How in the world can anybody chalk up to USD218 trillion of a phonebill in 4mths? o.O Didn't they think it was fishy when they sent him the bill in the first place? O.o

The entire GDP of the planet earth is less than $60 trillion.

Basically, it would take all the economic activity on the entire planet 4 years to pay that off.

I like how "it wasn't clear whether the bill was a mistake". Using my calculator-fu, I determined that if the line was in constant use for 102 days, that still makes 25 million dollars a second. I don't think the telecom company has much of a case unless they can show that the guy keeled over while phoning his aunt in Alpha Centauri and nobody bothered to hang up when they found the body.
