I don't really have the feeling that current MM is lacking something because 9th and 10th gen have been so good?... So I have no idea what to expect from an 11th gen. I guess we'll see...

Yay!! I hope for a fairly small 11th gen- maybe 2 or 3 girls! I was feeling like MM could do with another couple of girls now that Risa and Aika are leaving... not that they're incomplete, but welcoming new girls might help throw them into a new era of MM~
And OMG :heart: if google translate is right- the minimum age of application is 10! Cuca can audition!!~ :lol:
I hope she does... and I really hope she can make it in! I've always felt like Tsunku MUST of come across her and know she plans to audition someday. I mean- why wouldn't you pick a girl who has pretty good control of her voice (whilst dancing too! D: ) and already has good knowledge of a lot of the dance routines from over the years?? (not to mention she already has fans and she hasn't even auditioned yet XD )

I'm a pessimist, I had to lose hope on Akari joining MM so I've kind of lost hope on Karin joining MM, too. 9th gen, S/mileage, 10th gen auditions all came and went and no sign of her debuting. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think she's in the outs. -> cue "wah wah" sound :(
All the "new blood" (non-Eggs) that they've brought along recently - Riho, Eripon, Zukki, Harunan, Ayumi, Masakiss, Meimei, Kananan - I've been very pleased with, so sure. Bring on the new blood. Show me what you've got. :D

I love auditions and all, but I don't want any more graduation announcements this year or the next. It's too much.
And Sayu and Reina shouldn't be made to graduate until they're 30.
Just put Karin in already! Momusu 11th gen + solo career would be ideal. Mobekimasuka! :D

I wasn't really surprised at the announcement because I've been asking myself "when are the new auditions being announced" for a while :) I know some of the newer fans might not be used to these frequent changes this is how it is :)
From the title of the auditions it seems that Tsunku is mostly looking for talent. I'm not saying that the 9th and 10th aren't talented but I'm not saying their the most talented either. I'm expecting about 3 girls to join the group.
What? Really? Cuca-chan is finally old enough to audition? Yaaaaaaaaaaay! :w00t: I really hope that when she does audition Tsunku will pick her otherwise he's going to have a lot of angry fans on his case.

Damn...I still barely know 10th gen and already they're throwing another audition at us!
That lower age limit still makes me uncomfortable, as much as I've defended the young ages of new members before as having precedent since the beginning. I suppose there's still a chance of Tsunku picking out another Iikubo, someone towards the higher end of the age limit...the current lineup is still mostly new girls with only two veterans left, so it would be nice to keep things balanced.
I'm not expecting Karin to be a factor here--she actually might be better off going solo--so until the auditions are well underway I really won't have a dog in this fight yet. But if there's anyone I have in mind that I want to see audition just for kicks, it's Rimu Yamada. Don't recognize the name? Here's a hint: she would be an actual second generation member of Momusu if she won. ;)

Shit. I supposed it would be so since the audition rules stated that 4th graders are out of the age limit, but Cuca just confirmed that she can't audition because she was born in 28th april while the age limit starts at 1st april.

I want a fresh generation with alot of young member (same age than Kuduu^^°)
Does any body know about Kuka, she's a little japanese girl who perform H!P dance on youtube..she's great and have the age for participate to the audition since this year...I want her for the 11th gén of Momusu .. (my little dream^^)
Anyway I hope that Tsunku will do the good choice! More of Haruka style please :bow:

I like Karin. She's good and she's improved a lot since she joined. But I don't think she will ever get into Morning Musume, or any of the other major H!P group. She could've gotten a free pass for 9th and 10th gen but obviously, the agency has other plans for her. They've been keeping her active in other stuff to help her build experience. I'd rather see Karin debut someday by leading her own group, but if Suugaku Joshi Gakuen was any kind foreshadowing, she'd probably follow the footsteps of Manoeri as a soloist which is also fine.
I wonder if Ricchan will apply. She's the oldest trainee based on tenure and both of her genmates are in major groups already.

I'm actually really excited for 11th gen. I think all these back to back auditions have worn off the shock and my only reaction is just: bring it on. :lol:
If the audition title is any indication, I think Tsunku is really looking for a strong singer. He managed to get a dance powerhouse in each gen for the last two, but in terms of singing ability all of them are average at best. I mean, I love the new kids, but only Fukuchan and Kuduu came in with slightly above average vocals among their gen-mates, and while I love Riho to bits and she is improving at a stunning rate, she still needs time to fill that gap left behind by first Ai's departure and then Gaki's. I like Reina but her singing can't carry a whole group, and Sayu isn't even in this equation, awesome as she is otherwise.
I would say they need another powerful singer to carry the range that the current members can't fill. I think Tsunku definitely trolled himself with the stable lineup those years too, all the recent songs tend to be more demanding, with the exceptions of the really recent ones. I hope we get interesting fresh blood this time round too! Auditions are exciting. XD

I totally agree. After seeing the video performance of the 50th single, it's like they didn't even give the 'new' Morning Musume a chance to show what they could do and let them sing instead of going crazy with the damn auto-tuning effects. :bleed eyes:

^Point being that Tsunku hasn't put in interesting people since 6th gen, and I must say, 9th and 10th are pretty darn hilarious, a throwback to the old Momusu as variety idols. (This is not to say that Koharu, Aika, Junjun and Linlin were not interesting, they are just not as sidesplittingly funny on TV as compared to the new kids)
It's all speculation of course. Tsunku could troll us all and leave us with yet another girl we have no idea how she made it through the auditions long enough to join. And then watch us whine like crazy and then be won over after a year or two because Tsunku double-trolls us by showing his scary foresight in how a girl will develop (see Koharu, went from scrawny brat who cannot sing to hot girl...who still cannot sing. But at least the level went from unbearable to marginally tolerable).
Or we could actually see real talent picked up for once. It all lies upon a whim of that wonderful troll named Tsunku. Sigh. XD
Still excited for the audition videos though. Because of all the opportunity it gives us to bitch speculate over who will make it in. XD I'm a horrible person who likes this sort of spectacle, so yup. :D Can't wait!

Does anyone else think "competent vocalist" is too strong a term here?
That implies that everyone else Max didn't mention is an "incompetent vocalist".
And I'd hardly call Aika, Riho, Fukuchan, or Haruka "incompetent".
If you meant "great vocalist", then maybe you have a point.
But with the exception of Linlin (and Miki, but she doesn't exactly apply), I wouldn't describe any members since about 1998 as "great vocalists" when they just started.
Even the great Takahashi Ai and Goto Maki had things standing in the way of vocal greatness at the start.
You could make a case for Kago Ai being a great vocalist at the start, but it's pretty clear we're not talking about "competence" anymore.
At an early stage of being a fan, I decided Morning Musume was about growth and improvement rather than sheer "talent" and skill.
That attitude has served me well and I wish that more people would see that as Morning Musume's true nature instead of complain.
For "talent" and polish, maybe you're better off with Avex, K-pop, or acts from the US.
Unless you like being constantly disappointed, you may as well go that way instead of just bitching about it.
As long as the new girls are entertaining, I'll be happy.
So bring on the "untalented" girls!
I'm sure I'll love them, despite any haters they may garner.

Okay, so this time for sure we know Karin is in the running. I still remember all the noise about her not being a finalist or selected for 10th gen only to find out that she might not have even tried out for it. Again, at this point I'm still not sure if I wanna see her in or not (adding value to Momusu versus being better suited for something else).
I see the Golden Child a.k.a Young Money (Kaneko/金子, get it?) is in this as well. If she wins, does she get Aichan's gold-ish yellow? :P

EEEEEEeeeee!! I'm so exicted for the audition! I looooove the process and the speculating and.. not really the disapointment when tsunku chooses the "hopeless" girls. =D But the last two times he also took my favorites.
I'm hoping for atleast 2 girls. To add 4 more would be a bit much, and the one person-gens always seems so lonely. I'm also rooting for Karin to join. She would be awesome in Momusu. She seems really forward, happy and smiles a lot.

Imo, adding four persons is the only way to go. I can totally picture it; generation battles on variety shows, easy to split into units, reminiscent of 15-nin MM (one of the best eras imo). On the other hand, I quite like this group as it is now, so adding new girls can upset the balance of power. It only takes one girl I don't really like to lessen my interest... but worries about that. Tsunku better pic awesome girls. lol

I'm usually pretty hesitant, worrying about whether he'll pick someone who seemingly needs a lot of grooming but I actually trust him this time around. It seems like there's a strong batch of girls to choose from. Plus I love the 9th and 10th gen girls, I haven't been this interested in Momusu in years. I don't really mind how many girls get picked but I'd like to see someone around Harunan's age (and I want Karin added but that's another story :P)
As long as they're lively like the other new girls, I guess anything would work for me.

Many people are thinking that she may be kicked out of the audition for violating the rules, just as another participant was kicked out of the final round of 9th gen auditions for blogging about making it to training camp. While Yuna did not technically reveal her name (which is what she’s covering in the first picture), this may still count as a violation. Even if she does not show up in the finals, we may never know if she was not allowed to pass, or if she really did just decide not to participate.

Hu, I heard in the awesome jphip chat from the Japanese master Slack that the reason she got negative feedback at 2ch was that she made it seem that she auditioned for MM just for lulz and her attitude was like "rofl, no way I'm going to this thing". Like she was looking down on Momusu and only auditioned in a troll way. I find it hilarious that those people on tumblr seem to be rooting for her and appear to be sad that she might be disqualified. THE GIRL DOESN'T CARE. In fact, it seems she's a bit of a bitch.
FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME IF I GOT IT WRONG but I really don't think anyone should be shedding tears for this girl... I don't think she deserves our attention at all, but should be buried and forgotten lol

I can't necessarily speak for others' feelings about the girl, but Shirenu quoted my explanation of the impression I got from her tweet.
That this girl was dismissing her golden ticket to the third round with such seeming disrespect made me livid for a good few minutes.
But then I took a step back and thought about it.
I was honestly surprised at how negatively even I was reacting, and I have to say, I didn't feel too good about it afterwards.
As a result of the 2ch fallout, she was scared enough to erase that tweet, post an apology, then make her account protected.
Imagine you tweeted something ironic or sarcastic, thinking the only people who will ever see it are your friends, who are your only followers.
Then you find a thread on a discussion board with hundreds of negative replies calling your character into question, just for the content of that tweet.
The only way I can describe such a situation is "disturbing".
I'm sure there's lots of girls who don't really care about Morning Musume but just audition for the hell of it, unaware of how seriously the hardcore fans take the audition process.
In our world of social media, it's just a bad decision that led to this whole thing coming to light and spiraling out of control.
The internet can be a scary and brutal place, and in hindsight I wouldn't be surprised if this girl was a little traumatized by this incident.
A girl makes a decision to post something that she thought would be a semi-private thing just shared with her friends.
That so many latched onto it and reacted as they did makes me feel kind of sick, as this judgmental attitude only shows the worst of our fandom.
Even more upsetting is that I was guilty myself of this knee-jerk reaction.
At this point, I'm not upset at this girl anymore -- I just feel sorry for her.
And yes, I kind of want to forget the whole thing happened.

I was a bit rage-y when I read about the girl. Then I read the last post from Slack and, yeah, I'm apparently a hardcore fan that takes this audition-thing for momusu a bit serious. But then I thougt about it and, yes, it's not like a lot of people auditions for shows like "Idol" or American Idol and the likes just for the lulz, so why would I be angry when someone does the same thing in Japan, for my favorite girl group.
It's very understandable that she shares it with her friends who probably are her only followers on twitter and laughs a bit about it. It's not like I wasn't really stupid and wrote stupid stuff when I was 17. (not saying she is stupid, I obviously dont know her, just saying I didn't always think thorougly before I posted stuff.) Only difference is that Internet wasnt as big and global then (-97), if you know what I mean.
One thing that really would be funny is that if she decides to stick with it and becomes a part of 11gen. And likes it.

Maria - I like her natural 'dun curr' eyes lol. She kind of reminds me of Maasa and Yurina when they were little.
Sakura - Of course I'll be rooting for her, at the same time it'd be weird if she was actually chosen. I thought I was making a crazy black horse wish when I mentioned her earlier in some speculation thread... And now she's in the final 6. I'm already pleased :lol: I quite like her singing and I've liked her look since I saw her in the S/mileage audition.
Haruka - It's nice to see someone older, but... While she's cute, I'm not sure she's Morning Musume cute. lol She looks exactly what she is now; an underground idol gurl.
Reina - Wow her teef scared me at first, but the rest of her face is preciously cute. Love her hair as well. She's supposed to be a talented dancer, so that's cool.
Yumeno - Very cute >_<
Hamachan - She's very cute, but I'm not sure I'm loving this loli direction for MM. If she gets picked, she'll probably release a PB a year from now. :/ The other finalists are young, too, but Hamachan is most obviously marketable that way. In any case, if she earns her spot in MM, I shall remain quiet about this until the day her PB is announced. :lol: I've got nothing against Hamachan herself.
Oh and - no Karin... As expected, but it's still sad.
I have a feeling there will be 2-3 girls added. It'd be pretty funny if they added all 6 instead. lol

Woooot my 3 faves got in!!! :D So, opinions:
Maria: Kind of bleh. Couldn't hear much of her voice but it doesn't give me too many expectations.
Sakura: Love her. Her voice has similarities to Yajima Maimi's but she sounds stronger. My favorite out of them all and they better not leave her out like they did with Sara in the last audition :angry:
Haruka: I like her too, though her voice is too hight pitched. Don't follow on Tanaka Reina's steps, girl! It would be weird to have her in the group, the younger Haruka would be the older's senpai :lol:
Reina: Very pretty. Teeth aside, she will probably be one stunning beauty in the future. Meanwhile her singing is OK, but since they say she's a good dancer, well, you can't have it all :P
Yumeno: Cute, and not a bad voice either. Her falsetto is quite good.
Ayano: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :wub: :wub:

My guess: a 3-4 nin 11th generation
The vocally good: Haruka, H!P management must be mad idiots not to put her into Morning Musume(unless Tsunku has even bigger plans for NGP than for the historical flagship of H!P)
Also vocally apt: Sakura & Yumeno
Reina: vocals not really that good enough to qualify for Morning Musume quality, but her kawaiiness & dance capability may just get her in
Unfortunately
Makino: I just can't see past her weak vocals :sweatdrop:
Ayano: her could be suitable for a group like s/mileage, but I'd say not for Morning Musume

I like all the girls but is it bad that I really want Reina to get in because of her hair? lol I love it. I don't want them to cut it (like they did Riho) or for her to get bangs (like Maachan during the last audition round). She's so tiny though, she'll become even more threat to Riho and Daishi for the tiny dance ace queen role.

Congratulations to her. In my humble personal opinion, she was the best singer out of the bunch. I'm looking forward to seeing her perform with the rest of the group.
I'm also very happy that, yet again, a Trainee has been given a chance to advance to one of the main H!P acts.

So H!P did gets its 'redemption' arc: back in S/mileage audition I admittedly only liked this girl because of her uniquely pretty looks (imo). She wasn't a particularly good singer or dancer then, she was kinda awkward actually.
But she has improved SO MUCH since then, both her singing and dancing, but especially her singing. If she can keep this work ethic up, she could be... One of the best o_o Of course, it's not easy to continue focusing on these things once you've already made it into a group because there are so many things to learn: choreographies, how to behave in a variety show, what to do when X and Y happens etc. Either way, I'm so happy for her and would feel proud if I felt I had any right to - honestly I didn't expect she could do this (I was only hoping...), so instead I should feel a little ashamed. But really, GREAT JOB Sakura :3

Sakura Oda - Mang she really wasn't that great skillwise in the S/mileage audition, but I was still really happy to see her join the Trainees. If she was chosen for MM, she'd be the girl I'd have to defend because people would be complaining how she can't sing or dance very well. But I really like her look, and ~flair~ if you will. She's quite different from the other girls. And besides, her name is SAKURA. ...Ok, I'm not seriously rooting for her to win the audition and I don't think her chances are great at all, but if she did I wouldn't mind. She can go from super high-pitched cutesy sugary voice to channeling fuckin' Fujimoto! In-tune, strong, expressive AND variate? I buy it damn! She's great now and I just can't wait how good she can get in the future!! Please oh please whoever's in charge of vocal training DON'T FUCKIN' SCREW HER!!! :grr:
If we're looking at past 1 person generations, she definitely comes closer to Goto than to Koharu and that's damn good.
