The 4th Senbatsu Election has been confirmed per tgsk announcement on day 3 of SSA concerts.  The date is the same as previously posted above: June 6, 2012.

Anyone wanna start predicting the outcome?

I guess it's Yuko the number 1... Though now, when Acchan fans has to vote for someone else... Yuki also has some pretty good chances..

I don't think it's too farfeteched for Acchan to stay throught the election, since they haven't released any details. Even if she doesn't, I'm hard pressed to believe Yuko is a shoe-in for #1 again, now.

I wouldn't mind.

Since there's now 64 girls ranking, this makes me pretty tempted to send a vote for Micha and pray to kamisama. Pretty curious how the new system turns out.

It's most likely that she'll have her graduation ceremony (alone, as I'd like to hope) at the Tokyo Dome Concert. If that happens after June 6th, then I think Acchan would still be no. 1. It'll be like a statement coming from her fans. Go out in a blaze of glory and all that jazz. Though that scenario is going to be problematic for the group later on since they have to rearrange everything once she leaves.

Other than that...

Predictions:
- Sasshi for Kami 8? Rena may have a shot as well, though it might not be as strong as Sasshi's.
- Yuihan in Top 16 or media senbatsu (would there be still such a thing as media senbatsu now that it's a four-tiered election? :?)
- Jurina back in media senbatsu
- Sae or Akicha (most probably Akicha) dropping from the media senbatsu line but still within top 16
- Not a prediction, but I'm hoping Akimoto Sayaka keeps her 17th position, in the off-chance that it's the center position for the 2nd tier (17-32)
- Churi and Sayanee sneaking into lower senbatsu

God willing..

The top tier is probably just the new media senbatsu, and so forth. With so many girls now, it's not unreasonable to expand it all.

Anyway, hoping to see Mayu, Yui, and Rino all in the top five, or close to it.

I think the same.
And even if I'm not that much fan of Acchan I her as the image of AKB48 and I comfess that she has the talent and she deserve the number 1 place for the new senbatsu election.
Title: Re: [2012.06.06] The 4th Senbatsu Election

- Maeda Atsuko: If she's part of the election then either the fans will 'invest' in a new girl or they will give her a massive send-off. I think the latter.
- Oshima Yuko: still going strong, definitely top #2.
- Kashiwagi Yuki: I was surprised at her #3 and I don't think she can maintain it. Mayu will overtake her this time. Top #5.
- Shinoda Mariko: I never really understood why she ranks so high all the time, but she'll probably maintain her position. I can see Mayu and Haruna overtaking her.
- Watanabe Mayu: has had an epic year, she'll make top #5 easily.

- Kojima Haruna: still going strong, definitely top #10
- Takahashi Minami: still going strong, might lose a spot to Itano or Sasshi
- Itano Tomomi: very hard to predict... no idea.
- Sashihara Rino: still on fire, definitely #10 again.
- Matsui Rena: I think she'll drop a couple spots. Her heart doesn't seem into it and her serious comments may have rubbed some fans the wrong way. Still #12.

- Miyazawa Sae: haven't seen that much from her at all lately... Her MG role helped her a lot, but that's been a while. She might drop a spot.
- Takajo Aki: haven't seen much from her at all either, but then again, she never really stood out that much but still managed #12.
- Kitahara Rie: to me she doesn't stand out enough and I think she'll drop a bit.
- Matsui Jurina: she'll do fine, I think she'll go up.
- Minegishi Minami: No idea, I'm starting to like her more and more lately, so maybe others will too.

- Kasai Tomomi: she seems to be in a downward spiral... I feel bad for her and I doubt she'll do well this time.
- Akimoto Sayaka: I think she should be able to maintain her top #20 spot.
- Sato Amina: she seems to have her steady share of fans... Top #20 should work.
- Yokoyama Yui: people everywhere are falling for here and she'll go up tons of places.
- Masuda Yuka: plenty of good exposure lately, I think she should be able to go up a spot or two.

This is interesting, if Acchan is not there, most likely it will be Yuko again.
I bet some team 4 members like ranran and paruru will get lower senbatsu position
From SKE, I think Rena, Jurina, Churi and Kimoto Kanon will be chosen as well...
And Sayanee and Milky from NMB

My prediction for top 5:
1. Yuko
2. Yukirin
3. Shinoda
4. Mayuyu
5. Sashihara

- Kashiwagi Yuki: I was surprised at her #3 and I don't think she can maintain it. Mayu will overtake her this time. Top #5.

I don't think Mayu can overtake Yuki.  Yuki has a very strong WOTA following and her HS always sells out 1st round.  I hope Mayu doesn't fall below #5.

If Acchan participates in the election, my prediction for the top 5:
1. Atsuko - She will win by a huge margin over the No.2 girl. Acchan fans will want to send her off in glory.
2. Yuko - Who else can beat this charismatic girl other than Acchan?
3. Yuki - As much as I want Mayuyu to rise and take the 3rd spot, I can't deny the fact that Yukirin seems to have more fans.
4. Mayu - Cyborg Girl has had lots of exposure recently and is proving to be worthy of the push she's getting. I'm sure she wouldn't mind much about losing to Yuki. Those two are too supportive of each other
5. Mariko - I believe she's still hugely popular in Japan so she'll stay in Top 5.

*Takamina may squeeze into the No.5 spot if AKB48 fans decide to show that they will still support the group despite Acchan's graduation by giving their votes to leader Takamina.

If Acchan doesn't participate in the election, my prediction for the top 10:
1. Yuko
2. Yuki
3. Mayu - I really want Mayuyu to get into Top 3 again and I believe she's capable of that.
4. Takamina - Acchan's fans may switch to supporting Takamina who is closest to Acchan.
5. Mariko
6. Sasshi
7. Haruna
8. Tomomi (Itano)
9. Rena
10. Jurina - Everyone can see how hard she's working and how much love she has for her job and SKE48. She should be able to get into Top 10 again.

Another year, another guidebook: CDJapan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOBK-1222905)

If Acchan isn't included, in theory that means there will be 139,892 votes that can be spread out over the other members, thus making the results very unpredictable! Since the past elections were always Acchan VS Yuko, it's likely that a majority of those votes will not go to Yuko. Those Acchan fans might opt for Yuki (or Yui, or someone else) since she's more Acchan's type than Yuko. Who knows what will happen!

It's not far-fetch to think that a portion of those votes will disappear with Acchan, I think. But yea, the ones that won't disappear are fair game. Anyone can get those votes, though they might make their way to the remaining 1st gens (namely Takamina, Kojiharu and Tomochin).

Anyway, I think the crux of matter rests on Acchan's decision to join (or not) in the election. From the purely business perspective, she's almost guaranteed a 1st place finish by joining because fans would ensure that she graduates with a bang, which could hence take AKB's sales record to new heights. On the other hand, Acchan could always take the high road and decline from participating in the event since, you know, she's leaving for the sake of the kouhais. If that's the case, the this year's election would definitely be one to watch out for. The real (and exciting) battle has always been fought in the grounds of the under girls, but this time we really might get to see a shuffle in the higher echelons of AKB which, up until now, have been pretty much predictable.  :thumbsup

Let's use science!

This is the ranking of best sold goods on the 7net AKB shop:

This could be an indication for the results, which would be:

1. Yuki
2. Acchan
2. Mayu
3. Yuko
4. Sasshi
5. Haruna
6. Mariko
7. Takamina
8. Itano

Come on Maeda fans either Sashi or Yui as number one, Oshima Yuko was the only one who showed no emotion when Maeda announced her graduation every one was crying and on the video she just glanced across and turned away what is her middle name Brutus or Judas

^someone mad... I recall Yuko looking visibly upset during the announcement. On the other hand: someone out for blood (http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1njrk3YWU1qerg8so1_500.jpg).

Anyway, I think this election is bullshit. There is almost no way they will keep Acchan out of the election, so honestly she's guaranteed the #1 spot, it's stupid. In a perfect world, Acchan wouldn't be allowed to participate in the election and her 130k+ votes (and that's just from last year, we all know the votes for every placement are going to skyrocket) make for a really interesting and entertaining election...

Irked about it all. I'll have some predictions later.

It will be between Sashi,  Yui or Yukurin for centre they have real personalities and act sensibly they also love the contact with the fans especially Sashi. Oshima is just a clown and there is no way Maeda fans will give their votes to Oshima the way they treated Maeda at the last Senbatsu :cow:

While it's perfectly fine to speculate on the outcome of the forthcoming election, gross speculation on the feelings of members (this thread or anywhere) is nigh unacceptable, and will probably be edited/deleted. The same also applies to derogatory comments regarding any of the OOO48 members.

If Acchan does participate in this election, it's a no-brainer that she'll get #1 but if she doesn't, it's a free-for-all on wherever all those votes will go.

To me, the fun has always been in the middle area. That's where the real shake-ups can happen. :thumbup

I'm hoping Shawako will have a strong position, as well as Churi. I also think we'll see a surge for Suzuran. She was big on Bimyo and I can't seem to click an AKB TV show without seeing her lately. It's bound to help. :) I also hope Sasshi does well that but's pretty much a given now.

To what extent does the release date of certain merchandise have an effect on fan voting?

For example:
- Mayu has had a LOT of exposure these past few weeks; magazine spreads, sabadoll, solo debut, etc. However, what will this exposure be worth? Will the 'casual' fans remember the good times or will they move on to the next big thing? Which in this case will be:
- Kashiwagi Yuki (2nd PB), Itano Tomomi (3rd single) and Sashihara Rino (1st single) --> they will get a massive boost 4-6 weeks prior to the election!

Any thoughts on this?

^ Depends on the girl, I'd say. Yukirin's photobook probably won't do much either way cause she's already out there in the media, but someone like, say, Nakaya Sayaka making an impression via a product, appearance, or whatever could be the difference between her ranking and not ranking. Some of these AKB girls have practically no publicity, and I think that's what hurts them most. The general public just doesn't know who they are, which sucks.

Sasshi and Mayu might receive the greatest benefit, given their recent flood of apps on TV & print, and relatively recent (by election time) solo singles. Mayu also has the forthcoming Warota single on May 30th, which none of the girls from FK/NY subunits have. Mildly disappointing that there isn't another Majisuka Gakuen/dorama pre-election, since some obscure girls get a lot of screen time there. Maybe Bimyo will still make up for that.

obvs yui gonna jump to top 3

Most certainly for me also. Hoping for Suzuran and Aamin to make the climb.

As far as media senbatsu goes, I think Mayuyu should have a good shot at the top considering all the activity she's had. Sashihara could very well be in the 7, pushing out Kojiharu or Takamina. I'd like to see someone else get center. Even though Yuko is my oshi I just wanna see a different girl at the center.

Maeda shouldn't participate, so her fans would have to make the logical choice and give their votes to Maeda.

Same here. From a business perspective, letting the fans decide who the next face of akb will be the best option and will help stabilise future sales.

I predict a win for Yuki Kashiwagi, if we assume formerly diehard Maeda fans prefer her over Oshima-san.

The Yuko fans might go batshit crazy trying to ensure her victory, though.

I predict the Maeda votes will either go to Yuki (trying to prevent a Yuko win through that bizarre rivalry thing they imagined) or to remaining 1st gen members (Takamina, Tomochin, Kojiharu, Miichan and even Mariko).

Regardless, this is gonna be hella interesting.

Also, with 64 spots, how freaking long is the announcement ceremony going to be?!

I just realized I have no idea who to vote for  :panic:

- Rena: Obvious choice, but doesn't really "need" my support to get a good spot
- Yuki: She'll do fine as well, but since there's a slim chance she might get #1 it may be extra fun to vote for her
- Kasai: Out of my favs, she probably needs the vote te hardest... on the other hand, a high under girls spot may be more beneficial than the last senbatsu spot...
- Yui: let the rise begin!
- Underdogs are fun to vote for as well, because each vote is that much more important to them. I mean, for Yuki there's probably little difference between 28000 or 30000 votes, whereas for Shihorin the difference between 1000 and 1200 votes may be crucial.

CHOICES. Have you peepz decided yet?

Let's see, 64 spots available...
・SKE48: Rena, Jurina, Masana, Akarin, Shawako + hoping for Kumi, Anna and Kanon probably have a shot too.. maybe even more = ~8
・NMB48: Sayaka, Milky + maybe Jo? Nana? Ayame? Others?= ~5?
・HKT48: Kodama Haruka for sure and possibly Sugamoto Yuko and Natsumi Matsuoka = ~3

Really rough estimate, but that means 25% of the spots will be filled by 00048, leaving around 48 spots for AKB48...
Actually, that may a bit much, I doubt girls like Sugamoto Yuko and Natsumi Matsuoka can make it. I think the HKT crowd may do what the NMB crowd did last year: focus on one girl to ensure her participation. I'm guessing between 18% & 24% to be taken up by girls from the other groups.

That means around 35~40 girls from AKB48 won't make it in. Must be pretty painful for the non-KKS among them if they don't make it

We talked about the election on a podcast for Selective Hearing the other day, so I was gonna wait to talk about but apparently the file got f'd and can't be used so w/e XD

anyway.

Some of my early predictions:
-#1 goes to someone within the top 5. While not guaranteed, I do see Yuko as the best bet.
-Sashihara cracks top 5.
-Yokoyama cracks top 10.
-Mayu in top 3.
-A lot of movement for Team 4 girls, especially Suzuran, The Lemon, and Paruru.
-Lots of shake ups through the middle.
-Hopefully a nice rise for Maeda Ami :3

How I see the top 10 if it were to happen tomorrow:
01. Oshima Yuko
02. Watanabe Mayu
03. Kashiwagi Yuki
04. Shinoda Mariko
05. Sashihara Rino
06. Itano Tomomi
07. Matsui Rena
08. Yokoyama Yui
09. Kojima Haruna
10. Takahashi Minami

Though 6-10 could easily be shuffled around. Also Kashiwagi and Mariko are interchangeable--one of them is getting 3rd, the other 4th.

I like the one that predicts Mayuyu as 1st and Paruru as 7th.
Last year, I voted for Kasai Tomomi because of the PB promise; but we see how that worked out.   :banghead:

This year I'm deciding between my group Oshimen:

Itano Tomomi - After the results last year, I felt guilty for not voting for my KamiOshi, even though I know my one vote wouldn't have made a difference. Maybe her fans will vote more this year, and she can make a comeback.
Yamamoto Sayaka - Her popularity is on the rise, and I would love to see her in the top group.
Ishida Anna - Her being dropped from SKE Senbatsu is probably a large factor in my relative disinterest in their latest singles. If she gets enough votes to prove she's one of the more popular members, maybe she'll be reinstated.

Maybe the legion of Atsumina shippers will boost Mini into #1?

Going to either vote straight Yui, or shuffle some votes to Ami as well. Not sure if I'll vote for Mayu, because she almost surely has a Top 3 position secured.

I don't believe the idea that the Maeda votes will go to 1st gen members. Some of them, yes, but I don't think they'll automatically favor a 1st gen member.

I'm a very vocal Team B and Yuki oshi so my judgement when it comes to them isn't reliable  but when I look at the most obvious choices for center I can't help but thinking Mayu or Yuki would be the best choices. I don't know if Mayu is versatile enough but Yuki definitely is. Plus, I think it would be good if someone from another Team became the new center.

My predicting sucks. So I'm not even going to try. :P

But seeing the past few years, senbatsu has had a pretty big impact on the group.
1st Confirmed Acchan as the cover girl of AKB.
2nd Gave Yuko her chance, Hebi Rote came, and AKB dominated.
3rd Gave Yuki her push. She started sharing the heavy workload with the other top girls, which must've helped a little.

So it's not just a popularity contest. It'll be interesting finding out how the results this year affect the group.

Another thing to look for is who comes out on top between Takamina and Kojiharu. It seems to effect who is center of no3b.

Before the 1st election - Kojiharu center
From 1st election - before 3rd election - Takamina center
After 3rd election - Kojiharu center

(I know Kuchibiru Furezu came out after the 3rd election, but given recording times and such, it was probably decided on before)

Takamina and Kojiharu

Insanely hard to predict this time...

The results of the 3rd election were really close:
- Kojima Haruna (52,920 votes)
- Takahashi Minami (52,790 votes)

and these girls are both likely candidates to receive some of "Acchan votes," making this really unpredictable. I'm leaning towards KojiHaru since she's been at the top of her game all year long. On the other hand, Takamina always receives a lot of support from various corners, so who knows... It'll be interesting for sure.

Yeah after all this is Japan we're talking about...anything weird can happen.

I find it unlikely though that mayu will become centre....because not all Japanese like otakus (ie some hate otakus A LOT).

But drawing the focus away from the election itself, after the centre person is decided the songs produced will change as well. Many people see team B as the group with sugary cute songs, which unfortunately will make AKB the same as every other idol group out there, so a team B centre might not be the way to go...we'll stop hearing cool songs like RIVER and Beginner. In fact, for me, AKB's songs right now aren't exactly as flash as they were 1.5 years ago, they're just using the momentum from previous songs to carry them to the #1 position on charts. A team A or even team K centre would hail a move back to their old style of songs, which could actually be a good thing.

I wouldn't necessarily expect any change in the style of songs. Team B gets shoe-horned into the cutesy songs for single b-sides, which is mildly annoying, but their stages have a bit more variety (http://youtu.be/bw0UeJjulQs). But anyway, the center isn't really important for the single itself, and I don't think they'll go alter the forthcoming singles (which are almost certainly in progress already). We'll still get some quicky & badass song in August, a boss song in October, and the oddball Janken-song in December, etc etc. Rinse, Wash, Repeat!

I'd pay good money for Janken to be replaced by something else, though

Takamina is technically still center of No3b even after the election . Sure Kojiharu started the song and has more solos in Pedicure Day (I think it's because this type of cute songs fit her more as compared to Takamina) but in the cover as well as media appearances when they promote the single and magazine photoshoots,  Takamina is still center. So I don't think the center position in NO3b has that much to do with election results. It might affect the formation for one single right after the election, but for singles after that and in general, I don't think the center will be decided based on that unless they plan to release only 1 single per year.

Following up on what Amplifier was saying...

Team B is a bit misunderstood by those who don't really follow their stage songs. Yes, they are in charge of the 'classic idol' and 'cute' concept but they CAN pull off fierce, sexy and powerful songs. I mean, some of their best stage songs aren't cute AT ALL.

Cross quoting from the questions thread:

Good day:
Does anyone know if the 4th senbatsu vote is included in the NMB & SKE singles? Or only in Manatsu?

Voting tickets are only ever included with the AKB single.

I know they want AKB48 to sell a million+ again, but I think it would benefit the entire 48 empire if the SKE48 and NMB48 singles did include Senbatsu Election voting tickets. AKB48 may sell a bit less, but it will definitely increase the sales for SKE48 and NMB48, which will give them more exposure, which will lead to more fans for each group, which will lead to a stronger empire. They're included in the election anyway, so why not go all out with the voting tickets as well?

It's kinda surprising we aren't getting that this year, considering the release schedule. I'd be all for that, though.

BTW guys, have you seen how beautiful Kumi is lately? Don't forget to vote for her in the election. I'll ban everyone if she doesn't make Senbatsu :tama-mad:

Great catch! I didn't notice that. At the moment, Sasshi's leading with 13.6K views, followed by Yuko at 12.5K and Wasamin at 11.7K. Not surprisingly, Kaoru has the highest number of views at 4.2K among the AKB research students.

I haven't watched all the videos but the most baffling one I've seen has to be Takamina's. What is that girl doing??? :? I can't help but think that she's channelling the feeling of constipation

After serious discussions with Kimuuu and carolol, we decided that she was powering up DBZ style for her attack

Regardless, when she came out swinging her light saber thing, I was so surprised that I started laughing hysterically and fell off a futon.

Yuko talked, according to Nikkan(paper), which conducted the in depth interview with Yuko...

She is a very determined and responsible person when it comes to her role as a popular idol. She said "If I were not in the election, my fans would go nowhere. They might be lost." Akip replied to her, "If you withdraw from the election, then AKB48 will collapse.
This has got me thinking, is Senbatsu a double edged sword?

We know AKB48 songs & performances follows the policy of harmonization instead of certain members getting leads, but since idolism still emphasizes on popularity, Senbatsu elections therefore exists.

Howeverthe double edge comes from the tendency of management to over-emphasize the importance of the more popular senbatsus; so what if somebody decide to walk out like like Acchan did? The senbatsus that are really key to AKB48's unit stability number to less than ten, so can Akimoto risk losing another one of them? What if Yuko, Mayu, Kashiwagi, or Kami forbid TKMNa decides to act on their post-AKB/idoru plan(s)? Th "AKB48 collapse" may trigger.

So should company48 lessen the emphasis of Senbatsu, & give equal, fairer promos to more members?

Note:
  • Members who are placed first in their respective Team Video list (e.g. Akimoto Sayaka from Team K) can have artificially higher viewership that they ought too. These members are italicized.
  • Members who have more interesting/quirky video might have more viewership that will not necessarily translate to vote. An example might be Takamina.
  • I have no idea who Kinoshita Momoka is, & why she's ranking 14th in all viewership!  XD (& no, she is not placed on top of a list.)
  • Can someone tell me how do one create a table here plz!

I don't think the view numbers will be related with the results in the real election...
some people tend to rewatch member videos...
some videos, like yuko, get lots of views because it is on the news, saying she was hinting about her graduation...
while sasshi mostly because of the solo debut hype...
well, the top members getting lots of views is not something strange...

but kinoshita momoka??
btw, she's nmb team M member if you don't know...
the weird 15 years old otaku (if I'm not wrong)...
furukawa airi and nishishi are the only two outside NMB that seems quite close to her (as far as I know)
quite surprised she is above sayanee and milky...
(even milky is above sayanee)

but, people who watched the videos are not always will vote, so let's just see next month...

well, those asides  XD
I will vote on Kumi this year (like last year, and the year before)

Well, she does stand out a bit:

(http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/t/jphip98849.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/jphip98849.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/t/jphip110440.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/jphip110440.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/t/jphip110932.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/jphip110932.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/t/jphip110950.jpg) (http://picroda.jphip.com/akb48/jphip110950.jpg)

Having watched the majority of these videos, I must conclude they are much less interesting than last year's.
A lot of girls are going for a serious and plain video. There are barely any wacky ones and even most outfits don't stand out that much.
Aw well, all the more power to those who did try to do something special. Let's hope it pays off for them.

AKB48 - Senbatsu Election 2010 - 2011 Chart (http://pastehtml.com/view/bu6yev7jr.html)

Quote from: foodlfg
.
I've made an interactive chart using google docs and its motion chart (posted it on pastehtml).
It has some cool features. For example you can track the members and see where they ended up etc.

(http://i.imgur.com/6cy8ts.png) (http://imgur.com/6cy8t) (http://i.imgur.com/Ivrtas.png) (http://imgur.com/Ivrta) (http://i.imgur.com/m5QnQs.png) (http://imgur.com/m5QnQ)

For now it only contains the 2010 and 2011 senbatsu elections' data, but I will add this year's results too as soon as it's out.

If you find any incorrect data or anything in the chart, please tell me. Thanks.

I hope the GUI is not in hungarian for you guys. I couldn't change it anywhere in google docs, so probably google displays the chart based on where you access it from.

And one more thing: vote for Minegishi. Or for Oya.

Nice! Respect!

SKE dominating the UG and Next girls list. Pretty amazing.  :w00t:

I don't think all 17 will rank when the final results come in, but I think at least 11-12 members will. The 2ch SKE fans' motto is aim for 13, right?

Also, wtf at Sayaka's rank. 32? Seriously?! :smhid

Random thoughts:

- One HKT girl and it's not Kodama Haruka  :O2
- Nonaka Misato push failed
- People are bored with Lemon
- Tons of SKE, yet no Ishida Anna. wtf.
- I expected Ami to be higher
- Lovetan at #52 is quite shocking tbh.
- Myao dropping was to be expected as well, but dayum.
- #45 for Iwasa is decent, glad she's getting acknowledged.
- #40 Nakata Chisato makes no sense whatsoever.
- #39 Matsumura Kaori (SKE48) lmao, fuck yeah!
- #33 Yagami Kumi is back and here to stay!
- #31 Ogasawara Mayu (NMB48) is a nice surprise
- #30 Muto Tomu is climbing the stairs at rapid pace
- #17 Kasai Tomomi will be the new Umechan. This could be her year...
- No major surprises at the top

Let's see, who are we missing?
- Shimada Haruka
- MOENO NITO  :panic:
- Matsui Sakiko
- Komori Mika  :O2
- Sato Sumire
- Suzuki Shihori :/
- Kato Rena
- Takashi Juri
- Takeuchi Miyu

If anyone else is struggling with the Kanji like I was, then you can see the first day results in English with count numbers here (http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php?title=AKB48_27th_Single_Senbatsu_Sousenkyo_%22Fan_ga_Erabu_64_Giseki%22#1st_Day_Results)

I'm very happy for my favourites.
Mayuyu #3  :twothumbs
Paruru joint #22  :thumbsup
And a nice lead for Yuko  :)

Those omissions are worrying. And there's lots of SKE in who I don't know (as I don't follow SKE). Mocchi dropped a lot too...

Very surprised by Muto Tomou ranking so highly.
Happy for Wasamin ranking in, and Team 4 for having 5 representatives.

And I still need to read the list more. One thing I'd note is that first day numbers are down from last year. Yuko had 17k last year and 15k this time, all the first day numbers are down, despite sales being MASSIVE.

wow, unexpected results...  :w00t:

although I'm an SKE fan, never thought that 17 members will get in
well, I think the end results will differ greatly...
first day sales of manatsu sounds good is 1,17 million, so big changes are about to happen...  8)

by the way, just a trivia...
all members from Oita are in the results,
1. Sashihara Rino, team A is from Oita
2. Yakata Miki, team K2 is from Oita
3. Eto Sayaka, HKT kenkyuusei, the only HKT to make it in, is also from Oita

as someone who have stayed in Oita for 4 years, this result is great!!!

^ THIS! Sayaka in Next Girls? I don't approve! Her fans better start voting alot. The most annoying thing is that there are girls above her that I don't even know! D: I'm thinking of giving all my 4 votes to Sayaka since Sae seem to be in Senbatsu anyway. I dunno if 4 votes will make any differencel, but I feel like I wanna give full support to her ;A; She's way too awesome to be left out of so many singles!! She even thinks this is her last chance to be in Senbatsu so I'd really wanna see her there, but seems like it's gonna be very difficult

This. Last year, less than 200 votes separated Takamina and Kojiharu all the way up at #6 and #7 rank. Every vote counts.

- Why the hell no Ishida Anna on the list?
- Why the hell no Suuchan on the list?
- Tomochin drop isn't surprising at all. I'm not saying I like it, just that I'm not surprised.
- I want a PV of that Undergirls lineup now!!!
- Only about 16% of the first day sales are accounted for in these vote numbers. This leaves a lot of room for major changes, especially since there's only a 1055 vote difference between 33rd and 64th.

If we consider TOP 40 only in order to compare 2012 vs 2011

Team A
2012  41339
2011  57685 (41233 exclude Atsuko)

Team K
2012   40892
2011   40128

Team B
2012  35086
2011 36991

Team 4+KKS
2012 4097
2011 811

Team S
2012 23618
2011  13258

Team Kii
2012  12204
2011  2879

NMB48
2012  7940

-Mayuyu 3rd :twothumbs
-Milky's got a big push!
-Great Undergirls lineup. Pretty much all of my favorites in SKE are in there. Can't wait for their coupling song. BUT KUUMINNN JUST 1 MORE RANK UP PLEASEEE XD
-Nothing surprising about Yuko's 1st place
-W Matsui getting it down :thumbsup
-Akimoto Sayaka deserves higher  (speaking with Filipino pride)
-Fresh Lemon ain't catchy anymore
-No Komorin or Suuchan :?

While this isn't final, it's a good basis on predicting how the sousenkyo is gonna turn out :)

#47 Yamauchi Suzuran

#22 Shimazaki Haruka

Just wanted to lol at this for a second  :P

A lot of people here are on the Ranran bandwagon, but I never really connected with her somehow. Nothing against her though.
Furthermore, Paruru is Team 4 favorite, yet I always get to hear how she is boring, creepy, has no personality, etc...

I'll let the result speak for itself :V

Well, the result doesn´t talk about how funny they are and if they have or not personality. Remember, Maeda won this twice  :pimp:.

I would LOVE to see Mayuyu get the no.2 though!

This is also the most unpredictable

I think guessing 33-48 Next Girls or 49-64 Future Girls correctly would be immensely harder than top 16.
Anyway, top 16 is definitely more important and more interesting for the sake of this competition.  :yep:

Btw, is it about the number of correctly guessed girls, correct positions or girl + correct position?

According to the AKB48 Official Taiwan Shop Facebook, this year's Senbatsu election will be streamed live through youtube! :twothumbs

I am not sure it is available for all to access, or only for the two locations mentioned on the page. The took special attention to differentiate this year's steaming method from last year's however (which was live broadcast in a particular location.) Based on that, I believe it is more likely that the youtube streaming is available for all to see! :)

The comments underneath seems to be concerned about epic lag however.  :panic:

It was pretty good. The guys who watched the streamed 100 Setlist should have a good idea what quality they'll get.
They didn't restrict country for the past few streams (i think...), so there's no reason they'd do it this time.
And if worse turns to worst, get keyholetv and switch to fuji tv. :panic:

AKB48 'election' shows marketing brilliance

By PATRICK ST. MICHEL and DAISUKE KIKUCHI
Special to The Japan Times
The biggest event of the year for AKB48, the 48-member pop group that's the most popular music act in Japan today, arrives next Wednesday.

Thousands of fans are expected to fill the historic Nippon Budokan to watch, while Fuji TV will broadcast the three-hour show live. It should also attract a healthy overseas viewership, as theaters across Asia are set to screen it live. It's not a concert though — it's an election-results show.

The fourth annual AKB48 general election, going on now, concludes June 6 at the Budokan. For a pop group in love with spectacle — they boast a rock-paper-scissors tournament, music videos regularly clocking in at over 10 minutes and, oh yeah, 48 members — this display of pop democracy tops everything else they do. The official press release for the election says that the "Japanese media and level of general awareness of this event are almost on par with a real political election," which is frighteningly accurate. It's also one of the smartest marketing moves the people behind the group have ever made.

The premise of the election is pretty straightforward: Voters fill out a ballot to determine the most popular member of the sprawling group, who becomes the school-uniform-clad face of AKB48 for the next year, earning the right to be the center performer during live performances. The lower rankings matter, too. The top 16 vote-grabbers get to appear on AKB48's next single, which barring a radical change in Japanese consumer habits, should see big sales. Throw in a few more advertising deals for the winner, and you have a harmless popularity contest.

Yet the insidious — and genius — twist of the whole idol electoral process (as conceived by producer Yasushi Akimoto) is how fans obtain a ballot: They come included with copies of the group's latest single, "Manatsu no Sounds Good!," which retails for ¥1,200 on Amazon Japan. Die-hard fans, those obsessed with individual members, will buy extra copies to procure more ballots. AKB48 sees spikes in sales whenever they release one of these "election singles."

"Sounds Good!" went the extra mile — it sold 1.61 million copies in its first week, breaking Oricon music-chart records.

This J-pop poll tax isn't without its critics. On TV show "Tokudane!" last year, announcer Tomoaki Ogura said, "A fair election should be done with one vote per person. A person buying 50 or 100 CDs gets 50 or 100 votes — so the election is dominated by big money?" (Ogura probably shouldn't read up on the role of Super PACs in this year's U.S. presidential election.) On the same program, talent Kawori Manabe countered by saying, "The CD sales could be in proportion to the fans' passion," while Fuji TV talent reporter Chumei Maeda added, "The system rewards fans' kindness."

AKB48's fans have certainly been kind. Atsuko Maeda won the inaugural general election with 4,630 votes. Yuko Oshima grabbed the title the next year courtesy of 31,448 ballots cast for her. In 2011, Maeda regained the throne with 139,892 votes. With a little less than a week to go, a polling update (yes, they exist for this) tallied 15,093 votes for Oshima, with her nearest competitor Yuki Kashiwagi at 12,654. If CD sales can be trusted, expect those numbers to jump up the night of June 6.

Alongside the number of people voting, the media's coverage of the AKB48 election has grown significantly from year to year. News outlets give the election more attention than it deserves (which is none at all and, before you fire off a letter to the editor, remember that this article graces the music page rather than the news section).

For the first time this year, Fuji TV will broadcast the three-hour ordeal, fluffing the show out with backstage footage, segments on AKB history and speeches from producer Akimoto and Maeda, who withdrew from the election when she announced she would be "graduating" from the group in the near future ... which has been manufactured into an election storyline, too.

The people behind AKB48 are also using this election as a chance to spread the group's name internationally. Last year movie theaters in Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong showed the results, but for the 2012 edition the group has teamed up with Google's ho-hum social network Google Plus to reach fans overseas, including in English-speaking nations. Users can add members of AKB48 — or anyone from the various spin-off groups, who are also eligible to win this election — to their circle, and if they get lucky they can win a personal video from said member or even a trip to the Budokan to "report" on the election.

All of the media attention and social-network tie-ins come off as bizarre, but the whole election is genius because it further feeds the fantasies of AKB48 fans. The group rose to prominence by being "idols you could meet," the members of AKB48 regularly interacting with fans via daily concerts and events. This approach creates the illusion of connection — hardcore fans feeling like they have a deeper relationship with their favorite member, when in fact it's still a consumer-seller deal. The election capitalizes on this — while plenty of casual fans probably just want the song and will send off a single ballot, someone who feels a bond with a specific member will go to extra lengths to help said member — by buying multiple copies of a single. AKB48 are masters of pulling off tricks, and this is one of their finest — turning a meaningless popularity contest into something that matters to many and makes a fortune.

Many AKB48 fan sites are convinced former-winner Oshima will take this year's election, and will thus become the face of the group. That could change, but it does seem certain AKB48 will make serious bank off of all of this. The pre-election singles might get a spike in sales, but that's nothing compared to the first post-election single, which trampolines up in sales. The next week might be full of spectacle, but that spectacle is pretty smart.

The AKB48 General Election will be broadcast on Fuji Television on June 6 from 7 p.m.

and, oh yeah, 48 members

The writers at The Japan Times should really learn to research simple things like this instead of just make assumptions based on the name of the group.

But I guess that's too much to ask from folks who only want to "report" on how ridiculous they think AKB48 and its fanbase is.

This is my first election so I have some questions  :sweatdrop:

Stupid question, I know, but where on youtube can I watch the election?
Can I still vote for my favorite and can I do it online without having a CD?
What do they mean with "Exclusive live streaming of the final winner's election speech"? Does this mean that they are just going to show the speech of the winner at 11:00 pm?

You can still vote, but you'd need to buy one of the CDs to get the code, which is included inside. You COULD buy some codes on ebay, but those can get pretty expensive (and might not be legit).

What is the AKB48 General Election?

The General Election for AKB48 is the largest annual event in Japanese music and entertainment. It has traditionally been an event where fans buy CDs (only sold in Japan) and vote on who should be the top member. So, I'll say it again, for bragging rights later  XD

Alright, so as far as I can work out, and I'm likely to be wrong, here's the schedule:

JST
1720 election starts on google+
1900 fuji tv broadcast starts
2115 fuji tv broadcast ends
2300 winner's livestream speech on G+

I've heard there's likely a performance beforehand (6 songs last year) so that will fill some time before the TV broadcast starts. And I'm assuming the whole thing will wrap up for the TV broadcast so the livestream winner's speech is a separate thing.

Even if Nishishi doesn't rank, I hope at least Yukko does.

I'm really scared for my dear Tomochin since she was number 9 (?) last time
I think I don't have to be worried about Yuki and Haruna but I hope that Kasai gets a decent place too :panic:
and I don't remember when Ishida Haruka entered AKB48 (I think it was last year) so I'm not sure if she will even get a place ...
Ami might be in it cause it looks like she has enough fans already

well I just have to wait and see (and pray) and I'm probably gonna cry the whole time because I'm just too sensitive when it comes to things like that
but on the other side I'm really excited since this is my first election ... I'm happy to share it with you guys and I hope that your oshimen gets a good place :deco:

When they announced that Mayu is second, I started crying and got worse than Yui this and last year. My Yuko-sama is.......AWESOME!!!! She so deserved this place!!!!!
Oshiri sisters with Okaasan rocking the top 3, plus Sasshi and Mariko adding 4, 5... This was amazing!!!! And at last Takamina got what she deserved, a higher rank!!!!!

Yuko-sama, OMEDETOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: I also cried for Umechan, she FINALLY gotten into senbatsu :)

Akimoto Sayaka + PB = Majisuka???  :shocked Dunno what kinda PB that is but YAY!

I'm OK with the Election results since Yuko got center position~~ At first I was sad for Sayaka's drop but after all she got more votes than last year and she looked happy and smiled so it's all fine ;A; She ranked at 20th, her Mushi no Ballad ranked at 20th at AX too. A fun coincidense  ;)
Sae didn't get into Top 10 but when seeing her burst into tears I was so happy for her ;;A;; My Team K girls, OMEDETOU!

OSHIRI SISTERS CONGRATULATIONS!!! :shakeit:

I literally jumped out of my chair and shouted "YES!" when the announcer said Kashiwagi.  :twothumbs

So so happy that Yuko got crowned #1 again  :theking

Umechan in senbatsu is fantastic.

Wasamin and Mutou Tomu as the other centres are great news too  :thumbup
Very suprised at these two.

Was very happy for Tanochan to suddenly jump up to be Team 4's #3. Thats great. And Yagi came out of nowhere as well.
Dissapointed at Suzuran's low ranking, but I think Team 4 were well represented.

Chiyuu's rank was a shock, as was Rena losing to Jurina. And Sayanee not making senbatsu.

Was also disappointed by Akicha dropping out of senbatsu, Mocchi's rank, and all the AKB girls who dropped a lot, like Moeno and Lovelytan.

SKE domination in undergirls. I don't follow them at all, so felt like too much for me, would rather have the AKB girls there.

Wow, what a morning!

- Umechan
- Sasshi skyrocketed!  8)
- Takamina almost in the top 5. Keep climbing!  :thumbsup
- A lot of girls I really like either dropped or didn't go up at all. Komori, Oya, Fujie, Moeno, Sumire...
- Mochi and especially Akicha looked pissed and ready to kill someone, Tomochin just looked depressed  :huhuh
- Jurina beat Rena, zomg!  XD

and all hail queen Yuko! No surprise there.

+ Masana at #27 and her overjoyed reaction
+ Queen Jurina :v
+ SKE dominating Under Girls + Kaotan, Nishi
+ tons of girls who made it in for the first time

- Sakiko's drop from #38 to #53
- Micha not ranking
- Sayaka A. forever underrated
- Honestly speaking I wanted a new center, lol

I was really surprised Sakiko dropped so much, I was sure she had a shot for Next Girls. :nervous But overally I think I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Epic UG for sure.

Moments that made me happy during this election:

- Yamamoto Sayaka claimed 18th spot! My prediction was right!
On a side note, I'm guessing Yamamoto Sayaka will jump 10 spots to 18 this year.
- Tomomi getting 12th! I was so afraid that her rank would keep going down. Really glad that she moved back up.
- When Rena was announced before Jurina. Go Jurina! (I still love you though, Rena.)
- Tomochin remains 8th and didn't drop. Similar to Tomomi's case, I didn't want Tomochin to drop in her ranking.
- Sasshi at 4th place. That meant Mayuyu would be 3rd-
- Oh, no, wait! Yukirin is 3rd! Now here was where I laughed out in sheer joy because that meant...
- My precious baby Mayuyu is 2nd!!!!!! The CG revolution has begun!!
- Yukirin looked at Mayuyu with so much pride and love when Mayuyu went up the stage. Oh, MaYuki love!
- Acchan and Yuko's hug! The two rivals who helped each other to grow so much. :deco:

Yes, some girl like Sayaka and Moeno are always underrated  :(
They merit a higher position on the ranking.

Really happy for Mayu in getting into the top 2 and Kumi for ranking in the under girls. Somewhat sad to see Yuki's votes decrease, I wonder why, though I'm glad she did not drop in rank this year. Sasshi for getting into the top 5 and even beating some high profile members, congrats girl. Also really happy to see Takamina and Kasai rank increase.

Congrats Yuko for getting the crown back.  :)

A lot of my favourites are bunching together in the lower levels, so if I can't dream of them being senbatsu, I CAN dream of them being in a couple of PVs together :D

I would LOVE to see Mayuyu get the no.2 though!

Title: Re: [2012.06.06] The 4th Senbatsu Election - *Results on page 10!*

God... where do I begin? What an amazing event. Seeing this live was truly awesome. MAD props to AKB48 management for deciding to stream this to the world. I feel so connected to AKB48 and company right now in a way I've never felt before. Being able to witness this event in this way was insanely awesome.

Incoming wall-of-text. Bear with me.

-The first edge of my seat moment for me was hearing Nakanishi Yuka's name. For her to make it even if just barely, was so well deserved and awesome. I still remember her impressive kenkyuusei days with AKB48. She deserves to be there.

-Fuck yeah Miki! Another well-deserved SKE member gets in!

-Maachun!!!!! I knew more NMB members would get in, but I wasn't too sure about her. Was thrilled to hear her name. :thumbup

-Was happy to see Moeno's name. :)

-Suzuran ranked WAY lower than I expected. I thought for sure she's be at least top 25.

-Kikuchi Ayaka makes it. Awesome!

-Huge upset for Future Girls with Muto Tomo taking the top spot of that group. I definitely didn't see it coming, but good for her!

-Haachan gets lucky 48! AWESOME!

-I'm surprised that of all the HKT48 girls to rank, it's Miyawaki Sakura! I thought it would be Kodama Haruka or Matsuoka Natsumi for sure. I'm happy for her though, she's a cutie and pretty good from what I've seen of her on random TV appearances!

-Nana and Ainyan making it into Next Girls is awesome. Nana is just pure sexy awesome fun, and Ainyan is so fun and engaging both on stage and, from what I hear, at events to the fans. Very cool.

-Tano Yuka is pretty cool, glad she's in too!

-Aamin, thrilled to hear your name!

-Matsumura Kaori's hard work FINALLY pays off. BBQ getting #2 in next girls is a HUGE win and I hope this is the final straw for her getting promoted into a team. Just fucking do it, AkiP. She's been around so long and never gave up, she deserves it ten times over. Thank God the Google+ project happened, if for no other reason, so that this amazing girl didn't go unnoticed by the general fandom.

-Wasamin getting center in Next Girls is great. I hope this will convey to her that she does have value as an idol. I've always been a little nervous that she might graduate to fully focus on Enka. I think she should do that eventually, but stay with us a bit longer, girl. <3

-SKE48 dominating the Under Girls was easily the most exciting part of the election for me. Hearing that announcer say "SKE48" over and over and over again was simply fantastic. SKE48 is such a fun, charismatic group and I'm glad fans have taken to them so much this year. It's great. Awesome to see Airin in there. Akarin really can smile through anything, such a sweet girl. Kuumin making a huge comeback! Love it. And of course... you know where I'm going next.

-Hata Sawako. As she walked up to stage, and every time I saw her after, she was smiling in a way I've never seen her smile before. I'm not even sure how to describe it but it moves me emotionally even now to think about it. It was like, it finally clicked in her head that people support her and it seemed to make her so happy. It was really a magical moment for me, as her fan. It's something I won't ever forget, and I'm glad to be a part of making that happen. And her speech was just... so precious. What a woman.

-And right above her, another girl I love dearly, the one and only Churi. Terrific!

-Very cool to see Milky and Sayaka rank closely together. First of all, I have to say it: Milky is hot. Milky is always hot. Milky was especially hot tonight. I really liked her speech and attitude about ranking. I knew she would make it this time, but it still thrilled me. Same for Sayanee, what a great captain! <3 NMB48 really is fantastic. Glad their representation is risen and increased in number.

-Akicha getting center of undergirls would have been a lot cooler if she acted happy about it. I'm not sure if she was pissed or just on emotional autopilot at the time, but she didn't seem enthusiastic. And her speech was kind of... weird. And pretty much every other time we saw her, she just looked blank. I'm not sure what to really make of it, but good for her.

-Umechan made it to senabtsu! Woohoo!! She more than deserves it, awesome surprise.

-Yui was about where I expected here, in all honesty. She's popular no doubt, but I think her super hype has kinda settled down.

-Good to see Miichan in about the same spot. She's awesome.

-Same for Rie. I was worried she'd lose major ground, so I'm glad she kept lucky thirteen.

-Look at Kasai gaining some ground this year! I'm happy to see it. She's sexy and stuff.

-Sae seems to be another unshakeable pillar. Deservingly so.

-Rena keeping #10 is cool. And her vote count did get an impressive boost. Nothing to be sad about here.

-Look who's back... Back again... Jurina's back... tell a friend. It doesn't really hurt me that she beat Rena, but I will openly say I prefer Rena being the top SKE girl in this election. That being said, there's nothing wrong at all with Jurina, I love her a lot. She seemed thrilled with her spot and I'm thrilled for her. But still, there was just something about Rena being top SKE that I liked. Oh well, no big deal to me. Sorry Barrie! Also, her number spike was HUUUUUUGE! I wonder what contributed to such a power up. Very impressive.

-Tomochin didn't really change rank or vote count, only 80 vote difference from last year. I'm a bit surprised her momentum didn't really change, but hey, she's still #8, good for her. :thumbup

-Kojima dropped a spot but did get some more votes this year. Not bad. She's a power house and not going anywhere.

-Takamina gained quite a few votes and went up one spot, and it's more than deserved. She's the glue holding AKB48 together. She deserves to be up there. Way to go, Takamina!

-Mariko remaining in the top five is no surprise whatsoever. She has a very loyal following and I don't see that ever changing. Also, she had one of if not the best speech in the show. I like how she was all "come at me sis" to all the younger members. It's cool that she's willing to accept their challenge and motivate them in that way. Very awesome. Sasuga Mariko-sama. :thumbup

-Sasshi fucking did it! YES!!! Not only did she get in the top five, but she secured the fourth position! I was really hoping she would somehow pull off number three, but that really was just a silly fanboy dream. Nonetheless, that HUGE jump in votes is incredible. Over 22,000 more votes this year for Sasshi! As far as I'm concerned, the Hetare Revolution was a huge success. Way to go, Sashiko!

-Yukirin at number 3... you know what, I'm surprised. I thought she'd stay under Yuko. But hey, it is what it is. She lost about 3000 votes and that small loss of traction was just enough to let Mayuyu sneak above her. I really don't know what to say about it other than it was a real surprise. I'm not sad, though. Third place out of 237 girls? I've said this southern expression several times today, but those aren't small potatoes. Yukirin's great, and this result is still great.

-Mayuyu did it. I'm happy for her. She is a great idol and she's been doing an amazing job in Warota, Majisuka Gakuen 2, Sabadol, her gravure shoots, her solo debut, and everything else this past year. I'm also happy that she seems to have finally found the balance of being ambitious without sounding ungrateful. I really liked her speech. Good job, Mayuyu. Show us the power of your oshiri and other talent!

-Yuko getting #1, zero surprise. She deserves it 100%. Professional speech, as always. Acchan's arrival was a fun not-much-of-a-surprise. I'm really happy about it. Last time she was center AKB48 dished out one of my favorite A-sides, so it'll be a lot of fun. It was interesting to see that she did lose votes. A lot of votes. I think it does show that post-Acchan AKB48 is not set in stone. I think it'll be a while before the ground is rocked in a major way, but it is quite possible. I think it's a good thing. A little uncertainty generates hype and interest, which means our beloved group will be around longer.

So... whew. What an event overall. Watching it live was a million times more fun and enthralling than I thought it would be. Waking up at 3AM with only a few hours of power nap behind me, I didn't know if I'd make it, but from the time I heard Nakanishi Yuka's name to the very end, I was nothing but immersed. Was not bored for a single damn second. Again, I am just so so grateful to AKB48's management for doing this. What a thrill ride. So glad I made it up to watch it.

And maybe the most badass part of it all was our watch party. MAJOR success, dudes! We had SO MANY PEOPLE show up!! :thumbsup I think we really showed what the AKBar is capable of today. Major fun and insanity in the chat while we all gasped, laughed, and cheered together. I had an amazing time and I hope everyone else did, too. It gave me a much needed energy boost for the fandom and even the hobby itself. The AKB48 fandom is huge and it's easy to get lost in some negativity out there online, but knowing that there's still many good people around who just want to have fun, shoot the shit, and enjoy the hell out of AKB48 in a fun and positive way makes me really happy. So, props. :jphip:

I'm sure I probably missed a point or two, I'll edit them in if I think about them. :peace: So I guess now, we wait for the next single. Let's do it again next year!

Edit: I did forget something, and something kinda important no less. The celebration and the hooplah is fun and all, but at the same time, I feel for all the girls who didn't make it. No one really deserves to not get called in my opinion, but that's the way the industry works. Not everyone wins. Some don't even get a fair chance, if we're honest about it. I hope they don't take it too hard, but it has to be a bummer. There's plenty of awesome talent still on that floor. I think it's just a testament to how talent-filled AKB48 and company are more than anything else. The competition is fierce, so I hope they don't feel too bad. :(

This is the best I can give you since I kept zoning out even though by the end of it, I felt so wide awake from the excitement.

This was my first time participating in the election though not as hardcore as some as those wotas and well it was really intense; it almost felt like I was watching a sporting event. lol All I can say is that Nishishi being ranked was the best highlight of my night/morning, I was a mess really and it didn't help that I had a morning class later on.

Plus Undergirls is basically SKE Domination like jeebus.

Also Umechan getting into Senbatsu was just ;w;

Yukko not ranking was a huge disappointment for me, she made it to the preliminary ranks which made me so happy and from the looks of it, I expected her to keep it. I was waiting for her name to be called for FG but then :| I thought she probably got a higher rank but as the as things progressed, I eventually figured what happened.

Y U NO LIKE REBEL YUKKO?

All in all, a very intense event that I was happy to witness and it was totally worth waking up at 3 just for the livestream, except I was smart enough to sleep early beforehand otherwise I would be dead on my toes by the time it ended.

Didn't have time to go through everyone's comments yet, but....

Congratulations to everyone who made top 64, and to the other members who didn't- keep going for it!! The effort to keep going strong is why fans look to you for inspiration.

Saw some remarks about how SKE48 has dominated the second team, combine that with some very experienced AKB48 members led by Akicha, and two top aces from NMB48, I think this team has the potential to be a Juggernaut team............Hopefully, Management will see what a fantastic lineup they have in the Undergirls, and let's get some rivalry going with the Senbatsu!

A little late to the party, but who cares?  :D

Highlights/Lowlights/General WTFuckery that made my heart stop:

- Nishishi actually holds on to her 63rd position. Proof that hard work does pay-off. It's not that she barely made it. Rather, she finally made it. I almost lost it when they showed Sasshi and Kitarie crying for her.

- Lovetan, Ranran, Minarun, Lemon and Shiichan ranking as low as they did. I did not expect the AKB girls to drop like flies in the rankings.

- Kanon making it in all thanks to the Team E wotas. Represent!  :thumbup

- I know diddly-squat about KKS Muto Tomu other than being the KKS with the funny name. Her centering the FG will be interesting.

- Tano Yuka making it in instead of Takahashi Juri, Kawaei Rina or Kato Rena. Really surprising because I thought those 3 had the more solid fanbases, plus they had the advantage of getting a push.

- Ainyan outranking Nana. Isn't Sayanee/Milky/Nana the big 3 of NMB?  :?

- Again, AKB girls losing ranks.Aamin, Reinyan, Harugon, Myao. What a drop.

- Mukaida Manatsu no sounds good!

- BBQ!  Almost had another breakdown when Kaotan was called. Another proof that hard work really does pay off. She made it to that position through her own efforts alone. Her speech was simply amazing. It's like Churi's 2011 speech v2.0. Even more amazing was how she ended it: "BBQ Matsumura Kaori no Konya mo..." and then Budokan loudly answered with, "ICHI KOME DA!"  :twothumbs

- Wasamin getting NG center. Mujin Eki power!

- Natsumii being the only Team A girl not to get ranked. OUCH.  :(

- Under Girls: best section of the entire election!!!  :twothumbs I didn't think it would be possible but the SKE wotas really did it this time. Half of SKE's senbatsu is here! It's beyond amazing really. 6 SKE members being called one after the other. Yuttan will be forever be remembered as the combo breaker.  This is probably the group I am most excited about. Yuttan, Sayaka, Mocchi, Sayanee, and Airin singing together, plus the dancing prowess of SKE's senbatsu members, and with Akicha at the center.  :w00t: It has the perfect formula for a great UG song that may rival the popularity of Kimi no koto ga suki dakara.

- Speaking of Akicha... yes I was majorly bummed at the drop, but at least she gets to be center.

- Umechan making it to senbatsu was such a pleasant surprise! Congrats!

- Yuihan provided the greatest entertainment of the night. Up until her speech, everyone looked tense, with faces as rigid as a rock. But when she started losing it (again!) on stage, they were laughing and cheering her on. Thank you for easing the tension, Yuihan!

- WMatsui in Top 10. Oh yeah!  :thumbsup I admit I wanted Rena to rank higher than that, but at this point, who cares? Both are in the Top 10, something which they failed to achieve for the past 2 years, being ranked 10th and 11th in 2010 and then 10th & 14th in 2011.

- Sasshi appearing as Team A's ace is... something I did not expect.  :nervous

- Mayu beating Yukirin! I initially felt bad for Yukirin when she was called in the 3rd position, but she looked genuinely happy for Mayu that I can't bring myself to feel bad anymore.

- Acchan's appearance at the end was a nice ending touch to the Yuko/Acchan 'rivalry'. It was really heartwarming.

Over all, I enjoyed this election even if there seemed to me more tears shed here than the last time. Quite a few girls had their Yuihan moment (you can cry, Jurina), and definitely more than a handful had their Tomorage face on (Akicha, you're on TV).  One thing for sure, some of these girls will be back with a vengeance, one way or another (I'm looking at you, Rena wotas).  :nervous

- Sayaka A. forever underrated
THIS.
And I just noticed there's only 38 votes between her and the NMB girl
Yes, some girl like Sayaka and Moeno are always underrated  :(
They merit a higher position on the ranking.
Maybe it's time for her to consider greener pastures where can better utilise her?
If Acchan can move on, what's stopping her?

It was fun watching the event live with a bunch of AKBros

There were four girls I was concerned about coming into the Sosenkyo: Nito, Maeda Ami, Kuramochi, and of course Yuko.

- Nito's name wasn't in the preliminary ranks. I was worried she wasn't gonna rank since she hasn't done much lately. Many fist pumps were had when they announced her name.

- I bought copies of Managuu and gave some votes to Maeda Ami. Glad to see her in the Next Girls, though I was hoping she'd be at least at the bottom of the Undergirls.

- Mocchi really can't get a break, can she? Up and down the same three ranks since the first Sosenkyo. She'll add more singing power to an already stacked vocal talent list in the Undergirls, though.

- There was no doubt Yuko wasn't gonna win, just glad to have seen it happen. I thought, if she wins this I don't care who wins the next one, it should be someone else even. It feels kind of like a send-off, I think she'll leave not too long after Acchan and that's fine with me. But for now, though I'm pretty excited for the single. It should be pretty damn good. Let's get dat 2 million!

Other notables and surprises:
- A huge chunk of AKB Undergirls falling 20 spots.
- Akicha dropping out of Senbatsu. She looked like she died inside, but hey at least it's center.
- J beating Rena. I like Rena quite a bit more and never thought she'd be lower than J.
- Mariko's come at me bro speech was the best of the night.
- Nakata Chisato lol where'd she come from  Also Kana, who started the long string of surprises.
- Umechan great victory getting in Senbatsu.
- Kasai at 12. Was funny going "Okay Kasai is next for sure" and being wrong four times.
- Acchan's spotlight cockblock on Yuko  a lot more drama than needed.
- Idol tears should be made into salt. (http://www.monstersupplies.org/products/salt-made-from-tears-range)

Content with the results. Some girls could be higher but Yuko won, not gonna complain.

Watching it live together was really fun. :twothumbs
BarrieV YT stream disconnecting every 10 minutes and asking for a link.

- Yukko 'n Shimada Haruka not making it. specially weird for Haru. ;) better luck next time. Same to the girls that didn't get in the list.

- The girl with ten dreams, Tomu coming out of nowhere~

- Aamin getting low.

- SKE Underworldgirls domination. Takoyaki Girl co-co-combo-break~ :nervous

- Akicha was... :huhuh
That moment at the end when they called each name one by one...
When Akicha bowed and stood back up, she glared straight into the camera. i felt like my life was in danger for a second there... :shocked
- Umechan Senbatsu Yeah!

- Yui was awesome again! Thank you Yuihan! :D
And everybody on Earth wishing: "Ganbare Yuihan. You can do it!~" like she was Son Goku doing a Genki-dama~

- Kasai is still here. Sigh of relief~

- Mariko going all Sado in her speech. Kakoii~~ 8)2

- Top 3 turned out exactly how I hoped. Yuko repping the 48 flag. Mayu confirmed popularity and getting ready for center next year.
Yuki staying 3rd and looking beautiful. Great spot with less stress than the top, while having room for improvement. :D
Now Yuko is surrounded by Team B's. Better step up your game~
-Leaving with what I said at chat. Hebi Rote part 2!

Highlights/Lowlights

It's pretty interesting that AKB girls still ended up getting the captain spots for the * girls. A lot of people were saying how the sister groups were gonna dominate the lower rung. It was almost certainty that hotshots like Kodama and Eriko were gonna rank because of the new expanded rankings, but it seems the hard push doesn't work for everyone. And some girls like Mutou pretty much came out of the blue.

Amina getting in was great. I've always had a soft spot for her (maybe it's her soft thighs), but she's always great on the stage addressing the fans. One of the few I noticed that didn't have any bitterness in her voice. Of course, then there are the girls who were genuinely pleased to be on stage at all, like Nakayan, Chiichan, Maachun. It's really great to see that the new system is also letting some of the other girls have chances (even if not the ones I wanted..lol). Greatest moment of last night, in my opinion:

I went back to watch some of the ones where people noticed that the girls were not exactly looking very happy, and it's a little disappointing to see that some of them really were kind of pissed off. Paruru, Sayanee, Harukyan, Kumi, to name a few. I guess it's a fine line to tread between showing that you're disappointed you didn't do well and coming off as being disappointed because you didn't get what you felt you deserved.

The number of votes at the lower levels (future girls) was really low, and it's ridiculous how close some of the fights were. For example, Yamauchi Suzuran was only 2 votes away from being one rank lower. This is pretty cool, and also shows just how much one or two single purchases could help. At the same time, comparing the votes numbers you can kind of imagine just how unpopular some of the girls are, relatively. The vote numbers barely reached 30k even through the middle of the pack, before shooting up to ridiculous numbers by the Kami7.

Acchan coming out was a 'what the fuck' moment for me. It felt really out of place, and it certainly didn't fit in with the rest of the ceremony. We were all betting that she'd even get a few lines on the mic (which she did) despite not even taking part in the damn thing, so we laughed a bit at that. Nevertheless, she's supercute as always, so it's alright. Just wish they'd work her in a little better, they had to put her in the same frame as Yuko just so they wouldn't waste any Acchan screentime.

Sashihara Rino getting #4 was great, although I sorta wanted her to get an even higher spot. It wasn't really possible I suppose, even with the ridiculous publicity blitzes that she went on for her solo single. Ridiculous that she got to nearly beat Nogizaka and still get enough votes to take her to #4 position, while Mayuyu's #2 position pretty much killed the sales for WH7's Shounen. If anyone deserves a high spot for hard work over the past year, it's gotta go to Sashihara, and of course Takamina.

Takahashi Minami moving up was great! She really deserves it for all the work she's put in, and her general likeableness. Act or not, you always feel like you can read her like a book, and that's what endears her to most people. It's weird though, everyone likes her but they just don't like her enough to throw in some votes for her over their oshimen. Understandable I suppose, but still kinda sad. I did though! Woo. Hope this means she gets even more mainstream gigs, she needs an out for post-AKB before she runs out of time.

Shinoda Mariko's speech was great, although I guess one could interpret it as an excuse to never leave (lol). Hopefully, the new system of Sousenkyo shows some actual results instead of leaving the juniors that Mariko speaks of feeling entrenched in their positions with nowhere to go. That is pretty much the reason why some people said that Mariko had to leave and leave the spot open for new members. Maybe it will fire up the juniors for real though, and that would be a great way for her to go.

A little late to the party, but who cares?  :D

I feel so guilty for not even making a single post about the Sousenkyo until now :( Watched the whole thing live though :twothumbs The results and speeches and simply the WHOLE DAMN THING was EPIC :thumbup

- Aishiteraburu as the opening song. Kinda surprised by this  XD

- Manatsu no SG performance with Jurina center. I felt this was a sign about Jurina's rank.

- Future Girls = old Undergirls

  - Cheered for Kanon so much when she was called for the fact that we're both 14 years old :thumbsup

  - MASSIVE aura of "Why the hell am I this low?" from Harukyan xD

  - I never expected KKS to actually place in the Sousenkyo. Mutou Tomu's Future Girls center place surprised me :O

  - Saw Shimada Haruka smiling in the seats, thinking that since she hasn't been called, she must've gotten a higher place. Really sucks that she didn't place at all

  - Next Girls = Underrated members

  - Only one HKT member who ranked in the Sousenkyo, Miyawaki Sakura, and she ranked relatively high. Gonna check her out :)

  - DADADADADADADADADADANNNN!!!! Best catchphrase ever

  - I SHIP KANA x SAYAKA  :twothumbs

  - Wasamin as Next Girls center. Her Enka awesomeness should be showed off more :)

- Under Girls = SKE Domination

  - Most of the girls here pretty much placed around where they were expected to be :P

  - Masanya's no mic scream. I bet you guys everyone in the whole venue heard it :thumbup

  - KUUMINNNN!!! Gratz on the 28! Also MILKYYYY for the 19th! :cow:

  - Every AKB girl in there stepped down some ranks from the previous election :(

  - Paruru doesn't seem too satisfied :?

  - SAYAKA!!!! :philippines: FILIPINO PRIDE

-Senbatsu = The usual (but actually felt damn intense :w00t: )

  - Umecchan's 16 is a big surprise. Recently she's sparked interest in me :thumbup

  - Yuihan's speech. Just as emotional as the previous one XD

  - Honestly I expected Miichan and Kasai to be lower. Gratz to them :)

  - Always though Rena would be at the top of SKE. Went "WTF?" when Jurina got 1 RANK HIGHER than Rena! Massive highlight here :nervous

  - Daym, Tomochin didn't make Kami 7 :(

  - Takamina went up! The SPIRIT of AKB48 :twothumbs

  - Mariko-sama's speech. Someone give her a gold medal. Seriously, it hit me too.

  - Sasshi 4th. HETARE POWAAAAAHHHHHHH XD

  - Then. MA. YU. YU. 2ND.   THIS. IS. CG REVOLUTIONNNN

  - As expected. Yuko, the new AKB's ace. No need for words to express the epicness of this moment.

  - TBH, I don't feel that Acchan's appearance was well placed. And she could have said stuff to all the girls as AKB's one true ace instead of praising and praising Yuko's 1st xD

Although I wasn't able to vote even one time (scumbag parents won't buy me a CD), I really sympathized with all the girls. I've had moments of truths also, so I know that feel. This is the product of their efforts in the world of media. This is also the product of how dedicated the fans of the 48 world are. And for the girls to express their gratitude wholeheartedly. This is why the 48 world is great.

But through all this we all know that the real Number 1 is Aki-P

I don't pretend to actually upset anyone over this but...

I don't want Sasshi to be the new Center.
Any of our original Kami7 deserves spot no.4

Why Aki-P? We know Sasshi was an 'Wota/Ota' -- so what? Seriously?
Stop promoting Sasshi to get her into our nerves...
You might bring AKB48 down the hill if you push back the other members just to bring your 'miracle' to the front.

Didn't you all get the feeling of Tomocchin saying 'Goodbye' and asking her fans to actually support her when she leaves AKB48. She has been pushed back slowly and this time...our girl looked different, she truly has given up on Senbatsu.
I'm scared.

I know she'd make a good career but still, I'd miss her so much.

^Good day:

I understand your frustration & desire that more talented members be recognized instead. Personally, I also prefer a lot of members over Sasshi. Nonetheless, there are people who like Sasshi & support her, & there's no right & wrong to it. One can like a member that I find absolutely unappealing, but that doesn't make it wrong, just as it is no one's right to say it is wrong that I like Mayu & Jurina. It doesn't matter if they start liking Sasshi just because of heavy promotion, there is no wrong in supporting her, much like liking tomatoes.

As for the heavy promotion, I think is unfair to lay all the blame on Aki-P. I personally think most of the Sasshi promoting comes from her agency, Ohto Pro (which happens to be the agency for Acchan & Yuko, & might be desperate to quickly develop a new ace in case their top two in AKB graduate soon.)

I like Tomochin, & wish that she faired better in the senbatsu. I also wished that Natsumi, Yukiko, Ishida Anna, Kato Rena & many others could have ranked, & that Sumire & Komori ranked much higher. I find the entrance of many Team A member whom I have the faintest idea of who they are yet not Natsumi most bizarre & frustrating. However, I don't believe these girls who ranked work any less hard then those who did not, & deserve ranking any less too.

There will probably always be people who are unhappy or happy about the result, but in the end no one is right or wrong. Despite not being exactly satisfied about the result, I am grateful that an senbatsu system exist, not because I enjoy my wallet getting ripped, but because it offer fans some degree of power to influence the promotion of member. Management still hold overwhelming power, but there are example of success resulting from the senbatsu (Umechan being an excellent example.) There are downside to the senbastu however, such as a voting system that can be improved on or the fierce competition & confidence attached to it. These I do hope can be improved upon.

In the end, sorry for ranting, but I wish that the spirit of this forum remains uplifting & positive, since this is why I participate in this forum instead of the others. There's nothing wrong with being frustrated, but I think it can be expressed without hard feelings. Let continue to support our girls, & hope that they make us proud in the next senbatsu!

It's been a while since I spent a whole night without sleeping in order to watch an event and I don't regret it at all!! Considering the PST, it started around 1:30 am (after the extra hour we had to wait those watching on Google+ and YouTube).

Once 'Overture' started to play, I almost spazzed! I had to contain a shriek because my mother was sleeping but ahhh, it was very exciting! Then the performances came and every girl seemed to shine with their own light. It was magical, very different than watching the recorded videos, because it was...live. I don't know if it sounds too silly, but it was like that.

Now, my personal highlights:

Future Girls.

Next Girls.

Undergirls.

Senbatsu.

Let's see if I have any thoughts...

Future Girls
64 Komori Mika: Quite surprised and a bit sad to see her so low.
63 Nakanishi Yuka: She's been in AKB48 and SKE48 for a long while now, so it's always great when someone like that finally gets a chance to shine.
62 Yakata Miki: Surprised she made it in, whereas someone like Ishida Anna didn't. Good for her though.
61 Sato Sumire: Yes, glad she ranked after all. She entered AKB48 with a lot of hype, but despite her strong entry, recent fashion and Ultraman contributions she never really took of...
60 Ogasawara Mayu: Very nice surprise. I really like her look and I'm glad she made it.
59 Oya Shizuka: If you look at the Future Girls group picture she really stands out, haha. I just wish she'd stop being so damn negative all the time and actually smile for once.
58 Ichikawa Miori: It was only a matter of time before the Lemon hype died out a bit. I'm surprised she managed to keep it fresh for so long anyway.
57 Oba Mina: I don't get it.
56 Kimoto Kanon: Recently I've really started to like her, so I'm glad she made it in. Guess she is the true Team E ace. However, I wonder where Shibata Aya ranked...
55 Nito Moeno: YES. Justice.
54 Yamauchi Suzuran: If I'm completely honest I'm sorta glad Ranran didn't rank as high as everybody expected her to. Yes, she has her charm, I can see that, but I also feel that this ranking may actually benefit her in the long term. (i.e. so she won't get too cocky and will continue to improve herself).
53 Matsui Sakiko: Glad she made it. She doesn't look like the typical idol, but she has tons of skills and I'm happy people recognize that.
52 Ota Aika: Screw this. This is about 20 places lower than where she should be. My theory is that the WH fans put in extra votes for Mayu since she had a shot at #1.
51 Kikuchi Ayaka: Really surprised to see her so high. I guess comebacks do happen.
50 Ishida Haruka: She had no reason to look so disappointed. In fact, I don't get why she's this high in the first place. She's cool and all, but she's been quite invisible too. I guess those recent mature gravure sets came out just in time.
49 Muto Tomu: Big surprise. Should be interesting to see what she can do!

Next Girls
48 Katayama Haruka: Lucky 48. Definitely deserves to be higher, but seeing how tough the competition is, I think she should be happy.
47 Miyawaki Sakura: The true HKT ace. I don't really know her, but ok. Bring it on!
46 Yamada Nana: I sorta forgot about her. She definitely gets less promo than Milky and Sayaka, and it seems they're pushing her out of the NMB Top 3 a bit as well, so I'm surprised by this ranking.
45 Tano Yuka: CUTE!!! She did what most of Team 4 failed to do despite endless promo. I think that says something.
44 Nakagawa Haruka: Hope she can make her adult image work, because I already miss the old Harugon. A lot.
43 Fukumoto Aina: DADADADADADAN. Priceless. Love it.
42 Maeda Ami: Awyeah, she ranked after all. Looking at Sumire's etc. position I think she should be very happy.
41 Kobayashi Kana: Good for her, was nice to see her being all emotional too.
40 Fujie Reina: Same as last year, despite recent PB/IV... Well done.
39 Nagao Maria: Quite surprising the outranked a lot of the other Team 4 girls, because she doesn't exactly stand out a lot.
38 Miyazaki Miho: Even though this is low, it's still high considering how Myao managed to completely drop off the map lately.
37 Nakata Chisato: WTF. Very amusing and very happy for her. Show your worth Chiichan, now or never!
36 Nakaya Sayaka: Mousa two top next to each other. Very happy she ranked this high.
35 Mukaida Manatsu: I have no comments whatsoever. lol
34 Matsumura Kaori: Yay! The prove that now more than ever the unknown girls can make a name for themselves using G+, blogs and whatnot. Very well done Kaotan. Hope you get promoted ASAP.
33 Iwasa Misaki: Looking forward seeing her in center, should be good. At least we'll know the song will have proper vocals.

Under Girls
32 Ogiso Shiori: Sorta surprising she outranked Manatsu, but good for her.
31 Kisaki Yuria: Didn't expect to rank this high, so I'm very pleased. I didn't really care for Yuria when she first joined SKE48, but she proved she's all kinds of awesome.
30 Furukawa Ai: She's an all round talent and it's about time people started giving her credit for it.
29 Suda Akari: Bit lower than I hoped for. I thought she was gonna be the 3rd team S girl, but it's close anyway. I love Akarin and I'm sure she'll give us a great smile in the PV. Cool speech too, it gave her a bit more depth.
28 Yagami Kumi: She seemed disappointed? Really? Don't be. From not ranking to 28th is pretty epic.
27 Ooya Masana: Masana always does well at this event, so it's no surprise to see her so high again.
26 Masuda Yuka: She's not SKE48... lol. I think she dropped a bit, which sorta sucks. Aw well, at least she's still in the under girls.
25 Hata Sawako: Who would've ever imagined that the strange KKS would end up at 25th place, haha. Well, we did, because we made her our mascot girl before anybody had even heard of her!
24 Takayanagi Akane: Quite low compared to W Matsui, but I think it's due to the other SKE48 members getting more popular. I guess Airi, Miki, etc stole some Churi votes.
23 Shimazaki Haruka: AWYEAH.
22 Kuramochi Asuka: No surprise here... bit higher would've been nice, but ok.
21 Sato Amina: She's next to her BFF so that's cool. Higher would've been nice here as well, but Amina's always been great as an under girl.
20 Akimoto Sayaka: Solid result imo.
19 Watanabe Miyuki: Big jump, no surprise. I thought she might even have a shot at overtaking Yamamoto. Maybe next year. I'm not too happy about Milky outranking girls like Akane, Amina and Mocchi if I'm honest.
18 Yamamoto Sayaka: She didn't seem too happy. Last year the fans massively voted for her to secure at least one NMB48, so I guess she lost a lot of votes to Milky.
17 Takajo Aki: She looks epically hot when she's annoyed/disappointed/emotional. I think she has every right to be disappointed. Going from 12th to 17th place sucks. Yes, she's been less visible this year and it makes sense girls like Umechan and Yui passed her. I'm sure she'll be great as the UG center, but to me, Aki belongs in senbatsu.

Senbatsu
16 Umeda Ayaka: Woah, she made it! After all these years. Amazing success story.
15 Yokoyama Yui: WHAT! Only 15th?! I am very disappointed she's being outranked by Rie and Miichan.
14 Minegishi Minami: Miichan works hard to stay in the spotlight and it paid off. Nicely done.
13 Kitahara Rie: See Yui.
12 Kasai Tomomi: WOAH. Biggest and happiest surprise of the election. Nobody expected this. It warms my heart to see Kasai received so much support after suck a crappy year. Can we get that PB now, plz.
11 Miyazawa Sae: Solid as always.
10 Matsui Rena: Even though it's quite amazing to enter top 10 in an election when you're not an AKB48 member, I expected her to be above Jurina higher. I'm happy she received so many votes, and she seemed pleased herself, so I guess it's all good.
09 Matsui Jurina: Pfffft.
08 Itano Tomomi: No real surprise I guess. I sorta expected at least one of the Matsuis to overtake her, but she stood her ground.
07 Kojima Haruna: No surprise whatsoever. She is and will always be at the top.
06 Takahashi Minami: Awesome she ranked up a spot. Nobody works harder than Takamina. I agree with Mal's "you always feel like you can read her like a book." Very emotional person and a very valuable part of the group.
05 Shinoda Mariko: Always has her steady fanbase, so no surprise here either.
04 Sashihara Rino: AWYEAH, Sasshi for the Team A ace, haha. I actually hoped she would beat Yuki or Mayu as well, but this is still pretty epic. She worked so hard, so much pimping, I'm glad it paid off.
03 Kashiwagi Yuki: I said this before, but even though Yuki is one my top favs, I never understood why she was this high. It's no surprise she lost to Mayu. In fact, I think it's better this way for their relationship and for their own characters. Getting third is still epic though, very pleased with that.
02 Watanabe Mayu: She's the future of AKB48. No doubt about it. She wants #1, she'll get #1. Just a matter of time.
01 Oshima Yuko: I would've liked someone else to win, but it's no surprise she won. She's very talented in various areas and she won't fail AKB48. lol at how Acchan stole her moment. Horrible timing, but ok. Nice moment nonetheless. If this means we get Hebirote Pt. 2 with Team Oshiri center then I can only approve.

tl/dr: I'm pleased with the results and there are a lot of happy surprises scattered throughout the ranking  :thumbup

@A@)~ I didn't get to read this sooner, fjadksfjaskdl;f
Good day to everyone~

:3 As far as I know, the agencies go around offering contracts to the girls but Aki-P is the one to actually approve which one will get the baby idol, right?
Ohto Pro, the agency of:  Acchan, Yuko, Kitarie and Yui.
She was lead to one of the best.
(do tell me if I'm wrong, please!)
I'm sorry, but since I've spotted Sasshi, I've seen Aki-P right behind her. As if she were the one selected by him to be the Ace. Unfortunately, it takes much more to be The Ace, a lot of fighting, sweating and effort, looooooots of it.

I want to make clear that, Sashihara Rino, apart from all this massive pimping she has been getting-- I like her; but as Ishtar said, going on around saying: I'm good for nothing and that's my charm  ... instead of trying to find something to be good at and demonstrating how hard you want to actually get over yourself and be a better idol for everyone, is ..it isn't AKB. <--(Remember Mariko's speech? I honestly do not think one of our Kami 7 spoke like that just for the lulz)

About Yukko not making it into the selection. I have to admit, I'm highly disappointed about that. Yukiko Kinoshita is, as a matter of fact, the first girl in SKE48 that caught my attention but I've been told that seemingly, she's shy during handshakes or plain serious; making that one of the possible reasons why she won't get so many votes. I feel sorry for her.  I was so happy when I saw her name on the preliminary results, tbh.

Getting to another point I've seen on this thread. People not liking the fact of Jurina beating Rena. Don't you see Rena leading SKE48 instead of being part of AKB48? Don't take me wrong, I love Rena very much, but...when I met Jurina, I thought she was part of AKB instead of SKE, she has that something. The 'something' I see on Takamina and Mariko.

./ If any of you watched Majisuka Gakuen (first and second season already) ...did you notice how MG2 is getting...real? --except Yuko's role xD--

And that's it! Don't take me wrong, I don't pretend to offend anyone's likings. Thank you.

It's just people here are more Rena, you could see entire opposite reaction if you went to more pro-Jurina forum such as E48.
And you didn't talk like Jurina's oshi when you said "Rena leading SKE", they usually say Jurina did everything

It's written by the same writer... The "reality" directors end up directed the way "a writer" lead them to.

There is a third competitor to Jurina and Rena

it is the combo of the two- the coupling has increased the individual appeal of each girl- putting similar girls together (Rie and Sasshi are similar in several ways)

or more opposite girls (which I think Jurina and Rena are actually quite different) makes for nice fan moments

Not sure if you guys saw this article from AFP: http://entertainment.inquirer.net/44191/japan-pop-fans-go-crazy-for-democracy (http://entertainment.inquirer.net/44191/japan-pop-fans-go-crazy-for-democracy)

Quote
“This general election sprang from the demands of the audience; it was a democratic movement against dictator Akimoto. It may sound wild, but the movement is comparable to the Arab Spring,” he told AFP.

I lol'd so hard.

I want to make clear that, Sashihara Rino, apart from all this massive pimping she has been getting-- I like her; but as Ishtar said, going on around saying: I'm good for nothing and that's my charm  ... instead of trying to find something to be good at and demonstrating how hard you want to actually get over yourself and be a better idol for everyone, is ..it isn't AKB

Actually I would say if there's anyone that you can count on realizing that, it's Sasshi. She's said a few times before already about how her character (this is quite literal) might annoy people, and how the constant promotion could possibly make people start hating her. The reason why Sasshi does so well, imo, is because Sasshi as a whole is a huge in-joke that everyone's in on. Of course, now that she's near the top, expect her to tone it down, and she'll probably try to use her popularity to assure her longevity.
