On July 13th, AKB48 member Kashiwagi Yuki held “1st Solo Live ~Netemo Sametemo Yukirin World~” in Tokyo.

This live was to commemorate the release of her 2nd photobook “Yu,Yu,Yukirin…” (Shueisha), and 2,000 lucky fans who were chosen by lot, attended the live. Since it was the 1st solo live for Kashiwagi, she seemed to be a bit nervous. She performed a total of 17 songs including some cover songs such as “Momoiro Kataomoi” (Matsuura Aya) and “Chokotto LOVE” (Petitmoni), and said “I can’t be happier to see all the Uchiwas and boards say ‘Yukirin’.” with big smile on her face. During the live, Kashiwari showed off her several faces by appearing in many different costumes, and attracted the fans. She also did “Virtual Clothes Changing Show” in which colorful images reflect by the projector on Kashiwagi’s white one piece.

At the live event, there was a big surprise for Kashiwagi which was announced by Nagura Jun (of comedian trio Neptune) who belongs to the same agency as Kashiwagi. Nagura gave her a message from producer, Akimoto Yasushi, that was posted on Google+. It says, “Though I could not make it to your live since the meeting was prolonged, I am announcing this on Google+. I am making Kashiwagi Yuki debut as solo. I’m entranced by Kashiwagi’s ballads. You don’t have to worry about ‘French Kiss‘ since the unit will proceed as well.” Listening to the message, Kashiwagi could not put her face up for a while, and said, “When a surprise and joy come together, I can’t say any words. I can feel that dreams can come true.”

During the encore, fellow French Kiss members, Takajo Aki and Kuramochi Asuka made their appearance as surprise guests, and they all performed the unit’s new song “Romance Privacy” (to be released on July 18th).

Would be nice if she took the Majisuka Gakuen time-slot. And some other AKB members also joined in.
In most PVs and stuff, they've mainly showed Yukirin's orthodox/level-headed chara. Wonder if the drama will be the same or a turn to something else that's more crazy. :D

What the... new personal record label YukiRing? So in a year we can see <insert cool new girl> making her debut under YukiRing records?! Should have called it YukiWin :V.
New drama too. Hmm... so far we've only seen her play dark or depressed characters, which is funny because you'd expect her to play the happy-go-lucky idol-esque characters. I wonder what they'll come up with this time.

Kashiwagi Yuki gets solo debut release date, starring drama role

On Sunday, more details were announced regarding AKB48 member Kashiwagi Yuki’s solo debut. She will release her first single (still untitled) on February 6, 2013, under an avex sub-label called YukiRing, created specially for Kashiwagi. This is the first time that an AKB48 member has gotten her own personal record label.
It was also announced that Kashiwagi will star in a TV Tokyo drama series starting in January, and her debut single will be the theme song for that drama.
Further details will be announced at a later date.

It's interesting to note that Yukirin has a special interview with Ishikawa Rika, a former member of Morning Musume in the Theater Version. Ishikawa Rika is currently Angry in the pop/rock duo HANGRY & ANGRY-f. We all know that Yukirin auditioned for Morning Musume before but was cut during the third round. And look at how far she's come - the third most popular member in the largest Japanese girl group now! I can't wait to know what is discussed in the interview.

I really wanted and was very tempted to buy all 6 to show my full support and get the 3D case...but realistically I was only able to afford 2 Q.Q
If only I lived in Japan where this stuff is acceptable and shipping didn't cost 20% of the total price of the items.

AKB48’s Kashiwagi Yuki meets her idol Ishikawa Rika
AKB48 member Kashiwagi Yuki had a special talk with former Morning Musume member Ishikawa Rika who Kashiwagi always claimed to be a fan. This special talk was for Kashiwagi’s solo debut single “Shortcake“, and it will be included as a bonus track in a theater edition (approximately 18 minutes long).
The talk happened because Kashiwagi mentioned Ishikawa’s name as a person she wished to meet the most. Apparently, Kashiwagi has been adoring her for more than 10 years since she was in the third grade, as Kashiwagi said, “A dream of 10 years’ standing has come true. She was the reason for me to start wishing to be an idol, so it was such an honor that I was able to meet her, and have a talk with her, and it was like a dream.”
Even though they have seen each other at some music programs, they never had a chance to talk to each other. Regarding this offer, Ishikawa said, “I knew that Yuki-chan mentioned my name in several occasions, and I always wanted to work with her.”
The shooting was held in the beginning of this month in a format where Kashiwagi asked Ishikawa questions. Reportedly, both girls were nervous at first, but they became close with each other fast.
Kashiwagi commented, “We have many things in common, such as our circumstances when joining a group, and starting a solo activity after entering a group, so there were things I could ask only to Ishikawa-san, and I learned many things from her. She was amazingly kind in person, so I recognized once again that she was the person I adore the most after all.” Ishikawa also said, “I was nervous at first too, but it was so much fun. I was happy to be able to have a talk with her, and was stimulated by her.”

She is just too damn beautiful :heart:
All the tracks in this single are really good. Seriously in love with her version of SakuKiNa, her voice suits the tone of the acoustic so much, it's so relaxing to hear to. Really can't wait for my copy to arrive.
I really hope this will be a success to show that s#itty newspaper that their scoop will not deter her fans faith nor her strength to be the ultimate idol. Good luck Yuki :)

On February 6th, AKB48’s Kashiwagi Yuki held a release event for her solo debut single, “Short Cake“.
Kashiwagi, who claims herself to be an ‘ame-onna’ (a woman whose presence causes rain), commented on the snow in Tokyo on this day. “There was a downpour on the debut day of French Kiss, and now snow for my solo debut. I wonder if I’ve entered the hall of fame for ame-onnas.”
“Short Cake” is a ballad that describes a heartrending love for a childhood friend, and it’s being used as the theme song for TV Tokyo’s drama, ‘Mielino Kashiwagi‘, starring Kashiwagi herself.
She expressed, “It’s been a dream of mine for a long time, so my dream has come true after 6 years. I’m happy that this day has finally come.” She also revealed that she has been receiving support from fellow members Watanabe Mayu and Sashihara Rino. “They tell me, ‘It’s nerve-racking singing by yourself, but Yukirin will be okay.’ That has been my support.”
On this day, Kashiwagi held a handshake event for her fans. Comedian duo TIM, “spiritual college student” CHIE, and popular patissier Tsujiguchi Hironobu also celebrated her solo debut.

Congrats on getting #2, Yukirin! :cheers Pretty good numbers. It's just as I expected: her first day sales will be a few thousands less than Mayuyu's Synchro Tokimeki. Shortcake is a solid single with very nice B-sides. Let's hope sales will be good for the rest of the week.

Rather than comparing it to the other soloist's debuts I prefer to compare it to their latest releases.
Both methods have their value, but in terms of sale predictions I feel the latter is more valid.
Sasshi - Masquerade: 28,197
Itano - 10nen: 37,038
Mayu - Hikaru: 40,187
Yuki - Shortcake: 45,333
Acchan: Kimi wa: 65,635
With that in mind I think these sales are really good. It'll be a race agains Mayu, aiming for a 92K weekly.
Especially considering how Kasai's sales were pretty poor and how Erena's and Wasamin's sales have been declining.

My solo debut single “Shortcake” went on sale today.
I sang it on Hiruobi this morning and I had an event for it in the afternoon.
TIM-san and CHIE-san came and got a shortcake made for me at a pastry shop by Tsujiguchi Hironobu-san!
The flavor and appearance of it was fantastic

Yukirin enjoys the highest Day 2 sales among all the solo debuts :shocked: That's really impressive and I believe a lot has to do with her vocal prowess and the wonderful selection of songs (and her popularity, of course). Perhaps her lack of reaction, i.e. innocence, towards the Shukan Bunshun non-story "scandal" also led to fans buying more copies to show their support for Yukirin.
Comparison with French Kiss' latest single Romance Privacy sales:
Day 1
Shortcake - 45,333
Romance Privacy - 47,194
Day 2
Shortcake - 32,074
Romance Privacy - 16,794
Similar to Mayuyu, it seems like Yukirin enjoys more support as a soloist than a member of a sub-unit. It's been a long time coming for her since she is one of the AKB48 members who fans really wanted to debut as a soloist. Takamina and Masuda Yuka (graduated) being the others.
Rather than comparing it to the other soloist's debuts I prefer to compare it to their latest releases.
