntary. It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost to those involved.

It's getting to be that time again! Much like the last Secret Santa, the idea is to deliver your drawee some delicious candy, preferrably something native to your country/area. If you're not into candy for some reason, let em know in your wishlist what would be more suitable for you. The general spending limit is $5, but do keep in mind shipping may very well raise the total to $10-15.

If that's too much to swing, or you hate candy, then sign up for the Secret Santa Penpal instead! The idea is to send a handmade Christmas card (or letter, if they don't celebrate xmas). No store bought Hallmark junk here!

Signup Deadline: December 10 - I will draw names at the end of the day, Elfster will in turn send you an email with information on the person you drew. Please only sign-up if you intend to participate, and withdraw if circumstances change.

Please, add your mailing address to Elfster. If they forgot to list mailing info or add in any wishes, you can attempt to ask them questions through Elfster, or (better) ask myself or another moderator to try and prod them for information.
Please, add your JPHiP username to Elfster. - Not everyone is pals on Facebook!
Please, only sign up if you intend to send something. - To this end, you must have 100 posts (or special permission) to take part.

Elfster (the site that is managing the exchange for us), has various privacy features. You address will only be shown to the person that draws you. If you are uncomfortable with certain people possibly having your information, PM me with a list of restrictions you would like for who can draw you, and I'll take care of it.

I want to be a Secret Santa!

.... but keep in mind that Norway is very expensive, so I won't be able to ship much stuff with this spending limit :/ (we do have the best chocolate in the world, though)

I'm in for the penpal thing! Even tho I'm still a bit sad I didn't get anything from my summer penpal :/ I hope this time I'll receive something too~ I'll sign up on Elfster when I get back home.

EDIT: Thought about this again and decided not to participate... I don't want more stuff to think and stress about Y_Y Have fun guys.

OH! I should add that I'm allergic to peanuts and hazelnuts, so if I happen to get candy with said nuts in 'em then I'm giving them right to almond. XD

Mailed mine today too. I will say this though, I'm gonna say the penpal and the secret santa gift won't make it to their destinations in time before Christmas. The postal service is getting crazy apparently so if my penpals feel like they're not getting one then keep the faith! It should come eventually! XD

I actually meant to include a whole note about how Lohengrin is the classiest of our classic chocolate bars. It was designed by the architect behind Oslo National Theatre and a bunch of other pretty buildings in Oslo. It was first sold at the Norwegian Opera when they performed the Wagner opera by the same name. Classy stufffff.

So today at work, the mailman oddly came back like 2 hours after he delivered and handed me a box. I saw my name and wondered "wtf did I order that would be this size...?"

Then I flipped over and saw the name on the return address!

So I had a really good day today. I saw Tintin with a friend I haven't seen in more than half a year. I was meant to have my passport interview, but then it looked like I wouldn't be able to until Monday, but I was then saved by my local post office, which let me have my interview and submit my application on the spot.

To top it all off, however, was this (not to mention my roleplaying dice set which also arrived today):

The line at the post office was literally out the door.

I was about to give up when the kindly postal lady said she would just take it and scan the customs forms since I had already paid for postage at work.

You should receive it in a week or so.

Came home today to find a USPS package had arrived. Probably due to my slight mental fatigue after having dealt with around 150 or so students today, but when I first saw it, I was totally :pig huh:.

At first I thought to myself "Ah, the thing I ordered is here." :)

But then I realized..."Wait, I haven't ordered/bought anything online in a long time."
