From 11.12.23 Iitomo, on the topic of Sasshi, Aki-P mentioned in passing that even though Sasshi's so popular nowadays, if you take a look at the PV for the single to be released in February, she's barely shown in it.

Sae is the only media senbatsu member who was dropped. :O2 Also, no Suuchan at all?

But where are all the lovely undergirls. :| I don't know, it seems like the more they include girls from sister groups, the more less known AKB girls suffer from it. The actual senbatsu is the same.

lol, that New Ship line-up must be a logistical nightmare  :lol:

The real line-up is looking tons better than the rumored one, so I'm happy.  :thumbup
Lol yeah, I don't really care about the girls from the sister groups joining in. That's just the way it is and has been since Oogoe Diamond. Let's see what they got!

I'm sorta sad Morikawa Ayaka didn't make it in. This could mean she's less likely to get a Team 4 spot.

This is why you never leave the warm comfort of JPHiP :cokecat:

FUCK YES THOSE LINEUPS ARE BITCHIN'. I love the group crossovers. They do TV, concert, and more together, shouldn't leave us hanging without shuffled singles too. If they never shuffled, then people would get up in arms about the lack thereof.

Can't wait to see what the JKT girl brings to the table. Mayu & Yui & Rie (with Jay/Churi) in GMF and Undergirls B together? YES! No Aamin though, which is kinda a downer.

edit: GMF sounds pretty nice from the preview. Nothing too shocking, but it's a nice energetic song, compared to the previous Sakura songs.

Actually Tano Yuuka is included in NEW SHIP line-up as well but her name is missing from the translation.


Still extremely bummed that they put basically all senbatsu members except for Sayanee on B-sides over 26 other AKB48 girls. Hmph. :catglare: Well, maybe theater version has a surprise for us?

Well, those are hardly 'Undergirl' line ups are they?

My decision for purchase is usually based on which version has my favourite Undergirls in... guess I won't be pre-ordering this time... i'll get it cheaper on eBay as I don't care which version I get now.

Wow .. this is the most positive forum I've been on regarding this single's line up ... almost everyone here seems to see the line up positively.

I like to have a DVD version, and my decision is usually based on which one Harugon (you're right ;) ) is in, so I'll wait and see which backup song I like the best. Guess I got spoiled with the superb Dakishimechaikenai on Flying Get .... Wonderful!!

Holy Crap!  I didn't see this coming!  That was fricken awesome! :D  Actually, I know I throw the word 'awesome' around a lot so I'll say that it was fricken ultra awesome!! :D XD

I'd never in my wildest dreams expected to see any of the girls playing an instrument in relation to one of their singles, let alone having a load of them doing it.  And mad respect to the girls for learning that.  They did sound fairly amateur (I'm not hating so please don't flame me for saying that), but I don't think that matters in this case.  To me this is more about breaking away from the usual and the energy in their performance.

I'm also hella curious as to whether any of the girls had prior experience with their instruments (other than Yuko cause I know that she's played bass before).

Oh, and please, please let there be a live band version PV or something like that.

Yuko's played bass, Rena's played trumpet, and Sasshi's played trombone.

Yukirin plays trombone, Mayu plays euphonium, Yui plays drums, and Sayanee was lead guitarist in this kick-ass band Mad Catz, so I'm a little disappointed that we missed out on some really crazy stuff, even if I wouldn't trade guitarist!Takamina for the world. (Although lol, the guitars were pretty horrible. The sound guy was doing his best to mute them.)

I think it's a Gretch - Electromatic Collection - Jet model

But they don't offer one which has the exact same specs, so it's probably an older model... Spec-wise, this is probably the closest:

Only the color (obviously) and inlays are different. ...and there's an extra knob on the lower horn. Crap, I can't find the exact model :/


Takamina's is a Fender Mustang (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?bodyShape=Mustang%C2%AE&section=guitars), but again, there are some specs on it that make it stand out. Most notably the matching headstock and racing stripe.

It's probably a Japanese made Mustang (re-issue?) in Competition Red (w/cream stripes):

About the characters, they used other surnames... it looks like will be this:  :O

Atsuko Ogata (Atsuko Maeda): Her parents are divorced. His father is an alcoholic so Atsuko nececidades was working on a part-time job to help with household expenses.
Minami Ichikawa (Takahashi Minami): A troublemaker INCAP to finish anything he starts. currently working on the construction.
Yuki Kobayashi (Kashiwagi Yuki): Victim of "Bulling" small, brings carrying that trauma ever since.
Yuko Osawa (Oshima Yuko): Due to the debts of his family is forced to work as a prostitute to pay off debts. He hates himself and the world for them.

I love the PV.  It's a bit more simpler than some, but that's totally understandable considering we now know that there's gonna be a much longer version.  But it still rocks cause as most of us had hoped for, it has the girls playing their instruments.  I like that it's also interspersed with little moments of the lives of the girls characters for this.

Just a bit of personal preference but the subject matter sounds a little heavy for my tastes.  I generally don't like my idol stuff to be quite so sombre.  I'd have preferred a slightly lighter story but thats just me being picky.  Overall I'm really looking foward to seeing what this delivers :)

Apparently GIVE ME FIVE is supposedly plagiarized from the song "Minami Kaze no March" by Watariguchi Tomonori. Tomonori's said to have filed a complaint about this, but AKB48 staff hasn't commented on the matter.

Sayanee also posted on G+ about Give Me Five instrument rehearsals, especially for the brass section, and since she's not in instruments for the senbatsu version it looks like something's going on.

I've always loved AKB's ballads, and this SGB is no exception. :thumbup It doesn't evoke the same (tear-jerking) feeling as Gondola Lift, but it does possess that melancholic touch of a sakura song, like Sakura no ki ni narou and somewhat like Seishun to kizunakanai mama.

Now I'm hoping for an equally beautiful PV to accompany this.  :heart:

Mocchi in Akicha's place

I guess it's understandable why Rena and Sasshi didn't get any subs. A single trumpet and trombone can cover it, though the sound kinda gets overpowered in the song. So aside from Rena and Sasshi, they shuffled the back-ups and the percussions a bit.

It may have been partially live - like they put in the recorded brass for the missing girls' parts. Or they may have used recorded parts for when they effed up XD

What is that SGB PV?!  :shocked Someone please explain it to me because I've been looping it for a while now and I still can't figure it out past the fact that Yuki, Rena and Haruna were leading some kind of mystical ceremony with their subjects in an effort to revive their fellow priestess Mayu.

Hella weird and creepy with the way they 'died' after the candle blowing, but it's so pretty~

I can't, for the life of me, really figure out the PV for Hitsujikai no Tabi too! All I know is that the girls look gorgeous and I'm seeing hints of MaYuki littered all over the PV ♥♥

Mayu was revived but she lay down to rest again at the end. I think the PV is suggesting that life is a neverending cycle of ups and downs. Either that or someone/something is always sacrificed for someone else's happiness. After Mayu "died" at the beginning, the girls in white were revived. And after Mayu was revived, a couple of the girls in white tried to chase after those in black as if knowing something bad will happen to them once Mayu is alive again. Yui, Akicha and KitaRie attempted to give life to the bare tree but it only bloomed after the girls in white and Rena and Haruna "died" and Mayu transferred their lives to the tree. As Mayu walked to the stone bed at the end to "die" a second time, the rest of the girls were revived. Basically, the PV seems to suggest that there has to be a constant balance of good and bad things in this world. As for Yuki's role, I'm just guessing that she's God or something :lol:

My theory is full of loopholes and is probably wrong in many ways but that's what I managed to gather. Plus, trying to figure it out is so much fun. I have a love-hate relationship with such PVs. I hate it that I don't fully understand the PV yet at the same time, I love it for leaving the story/message open to our imagination.

Anyway, I'm now glad that Mayu and Yuki were left out of Selection 6 because I'm so loving Hitsujikai no Tabi over Sweet & Bitter.

Hitsujikai no Tabi PV made my day just for the millisecond flash of Haa-chan's face near the end.
And yes, about a total of five seconds of Kasai, and two of Yuka.

I actually wonder if this is a bit of an allusion to Christianity, not only because I see some crosses in the background, but also because of how they used the concept of a 'shepherd'. Yuki is obviously playing a higher being here (god). Right under her are Mayu, Rena and Haruna. Then after them there's Akicha, Rie and Yui (they're evidently following senbatsu rankings here, except for Yui who jumped over Sae, Tomomi, Micchan, Amina and Sayaka).

We have Mayu, Rena and Haruna acting as shepherds to the rest of the group. Miichan and Churi tries to go after Yuki and the rest as they presumably leave to do their thing, but are stopped because it's something that they (the black-robed ones) must do. I'm assuming that thing was Mayu, Rena and Haruna sacrificing themselves in order to revive the dead tree. The way I interpret that scene where Umechan opened the book to let the pages fly was that they were letting their prayers reach Yuki. Yuki answers by reading the page and the tree is revived, but at the cost of 3 of her shepherds (and one of them was her favorite :( ). In the end, Yuki leads her flock with her remaining shepherds and they advance forward into the horizon.

tl;dr - leading a pack of 200+ girls is not a walk in the park. great sacrifices are made left and right.

Superficial thoughts:
- Mayu looks beautiful without the twin tails. It suits her really well.
- The PV is like 40% Yuki, 30% Mayu, Rena, Haruna, 15% group shot, 10% mid to lower senbatsu, 5% close-ups of UG.
- Everyone, and I mean everyone, is so beautiful in this PV.  :heart:  :heart:  :heart:

And this is my favourite part of your theory - MaYuki! :heart: :heart: It makes me sad that Yuki has to sacrifice her favourite but I cheer myself up by telling myself that Yuki is God and can revive Mayu anytime (Rena and Haruna also didn't really "die" as they opened their eyes at the end) XD

I'm surprised you actually understood what I was trying to say, seeing as how I made so little sense now that I re-read what I wrote. :lol: I think I got my theory figured out now, though. Basically, the allusion to Christianity goes like:

Yuki(god) sent her favorite Mayu (Christ) to the people to lead them, with the help of Rena, Haruna, Rie, Akicha, Yui (the apostles). But Mayu, along with her assistants Rena and Haruna needed to sacrifice themselves in order to revive the tree (save the people).

And... yeah, that's my theory. Lol. I wrote so much on my previous post but this is basically what I was getting at. Anyway, like I said, it's just a theory. I hope I'm not offending anyone's religion here. Really, that's not my intention when I drew the comparisons.

We all do that when we try to put our first impression into words. But I like reading lengthy and detailed theories/analyses so what you wrote earlier was very welcome. And I don't think anyone should take offence at what you said. It's near impossible not to associate the PV with Christianity due to the crosses and bible-like book. Plus, it's not like you said anything bad about the religion. I just wonder why AKB48 management would want to produce a PV with a religious theme. Perhaps it's not as sensitive a topic in Japan? *shrugs*

I'm going to watch GIVE ME FIVE PV now too. Hope to see subs (English or Chinese) soon so that I can understand what they are saying!

Okay, I'll admit - I got bored watching the 34-minute PV. I thought it was too much of a montage with voice-overs than a drama (and yes, I consider it a drama because... why else would it be 34 minutes long?). No one had any real speaking lines except for the prof Acchan, Yuko, a bit of Takamina and even less from Yuki. Heck, the prof had the most speaking lines, and most of it he read from a book. :smhid On a different note, I did find a few things interesting/amusing:

- Yuki is good with that wild and/or glassy look in her eyes.  :lol: Is this the reason why she always seems to get the emo role in PVs?
- Sae totally looks like a guy. WTH?! I did a double take when I realized that it wasn't just another male extra sitting in front. 
- Jurina doesn't look out of place at all with the other adults. It's not supposed to happen. She's just 14.  :(
- Everyone looked bored in the last classroom scene. Acchan looks like she's daydreaming, Rena is about to fall asleep, Tomomi is asleep.  :lol:
- Seeing Rena in this made me realize just how much I want to see her in a normal school drama as a playful/naughty student, and not as the emo/loner type (as with every other SKE PV out there) nor as the insane/violent one (a la Gekikara).

That first classroom scene was gold. The shenanigans with the note-passing would be great in an of themselves, but in this drama setting they weren't as exaggerated so it felt real, and I loved it.

Mariko and Jurina in the same class. XD Lol, the age gap between all of these girls being in the same class is so suspension-of-disbelief-breaking.

I think I ship Rena/Sayanee now.  :panic: But completely agree with gekikarabuACE, playful Rena was really fun to watch.

Oh snap, Yukirin can act! Did not see that much eye-acting coming.

Dawwwwww Takamina. GET IT TAKAMINA. <3 Her acting isn't immediately catching me like Yuki's, but like all things Takamina, comes off completely sincere and compelling for it.

The Oshimaeda scene: This is where the 34-minute thing breaks down in execution, because a full drama(or mini-series) would give us episodes of Yuko being peppy to give this mental breakdown more impact. Instead, we've been told not shown that Yuko's the mood-maker of the quartet. Similarly, previous episodes would establish what the OshiMaeda dynamic was like before the band and before the confrontation, so that we could see the changes after.

LOLOLOLOL JURINA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. WITH MARIKO LOLOLOLOL.

Heh, the strings they're using for the teacher's speech are like old PS2 synths. So cheap.

Ah well, don't care as long as Acchan and Jurina continue to wear those leather jackets. :d :d :d

I haven't watched the full drama ver. PV yet. Just started watching the making of tho lol. (holy shiet it's 60 mins long :shocked)

I love the Hitsujikai no tabi PV and the song  :wub: Altough I also don't know what exactly is going on there lol. It actually reminded me of Xena  :lol:

AKB didn't do that at all.

But we can expect a little jump around weekends, when fans try to gather more tickets for national HS events.

This year's election single sales is really going to be interesting. I think it would be the determining factor whether AKB have reached their peak and is now in the plateau.

The additional HS events that i talked about is another 4 individual HS events for SKE48 selection10. In order to enter these events, fans had to buy another set of theatre version CD. So these additional individual HS events caused that second shipment of their theatre version.

edit* To clarify so we could understand the same thing.
For SKE48 latest single, they had announced 3 individual HS events with all SKE48 members first. The sales for those tickets (which come with theatre edition CD) started around December,. I assumed that this set of sales was the ones including in 1st day sale.
Later, they announced another 4 individual HS events with selection10 and started selling in January one week prior release date. I think this set of sales had to ship late and become the sale number adding in Friday sale.

I see that the eng sub version was already posted............

Atsuko Maeda was superb in the lead role....she really has the acting skill........

I did not find it strange that the teacher had his guitar in the class- he probably likes to play when he is on break, and I assume that in 36 years this was not the first time he brought the guitar to class and shared his music with the students.

And yeah, I got a kick out of Mariko and Jurina graduating together from night school.

The way they unleashed this song with a live band perfomance, and then this 34 minute short film is amazing from a promotional standpoint. Management and Talent are really working hard to reach higher and give something to the fans (who in turn are buying AKB48 material at a record breaking pace).

This is definitely live, the tempo is all over the place, starting with Yukirin clicking her sticks way too fast.  XD Really impressed with the brass, although we have the veterans in today to help with the sound. And as expected, huge improved on the guitar solo from the beloved captain.

Lol, I love you Mayu, but that solo artist schedule must be killer, and it showed here. They should probably put up sheet music stands for the keyboards. Euphonium isn't transcribed anyways, so she should be able to read them, and the presence of sheet music can make a HUGE difference in ease of playing.

Loving that they're slowing including more and more girls on instruments and phasing out the staff for the major parts. Hope the trend continues, there's very little that won't instantly boost my bias for a girl than learning that she plays an instrument.

Might just be me, but it's the messiest live version of GMF I've ever heard, imo. I'm not sure if it's because of the added saxophone, or the more complicated bass play, but yeah, it sounds messy to me. The song sounds better in it's simpler form, and I don't think the sax fits in the song. Not only did it completely drown out Rena and Miichan, but it sounded pitchy as well (though I think it's because it's playing in high pitch).

Oh, and half of senbatsu is missing, I think. The entire chorus line is different, lol.

Yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed by the instrumental back up on the performance above....it seemed that they were not supposed to get fancy, but it's the perfect song to let the horns and guitars go for it..........

anyway we have all seen a lot of performances of this song, and maybe this one was already posted, but this clip is beautifully photographed- such as Mayu's eyes just grab the viewer when the camera is on her..........There is something about the girls who are playing difficult instruments (sorry Mariko, tambourine does not count), while singing....the concentration on their faces really brings out beautiful looks.....

^ that was really nice SomethingWild san! The leads were great, but it also shows how important the rhythm guitar
parts are for driving a rock song..........

A few posts back, YKT san posted a version of GIVE ME FIVE! with professionsals backing up the girls, and the comments were
that the band really didn't show any special skills or great solos on the performance (which has now disappeared)

Anyway, saw this on DailyMotion, with thanks for posting going to cakama- Yuko does solo on the singing,
but she is joined by a bunch of rocking musicians from some big time bands, and they put some drive into the performance!
(Please note that the drummer, Shinya Yamada, from Luna Sea, is the husband of
moto Morning Musume member, Aya Ishiguro- they have three kids! Professionaly he is
just referred to as 真矢 / Shinya)
